Creating a Left Navigation Layout Similar to Oracle Instant Portal

I am a new user of Oracle AS Portal and have started to use AS Portal after I first warmed up using Oracle Instant Portal. Using Oracle AS Portal, I would like to create a left navigation layout using similar to Oracle Instant Portal that allows the content manager to add "pages" to the left navigation and create a corresponding page on the middle region of the top level page. Does anyone have any ideas on how to go about doing this in Oracle AS Portal?

Hi,
I guess, you will have to code a portlet to do that job for you, but in the mean time you could try looking at the Site Indexing Portlet on POINT page (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/point.html
thanks,
Harsha

    I am a new user of Oracle AS Portal. Is there a way to add functionality in Oracle AS Portal whereby users can easily add an item or region to a Favorites list (similar to Oracle Instant Portal)? If so, how?

    Sorry - this functionality is not built into Oracle Portal as any type of default behavior.

    but i get the following error when i create page through this page layout
    "Content Place holders are only allowed in master page"
    Can anyone tell me how do i insert left navigation in page layout which is created through sharepoint designer (.aspx file) but master page is created through design manager

    Hi  ,
    As the error says, you need to  add Content Place holders to Mater Page not the Page Layout.
    For  inserting  left navigation, you can add Vertical Navigation SharePoint component to the master page using Snippets  manager:
    1.
    Open the site then click design manager link from right top corner "Settings".
    2.
    Click “Edit Master Pages” link.
    3.Click your custom mater page. It will open preview page.
    4.
    Once open the preview page then click Snippets menu from top right side. It will open “Snippet Gallery” in new tab page.
    5.
    Click the Vertical Navigation menu item in “DESIGN “tab.
    6.
    In this page we can easy to configure component properties.
    After customization must click the update button then only the changes are reflected in the component snippet.
    7.
    Once click the update button the HTML code automatically generated in the “HTML snippet” box and click “Copy to Clipboard” button.
    8.
    Open the mapped network drive then open the Mater Page HTML file and paste HTML snippet where you want the navigation to show.

  • Creating security similar to Oracle Apps

    We have an application that has security similar to Oracle Apps. i.e. maintaining the users and roles (responsibilities) within our application. Discoverer has a special login mechanism for Oracle Apps users. Is there a way to configure Discoverer to work with other application which has similar secuirity mechanism?

    Hi Maruthi
    I'm afraid I have no documentation to point you at because this was done for a specific client and I have just not had the time to put together some generic documents. I can't use the client's documents because that would be unethical and has pictures of their data.
    Nevertheless, here is an overview.
    1. Look at all of the Oracle base tables and determine which ones have one of the following: ORG_ID, Set of Books ID (SOB_ID) or Chart of Accounts ID (COA_ID).
    2. Look at the same tables and run some scripts such as this: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM TABLE
    3. For all such tables that have more than say 200,000 rows add one partition for each ORG_ID, SOB_ID or COD_ID
    4. As you know, when a user logs in using an Apps account, the system sets a SYS_CONTEXT variable identifying the ORG_ID that user has access to. This is fine for tables that have an ORG_ID, but for those which only have a SOB_ID or COA_ID you can't use the ORG_ID. Therefore, what you do is create a new table, let's call it ORG_ORGANIZATIONS, that links an ORG_ID with its associated SOB_ID and COA_ID. The table is indexed on the ORG_ID.
    5. Create one function per type, thus one for ORG_ID, SOB_ID and COA_ID.
    For ORG_ID - function named 'DP_ORG_SECFUNC, the heart of the function is:
    select substr(userenv('CLIENT_INFO'),1,5) into x_org_id from dual;
    v_statement := 'ORG_ID = '||x_org_id;
    return (v_statement);
    For SOB_ID - function named 'DP_SOB_SECFUNC, the heart of the function is:
    select substr(userenv('CLIENT_INFO'),1,5) into x_org_id from dual;
    SELECT SET_OF_BOOKS_ID INTO v_set_of_books_id
    FROM ORG_ORGANIZATIONS WHERE ORG_ID = x_org_id;
    v_statement := 'SET_OF_BOOKS_ID = '||v_set_of_books_id;
    return (v_statement);
    For COA_ID - function named 'DP_COA_SECFUNC, the heart of the function is:
    select substr(userenv('CLIENT_INFO'),1,5) into x_org_id from dual;
    SELECT SET_OF_BOOKS_ID INTO v_chart_of_accounts_id
    FROM ORG_ORGANIZATIONS WHERE ORG_ID = x_org_id;
    v_statement :='CHART_OF_ACCOUNTS_ID = '||v_chart_of_accounts_id;
    return (v_statement);
    6. Create a view for each table you want to protect. For example, here is the code that creates a view for AP_INVOICES_ALL
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW DV_AP_INVOICES_ALL
    AS SELECT * FROM AP_INVOICES_ALL ;
    SHOW ERRORS
    EXEC DBMS_RLS.ADD_POLICY('APPS', 'DV_AP_INVOICES_ALL', 'SecByOrg', 'APPS', 'DP_ORG_SECFUNC', 'SELECT');
    Notice how this view is being protected by a policy that when anyone runs a SELECT against this view a VPD policy kicks in and calls the ORG security function.
    7. Change all of your code that Discoverer is pointing at to use new views similar to the above.
    I hope this helps
    Best wishes

  • Create a blank page without custom master page applied,left navigation,top navigation

    hi,
     i am having a requirement where in i need to a  show a report- which is actually a  3rd party tool's custom web part -. this web part is a report which has lot of metadata. so customer doesnt want to see the custom master page
    or left navigation, top navigation, right nav in this page.
    is it possible to achieve a  blank  web part page that doesnt have custom master page applied- i mean  this page should not inherit the my custom master page- and just add the custom web part here.
    help is appreciated!
    Das

    Hi
    3 ways.
    1.use a blank page using sharepoint designer
    2. remove applied master page for an existing page
    3 use &isdlg=1 on your URL ( to hide the top of the master page elements )
    http://domain/path/page.aspx&isdlg=1

  • Adding a Left Navigation in the place of Current navigation in SharePoint 2013 Site.

    Hi All,
    I have successfully converted an HTML Page to a SharePoint 2013 Master Page. I also created a Custom Page Layout. Using both them I have created my SharePoint Site with 30+ pages. Each page is consisted with the Top Header Navigation as it is inheriting
    from the Master Page I have used. Now I need the left navigation inherit from the master page also. It gives me the advantage of updating it from the master page and affects it through the entire SharePoint Site.
    But at the moment I am inserting the Left Nav using a web part as an HTMl code snippet individually for each and every page. If needs a modification I have to go through all the pages and do the modification. This is not convenient also. I want to this left
    nav like the SharePoint Current Navigation alternative but within my Page Layout.
    Is there an option to chat within these forums?
    Could someone help me to solve this problem?
    Thanks and regards,

    Hi Chiranthaka,
    Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
    Since
    this forum is to discuss: Visual
    Studio WPF/SL Designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System, and Visual Studio Editor.
    Based on your issue,
    it is more related to the sharepoint, so I’m afraid that
    it is not the correct forum for this issue.
    In addition, I find that you have been posted this issue in this SharePoint forum:

    so we will merge this case to the above case, I think that the SharePoint expert will follow up your issue.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • SharePoint 2013 Blog Site not showing current navigation(Left Navigation)

    I have created a blog site but blog pages are not showing my current navigation, it has got its own left navigation, Can i show left (current) navigation? I am trying to find the page layout being used for blog items but unable to find.

    Hi,
    By design, there is a left navigation in the blog site. Like the following image show.
    Please check whether there is CSS style in site to hide the left navigation.
    If you don’t want to use the default navigation, we can also customize a new one.
    We can use SharePoint designer 2013 to modify it(In /_catalogs/masterpage/seattle.master ).

    Hi,
    In your HTML Page Layout, is your "current navigation" in its own content place holder, such as "PlaceHolderLeftNavBar" or did you add the current nav to the "PlaceHolderMain"?
    Can you add CSS that hides the left nav found in each content page so that you do not have to manually remove the left nav? Then you could simply add the current nav back into the Master Page.

  • SharePoint 2013---How to convert current left Navigation into tree view

    Hi All,
    I want to convert current left navigation into tree view in SharePoint 2013. When we click on Modify Navigation and set headers and links; I need that should be convert into tree view. All headers should be expandable to thier links.
    I just want tree view on navigation headers and links. not for all site and subsites which we can enabled from site settings --> Modify All Site settings --> Tree view
    Please help me Master Page editing on Navigation Generation.. Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Anna

    Hi Anna,
    If you want to replace the Quick Launch part with the custom treeview web part in master page, you can comment out or remove the quick launch code block "<!--SPM:<SharePoint:SPNavigationManager id="QuickLaunchNavigationManager.....>....<>-->",
    then insert the custom web part snippet code in proper location in seattle master page, then all pages inheriting the seattle master page will have this web part.
    Note, please back up the master page before customizing the original master page for recovery.

    Hi,
    The Navigation control can be added into your HTML page in the Snippet Gallery:

  • How hide hr from left navigation (snippet) on custom master page

    Hi,
    I have create a custom master page and add it the left navigation snippet, after making some css customization, I'm unable to hide the <hr> tag.
    This is one of my tries on the .css file
    #DeltaPlaceHolderLeftNavBar > hr {
    clear: both !important;
    border: 0px solid transparent !important;
    height: 0px !important;
    visibility:hidden !important;
    Regards.

    I can't really see the right id in the screenshot, but something like this should work:
    #DeltaPlaceHolderLeftNavBar > hr {
    display:none;
    or
    #sideNaveBox hr {
    display:none;
    maybe even display:none!important;
    Even better trying to remove the hr from the snippet.
    Good luck!

  • Creating a grid-like layout

    Previously, I posted a problem with trying to wrap tables within tables, referencing this code.
    <!-- ... -->
    <tableLayout>
      <contents>
        <rowLayout>
          <contents>
            <bc4j:viewObjectScope name="CustomArrayDataGraphsView">
              <bc4j:rowStamp>
                <cellFormat>
                  <contents>
                    <tableLayout>
                      <contents>
                        <rowLayout>
                          <contents>
                            <link
                                  styleClass="OraHeaderSub"
                                  targetFrame="display">
                              <boundAttribute
                                              name="text">
                                <bc4j:attrValue name="AnalysisParam"/>
                              </boundAttribute>
                              <boundAttribute

              </bc4j:rowStamp>
            </bc4j:viewObjectScope>
          </contents>
        </rowLayout>
      </contents>
    </tableLayout>
    <!-- ... -->The above code renders a single row of elements which are tables themselves. Using the <cellFormat> inside the <viewObjectScope> avoids the "new line" rendering of the internal tables of title/images. However, the internal tables do not wrap.
    This is an unfortunate side-effect of html tables. So, I need to basically make a sizeable grid (similarly to a GridLayout for all you AWT/Swing folks out there) layout that can render a specified number of columns per table, creating new rows as necessary. Something like...
    <gridLayout columns="5">
      <contents>
        <bc4j:viewObjectScope                                 name="CustomArrayDataGraphsView">
          <bc4j:rowStamp>
            <cellFormat>
              <contents>
                <!-- render something per row -->
              </contents>
            </cellFormat>
          </bc4j:rowStamp>
        </bc4j:viewObjectScope>
      </contents>
    </gridLayout>This custom layout will render a maximum of five columns of data per table row, where each column is actually a row of information from the view object.
    Is this possible using UIX components or should I start coding?
    Thanks,
    joe

    Also, displaying a bunch of "inline"ed tables would be really useful. I can't seem to do this from within a <header>, <hideShowHeader> tag, even with explicitly coding:
      <bc4j:viewObjectScope name="CustomArrayDataGraphsView">
        <bc4j:rowStamp>
          <bc4j:attrScope name="Graph">
            <contents>
                  <html:table style="display: inline">
                    <html:tr>
                      <html:td>
                        <styledText text="Title"/>
                      </html:td>
                    </html:tr>
                    <html:tr>
                      <html:td>
                        <styledText text="Image"/>
                      </html:td>
                    </html:tr>
                  </html:table>
    <!--
                  <tableLayout styleClass="display: inline" width="300">
                    <contents>
                      <rowLayout>
                        <contents>
                          <styledText text="Title"/>
                        </contents>
                      </rowLayout>
                      <rowLayout>
                        <contents>
                          <styledText text="Image"/>
                        </contents>
                      </rowLayout>
                    </contents>
                  </tableLayout>
            </contents>
          </bc4j:attrScope>
        </bc4j:rowStamp>
      <!-- render a "No Records Found" message -->
        <contents>
          <styledText
                      text="No Records Found"
                      styleClass="OraErrorText">
            <boundAttribute
                            name="rendered">
              <if>
                <comparison
                            type="lessThan">
                  <bc4j:viewObjectProperty name="estimatedRowCount"/>
                  <fixed
                         javaType="int">1</fixed>

                <fixed
                       javaType="boolean">true</fixed>
                <fixed
                       javaType="boolean">false</fixed>
              </if>
            </boundAttribute>
          </styledText>
        </contents>
      </bc4j:viewObjectScope>Apparently, the header tags do something which effects the display of "inline"ed elements, like the tables in the previous example. Any suggestions? I know taking out of the header works great, but, the <hideShowHeader> functionality is particularly necessary.
    I have a time constraint on this... gotta be done by today, so if you have any other later minute suggestions besides creating a grid-like layout, let me know!
    Thanks,
    Joe

  • How to create links in navigation tabs?

    This is probably a silly question.  In the other template I use, (which is a spry asset, and this is likely the difference), I select the area and the "properties" area below becomes available, and I can create the link.
    These particular tabs don't do that . . . how can I link them to other pages in the site?
    http://asptfacultycaucus.info/#
    Thanks for any help!
    Pamela

    Jtanna,
    this seems to have totally fixed the navigation problem.  I was very careful to use the code you suggested, and not delete or add anything else.
    However, I HAVE goofed something up in getting the stylesheet saved to the directory.  Now when I open the index and other pages in DW, they do not appear to be "connected" to a stylesheet!  When I click on "stylesheet.css" in the menu tabs, I get this dialogue in yellow:  " 'stylesheet.css' cannot be found.  If the file exists on the server, use the Files panel to get the file from the server."
    The file exists right in the directory under local files in DW.  It exists in the "publish" folder.
    I'm afraid to make further changes . . . and client is getting cranky . . . help?
