Creating a new swatch palette

I can't find this in the Help or Manual, so can anyone help me with this please?
In Photoshop CS5, how can I create a new custom swatch palette for a project I'm working on?  I'd like to create a blank palette that I can add my own named swatches to, and load as needed.
Of course, then the question is:  what's the name of PS's default palette, so I can bring it back when I move on to other things?

To make your own custom swatches palette, edit the default one you have. From the swatches flyout menu choose >> save swatches.
Then use load swatches to load these into other projects.

    I created a swatch, used it to make a large composite pattern.  I can't find the paths.  They are needed so that
    a laser cutter can follow them for production.  What am I missing?

    Try selecting everything with the pattern and use Expand (or Expand Appearance, which ever is available) from the object menu. You might need to cleanup quite a lot depending on how you constructed the paths in the original pattern tile.

    I believe you can do it in the Presets Manager.

  • InDesign CC swatch palette issues when creating a new color or updating a current color...

    InDesign CC has crashed on me three times in a row and still won't fix it's problem...EVEN AFTER my computer and all the programs were shut down overnight! I was in the swatch palette to create a new swatch. I had a current one selected to base the new one off of. I went under "create new swatch," the palette came up, my mouse auto-scrolled when I clicked and it landed on "DIC color." Now, the DIC fields won't disappear even when I'm in CMYK or RGB. And when I try to change it to CMYK or RGB or the color values, it crashes InDesign. When I load it back up, the problem still exists. How do I reset it???

  • Create new swatch using Guassian Blur

    Hello
    I am trying to create a new swatch pattern that repeats consistently (see diagram below)
    I create a assemble four (6pt by 6pt squares) together and then colour them in approproiately. I guassian blur at 1.5pt each square. I add a base colour background in a square of 12pt by 12pt and then put a 12pt by 12pt invisible bounding box behind all this. I then drag to the swatch panel to create my new swatch.
    Problem is that when I try to colour in a larger square with this patter I get harsh lines ... see the example. Would love thoughts on how to get around this

    Nah, don't create the seams at the edges of the squares but more in a flower shape with one of the squares in the middle and the others surrounding it as ahlf squares.

    When in labview bring up the control pallete and tack it down. Next hit the button beside the search key at the top. Then hit edit palletes. You can then start a new setup if you'd like.

    I created this custom swatch palette which allows a person to keep swatch info in this palette and instantiate it in documents.  The palette can store notes about a particular swatch and there is a save button somewhere which will save your palette state as an xml file.

  • CS5.1: How do I create a new "User Defined" swatch palette.

    CS5.1: Under "Swatch Libraries" window, "User Defined" is grayed out, so I can't access my personal swatch palette. I have the data to recreate it, but do not find a "new palette" selection.

    Thank you Monika. Your response led me to what appears to be success. I opened an existing file that had my swatch palette embedded in it, then selected "Save Swatch Library as AI", giving it the name of my swatch palette. That palette now appears under "User Defined".

  • Custom color-palette keeps becoming read-only and will not let me add new swatches

    I need to make a custom colour palette for work that i can open on different adobe programs, share with others and add new swatches to as I go. I create a custom palette, save it a custom name but whenever I re-open it, it has become a read-only palette and I can no longer add custom swatches to it. How do I get around this problem if I need to keep adding colours to my custom palettes?

    In case you need to keep swatches from the ASE:
    create a new document
    empty the swatches panel
    add all the swatches from the ASE into that document's swatches panel
    add new colors as swatches
    from the swatches panel's menu select "save library"

  • Creating a New Layer Using Icons in Adjustment Palette

    When creating a new layer using the icons in the adjustments palette and holding ALT in CS5 a dialog box would appear before creating the new layer.  At this point you could rename the layer change the blending mode etc.
    In CS6 I do not get the dialog box to appear the new layer is just created.  I've tried to reset my preference twice and this has not help. Any ideas?

    In CS6 and CS5, the dialog will appear if you Alt-click the black and white circle at bottom of Layers panel then pick an Adj Lyr from the menu, as Noel said.

    Suddenly, I am no longer able to create a process swatch by clicking on "new Swatch" on the swatch menu swatch. When I click this
    window comes up and the PMS list is over the procees color boxes and i cant input anything. To work around I have been creating the Process colors and them dragging them to the swatch palatte, but this is annoying. Any Idea how to fix this problem?

  • [JS][CS3] Create new swatch

    Hi all,
    I'm writing a script that reads an xml file and then converts the contents to InDesign Objects.
    Most of this I can do, but I'm having problems with the colors and swatches in InDesign.
    Simple said, what I'm trying to do is the following:
    1. Create a rectangle on my document
    2. Create a new Color Swatch with CMYK values
    3. Use the swatch for the rectangle's fillColor or strokeColor
    Using Javascript I can add new colors tot my document: myDoc.colors.add()
    But I can't use this color for the fillColor or strokeColor properties, it says they it needs to be a swatch, and not a color.
    Unfortunately, the method myDoc.swatches.add() doesn't exist, and I can't set a colorValue property to a swatch.
    Does anybody know how to do this? I'm guessing there's a simple solution for this, but I'm just not seeing it.

    I breaked my head trying to find what was the difference between your code and mine, but now I see:
    Instead of using myDoc.colors, I used app.colors, which returns an error if you try to use that color for a rectangle, textframe, etc.

  • Creating a new pattern swatch

    I'm working on a script that should, among other things, create a new pattern swatch from a groupItem in the document.
    I managed to create the new pattern swatch and name it using:
    myNewPatternSwatch = app.activeDocument.patterns.add();
    myNewPatternSwatch.name = <the_swatch_name>;
    The only thing I can't figure out is how to get my groupItem into the new pattern swatch.
    Any idea?

    I don't think you can… Sorry it's not very helpful… Patterns were the sure way to crash a script too although I have not tried in CS5…

  • New Pantone colors not showing up in the Pantone swatches palette!

    There are new colors in the most recent Pantone books that we are not seeing in the available color swatches within Illustrator CS4.
    Is this because the new swatches are only included in the newest version of Illustrator (CS5)?
    Can we get an update so the new PMS colors are available in the Illustrator color palette within CS4?

    I'm not sure about the timing of CS5 and Pantone's latest color release.  Try pantone.com and look for "software" or "downloads".  I believe the latest release is available for a price, depending on what you are looking for.

    I want to create a new condition type to order material palets (like LP02) but I need to calculate a discount in % for entire palets only.
    By example:
    A discount of 5% for each completed palets.
    I order 1 palet for 100euros, I want a discount of 5 euros, and final price is 95euros.
    I order 1,5 palets for 150 euros, I want a discount of 5 euros and final price is 145 euros (100-5% + 50) and not 142,5euros (150-5%).
    I order 2 palets for 200 euros, I want a discount of 10 euros and final price is 190euros
    I tried with a fixed amount calculation type and it works fine, I have a discount only for entire palets. But when I tried with percentage calculation type, it doesn't work.
    Any Idea?

    Hi,
    In the pricing procedure config, you will have to create a new formula under the AltCBV (Alternative formula for condition base value) column.  The base quantity should be
    Order Qty DIV 1
    That will give you the effect of truncating the decimals.   Suggest you get an ABAPer to have a look for you.
