CREATEPO WorkFlow - Need Help.

hi all,
i have a requirement in creating purchase orders and i would like some assistance please.
what i need to do is set bill_to_location_id and bill_to_location based on location of the requester. i was able to do this thru CUSTOM.PLL in manual creation of PO. however, in the Auto-Create, i was told that i needed to customize the workflow for this.
i'm currently in the package PO_AUTOCREATE_DOC where the workflow seems to execute. but i'm not sure which process executes the creation of the PO here. can someone help me?
thanks

• Aperture Workflow - need help creating workflow for photo management

Hi -
I currently shoot with a Canon SD890 (point & shoot) and a Nikon D300 (SLR). My photography is either personal photography or street photography. I may use some of my photography for a web project but that should not be considered right now. I shoot jpegs with the SD890 and RAW with the D300. I need to create a workflow that will allow me to manage all of my photos as well as the RAW vs JPEG aspect. Here are a few initial questions:
1) Should I separate the RAW and JPEGs in Aperture (two libraries)? One library for finished photos and one for negatives?
2) What folder structure should I use? Since I am not a professional photographer, I won't be shooting projects. I think something date or event driven would be best (preferably both).
I am interested to hear how others do this...especially if you use both point & shoot and SLR cameras.
Thanks for your help!

No, use a single Library. Aperture will have no problems with the various formats or with various different cameras.
2) What folder structure should I use? Since I am not a professional photographer, I won't be shooting projects. I think something date or event driven would be best (preferably both).
Actually those date or event driven batches of images are very logically "Projects" in Aperture. Simply name each group of images as you import into AP as a new Project.
IMO it is not good to import camera-to-Aperture (or direct to any app other than the Finder). Best is to use a card reader and use the Finder to copy images from the camera card to a folder on the computer hard drive.
Below is my Referenced-Masters workflow:
• Remove the CF card from the camera and insert it into a CF card reader. Faster readers and cards are preferable.
• Finder-copy images from CF to a labeled folder on the intended permanent Masters location hard drive. I label that folder with the Project name suffixed with _masters, that way I can always find the Masters if Aperture forgets where they are.
• Eject CF.
• Burn backup copies of the original images to DVDs or to hard drives (optional backup step).
• Eject backup DVDs/hard drives (optional backup step).
• From within Aperture, import images from the hard drive folder into Aperture selecting "Store files in their current location."
• Review pix for completeness (e.g. a 500-pic shoot has 500 valid images showing).
• Reformat CF in camera, and archive DVDs of originals off site.
Note that the "eject" steps above are important in order to avoid mistakenly working on removable media.
I strongly recommend that every Aperture user spend $35 and work through the tutorial CD Apple Pro Training Series: Aperture 2 (Apple Pro Training Series) by Ben Long, Richard Harrington, and Orlando Luna (Paperback - May 8, 2008), Amazon.com. Note that the value is in working the tutorial, not in using the book as a manual.
Good luck!

• Using Laptop for temporary workflow, need help!

Hi, I need some help. New to LR, love it! I currently do all my work on my desktop, but I am buying a new one and need to take mine in to have files transferred etc. In the meantime, I am a wedding photographer and we are in the middle of wedding season...so I thought I would just use my laptop as a temp workspace. All my files, catalogs etc are alredy stored on an external hard drive. I don't trust the computer drives for storing pics. Anyway, so I thought I could just hook my ExtHD up to my laptop and it would be fine. It does work to see all the original files....BUT any edits I made and stored in "collections" are not there. The collection file folders are there, but they are empty. What the heck! I have to be able to use my laptop for a few days. What do I do? I read the section on syncing catalogs on two computers but it still didn't open my collections where all my edits are made. Please help asap! Thanks, Kim

As you can see I am sitting right here waiting on someone to save the day for me! ha ha
I don't understand. The Catalog etc are already on my Ext Hard Drive. I am so confused as to where I should put it. Why can't I just open it from it's current location on my ext hard drive? Thanks,

• NEED HELP WITH WORKFLOW CONFIGURATION

I need help with 3 situations below. Please help me with these. How do I configure these. I also haveto provide specs to the Abaper. What exactly do I need to include in the specs. I anyone has the specs similar to these please send me over. Also tell me what I need to do to get these requirements fulfilled.
1) Description:
This is a workflow requirement to serve as a reminder of upcoming investment
maturities.
Requirements Details:
Create a workflow to serve as a reminder of upcoming investment maturities.
Donor System Processing Narrative:
Read the maturity dates on investments.
Target System Processing Narrative:
Send a notice to the parties that an investment will be maturing soon.
2) Description:
Implement workflow to route invoice receipts using a one time vendor for management
review and posting
Desired Functionality:
If a one time vendor is entered by the AP Voucher Clerk the invoice will be automatically
parked by the program and a workflow notification triggered to the Accounting
Supervisor and Accounting Manager (backup). The Accounting Supervisor will review
the parked document and imaged copy of the actual invoice and post the parked
document.
3) Description:
An approval workflow is needed for credit memos posted to SAP customer accounts.
Desired Functionality:
The Cash Journal Clerk will post a credit memo to the customer account using transaction
FV75 Park Customer Invoice. This transaction will automatically trigger a workflow to
the Accounting Manager for approval and then to the CFO who will approve and post the
parked document. (In order for this transaction to automatically trigger what configuration needs to be done).

Bob;
You can borrow the example code that ships with both NI-DAQ (in case you are doing NI-DAQ function calls) and Labview. The best examples to start with are the ones that have the prefix STC.
Hope this helps.

• Need Help Determining Least Common Demoninator for Frame Rate, Codec, and Workflow

I need help determining the best timeline setting and Compressor workflow to integrate footage with varying frame rates and codecs that I'm currently upres'ing for a multi-camera concert performance destined for HD broadcast output. I'm assuming the network needs 29.97.
Thus far, I've been working with Apple ProRes Proxy files to create lo-res edits. Now, I've started the task of offlining and ingesting new, HD clips from the proxy references. The content originates from either Panasonic HVX200 or Panasonic GH1 cameras.
Looking at the material, it appears the cameras were not shooting with the same settings and, somehow, a PAL GH1 got into the mix. Some of the performances have the PAL GH1 and other do not.
Here's the breakdown of the varying sources. I got this info from the Log & Transfer columns.
HVX Cameras
Format: 1080p24
Source Format: DVCPRO HD 1080i60
Shooting Rate: 24
Vid Rate: 29.97
TC Format: Non-Drop
GH1 NTSC
Format: 1080i60
Source Format: AVCHD 1080i60
Shooting Rate: 30
Video Rate: 29.97
TC Format: Drop
GH1 PAL
Format: 1080i50
Source Format: AVCHD 1080i50
Shooting Rate: 25
Video Rate: 25
TC Format: Non-Drop
ANOTHER GH1 NTSC
Format: 1080p24
Source Format: AVCHD 1080p24
Shooting Rate: 24
Video Rate: 23.98
TC Format: Non-Drop

Call the TV station/network and get their spec sheet first. You need to know more than frame rate.
Once you have that, you can work backwards to arrive at a workflow.
As a general priniciple, you'll get a more seamless translation of format when you add frames rather than removing them. (eg 24p to 27.97 rather than 29.97 to 24p)
At least all the material starts out in the 1080 world.
Do all your conversions before you start editing. (I'd use ProRes or ProRes LT for the editing codec).
Budget a bunch of time to sync the material or figure out a quick cutting style that minimizes sync drift.
What a nightmare.

• I need help convincing my workflow administrator on Illustrator PDF presets.

I need help convincing my workflow administrator on Illustrator PDF presets.
I work at a company which prints folding cartons, pressure sensitive labels, and film packaging. Esko Automation Engine 12 is our primary workflow. We use PDF files saved directly out of Illustrator as the primary file format. At times, the size of an art file can get fairly bloated from scaled images, effects, transparency, etc. The workflow and Ilustrator have a hard time dealing with the file size. It has been suggested to use the "export" function under the File Menu and save the art file as a "normalized PDF". I honestly believe Distiller isn't even remotely involved when you do this. I tried to make the case to use the settings in the dialog box which appears when you save a PDF out of Illustrator. I know for a fact that this dialog box isn't any different from what you see in Distiller. From my years of experience with Kodak Prinergy, I know things like bicubic downsampling, etc. will not hurt the file. The workflow administrator thinks otherwise. Can anybody point me in the direction of Illustrator PDF presets that would convince him otherwise?

Brian,
What is somewhat confusing in your post is your mentioning a capability to export PDF from the File Menu as a normalized PDF file. There is no such option in Adobe Illustrator, at least as it comes directly from Adobe. You may use the File=>Save As dialog to save the file as a PDF file, but PDF is not an option under File=>Export. Furthermore, in terms of the .joboptions provided by Adobe, there is no Normalized PDF joboptions settings.
You mention Esko. Is it possible that you have one of Esko's products installed that provides proprietary plug-ins to Adobe Illustrator? If so, that may be the source of this Normalized PDF option. Maybe some other participant in the is forum knows more about that, but at Adobe, we don't (for better or worse).
You mention problems with file bloat due to “scaled images, effects, transparency, etc.” Are you referring to the Illustrator .AI files or to PDF files created from same? If the issue is the .AI file size, the only thing you can do to fix that is to uncheck the save as compatible PDF file option when saving .AI. In terms of PDF files from Adobe Illustrator:
(1) Scaled images should not add anything to a PDF file size unless you take such images and attempt to upres them in Photoshop prior to creating PDF. There really is no benefit to be achieved by such upresing of the images; any competent RIP can do that itself just as well as Photoshop.
(2) Transparency only adds to the PDF file size if you create PDF with transparency already flattened, or what I would better describe as ruined. Flattening transparency often causes large raster bitmaps and/or very complex groups of vector objects to be created to simulate transparency in an opaque imaging model (such as is supported by PostScript).
You obviously need to produce PDF that can be accommodated by the rest of your workflow. Since we don't know what that is and whether it conforms to current best industry practices, we cannot make an absolute recommendation for you.
However, generally speaking, the most reliable PDF print publishing workflow would generally require that you create PDF/X-4 using the PDF/X-4 PDF preset from Adobe Illustrator (or for that matter, from InDesign as well). PDF/X-4 supports full ICC color management (including spot colors), the entire PDF imaging model, and live transparency.

• Need help in creating multiple signature forms?

need help in creating multiple signature forms that can be digitally signed in adobe reader

Automator gets a bit unweildy when trying to vary things outside of what the actions provide. Since you are already using an AppeScript in your workflow, might as well do the whole thing:
set baseFolder to (path to desktop) -- the location to create the folder
display dialog "Please provide a new folder name:" default answer "test"
set folderName to text returned of the result
repeat -- keep repeating until a number is returned
display dialog "How many subfolders?" default answer "5"
set theNumber to text returned of the result
try -- test the result
set theNumber to theNumber as integer
exit repeat -- success
end try

tell application "Finder"
try -- make new folder
set newFolder to (make new folder at baseFolder with properties {name:folderName})

set newFolder to ((baseFolder as text) & folderName) as alias

• New to Indesign and need help on layout

Hi there
I have a small invitaiton business and have recently started using Indesign (steep learning curve). I have designed a wedding suite for a bride and it is ready to go off to the printers. My problem is i have recently changed printers and these guys print on size SRA3 and charge for set up costs if I dont supply all my setup in this size.
I dont know how to do this! Is there a simple way i can take my one invitation and place it multiple times on a SRA3 setup without copying and pasting. Plus all my crop marks and bleeds need to line up.
ANy help would be really appreciated.
thanks
Nerissa

I really did not want to say more about this but your attitude is ....
Who are you that you think you know every printers setup and requirements, who are you to say that a person must not go to there prefered printer for work.
What the hell does a car got to do with printing, NOTHING. Keep on topic!
You say modern workflow, so your saying every print shop in every town in every country has exactly the same equipment as your printer has and whats needed to handle your unprofessional approach to laying out graphics, wake up will ya every print house in every town can be different your arrogance in assuming every print house can reproduce your improperly prepared graphics is just going to cause trouble.
Refering back to the original post. I did not see the name of the printer they where sending the job to, do you know them personally to insist that your way is the best way to reproduce the job. NO!
You do not know them yet you jumped on my suggestion and it was only a suggestion that could lead to an idea for getting the job done. You called it BS yet every working day at my work I follow that sort of work flow for a number of reason. No it is not modern Yes it does work everyday.
You thinking that your way is the only way is no help to anyone in here.
This forum is for everyone, if I take the time to suggest something so be it, it is not your job to judge if my suggestion is wrong.
Be a help not a hinderance and keep your arrogance outta the forum.
P Taz:
Bob's main problem is this modern workflow chip on his shoulder, not everyone has the latest and greatest hardware and software. Adobe is printing longer then I care to think back on, and they have many different ways of doing this job and many of these are still in use. Modern is all fine and dandy if you have it.
I am not happy with using obsolete processes but that is what I have to work with. I absorb a lot that is said in these forums not all I can use yet but its good to see the changes in technology. Everyone as a designer has to keep in mind the Printshop that is printing there work
I never came in here with the intention to revert people, I only suggested a way to get a job done even you do not know what equipment the printer has to reproduce the OP problem. How in gods name can a suggestion be wrong for this forum even you have fallen for bob's inability to realise there are still people out in the real world not using the most modern workflow equipment and these people need help.
It is no good you just saying update update update. The job needs doing with what they have, later when money permits or whatever then talk to them about modern workflows.
And lastly goes out my appology to the original poster, I am very sorry this has gone as far as it has.
Bob... Lighten up!

• Project Server 2013: I am using Project Server Permission Mode and need help with permission assignments?

Hi
Project Server 2013: I am using Project Server Permission Mode and need help with permission assignments?
How can I change Permissions for the individual users to see specific projects or all projects in project center and to see specific quick launch items?
For Example: if i have 4 users, A, B, C and D. what i want is:
User A can see everything and act as a project manager or Admin.
User B can view all projects in project centre but can change the schedule or resource assignment etc.
User C can only act as approver of projects and can view all projects in project centre.
User D can only view specific projects for which permissions are given.
can i have some expert help in sorting and understanding permission modes... as i was playing with project server mode permissions and can't figure out how to apply the above scenario to set of my user.
Thanks in Advance
Cheers
AJ
Ajay Kumar

Hi Ajay,
Please refer to this link for detailed explanations about PS2013 security model.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197638(v=office.15).aspx
Actually, it will take a couple of days to explain in detail the security model that is a fundamental and tricky aspect of every PS implementation. But basically, you NEVER set permissions for a single user. You have groups in which your insert users. Groups
define "what users can do". Then you associate groups to a corresponding category. Categories define "what user can see". Thus the association of a group with a category will set "what the user can do on the objects he can see". Then, for more advanced security
level, you can use the RBS that will consist in "branches" in which you'll insert users. Based on those branches, you'll customize categories to fine-tune what user can see (for projects and resources) depending on the RBS branch and level.
I'd advice you to start "playing" in a test environment with the default categories/groups that might probably cover your need.
Concerning your 4 users:
user A : add him to the "administrator" group. Be careful that you're mentionning either project manager or administrator, which are 2 groups/categories with totally different permissions level.
user B : basically can see everything and change everything? it could be in the project manager group, assuming that there are no project visibility restrictions on the category via the RBS.
user C : waht do you mean by "approver"? Workflow approvals? Then it will be the portfolio manager group. Task update or timesheet approval? Then it is another long topic: please refer in the documentation to the "status manager" and "timesheet manager"
concepts. There are not related to the security model. In a few words, the status manager is the owner of the project plan, is defined for each task and approves tasks updates. The timesheet manager is an attribute defined for each resource in its parameters
and approves resource timesheet.
user D : you have to define which permission level must be given to this user. Basically it could be a team member that will see only projects he's in the project team. Note that team member cannot interact with the project plan in another way than submitting
timesheets and/or tasks updates which must be approved.
Once more, those are large and complex subjects that require a deep dive into your business model and tons of tests in a test environment.
Hope this helps.

• Desperately needs help burning DVD from iPhoto

I am using iPhoto 6.0.6. I desperately need help burning a DVD of a slide show that I created for my daughter's wedding.
I put several songs together by opening them and then combining them using QuickTime Pro. I imported the audio into iTunes and created a slide show using iPhoto. The slide show is perfect! The slides are finally in sink with the music just as I want them! But I don't know how to burn the slide show as a DVD.
I tried exporting the video from iPhoto to my computer, but at the end of the export, I get this message: please note that the music included in the slideshow can only be played on authorized machines. And when I try to play the video (after the export), most of the music on the video cannot be heard. When I try to authorize my machine, I am told that it's already authorized.
If someone would send detailed instructions on how to proceed, I would greatly appreciate it.
Greg

Is your problem the DRM audio tracks you purchased from iTunes store?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

• Need help w/ setting up ports to run a server for America's Army

Need help w/ setting up ports to run a server for America's Army. I read wat u need to change the ports but i dont understand wat to put. here is wat the site says
Q: How do I run my own server?
A: Quick and dirty server info:
1. Edit RunServer.bat to change the map.
2. Run RunServer.bat
Or:
server.exe LAN MAPNAME.aao (Host a LAN game)
server.exe global MAPNAME.aao (Host a Public game)
Also: When you create a server setup and want to allow other users to join your server, you need make sure the following ports are open for outgoing and incoming traffic in your firewall: 1716 (UDP), 1717 (UDP), 20025-20045 (TCP), and 20047 (TCP). Failure to open these ports will prevent the server from accepting connections from other players or prevent other players from being able to see your server online.
There are several settings that also need to be defined in your server configuration INI file (in the Windows version, these files are located in “My Documents\America’s Army Server Settings\{settings file name}.ini”).
[Engine.GameEngine]
ServerActors=Andromeda.AndromedaMBS
[Andromeda.Andromeda]
GameServerIp=
Make sure that you set the actual IP address of the America’s Army Server under GameServerIp= (for example, “GameServerIp=000.000.000.000”). The supplied address must be your actual internet IP address, if this is left blank or you supply the IP address for your internal network (such as 192.168.0.x), your server will not be able to accept connections from the internet.
If your server.ini file contains the setting shown below, please change the QueryPort setting to 20025. This setting can also be removed, as the default setting is port 20025.
[Andromeda.AndromedaMBS]
QueryPort=20025
Punkbuster user fix correction.
If [Engine.GameEngine] block has been changed to read as below:
[Engine.GameEngine]
ServerActors=IPDrv.AndromedaMBS
Please add the following block to your INI file:
[IpDrv.AndromedaMBS]
QueryPort=20025

Your images are not stored in the catalog. They are stored in folders on your computer. If you imported images that were already on your computer using the "Add" Option they are still in that same folder. If you imported images from your camera then they are in the folders that you specified when you imported. The catalog points to those images wherever they are located, and records all of the adjustments that you make to the image. When you send an image to Photoshop for further editing and save that image in Photoshop, it is normally saved back in the same folder as the original image.
Images are not "saved" in Lightroom. The basic default workflow in Lightroom is to store all of the adjustments in the catalog, leaving the original image completely unmodified. The catalog becomes the central controlling mechanism. It is a database that contains pointers to where the images are located and a record of all adjustments made to those images using Lightroom. Properly managed, you only have those original master files and secondary files for the ones that you have sent to Photoshop for further adjustment. When you want to provide a copy for someone else, you use the export dialogue for that purpose. I often export JPEG images to share with others or to post on the web. After I have usedthe JPEG for its intended purpose I delete it.

• Need help in automating batch placing of images on spreads

My workflow is :
I have jpeg files (mostly 100+).
They are the size of 2 pages (e.g. 1 spread per jpeg file)
I need to place them on either even or odd page (aligned Top-Left).
Currently I’m doing this work manually.
Need help to automate this.
Thanks and regards.

As I mentioned earlier I have very little experience with JavaScript.
I also copied the ImageCatalog script to a new file and read it atleast five times, and tried to wrap my head around the flow of execution.
The comments were really helpful in the process.

• Workflow script help

I am trying to write a couple of workflows in CRM OnDemand that will do the following:
1. Have the "Probability" automatically set itself to the proper percentage upon the creation of a new Account.
2. Have the "Probability" update itself as the record is modified and the "Pipeline Stage" changes
For instance I want the following percentages associated with the designated "Pipeline Stage"
IF "Pipeline Stage" = "1 - Qualifying", then "Probability" = 0%
IF 'Pipeline Stage" = "2 - Development of Offer" = 25%
IF 'Pipeline Stage" = "3 - Negotiation / Finalization" = 50%
IF 'Pipeline Stage" = "4 - DLL Selection" = 75%
IF 'Pipeline Stage" = "5 - Agreement Executed" = 100%
IF 'Pipeline Stage" = "6 - Disqualified Vendor" = 0%
IF 'Pipeline Stage" = " 7 - Lost Opportunity" = 0%
IF 'Pipeline Stage" = "8 - Vendor Approval" TBD
I need help actually writing these scripts so I know what they should look like upon entry. Can someone please help?

Hi RAZ2,
For the first point, if the value is fixed, you'll have to customize the probability field and set and publish a default value ("20" for example).
For the second point, you will have to create one workflow rule for each pipeline stage.
For each rule, the condition is that your pipeline stage field equals a value *([<SalesStage>]="1 - Qualifying"* for example)
For each rule, the action is to update the probability field with the value you chose.
Hope this will help, don't hesitate if you need more...
Maxime
