Creating email form for distribution from a recordset

I am new to the Master Collection of Adobe's products.  I am coming from Macromedia 8 Studio.  In that earlier version I used Dreamweaver to create a recordset (from a table resident on the server) and I looped through a list of email addresses, sending a custom form that personalized the content with fields from the recordset.  CFMAIL was the tag that I used in getting this done.  The file created was cfm.
Not that I am asking for a "how to" at this time, I am wondering what might be an alternate accomplishing the same thing with the latest applications within the suite.
Also, I have always shyed away from including graphics for fear that the recipient would trash the email if he had to click a dialogue asking whether graphics should be displayed.  Other departments within the firm are using Constant Contact to accomplish all of this, and they apparently are successful at sending graphics that display upon the opening of an email with no such prompting.  I would rather not use Constant Contact.
They keep me busy here, and I must admit that I have not had the time to explore the array of products that I now have at my disposal.  Any direction that you can lend would be appreciated.

  • Flash Player 16 PPAI available in MSI and EXE form for distribution?

    Hi,
Do we have Flash Player 16 PPAI plugin available in MSI and EXE form for distribution?
    Where can we find that?
    Thanks,
    Prakash

    Hi Prakash,
Sorry for the delay and confusion about the application process.  That was my fault as I thought your application through our normal channel would at least flag a manual response from the team that works on licensing.
As it stands, we're currently working through legal and logistical issues for PPAPI distribution.  We hope to have a mechanism in place in the coming months.  I should also note that we do not have plans at this time to create an MSI or PKG version of the ppapi installer.  Of course, we'll reevaluate if there's demand.
I'd like to understand your use case a bit better.  Would you mind dropping me an email at [email protected] and explaining how you'll be using the ppapi build and how many clients you expect to distribute to?
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Trouble linking AS3 and PHP to create email form

I am using one of the Adobe cookbooks to create an email form for my flash website. I am SO close to getting this right and need some help! I used the AS3 code below as well as the PHP code below in order to create the email form. Everything seems to be working fine, that is until I try to send an email using the form. When I input all of the text into the form, I get the actionscript default warning I wrote that states "Oh no! Something is wrong! Try again..." Hence the email will not send. What could be wrong with the script? Or does it matter where I file the PHP file, my swf file, html file, and my fla file? I tried several combinations of filing everything together, seperate, and everything in between. Help! And thanks for anyone who can help!

It may be indeed a problem of your server rsp. how it handles security issues and relative path-linking.
You wrote: "Or does it matter where I file the PHP file, my swf file, html file, and my fla file..." I suppose you mean where to put all the files.
1.Its a good beginners choice to put all the files you need (swf, html, php you don`t need the fla file on ) in the same directory of your server.
2.If you publish to html from flash there will be three tags in the html (use a texteditor to look at the html-code) that read like this:
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
change them for testing purposes to
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" />
3.On some servers to prevent malicious code php scripts are restricted to certain directorys, look up the phpinfo on your server
4.Even if swf, html and php are in one and the same directory use a "hard" path in your fla file for testing purposes, for example instead of calling "file.php" in your actionscript, call ("http://www.mydomain.com/directory/file.php"), when testing from flash you may get a better response where the problem lies

  • I created a form for our band parents to fill out.  How are they able to save the forms as pdfs?

I created a form for our band parents to fill out.  How are they able to save the forms as pdfs and be able to go back and view them?  I see the Save Submission-Enabled PDF on the Distribution page but there is no option when they go in to the first page of the form to save.
Thank you very much for your help.

If you are distributing a PDF using the save submission enabled pdf option, then respondents can save it using the Adobe Reader. They save it just like any other file - File menu -> save (or save icon on toolbar).

  • Error submitting form for Distribution: "The filename you specified is not valid because it does not

    Error submitting form for Distribution:
"The filename you specified is not valid because it does not include a .pdf extension, contains one or more invalid characters or teh path preceding it refers to a protected system location."
Tried removing dashes from filename, shortenign filename, moving to root directory. No changes. File ends with a .pdf extension.
This is my first attempt to distribute via acrobat.com

I found that I got that same message using Acrobat Professional to send out a document for shared review.  I had an exclamation mark in the title of the PDF. When I took out the exclamation mark, it worked.
So maybe try taking out anything "unusual" (parentheses, dashes, exclamation marks, etc.) in the file name and see if that helps.
    Good luck,
       Philip.

  • Is it better to create ONE form, for 25 different forms?

We have a Telco Application (in Forms 10g) which has about 200 Forms which are called from the main menu. Out of that 200 forms about *25* are "file upload" type forms (shown below).
    http://www.freeimagehosting.net/alg6q
As you can see this is small form. The functionality is as follows:
*(a.)* Select a text file (which has data in tabular format) from the client PC.
When file is selected, it is also copied to a directory in the DB server machine. File Name will show the full path of the file in the client machine.
*(b.)* When user presses Load button, form calls a stored packaged procedure. In that we create a EXTERNAL table mapped to the file in the db directory and read the contents to a temporary table in the DB.
*(c.)* When user presses Process button, the temporary table is read and our Telco tables are updated using this data.
*(d.)* You can view the error records and correct records discovered while processing, with the View File option. This will display 2 Oracle reports.
*(e.)* You can delete the temporary table contents using the Delete Temporary option.
This story goes like this: Our application is in Forms 10g. Now, we want to upgrade this application to 11g Forms. One problem we encountered was the FileUploader bean which we use in the above forms. This does not work in 11g. Solution was found in using WebUtil. Now, we have to modify all 25 Forms (obviously).
Now here comes the real important part: Our Managers think that in the future also we might have to do upgrade to these 25 forms (due to future problems/upgrades with WebUtil and so on) and they want us to create ONE form for the 25 forms. So, in that ONE form,
(a.) We have a list box at the top where uses selects which upload function he wants.
(b.) Then, the file is selected (and transferred to the DB directory).
(c.) Now when the users presses Load button, we have to execute the load packaged procedure for the selected load file option.
(d.) When he presses Process button we have to run the program unit for the selected file upload function.
(e.) When user presses the View File button, he has to show the correct records and invalid records (found after processing) in 2 reports. The reports differ from function to function.
(f.) He can delete the records in the temporary table using Delete Temp button.
Is this is good idea?? My initial study tells me that it is not a good idea since we have one form with too much functionality. What are pros and cons of this approach and what is the best solution??

So the forms are completely different, and yet you are asked to stuff them all together into one form? What sense would that make? That's like pulling forms which are using text_io together just because when text_io is changed you simply would need to edit one form. Well of course you would have to. On the other hand there is a pile of code necessary to seperate the parts you glued together in the first place plus the effort of pulling all those forms together plus the effort of adding stuff to one "part" of the form.
Also think about version control: you'd create more frequent conflicts in putting those forms together when different developers edit different parts of the form. Conflicts causes work as developers are forced to merge more often plus developers can make errors when merging their changes. Also the log of your version control system becomes quite useless as it always will be the xyz form which is changed. If you would want to know what did change you would have to read the log messages carefully of each revission (given the fact that developers wrote them carefully) or do diffs between revisions instead of...looking at what files changed.
And all that just because the only thing they have in common is that they are using webutil?!? Do your managers keep their Blue Socks and their Blue Cars in the same drawer because they are blue?
If the issue here is that you need to edit many forms and this might cause errors then you should take a look at the JDAPI, because this would be the tool to do changes in forms in batch. The forms migration assistant can also be configured to change one built-in into another, and you wouldn't have to write one line of java code. But stuffing forms together because they use the same built-ins...I'd say no, but of course this is just my opinioin ;)
    btw.:
When you say API, u mean a PLL, right???Not only, by API I meant Application programming interface; this might be a package in a library, a whole pll file, a database package, a java class, or a combination of all those.
    cheers

I have purchased Adobe XI Pro and created a form for entering bowling scores to submit to newspaper for my high school team.  I can not figure out how to get pdf's into my documents folder on my iPad so that I can access the files in bowling alleys where I do not have a Wi-Fi connections.  I need to be able access files without going to acrobat.com.  Help!!!@

Post the PDF files to a web site. The browse to them in Safari on the iPad.  When you Open the files specify the Open to occur in Adobe Reader.  Then you can have/Save them in your Documents folder on the iPad.   An iPad has limited access to files otherwise.

How can I create a form for users wherein the text field will expand to accommodate additional text?

You need to use LiveCycle (PC Only) to create a dynamic form like that.
The best you can do with Acrobat to view all of the text in a field is to set the field to multiline, and set the size to "Auto" (If you don't set the size to 'Auto', you can enter as much text as you wish, but the user will need to use the scrollbar to view all of the text.)

    Hi Nalani500 ,
Yes, you can print the response in a PDF by following the steps suggested below.
    1) Go to the response file
    2) Select the response you want to print
    3) Click on Save as PDF button and it would save the selected response in PDF format.

I would like to create email accounts for high school students in our pre-college workshops to use for communicating with me and each other. Can I do that and also can I personalize the address domain? What is the cost?

Thunderbird is email client software, not an email provider. Only providers issue email accounts.

  • Is there an easy way to create simple forms for use in iweb?

    or a template?
I need to create a reply form on the site I am working on.
    thanks

After a few days of working on this issue the tutorial is updated to make the form be sent from within the webpage with extra form additions available as well!
The form is fully customizable for background color or image background, there's no ads or service to sign up for, all you have to do is copy and paste a code into your html and enable cgi and/or php on your host with some additional small tweeks here and there to put it all together. Basically it's the do it yourself way.
*The form on the tutorial link provided still opens the Email app when the form is submitted but we have tested this method on our other sites using the same procedures mentioned with successful results.

  • How to create a form for identifying people in a photo?

I have a group photo of about 60 people that I have imported into Acrobat Pro XI.  I would like to be able to send this photo pdf to others to get help identifying all of the people in the photo.  None of the recipients is likely to know all of the people, but it's likely that the contributions of all will end up identifying all of the people in the photo.
It seems like I ought to be able to create a form based on that photo pdf that includes a blank next to each person and that I can email to others to fill in as many of the blanks as they each can and return the form to me.
However, I've never created a form before, so I'm not sure how to get started and go about creating it, including which field type to use, how to collect the data when the completed forms come back, etc.
Has anyone done this sort of thing before?
    Thanks

It  might be better for people to use the various commenting tools that are available. If you Reader-enable the document, they will be able to use the various markup tools to add text and otherwise annotate, which is more flexible than form fields. For example:
But you may have to include some instructions.
