Create edit form based on view with multiple column key

Hi
I have a requirement to create a form to update some tables columns based on a view.
The problem is that the view has a primary key of 4 columns.
I have tried to create a rowid key based on one underlying table but this does not work.
I am calling the form from an interactive report but can only pass 3 keys to the form, so only get 3 fields populated.
Is there some way i can create the form manually as the wizards cannot cope with this requirement?
My view is here:
CREATE OR REPLACE FORCE VIEW "DMOADMIN"."MO_STATUS_LOG_VIEW" ("MONEY_ORD_NO", "STATUS_CODE", "DESCRIP", "STATUS_DATE_TIME", "TXN_DATE_TIME", "LLOG_ID", "LINE_SEQ_NO", "CANCEL_IND", "PROCESS_ID", "PBU_ID", "TXN_SEQ_NO", "CANCEL_REASON", "CONDITION_ID", "ADMIN_DATE_TIME", "ADMIN_LLOG_ID") AS
SELECT a.money_ord_no,
b.status_code,
b.descrip,
a.status_date_time,
c.txn_date_time,
c.llog_id,
c.line_seq_no,
c.cancel_ind,
c.process_id,
c.pbu_id,
c.txn_seq_no,
c.cancel_reason,
c.condition_id,
d.txn_date_time admin_date_time,
d.llog_id admin_llog_id
FROM mo_status a,
mo_status_desc b,
host_txn_log c,
host_admin_log d
WHERE a.status_desc_id = b.id
AND a.money_ord_no = c.money_ord_no(+)
AND a.status_date_time = c.txn_date_time(+)
AND a.money_ord_no = d.money_ord_no(+)
AND a.status_date_time = d.txn_date_time(+)
WITH CHECK OPTION;
I have tried to populate the data using with an on load process using a plsql query but it is not working. I get no data found error message. Help!

Hi Erwin,
I have a similar situation.
Tabular form based on a view. The view contains a table in a another instance via dblink and everything works fine.
The only one difference between my and your view is that my "instead of" view is only for UPDATE. You must to have "intead of" trigger only for UPDATE. Insert and delete works fine withoust "instead of" trigger.
So, try to delete INSERT and DELETE words from your "INSTEADOFBUBA" trigger.
hope it helps,
Mzz

  • How to create a form on a table with 3 columns for a PK

    Hi All,
We have a table that has 3 Columns that form the Primary Key and I would like to create a form based on that table; unfortuanately on the 'Create Form Page' there's only 2 options that identifies the first and second PK columns.
Is there a way I could add the third PK column.
    Kind regards

  • OLAP on 11g and Materialised Views with Multiple Value-Based Hierarchies

    Hello OLAPians
I am trying to setup Orable BIEE to report on an OLAP cube with pre-aggregated data. As OBIEE is not able to hook into the OLAP directly i have to create an SQL cubeview.
Currently i am on a 10g OLAP environment and am using the oracle sample SQL cubeview generator to create an SQLview of my cube.
The cube itself has multiple dimensions and these dimensions have multiple VALUE-based (ragged) hierarchies and dimension members can be shared across hierarchies also.
Initially i had a problem running the view generator plugin because there is a bug within it that does not finish if there are multiple value-based hierarchies present. I was able to get around this by manually editing the limitmap for the cubeview and manually creating the SQL view.
The question that i want to ask is how robust is the 11g materialised views with multiple value-based hierarchies and the sharing of dimension members across different hierarchies?
Has anyone successfully been able to create a cubeview and import it into OBIEE without the hassle of manually editing the limitmap?
A problem arises with the value-based setup whereby if the client creates a newer depth in the ragged hierarchy, i need to manually create the limitmap and the cube-view over again, and then re-map the BI Administration mappings.

The simple answer to your question,
how robust is the 11g materialised views with multiple value-based hierarchies...?is that materialized views are not supported on top of value-based hierarchies in 11g. The reason is that it is not possible to write a reasonable SQL statement that aggregates a fact over a value-based hierarchy. Such a SQL statement is necessary if we want to create a rewritable MV on top of the cube.
But I suspect this is not what you are really asking. If you are trying to set up OBIEE on top of the cube in 10g using the view generator, then you will probably want to use the "ET VIEWS" that are generated automatically in 11g. These are generated whether or not you enable materialized views on top of your cube. I am not aware of any issues with the generated value-based hierarchy view support in 11g. Members may be shared between value hierarchies and you will not need to generate or modify limit maps.

  • Creating form based on table with non-sequence pk.

How to you create a form based on a varchar2 column and not a sequenced assigned pk. So the pk would be entered at the time a new
row is added. It would be entered just like the other fields from the form and not a sequence.
How do you do this as when using the wizard it prompts you to select one of 3 ways to define the pk.
    Sequence, trigger or pl/sql code.
If the answer is pl/sql code, what do I need to create in the code?

If the primary key is created by the user themselves (which is not recommended, you should have another ID which the user sees which would be the varchar2 and keep the primary key as is, the user really shouldn't ever edit the primary key) then all you need to do is make sure that the table is not populated with a primary key in the wizard and then make sure that you cannot insert a null into your varchar primary key text field.
IF you're doing it this way I would make a validation on the page which would run off a SQL Exists validation, something along the lines of
    SELECT <primary key column>
    FROM <your table>
    WHERE upper(<primary key column>) = upper(<text field containing user input>);
and if it already exists, fire the validation claiming that it already exists and to come up with a new primary key.
Like I said if you really should have a primary key which the database refers to each individual record itself and then have an almost pseudo-primary key that the user can use. For example in the table it would look like this:
    TABLE1
table_id (this is the primary key which you should NOT change)
user_table_id (this is the pretend primary key which the user can change)
    other_columns
    etc
    etc
hope this helps in some way

  • ORA-01445 error when creating a form on a view

    Hi,
I am attempting to create a form on a view - the view is a simple select from three tables that are connected to each other via foreign key relationships. When I attempt to submit data via this form, I get the ORA_01445 error. The Oracle8i Error Documentation says that this error is caused when a SELECT statement attempted to select ROWIDs from a view derived from a join operation. Because the rows selected in the view do not correspond to underlying physical records, no ROWIDs can be returned. The solution is to remove ROWID from the view selection clause, then re-execute the statement.
I did not include the rowid when I created my view so I went to look at the package that is generated by Portal to create the form. Sure enough, rowid was appended to the select statements.
Are there any workarounds for this? Why is the rowid appended to the select statement? Do I need to build my view another way? We cannot use master-detail forms because the nature of the data does not allow it. We would like to be able to use just one form to update several tables.
I read in an earlier post that forms cannot be created on views that have DISTINCT, AVG, COUNT, MAX, MIN, GROUP BY, HAVING, START WITH, or CONNECT BY. My view has none of these. It is just a simple select * from a, b, c.

    Melissa,
This is the current limitation of the forms, we do not support non-updatable views, we expect to have the rowid available, if you want to access non-updatable views, please create a QBE report. If you think this is a very important feature, please file a bug.
    Thanks,
    Dmitry

  • Can you create editable forms in Acrobat X Standard?

    Hi everyone,
Hopefully an easy question although I cannot find a definitive answer on the product page.
I need to be able to create editable forms that others can fill in and print or save using Reader 8, 9 or X. Can these forms be created using Adobe Acrobat X Standard? The forms have been created in Word 2007 but we want to disribute them as PDF's and allow certain fields to be filled in on the PDF. The form will be downloaded from a website, filled in and emailed back.
Any clarification on this is greatly received.
    Thanks...

I know you can create forms with Standard but I don't think you can enable them so that Reader users can save them without the Pro version.
    dasnowball87 wrote:

Even if you could do this, you would want to carefully consider whether you want a form out there for everyone to fill out and send in. There is a restriction to the amount of times you can receive data from an enabled form. After 500 times, you would be violating the license agreement.

  • APEX  How do I create a Form based on a Database Table from other schema

My APEX schema is WISEXP. I have a database table that resides in WISDW schema on the same database. I want to create Tabular form based on this table.
I am not able to create a FORM based on the table from WISDW schema. I am able to create a FORM based on SQL though from this table in WISDW schema - but it does not do any action on Update/Insert rows.
Appropriate Synonyms and grants are created. Is there a limitation or am I missing something? Please advise.
    thanks
    Rupen

If Rupen is using 2.2 or 2.2.1, it is likely he is running into the bug described here: Re: Workspace to Schema Assignments
In that case, it may be a necessary and sufficient workaround to assign the foreign schema to the workspace.

A short tip that details how to create editable form fields using Acrobat X Std. or Pro.
    http://adobe.ly/wzXkmL

I have created a form which will be filled out by customers and sent back to me via 'submit' button. What I am trying to figure out is when we receive the filled out form, is there any way to have it as a pdf. To clarify, when the form is filled out and sent, the receiver opens the email and attached is a non-editable pdf. This way the customers information is no longer editable.

I have created a form that contains fields with default text for a user to update/personalize.  Is there a way to style the text so I can quickly identify changes to default text in a field?

George - Thanks you so much!  Actually, i'd love for the text color to be red font color.  Could you send me the script for that? And I assume I just copy and paste the script into the field properties (see screenshot)?
    thanks again!

I created this anonymous Pl/SQL function at a application level ..Then I followed up to create a select list with a function inside. However I could not create select list with the command suggested in the demo which is
    select getcrops(cropid) d, cropid r from crop;
APEX (2.1) returns a error message. What am I missing ? Should the function be called from somewhere else after creating a regular select list..? Where the functions (Pl/SQL) should be ideally stored for application level access..? and for across application level access ? How can I check the function works good. Help is appreciated.

    Still really one column.
If they need to be independent then you've got to have three selection lists.

  • Treeview with multiple columns

I googled alot about creating a treeview with multiple columns similar to a listview in details mode with the added benefit of nodes and roots. I got some answers but I was wondering if visual 2008 itself has such an option, and if not what is my best
    choice?
    Debra has a question

I just wanted to know if in the visual studio 2008 itself there is an option to have a multi column treeview or a listview with nodes...
    Debra has a question
    Hi Debra,
    >> a multi column treeview
As far as I know, the standard Microsoft .NET TreeView does not support columns, and if you want a tree control that supports columns, you could turn to the link from Tony:
    #TreeView with Columns
    http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/23746/TreeView-with-Columns
    >>a listview with nodes
I made a research about “a listview with nodes” and found no results. I checked the ListView Class and did not find information about nodes.

  • List with multiple column

    hello all ,
how to create a list with multiple columns ? can anyone share some examples or code snippets

What I would usually do is create a movieclip/sprite that contains a row with every column in it (each column being a textfield).  Then pile up the rows one atop the other (using Actionscript) as they are populated with data.
