Creating ability to replace image in PDF through Reader, is it possible?

I was told that LiveCycle is what I need to create a PDF with this ability.  Im creating a general flyer where the client wants to be able to replace the name, phone, and headshot with new people when they come on board.  The text part I can do but dont have a clue how to get started with a way to have them replace the photo, how would I go about this?  It would be a plus if it would also resize a photo to the needed size because the clients are not very computer or design literate so anything to make things easier on them.  Also I assume they would be using Acrobat Reader as well, so this would need to work with that

With Designer you can add an image field.
This field is also supported by Reader.
Users simply have to click onto the field to open a file browser where they can select an image file, which then is importetd into the image field.
You can set up the image field to fit the imported images to the image field area.

  • Creating dynamic table in livecycle ES pdf through coldfusion cfpdf.

    Hi,
    I have a pdf created in Livecycle ES, i am able to populate data in it with coldfusions cfpdf. but fields in pdf are static, means i will have to pass every field vale and coldfusion will populate it.
    But I have a Table in PDF i want it to be dynamic, so I i pass 5 rows it will populate table with 5 rows. right now every thing in pdf is fixed on place, but i want it dynamic.
    Hope i am able to explain it correctly, Please help and let me know if this is confusion. I will try to explain my problem correctly.
    Thanks

    Have you tried creating the data connection via LCD
    and not CF? You can write the same queries in LCD and connect to your tables. If you want dynamic pdfs in CF, I would use the <cfdocument> tag.

  • Create a single tall image from a multi-page pdf file

    I would like to take a multi-pake pdf file, and have all of the pages "appended" from top to bottom edge to create a single tall image. I am a teacher, and I currently do this by hand, I am then able to annotate the entire page and croll down an entire document inside of Photoshop.
    Here is an example: I have a pdf with 4 pages. Currently I open the pdf in PS, I end up with 4 images; I adjust the vertical canvas size of one of the images to be 4 times it's original size, then one-by-one I copy the contents of each image to that new tall image and move that layer vertically below the previous one. So the result is say a 1024x6400 pixel image.
    I would like to be able to just open the pdf with a script and get this all done in one step.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks again c.pfaffenbichler. I had most of it worked out in my own way before you got back to me, but I wasn't able to get the final naming part down.
    Like I said, I am a math teacher, and I use photoshop as my whiteboard, and draw with a graphics tablet. So I can print to pdf from any program, now I can import any document into photoshop basically to write on it. So this is wonderful. I have never seen another teacher use PS as a whiteboard in class in this way, so I am most likely the only person in my county or state that would need such a script.
    After I got everything worked out, I added some things to the script. Some of my colleagues will use my files as a whiteboard if I send it to them as a tall single page pdf that they can scroll down and write over; so they don't need photoshop. So I have scripted in the saving of that pdf as well. Here are my changes; most of what I changed is in the section commented MY WORK.
    // opens all pages of pdfs cropped to trimbox with set settings and arranges them;
    // 2011, use it at your own risk;

  • Dots are appearing on characters after created PDF through *.dwg file using AutoVue API

    Hi,
       I created PDF's through *.dwg file using AutoVue API 20.2.2. I observed in more zoom of PDF, every character or line has dots. At the same time on second page of PDF drawing lines are thicker that first page of PDF.
       Please kindly help on this, how to remove dots and drawing lines are published same as on first page.
    Thanks,
    Siva

    As with any format that does not support zoomable line thickness, the output is dpi dependent
    Imagine the DPI impact on a PDF is similar to the DPI on an image, except you can zoom into the lines, they look smooth (it is vector) but the position for the specific points is not as accurate as it should
    So it all boils down to how are you generating the PDF?

  • How can you images replacable in a PDF?

    I want to be able to create high quality and professional looking PDF's and for the client to be able to change text and images. The text is no problem, creating editable forms is easy and not hard to achieve. But I want to swap images easily.
    I want to create a PDF that has default images that can be clicked on. Once you click on them you can browse for your new image and upload to the PDF and save a new document. See attached video for this person has achieved it!
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxCpz8lm-I4
    He is performing the image swapping in Adobe Reader. Any thoughts on how to achieve this?
    Thanks!!!

    It is most likely an XFA form created in LiveCycle Designer. It allows you to create image fields that support JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and GIF formats. Reader 11 allows the buttonImportIcon method to import images as button icons. but the images have to first be converted to PDF.

    I am having problems interacting with Microsoft Office programs since the last update:cannot create a pdf through the 'print' menu in exel and both Word and Exel docs sent in Mac Mail end up being received as .dat files.
    Both these situations have cropped up on my MacBook Pro since the last update.
    Thanks for your help.
    Cheers
    Bob

    The 'Winmail.dat' problem has been extensively covered in these forums, I would search for that (a Google search works well) and unfortunately I have not seen the pdf print problem before, but assuming the software is current and functions normally (other than the pdf print problem) I have no suggestion other than the obvious (but time consuming) re-installation of Office.

  • PSE12: How to create gridlines on the image page then converted into a pdf? [was: N276]

    I want to download an image from the internet, for example, batman, create gridlines on the image page then converted into a pdf.  where on adobe photo shop element 12 can I do this.

    On way is to define a pattern:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/875370?tstart=0
    Another way is this neat free grid generator filter:
    http://www.richardrosenman.com/software/downloads/
    1. Add a blank layer above the picture layer, fill with white, and set Blend Mode to Multiply.
    2. Apply the filter. There are many options. Here I chose black lines on white background with 20 square boxes across. Note that the background should be pure white (255,255,255) so as not to change the original picture.
    You can also find lots of grid images on the Internet, for example a Google search on "grid" or "grid paper". As in the previous method, add this image above your picture and set its Blend Mode to Multiply.  Again, the background should be pure white.

  • Upload Images and PDFs into MDM through UI

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement where in we need to perform a mass upload of Images and PDFs into the respective tables of MDM through a UI.
    It is like, I browse the files through UI and click on Upload button, all those Images and PDFs should be uploaded in MDM.
    Is this a possible scenario? I have searched through sdn but could find no information pertaining to it.
    Please let me know if this is a possible scenario and provide some links to any documents related to it.
    TIA,
    Sravan

    upload of images and pdfs are dome from the data manager in MDM.
    ideally whatever u do in the DM is possible to be achieved by using the MDM APIs.
    so in ur UI (Webdynpro/ Java) u should call the APIsfor upload to the respective tables and its very much possible.
    check the MDM API list for more details.
    thanks

  • Permissions issue creating pdf through indesign

    Hi,
              I have an AppleScript droplet that opens documents in InDesign and exports individual pages and pdfs using:
      export tempdoc format PDF type to ((myFolderContainer as text) & folderName & ":" & myFileName) using PDF export preset "[PDF/X-1a:2001]"
    It also creates nested folders for the individual pdfs.
    This works perfectly.
    At least it does when the user has admin access.
    However this is in a corporate environment and IT has Macs locked down to a certain extent (and I can't get good info from them--this is big corp Mordac the Denyer territory) and I can't get it to work even when the files and folders are being created on the Desktop.
    I can, of course go the 'watched folder on a robot box' route but the slowness of that will cause problems.
    Any suggestions?
    TIA if you have.

    Repairing the permissions of a home folder in Lion is a complicated procedure. I don’t know of a simpler one that always works.
    Back up all data now. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore your system to its present state
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
    Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    chmod -R -N ~
    The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. When a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) appears below what you entered, it’s done. You may see a few error messages about an “invalid argument” while the command is running. You can ignore those. If you get an error message with the words “Permission denied,” enter this:
    sudo !!
    You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
    Next, boot from your recovery partition by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
    When the recovery desktop appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
    In the Terminal window, enter “resetpassword” (without the quotes) and press return. A Reset Password window opens. You’re not going to reset the password.
    Select your boot volume if not already selected.
    Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
    Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.

  • Dynamic Images in PDF and Escaping Special Characters

    I used the following to create my own PDFs with dymnamic images:
    http://marcsewtz.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html (Dynamic Images in PDF - What 32k Limit? )
    I have installed this application on Oracle's free workspace to test.
    The issue I am having is that when there is a special character in the description, such as <>'"& then the the PDF will not open. I have tried using the dmbs_xmlgen.convert to convert the description but haven't had any luck.
    I'm a complete novice with xml. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Glen

    I have been able to find a solution, but it's not completely perfect. I have changed the "description" field as follows:
    XMLCdata(replace(description,''&'',''and'')) description,
    The characters greater than (>), less than (<), single qoute('), and double quote (") can now all be in the description and will not cause errors. For some reason, I couldn't get the & not to give an error no matter what I tried, so I just replaced the & with the word "and". This solution will work for my needs, but it would be nice to be able to get the & to display.
    Does anyone know of a way to get the & to display correctly?
    Thanks again,
    Glen
    The complete code I am using is below:
    declare
    l_print_layout clob;
    l_xml_data clob;
    begin
    -- load print layout from database
    for c1 in (
    select layout from eba_pdfimg_layouts where id = :P1_LAYOUT
    ) loop
    l_print_layout := wwv_flow_utilities.blob_to_clob(c1.layout );
    end loop;
    -- generate XML data
    for c2 in (
    select dbms_xmlgen.getxml('
    select
    id,
    file_name,
    mime_type,
    XMLCdata(replace(description,''&'',''and'')) description,
    -- description,
    blob2clobase64(image,''Y'') image

    ') xml_data from dual
    ) loop
    l_xml_data := c2.xml_data;
    end loop;
    -- download print document
    wwv_flow.g_page_text_generated := true;
    apex_util.download_print_document (
    p_file_name => 'image_demo',
    p_content_disposition => 'ATTACHMENT',
    p_report_data => l_xml_data ,
    p_report_layout => l_print_layout,
    p_report_layout_type => 'rtf',
    p_document_format => :P1_FORMAT
