Create new user like another user with select privilege???

our user requested create another user similar to "apps" , but only "selec t" privilege to "apps" objects and other user's objects which grant to "apps".
In this case they can use tool login and do some work.
Does anyone know how to "create a new user like APPS", bur only copy APPS "select" privilege to this new user?
Thanks.

  • How to create new user with more than one default folder

    hi
A new user created in OCS has only one default folder(Inbox).
I want to create new user with customized default folder.
    for example:
a new user has more than one default folder(Inbox,Outbox,Draft,Dustbin...)
And also I want to automaticly enable the functions:
When sending messages, place a copy in Outbox
    Keep message drafts in Draft
    Move deleted messages to Dustbin
    who know that?
    thanks

The same reason that Apple and 3rd Party vendors put multi-size templates in one file I expect. I am trying to construct an in-house standard template for use in our company, and it is easier to manage if there is only one file to send to people rather than many - both initially and for subsequent edits / updates to the template.
Of course it would be possible to create several templates (one for each size). But since it is clear that templates can be combined, it appears sensible to do this - unless the doing of it is horridly complicated

  • Create user with select privilege only one schema

can someone tell me how i can create user with select priviliges only one schema.
i don't want the user to have any select privileges with other schema.
    can someone advise me.
    Thansk

In general, you would do something like
    CREATE ROLE abc_read_only;
    FOR x IN (SELECT * FROM dba_tables WHERE owner='ABC')
    LOOP
      EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'GRANT SELECT ON abc.' || x.table_name || ' TO abc_read_only';
    END LOOP;
    CREATE USER your_user ...;
GRANT abc_read_only TO your_userYou create a role, grant the role SELECT access to all the tables in the ABC schema (you can extend this to grant access to views, functions, etc depending on the requirements), and then grant that role to your user.

how to do this in oracle xe ???

That's right. Additionally, you can use assistant to perform this task. In the near future you may want to have the SQL Reference handy: http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/toc.htm

  • Create new user with objectclass

I've extended our schema to include an objectclass "lfcouser" with a parent of inetorgperson. We are running 4.12. I'd like this objectclass to become part of any new user that is created, how do I do this? I've researched the documentation any many websites and can't find an answer.

If creating a user from the console, from the Object menu, select New and Other. Scroll down the list to find lfcouser.

  • How to create new user, with same personal files, for troubleshooting?

I cannot find this answer in "Finder Help", nor in the Community discussions thus far. What I must do to troubleshoot the spinnign beach ball: My next step: I must troubleshoot my friend's iMac running Mac O.S 10.6.8 by setting up a new user, called "Test". This I can do easily. However, what I am unsure of is this: as this "new user", actually just me as a tester, I must be able to access the same email, Word files, Desktop, photos, etc. that I used to access. How, then? Copy all into a shared folder or what? There must be a less cumbersome way. I do NOT wish to delete anything. Of course, I have justmade a perfect backup of everything on my hard drive. Please advise re my next step: sharing the "User" little house files, with myself, as the new, possilbly temporary, user. Thank you so much, anyone and everyone!

You shouldn't do any of that for troubleshooting. The test user account should be pristine. If you copy stuff from the old account, then you also copy whatever is causing a problem.
Just use the Accounts/Users & Groups preferences to create a second user called, "test." Make this user an admin user. Then log out of the old account and log into the new one. That's it. You can still access and use applications in the Applications folder if you need to test third-party applications.
We could be more helpful if you explain just what you need to troubleshoot. If just the spinning beachball is your issue, then visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on resolving the SBOD problem.
If the computer is simply running slowly then read the following:
Things You Can Do To Resolve Slow Downs
If your computer seems to be running slower here are some things you can do:

Boot into Safe Mode then repair your hard drive and permissions:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions Pre-Lion
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    Repair the Hard Drive - Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilites Menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD disk icon and click on the arrow button below.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. If no errors are reported, then click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Restart your computer normally and see if this has helped any. Next do some maintenance:
For situations Disk Utility cannot handle the best third-party utility is Disk Warrior;  DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible.
Note: Alsoft ships DW on a bootable DVD that will startup Macs running Snow Leopard or earlier. It cannot start Macs that came with Lion or later pre-installed, however, DW will work on those models.
    Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.  Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts was significantly reduced since Tiger.  These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard or later and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive.
    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Protection
An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware.

OS X Lion- Protect your Mac from malware

If you require anti-virus protection I recommend using VirusBarrier Express 1.1.6 or Dr.Web Light both from the App Store. They're both free, and since they're from the App Store, they won't destabilize the system. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.)
    Troubleshooting Applications
I recommend downloading a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX, Mavericks Cache Cleaner, or Cocktail that you can use for removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc. Corrupted cache, log, or temporary files can cause application or OS X crashes as well as kernel panics.
If you have Snow Leopard or Leopard, then for similar repairs install the freeware utility Applejack.  If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the command line.  Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. Applejack does not work with Lion and later.
    Basic Backup
For some people Time Machine will be more than adequate. Time Machine is part of OS X. There are two components:
    1. A Time Machine preferences panel as part of System Preferences;
    2. A Time Machine application located in the Applications folder. It is
used to manage backups and to restore backups. Time Machine
requires a backup drive that is at least twice the capacity of the
        drive being backed up.
Alternatively, get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
      1. Carbon Copy Cloner
      2. Get Backup
      3. Deja Vu
      4. SuperDuper!
      5. Synk Pro
      6. Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on backup and restore.  Also read How to Back Up and Restore Your Files. For help with using Time Machine visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things Time Machine.
Referenced software can be found at MacUpdate.
    Additional Hints
Be sure you have an adequate amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run concurrently. Be sure you leave a minimum of 10% of the hard drive's capacity as free space.
Add more RAM. If your computer has less than 2 GBs of RAM and you are using OS X Leopard or later, then you can do with more RAM. Snow Leopard and Lion work much better with 4 GBs of RAM than their system minimums. The more concurrent applications you tend to use the more RAM you should have.
Always maintain at least 15 GBs or 10% of your hard drive's capacity as free space, whichever is greater. OS X is frequently accessing your hard drive, so providing adequate free space will keep things from slowing down.
Check for applications that may be hogging the CPU:
    Pre-Mavericks
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time (>=70,) then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
    Mavericks and later
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the View menu.  Click on the CPU tab in the toolbar.
Often this problem occurs because of a corrupted cache or preferences file or an attempt to write to a corrupted log file.

  • Create new user with specific UID

I have posted this question in the 10.4 group but I need to do it on Leopard, too.
Creating a new user from the Accounts GUI creates users with UID's 502 onwards. How do I create a user from scratch with a specific UID, e.g. 1234?
I know that modifying user 502 won't work because trash files etc. are set up with 502 in their path names.
Any help, links to help etc. appreciated.

    Peter,
In Leopard, UIDs can be changed just as Baltwo described. I do not know if this will also change the UID of files in the user's HOME folder, but you can do that yourself. In fact, it would be a good idea to do so, manually, in any case.
Go ahead and change the UID for the user as described. This should be done from a different, admin account. Then, open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal. Type the following, followed by a <RETURN>:
    <pre style="overflow:auto; font-family: 'Monaco'; font-size: 10px">sudo chown -R username /Users/username</pre>
In the above text, you will replace all instances of "username" with the short name for the user in question. If the short name is "fred," for example, you would type the following exactly:
    <pre style="overflow:auto; font-family: 'Monaco'; font-size: 10px">sudo chown -R fred /Users/fred</pre>
When you press <RETURN>, you will be asked for your admin password. Enter it (it will not be echoed) and again press <RETURN>.

  • Can I create a User with Root Privileges but without UID Zero?

    Dear all,
I'm working on this project and this is the task required: Create a user and let this user perform all that the ROOT user can perform but shouldn't have UID 0. I'm sincerely new to this task but I challenged myself and made so many search on Google and this is what I was able to do.
    1. I created a user --- testuser1
    2. I created a role --- advrole
    3. I added the Solaris predefined profile -- Primary Administrator Profile to the role advrole and added this role to the user testuser1.
    4. I logged out from root and login with the newly created user i.e. testuser1.
    5. I ran the command id and the user - testuser1 still has its UID defined by me when I was creating the user account (which is good as far as my task is concern).
    6. In order to perform ROOT tasks when logged in with testuser1, I use su - advrole.
    7. I can now do all that ROOT can do but whenever I run the id command, the advrole shows UID 0 (WHICH IS BAD FOR ME AS PER MY TASK).
My question is, I need to tell the customer that what they actually want isn't feasible in Solaris and the above is closer to what they want but I need to be sure if it's feasible or not before telling my customer?
Can anyone tell me if it's feasible and if so, how can it be done? Or if the way I did it is the only way, kindly let me know as well so that I can get back to them with a valid and concrete explanation.
    P. S. The customer requires this because when doing auditing, their auditing software tracks users based on UID so therefore if every user will login and su - root, all will appear as done by the ROOT user because of the UID and a particular will not be held responsible.

If you use auditreduce and praudit, you can get the information you need. It will show, as in my example below, that I logged in via SSH, and then switched to root after logging in. This information can be easily scripted and I do so every day in my daily report so I can see who logged in and who switched to root.
    Logging in via ssh:
    header,69,2,login - ssh,,MYSYSTEM,2010-06-03 09:15:15.151 -07:00
    subject,myusername,myusername,mygroup,myusername,mygroup,11435,512647774,15097 65558 MyIP
    return,success,0Then switching to root:
    header,94,2,su,,MYSYSTEM,2010-06-03 09:15:21.100 -07:00
    subject,myusername,root,mygroup,myusername,mygroup,11448,512647774,15097 65558 MyIP
    text,success for user root
return,success,0It also indicates the session ID for the SSH session, so I can monitor when that session ended too.
A different session logging in and out via SSH -
    header,69,2,login - ssh,,MYSYSTEM,2010-06-03 09:16:19.380 -07:00
    subject,myusername,myusername,mygroup,myusername,mygroup,11451,3474846213,15097 131094 MyIP
    return,success,0
    header,69,2,logout,,MYSYSTEM,2010-06-03 09:16:51.452 -07:00
    subject,myusername,myusername,mygroup,myusername,mygroup,11451,3474846213,15097 131094 MyIP

  • New User with All privileges of Administrator

    Dear All,
We created one user USER1 in RPD.
We should give all priveliges to USER1 Like Administrator.(Answer,Dashboard,... should access to USer1)\
    How to set?
    Thanks
    Govind R

    Hi Raj,
Just a clarification, is your user (user1) in the RPD is grouped under Administrator?
If the user is grouped under Administrator, then we can follow a simple step in BI front end for the user to access all the front end objects.
In the BI Dashboard, click the settings there you can find manage presentation catalog groups and users. Here we can add the User 1 to presentation server Administrator group.
Make sure your Administrator user is set with all the necessary privileges to access Answers, Dashboard etc.

  • Creating portal users with owner privileges?

    Hello,
I need to let local adminstrators create users in the portal.
This is based on instance-specific privileges, not global.
Setting them to 'owners' of the group in the portal should let them add users.
Once created and I log in as one of them I do not have the privileges of being an
'owner', eventhough it's visible in the portal that I am an owner.
    Anybody?
    /

    Hi,
To make the problem a little clearer.
I want to have "local adminstrators" that can manage portal users i.e; delete, insert and update portal users.
However I do not want these "local administrators" to be "Full administrators"- too dangerous.
The "local adminstrators" should belong to the same group as the users they are set to administer. The
only difference between a "local administrator" and a user of a group is that the "local administrator" have privileges
to manage the other users of the group. If I have understood the concept right an owner have these privileges.
I made them owners of the group, but this did not enable them to manage users.
This must be a rather common approach, to have some users being able to administer other users without being a fullfledge DBA.
Right now I'm looking into mapping them(the local administrators) to a different database schema with rights to manage users.
I realize that to map them to another schema, then the checkbox "Use this schema for Portal Users" have to be checked when creating the
schema. How do I check if this was checked and if it wasn't checked can I alter it now?
Another thought is to dynamically upon meeting certain conditions making them Full Administrators, then after finishing the task
reinstating them as normal users.. but this.. well hmm
    Thanks.

  • New user with sysdba privilege gets connected as user sys

    hi ,
I am using oracle 10g R2 . I have a user named test . I have provided sysdba privilege to this user . Now , when I login to this user as conn tkcsowner/password
it gets connected , I created a table in that , the table data is fine . But, when I login as conn tkcsowner/password as sysdba , it connects , if I execute show user it shows "user is sys" , and the table is not here .
    My question is ............
    1. if I login to tkcsowner as sysdba , where do I login actually , to sys account or to tkcsowner ?
    2. I want to execute some stored procedures through tkcsowner , which requires sysdba privilege . But , how can I can execute those from tkcsowner , but not from sys ?
Any additional info on this would be appreciated . thank you.

    My question is ............
    1. if I login to tkcsowner as sysdba , where do I login actually , to sys account or to tkcsowner ?Yes, teh correct behavior. If you would use the o/s authentication, you would be connected as Sys user since Oralce would bypass the supplied username and password of yours over the prompt.
    2. I want to execute some stored procedures through tkcsowner , which requires sysdba privilege . But , how can I can execute those from tkcsowner , but not from sys ?When you are going to connect with Sysdba role, you would be connected as Sys user. I am not sure what you exactly mean by saying that the procedure requires the Sysdba privilege? Procedure doesn't need any Sysdba privilege( there isn't such thing since its a role not a privilege) but the provilege of Execute on that procedure . So you do want to check it out what you are actually looking for and why?
