Creating a form with a field that contains a simple math problem.

I am creating a form in Acrobat 9 Standard that contains a field that requires a simple math function (divide).
if (QuantityRow1 > 0)
ExtensionRow1 / QuantityRow1
Take the value input in ExtensionRow1 and divide it by the value in QuantityRow1. I have included an IF statement to prevent an error that occur if QuantityRow1 were equal to zero.
After inputting the data into the two fields I tab past the field where I expect to see my result and the field remains blank. I don't receive any error messages.
Any ideas? Thanks - jb

  • How do I create a form with text fields that can continue to multiple pages with out it over lapping

    I have created a form in Livecycle and have made every object a sub field. But I am still having the same probably. The text field only continues on to a second page and overlaps the footer I have created at the bottom of the page. I am new to livecycle and have tried a lot of different things to fix this problem. Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    I've found this blog http://blogs.uoregon.edu/developments/2010/12/29/pdf-making-text-fields-grow-to-accommodat e-text/ and this example file : flowableTest.pdf? Is it close to what you search? I cannot go deeper into example now, but will.

  • How can I create a form with a button that adds a new page of fields to fill out?

    Hi,
    I have a one-page form created in Acrobat Pro 9 that contains five fields for a user to complete. I'd like to give the user the option of adding a page with the same five fields to fill out. The user finishes those fields, presses an "Add a Page" button, and then gets another page to fill out, and so on. When finished, their PDF form might be 10 pages long, at which point the user can save it as a single PDF file. Is this possible to do in Acrobat Pro 9 or 10, and if so, how?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    When I created a new template like you told me, I wasn't given the option to rename the fields. See screenshot below. I'm just given the option to add a new template. Changing it refers to changing the template to a different page.
    If you can show me how to have the fields renamed automatically or use the rename parameter, I think that should fix it.
    Under Tools>JavaScript>Document JavaScripts, I've added a Script named "PackagingArtwork".
    // Here is the code
    function PackagingArtwork()
    {this.createTemplate({cName: "PackagingArtwork", nPage: 5});
    // Here the code that spawns the template
    var PackagingArtworkArray = this.templates;
              var PackagingArtwork = PackagingArtworkArray[0];
              PackagingArtwork.spawn(this.numPages, false, false);
    This is what the JS debugger said.

  • Creating a form with radio buttons that users can fill, save, and e-mail back

    Hi all,
    I am new here, so please forgive me if this answer has already been answered. I have been looking around and still have not been able to find an answer.
    I have created a pdf in InDesign and opened it in Acrobat to create a form out of that existing PDF. The form needs to contain radio buttons and text fields. When I save it to test it out on Adobe Reader (for the typical user), it says that I am only allowed to save it in its original form (without any of the changes) thereby making this form useless (I do not want users to print it out; I'd like them to email the entire PDF back to me).
    I've looked online and found some answers saying that I would just need to enable commenting, but when I tried that, I could no longer select any of the radio buttons in Adobe Reader.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.
    I'm on a Mac using Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional.

    You won't see that in 7. It didn't exist until Acrobat 8. Though It would work with PDF's opened by Reader 7.
    The only choice you have is connacting someone at Adob coporate and finding out how to sign up to a Service they have that will llow you to do that.
    Caution: its very, very expensive and unless  your fortune 1000 company you can't afford it.
    OR you could upgrade to Acrobat 10 (if you have a Machine capable of running it - Intel Only) or Acrobat 9 (PPC and INTEL).
    Note the feature they speak of only allows for 500 instances of any one PDF set up to do so.

  • Creating fillable forms with Live Cycle that can be emailed, saved, printed, etc. by anyone!

    So I started using livecycle because the forms one can make are astounding, its a great program except for sending the forms out to be filled in especially to those only with reader. I've looked over a lot of past discussions and the answers seemed too complicated. Here is a workaround for not so computer savy folks like myself.
    First, create your form, use everything the software has to offer to make your form exactly like you want and yes you can use the "submit by email button" that's what it's for.
    Second, once the form is complete one seemingly complicated step to fix the "attach as pdf instead of xml" if your form keeps attaching as "xml" if it already attaches as "pdf" then skip the rest of the "second step"
         go to the top and click the "view" menu, then select "xml source"
         then go back to top and click the "edit" menu then select "find"
         type "xml" without the quotations and keep clicking "find next" until you see the "submit" line (eg. <submit format="xml")
         change the "xml" to "pdf"then go back to the "design view column" if you get a "parts of this or that cannot be whatever" message just click ok or ignore
    Third, assumming you used the "submit by email" button like you should be the find that button and click the center somewhere, too the right a "field" box comes up
         enter your own email address, you can enter an stock email subject to or leave it blank
         also, a bit further down it says "presence" then "visible" I like to change "visible" to "visible (screen only)" this way it does not show on the printed version. That is one of the things i like the most about this program, you can put text boxes, signature boxes, any kind of
              box and make it visible, visible only on print, only on screen, etc. you just have to play around. It's nice to put a large text box with instructions for how the person should fill out and what to do that helps them and doesn't show up on print.
    Ok, the above is a lot of words but if you print it out and follow step by step you'll see how easy it is and after a couple runs you won't have to look at your cheat sheet again.
    Fourth, So, it was easy to figure out how to make a form the frustrating part was sending it out to be filled in save, printed whatever then sent back to me (now you). the problem is, the form has to be distributed to be approved so to speak. If it is just for one person that is no big
         deal, just first click "file" "save as" give it a name it reverts into adobe pro and asks how you would like to distribute, follow the instructions you send it to whomever you like they fill it out and submit it back because your email address is linked to the "submit as
         email" button. But what if its just a form you want on the company share drive anyone can open fill out, save, send to you or send to someone else, that's where it's tricky.
    Fifth, Distributing to yourself so you can approve the form for world wide dissemination.
         Same procedure as above for the single recipient but instead of sending to someone else you send it back to yourself by entering your own email address again when it asks "how would you like to distribute your form--same as above"
         click "send now via email" enter your address they will return it to (but it's not they this time its really yourself)...follow the instructions, specifiy a generic folder that will collect data (you can delete later, you don't have to collect data unless you want)
         put in your email address as the recipient. change the stock email subject and message if you'd like, then click done, it will email you the form. close out the live cycle and adobe programs and go to your inbox (may take a min)
    Sixth, open your attachment.(no remember you submitted the form to yourself but think of yourself as someone else like a customer) when the form is open you can enter stock fields if you like or do nothing...click the submit by email button, follow the instructions and s
         send it back to yourself again (don't get confused...it's really you as the customer sending back to yourself as the owner of the form) if you are a criminal think of it as like "laundering money through a bank" you are laundering the form through your own email system
         close out the form and go to your inbox again an open the returned form. now when you open it there is something new. there is a box that says "this file is a completed form (even though you didn't enter any data---it's a laundered form now) and leave it on the
         "add to existing data set" which is the one you created earlier in the generic folder....click "ok", now the form changes once again, there is a new look to the top, don't worry about it just go to the top right of the form and click on "options" then "save file as" give it
         a name again and remember where you saved it to. then close adobe and say yes when it asks you if "you want to save changes to your data set"....say yes!!
    7th, forget the data set, no longer is important...find the form you saved and open it. go to the top and click the "advanced" button then "enable user rights in adobe reader" then click "save now" this is the final form so name it appropriately and place it where you want
         people to find it, they can now open, fill out, print, save as, email, whatever. The only downside is if they use the submit by email it automatically defaults to your email but when their email client opens they can delete your address and put someone else if they want.
    thats it...lots of words but it really is easy after you do it a couple of time. the final downside, if the final form works but you decide to change anything on it with LiveCycle, you have to go back through all the steps or it will tell whoever opens it in reader that the original
         has change and they cannot do anything with it, but it's ok, make your changes or improvement, by now you are an expert at laundering live cycle forms, take you 5 min, no worries!
    Happy Laundering!!
    Sean

  • How do I create a form with fixed fields for clients to complete?

    I want to create a form in pages that I can then save as a pdf to load on my website so my clients can download and fill in the fields without messing with the overall formate of the sheet.

    Sorry, not sure I am clear. I want a form w/ name, address, etc.  I want to be able to send it as an email to people to fill out and also load it to my website for people to download, fill out, and email back to me.
    My concern is I there are fields that they can write sentences and I want to control how much they write so it doesn't mess up the formatting when I go to print.
    thanks

  • Is there an Adobe product for creating fillable forms with the answers that will automatically populate a document?

    I am trying to create a template of questions with fillable fields of answers that would be supplied by the reader.  These answers would then automatically populate a document for the user.  Does Adobe have a product that will do this?

    Photoshop can import PDF files and you can draw anything you want on them.  I'm sure you could make a professional looking result, though it may take more time than you want.  You might want to describe a bit more about what you're doing on one of the Photoshop forums and see if people there think it's a good fit.

    I created a form with Single Choice fields, 4 days with times listed. But, I want the user to only be able to choose one time, and the time chosen to be unavailable for other users. How do I do this? I have 4 blocks of Single Choice fields in order for the summary page to give me each day in the final report. But, I need the user to be able to make a selection of any day and time and that apointment to no longer be available to future users when they log in. Plus, when the user clicks on the time, they are unable to change their mind and choose another time. Here's the link if you want to see what I'm talking about: 2015-2016 Workload Apportionment Review

    I'm afraid not.    It's not rocket science but you need to do some coding.
    You'll need to find a script (php) and save it to your local site folder.  Then reference the script in your form's action attribute like so.
         <form action="path/form-to-email-script.php" >
    The input fields in your HTML form need to exactly match the script variables.
    I'm  assuming you're hosted on a Linux server which uses PHP code.  Linux servers are also case sensitive, so upper case names are not the same as lower case names.  It's usually best to use all lower case names in your form and script to avoid confusion.

  • Is it possible to create a form with multiple form fields on a single line?

    Is it possible to create a form with multiple form fields on a single line?  I can't find anything in the documentation or a template that does this.
    I am trying to create a "documents received" checklist with a check box on the left margin, a date-received field to the right of the check box and and a description of the document (Formatted Text) on the far right.
    In the past I have entered the Fixed Text with a word processor, published it to a PDF file, then added the check box and date fields with the Acrobat Forms editor.  I would prefer to use FormsCentral if it is possible.

    We now support multiple fields on one line. This post provides a brief overview.
    Give it a try and send us your feedback.
    Sorry it took so long.

  • How can I allow the application to line through a field that has been locked after being digitally signed?  We have multiple sections on a form with some fields being proposed information and other in another section having the approved information. once

    How can I allow the application to line through a field that has been locked after being digitally signed?
    We have multiple sections on a form with some fields being proposed information and other in another section having the approved information. once the approved information is entered we line through the proposed field so the data entry clerk won't pick up the wrong information.  However we are receiving an error when attempting to enter data  in the field which we have this edit.  Error property: line through cannot be set because doing so would violate the document permission setting.  any idea how we can get around this issue?

    You can control which fields are locked down after signing by setting up a collection. Then those that are not locked can be changed after signing. If this is not possible, then the line outs must occur prior to signing.

  • Search for  a big varchar2 field that contains specific string

    Hi to all,
    I've created a table with VARCHAR2 column and size of 4000 and a CONTEXT index for it. I use this SQL statement to search for a field that contains a specific word:
    SELECT text_body
    FROM my_table
    WHERE CONTAINS(text_body,'my_word')>0;
    this goes so well in SQL plus, so how can I implement this in my form?
    Thanks.

    Dear Craig,
    I installed forms 10g R2 ,besides I corrected a fault in the LOOP syntax.Thanks, The code now is correct with the function CONTAINS. but when I run my form and push the button, my form takes lots of time and return two errors:
    frm-41839 "Disc I/O error on temporary record buffer file%s".
    and frm-40900 "Unable to locate record buffer. Clear form to continue".
    the second error occurs due to memory low space I think.
    Dear Morgan,
    You are totally right with the function INSTR, but I use the function CONTAINS as it has large capabilities in my search. I even use CTXCAT index instead of CONTEXT index ,with function CATSEARCH but the problem still exists. All of the previous ways run better in SQL but not in forms(without cursor). Suppose I'm wrong with this technique. Is there another way to make such a search?!
    This is the new code:
    DECLARE
         CURSOR cc IS
    SELECT *
    FROM my_table
    WHERE CONTAINS(MY_TEXT_FIELD,'first_word AND second_word')>0;
    copy_cc my_table%rowtype;
    BEGIN
         OPEN cc;
         FETCH cc INTO copy_cc;
              LOOP
              :FORM_TEXT_FIELD:=copy_cc.my_text_field;
         EXIT WHEN cc%notfound;
              NEXT_RECORD;
              END LOOP;
              CLOSE cc;
    END;
    Regards.

  • What are the security settings to lock down a form with fillable fields and yet allow someone with Reader to fill in the fields as will as save the form and print it?

    What are the security settings to lock down a form with fillable fields and yet allow someone with Reader to fill in the fields as will as save the form and print it?

    You want to allow someone to open your document and fill out the form (in the fields you have created), but not change or edit the form, right? Here's the answer - assuming you are using Acrobat Pro and someone will be opening the PDF using at least Acrobat Reader 9 and up:
    Tools > Protection > Encrypt < Encrypt with Password
    Answer YES to change the security.
    A new window opens:
         Do NOT select Document Open (or that will require a password to open the document.)
         Select: Permissions (Check the box next to "Restrict editing and printing of the document.")
         Change the following 2 settings from the drop-down box:
              Printing Allowed: Select High Resolution
              Changes Allowed: Select Commenting, filling in form fields, and signing signature fields
              Leave selected: "Enable text access for screen reader devices for the visually impaired"
              Change Permissions Password (insert a strong password)
              Leave all other settings alone in "Options"
              OK - OK
              Re-enter the Permissions Password (the one you entered above)
              OK - OK
              Save the PDF to apply the security [notice that (SECURED0 will appear after the document title]

  • Troubles creating a form with Acrobat

    I have created a form with Acrobat 9 Pro. However, when it is brought up with Acrobat Reader, the following message appears:
    Sending data files by email: Please note, this form contains an email submit button. Clicking this button will email a data file... However, the form itself will not be sent. Remember you cannot save a complete file of this form with Adobe Reader 9.
    When the submit button is clicked, the following message is posted on a popup window.
    Operation not permitted.
    Here's the link to a form I am trying to get to work. It works fine if I use the Pro version, but the Reader version doesn't want to allow the form to be sent. http://www.drugfreedekalbcounty.info/pdf/interventionscholarshipform.pdf
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    It may have been improved with AA9, but at least up through AA8, Acrobat required the use of MAPI on the machine to deal with e-mail. If that has changed, then the other recommendation to use extended rights might meet your need. There is a 500 use limitation for the extended rights (more requires negotiation with Adobe). This may be a limitation that changed with AA9 Pro Extended.
    The rights are not needed if the data file is sent and not the whole PDF. There is no need for the whole PDF since the data file can be opened in the original form document - giving the same result. Your observation that it works in AA9 for e-mail is making the assumption that everyone uses AA9. That is a dangerous assumption if you are developing a general use form. You should assume folks have back to AA7, or even AA5 (like I have on this machine). There are still a few that check in here on occasions with AA4. I have not seen an AA3 question for several years. Thus backward compatibility may be an issue, depending on your client base.
    The cleanest way to work with forms is to submit to a web script. Then there is no question about the end result. The use of web scripts is even recommended for online html forms for much the same reasons. I was giving a heads up so that you have considered possible users that do not have the newest and best, assuming that the latter resolves the e-mail issue.

  • I've created a PDF form using Adobe acrobat. I created the forms from a PDF that I made using pages

    I've created a PDF form using Adobe acrobat. I created the forms from a PDF that I made using pages and word on Mac running Mountain lion. How do I allow the user of the form to insert JPEG files when filling out the form and how do I allow the user to add more fields or groups of fields as needed.

    The type of form yo're describing is possible if you create it in LiveCycle Designer. It may also be possible in Acrobat, but there are certain restrictions. The type of form is known as a dynamic XFA form. LiveCycle Designer is not available on the Mac, so you'd have to install the software on a Windows machine and learn how to create this type of form. The LiveCycle Designer forum here is a good resource for getting more help.
    Reader 11 now supports creating new pages using templates with a form that you create in Acrobat (Acroform). This requires some JavaScript programming. It also adds support for using a button to display a page from a PDF, which can be an image or anything else a PDF can be. So the user would click a button, be prompted to import a page from an existing PDF, and the button (or a different button) displays it as its icon. This would require the user to convert the image to PDF first, which is relatively easy these days (e.g., using Preview on the Mac, or Word on Mac/Windows). This too involves a bit of JavaScript programming, but it's very simple and straightforward.

  • How to create a form with DW CS3?

    Hi all,
    I want to create a form to gather email, address information on a website. Question, can I do that using
    DW CS3? and what else do I need in order to do that? I know there is more to it than just creating a form
    with fields, that there is programing behind it. I use 1 and 1.com for my hosting.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You'll need a form to email processing script.  Ask your host if they provide one you can use.  If not and your server supports PHP, I highly recommend this one from DB Masters.  It is safe, secure and with good spam prevention built in.
