Create Dynamic Variable in LabView (Newbie Java Developer)

Guys,
This is my issue, I am a java & c++ developer and was interested in learning about LabView. But as simple as stated by the NI website it's not as trivial as I would expect it to be maybe because of my though process. So what I'm trying to obtain a simple sample to get me started with my LabView.
Example in Java lets say I prompt a user to enter a value the user enters the [value=20] & I would be able to create [value=20 new Objects] or what ever value the user enters. In LabView things doesn't seem to work that way. So I was hoping someone coulde provide a simple non trivial example so I can better understand how to apply this.

I come from a Java background too so might be able to help. I've found that LabVIEW is less demanding upon the programmer to necessarily specify the capacity or number of variables being created during development and does a little more intuitively in the background.
What data types are you interested in specifically? From your post I'd be tempted to use an 'Initialize Array' subVI and simply wire the user's input to the dimension size input.
In LabVIEW it's considered good practice to use wires in place of variables wherever possible because they emphasize the flow of data through the program.

I want to create dynamic varible , using ArrayList or Vector. The number of array i dont knwo, so how to create dynamic ArrayList or Vector.
for example:

or
Vector1,Vector2,Vector3 .....n, the n value i will get at run time, so how to create the dynamic ArrayList or Vector or i can use any other Object in java,

to store them.uhm ... why? If you have a variable number of elements in the map then you'd need to generate a variable number of variables (a number, that is not know at compile time, as it seems). Now if you could somehow create those variables, how would you access them? You'd have to generate the code handling them as well ...
Tell us what kind of data you've got and what you want to do with it. There's certainly a better solution to your problem.

Creating dynamic variable names

I know there has got to a way to do this but I am not finding anything on google. I want to create a dynamic variable name like name + i so when your in a loop the names come out name1, name2 and so on till however many you want. I have tried
int name + i = 3;
int name[i] = 3; // which obviously won't but I had to try
int name{i} = 3;and I am out of ideas. Thanks for all your help.

I'd suggest using variables named j or x when posting code which uses them as array indexes.
[i] - is for italics formatting
[u] - is for underlined formatting
[code] is for class Example { ... } code formatting
etc.

Create local variable using labview scripting

I am trying to use labview scripting to create a control and a local variable for that control. I want both the local variable and the control contained inside a case structure. My problems are twofold:
1. the local variable is left blank/unnamed
2. the local variable is wired outside of the case structure, even though I set it's owner to be the same as the owner for the control (which is placed inside the case structure).
The flat panel is there because I thought that my problem might be a result of the local var being created before the actual control, so this just forces the control to be created first. The other thing I wonder about is the VI Object Class for the local variable. I have tried 'Node' and Control->Boolean, but neither worked.
I have attached a jpg of the code I'm talking about. The picture on thetop is of the code in question. The picture on the bottom is of the resulting code that's created....
Can anyone offer any help?

The reason your locals aren't tied to a control, is because you didn't make a local variable from any control. Use the Boolean reference wire and wire it to an Invoke Node and select the Create >> Local Variable method.

Hi,
to insert the word into the ring you have to create the ring property node on the block diagram. To do it just right click on the ring cotrol and select Creat->Property node from pop-up menu. The select property "Strings []" by right clicking on the property node in the block diagram.
This array corresponds to the strings in the ring control. So you can change it and read info from it.

Follow below step.
1. First create a dataset. The select statement or result set must contain (App_id, name, phone,salary...).
2. Add a report parameter "App ID" with default setting.
3. Drag dataset fields to a table or tablix. Select the tablix properties. Go to Filter section.
4. Select the expression as Field App ID, Operator as "=" and Value as Parameter App ID.

Dynamic Variables and New-Object - in a GUI

so, i have not found anything that i can parlay into a solution for what i am attempting to do.
Basically i am using powershell to build a GUI to manage websites on various servers.
in a nutshell:
- i have an array with the servers i want to query
- a foreach loop gets me the site names for each server (number of sites can vary on a server).
- need put checkboxes on a GUI for every site to do something (25-30 sites across 8 servers).
currently i am passing the $dir.name variable to a function that will create the new variable using this command:
$pName = $dir.name New-variable -name $pName -value (New-Object System.Windows.Forms.CheckBox)
$pName.Location -value (New-Object System.Drawing.Size(10,$i))
$pName.Size -value (New-Object System.Drawing.Size(100,20))
$Pname.Text -value $dir.name

Problem is i am not able to do anything with my newly created variable. I am trying to use the following code to position the new checkbox but i get nothing (same for text, size, etc.) I am not seeing any errors, so i don't know what i have going
wrong.
is this even possible?
I am able to create static checkboxes, and i can create dynamic variables. But i can't mix the two...

Here is how we normally use listboxes to handle form situations like this one. The listboxes can automatically select subgroups.
The hash of arrays can be loaded very easily with a script or the results of the first list can be used to lookup and set the contents of the second.
Notice how little code is actually used. This is all of the setup code needed aside from the from definition:

Issue with create user and issue with Java Development tab

I have two issues with EP,
1. When i login with Super Admin user, i am unable to Create any user from User Admin tab. Do i have to change the settings of the Super Admin? or is there any criteria for creating the user?
2. How to assign any user the Java Development tab. Though i login with a super admin user i am unable to see the Java Development role and when tried to assign the role, there were no searches for that Java....

Hi Adi,
by default the super administrater has got all permissions. Thus you should be able to create portal users when using a user assigned to the portal group Administrators.
In order to help you with your first question we need more information. Please describe the malfunction in detail. Have a look into the log files and post related error messages.
Regarding your second question: You will find the java development role in PCD
pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.pct.pdk/Roles/com.sap.pct.pdk.JavaDeveloper.
If not, then you haven't installed the PDK business package in your portal.
Go to service.sap.com, choose downloads and search the package (PDK should do it). Download the package, and deploy on your portal using SDM.

Also worth having a look at SVG http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-SVG-20010904/, you can get a viewer at http://www.adobe.com/svg/ or you can use Batik http://xml.apache.org/batik/index.html to convert SVG to other formats such as JPEG.

According to your description, you want to connect multiple database from multiple servers using dynamic connection.
If in this case, we can create a Table in our local database (whatever DB we want) and load all the connection strings. We can use Execute SQL Task to query all the connection strings and store the result-set in a variable of object type in SSIS package.
Then use ForEach Loop container to shred the content of the object variable and iterate through each of the connection strings. And then Place an Execute SQL task inside ForEach Loop container with the SQL statements we have to run in all the DB instances.

Is it possible to dynamically create psp variables?

I'd like to be able to dynamically create psp variables on the fly. Without getting into details; using straight shared variables defined in a library is too constraining for my application. I've found that I can create PSP variables dynamically using DataSocket VIs in the System directory (psp://localhost/system/), though I can't seem to do it with the LV Shared Variable VIs. I was just curious if there was any way to programmatically create psp variables without using DataSocket VIs.
