Creating Powerpoint presentation on run and render it to client browser.

Hi,
I want to create a Powerpoint presentation dynamically at runtime. My user want to use a powerpint generated dynamically and save it on their hard drive or give presetation online. Is there any way i can create a Power point presentation using JAVA Server Pages.
I will be using Servlets, Java Beans, and JSP.

In theory, yes. The hard part is telling Powerpoint where on a slide to place an element such as a title, a paragraph, a graph, a chart, a list, etc, without being able to see the slide itself.
As a result, almost nobody will do it this way. Too much work for too little gain.
Depending on exactly what type of information you need to present, it is easier to dynamically create a Microsoft Word document, or an Excel document. For example, if you are trying to generate a series of graphs and charts, you can easily have your Java code write out the appropriate VisualBasic commands, send those commands to Excel, have Excel save the output somewhere temporarily, then use Java to display those files to the user, and delete them from the server when the Bean is finished with it.
I don't think Powerpoint has the same level of support.

  • Can I import my old powerpoint presentations into keynote and change them

  • Create Sequences on one computer and render out from another

    Essentially what i'm trying to acheive is to use Premiere Pro (CS6) on my Mac to create sequences themselves but use a PC on the network to do the rendering work overnight.
    I create a number sequences, anywhere from a few minutes each that can be combined into hour plus long final videos.
    Is there a way to "package" a project onto a network drive where the PC can then see the project itself with the relevant source media?. I can move the project file and the source media singularly but I then need to manually relocate the media each time.
    The workflow would then be
    All source media originally loaded onto Mac
    Sequences within project made on the Mac
    When ready for rendering transfer to PC
    PC does work with Media Encoder, freeing up Mac for other tasks.
    Any help or suggestions would be most welcome!
    Thanks guys

    You will first have to have a consistent folder naming setup for both computers, so PPro may find the files
    You will need to have the project and all files in one place on the server, and then copy everything to the appropriate computer for work... PPro does NOT work on a network, only on a local hard drive
    So... edit on Mac, copy all to server... copy all to PC... render on PC... copy all back to server

  • IMAGES in POWERPOINT presentation can't be read by a Windows PC

    I create a POWERPOINT PRESENTATION on a Mac and insert image files (jpg) from Google into the slides. The presentation works fine on the Mac.
    I then go and playback this presentation on any Windows PC and it can't read the images, displaying an error message in the image frame of each such slide about some TIFF driver missing to display this image.
    What do I do wrong?
    PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Powerpoint 2004 for Mac

    I have had this problem before, but I use the following work around.
    1) Copy the graphic to clipboard with Command C (or use the Grab utility, then copy to memory)
    2) Create a new document in Photoshop (it should automatically create the correct size)
    - Paste
    - Cut
    4) Switch back to PowerPoint Mac and Paste it back in.
    I do this routinely now when creating PowerPoint presentations and it works every time on PCs.

  • Can I create a Flash button and use it to navigate to the next slide of a PowerPoint Presentation?

    Hello all,
    I've been having a bit of a hard time understanding how to get a button which I have created in Flash to navigate to the next slide of the PowerPoint presentation which it has been added into. I'm fairly new to Flash, so I believe that this is slightly out of my natural skill range, so hopefully someone will be able to help.
    I understand that I somehow need to make use of fscommand in ActionScript, but I'm not sure how I can get Flash and PowerPoint to communicate between themselves. If anyone could write a walkthrough on how to do this, I would be bery grateful.
    I'm using Flash MX 2004 7.0 and Powerpoint 2003.
    Thanks

    Hi. Why not to make the whole presentation in FLASH? What you have to do is to import all the slides inside FLASH. Then place one by one in the stills and then create the code to make the stills advance and show the slides by means of the button. The code for the button goes as follows:
    on (release) {
        nextFrame();
    to introduce this code make sure you press the button and no the frame.
    Then in order to make the presentation open and cover the screen, no matter how big it is, you need to enter the following code in the first frame:
    stop();
    fscommand ("showmenu",false);
    fscommand ("fullscreen", true);
    You will need also a button to quit the aplication. This is the code:
    on (release) {
         stop();
    fscommand ("quit");
    Now write all of this in your application and let me know your experience. MamenFLASH$

  • I created a powerpoint presentation and used idvd to burn, the text is blurry? how do i fix this

    I created a powerpoint presentation, used idvd to burn disk. the text is a bit blurry. how can i correct?

    but the presentation can not have any movement, transistions or music
    It's possible to create an iDVD slideshow from a PP presentation with still slides of each PP page.
    Here's how to get any file into iPhoto as a jpeg file:
    1 - open the presentation in Powerpoint and select all of the pages in the "page" mode (don't remember what that mode is called)..
    2 - type Command+P to start the print process.
    3  - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
    Note:  If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
    Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
    Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
    Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
    4 - select either of the files above (the 300 dpi setting is primarily for images bound for iPhoto.books).
    5 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
    That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto.
    Open iDVD and create a slideshow with the "+" button.  Go to the Media/Photos browser at the right and drag the album with the PP pages into the slideshow window.
    NOTE:  if there are more than 99 slides in the presentation this method will result in a pause at slide 100 due to the fact that DVD standards only allow 99 chapters in any slideshow and each slide is considered a chapter.  iDVD gets around this limitation by renumbering slide 100 back to 1 and so forth.  The pause can be minimized, but not eliminated, by following the workflow below:
    Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
    To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
    Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Getting Powerpoint to close running presentation, and open another?

    Background: Using a Mac Mini (10.4.8) to drive a Digital Signage display. Apache/PHP/MySQL serves a web interface that runs Python scripts that send serial commands (Via Keyspan USB-Serial) to control the display. All that works. There's also a way to upload Powerpoint files to the system, and Powerpoint is always running to provide display content. I'm using folder actions and Applescript to provoke the display of the content once it's uploaded. This is where I get into trouble:
    I was just opening the file (a Powerpoint Slideshow) and that works the first time. But the next time I do it, it opens another hidden window, so it looks like the content never updates.
    So I'm trying to tell application Microsoft Powerpoint to stop the slideshow and close the file, then re-open the file. This part I can't figure out. I can't get Powerpoint to do anything.
    I've been using Macs for years and can do PHP/MySQL and Python, but the sad fact is I don't know jack about Applescript. I've also just realized I don't have my existing code handy to post. It's on a computer behind a firewall at work. Sorry, I'll post my code tomorrow.
    In the meantime, if someone wanted to wanted to crank out some psuedo-code for me, almost anything would probably help me understand what I'm doing wrong.
    Thanks,
    Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    OK, now I'm even more confused.
    Telling Powerpoint to stop the show and close open documents works. If I make a script that's just:
    on adding folder items to this_folder after receiving added_items
    try
    tell application "Finder"
    open document file "display.pps" of folder "Powerpoint" of folder "Shared" of folder "Users" of startup disk
    end tell
    end try
    end adding folder items to
    ...that also works to open the file like I want.
    BUT... If I put both the Powerpoint commands and Finder commands in the same script, Powerpoint will close the file like it's supposed to, but the file never opens in the finder.
    So, why won't the 2nd part work when it's after the first part in the same script, but it will work when it's all by itself?
    Thanks for any advice or help,

  • I have microsoft powerpoint on my macbook and every time i open it, it disappears.  The application is running but i cannot access it.

    So every time i open my powerpoint presentations or open a new one it disappears off top of my screen.  when i swipe my trackpad to show my open applications my projects are there but i cant open them.  its like theyre minimized off my screen.  How do i get them back so i can access them?  I have a Macbook Pro running osx 10.8.2

    First, update your Mountain Lion installation -> http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1676 & http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1686.
    Then, make certain that you're running the latest version of the MS Office suite - 14.3.9 (go to any other Office app and select "Check for Updates" under the Help menu).
    If that doesn't help, you may want to visit the MS Office for Mac forums.

  • Can I use the ipad 2 to run Powerpoint presentations?

    I am in need of a device besides the traditional laptop to run Powerpoint presentations from. Can I link this with a projector with the VGA adapter? And will the ipad 2 run Powerpoint presentations?

    You will have different settings for each device, even with the same account.
    Don't worry about setting it up - just connect them to iTunes, which will detect them as seperate devices, with distinct names, and for each you can choose which things you want to sync over.

  • I'm new to keynotes and I have a lot of powerpoint presentations I'm trying to salvage.  I can't get the slides to change on a click plus I can't find the way to change the "transition" time changes within each slide.  Where can I find the answer

    I'm new to keynotes and I'm trying to salvage several powerpoint presentations.  I can't control my slide presentations by clicking to change slides and/or for transitions within the slides.  I'm sure there's an answer but I can't find it.  Can someone please give me directions.

    Show the Inspector;   view > show inspector
    to run a presentation using manual control:
    Inspector > Document: set Presentation to Normal
    many transitions set in PowerPoint are not available in Keynote;  to set the transition options:
    Inspector > Slide > Transition
    select the effect you want and either choose auto or manual control

  • Powerpoint presentation created on Mac looks awful on PC - I'M DESPERATE!

    I am creating a Powerpoint presentation on my G-5 that will be shown tomorrow, probably on a PC.
    I burned a disc tonight as a test and viewed it on a PC and all the fonts look awful.
    It has coverted them to something else entirely and in the process totally messed up alignment, etc.
    I may have no control over what this is shown on, so I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to embed fonts into a Powerpoint, so that whatever it is shown on, it will look right.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks.
    J.

    If you want to use Powerpoint to display the presentation I don't think you have any choice but to use Windows fonts that you would expect to find on a typical PC.
    Couldn't you print the presentation as a PDF and use Adobe Reader to display the slides? A PDF created on a Mac should look the same on a PC because fonts are embedded in the PDF.

  • Powerpoint Presentation and Captivate

    I have finished a Powerpoint presentation that I would like
    to try and put into Captivate to help with recording and laying
    down narration, but have run into problems. It does not record the
    transitions or animation I have put into the Powerpoint
    presentation and chops it up. Is there a way to record through
    Capitvate without having a chopped up movie?

    Hi there bsostre
    I have a question. Why do you want to turn Powerpoint into
    Captivate for the simple task of adding narration if you have
    already done all the hard work in Powerpoint?? My suggestion is to
    rather download a programme such as "Audacity" to record and edit
    your narrations and then attach those narrations to the relevant
    Powerpoint slides with autostart on slide opening. The only other
    thing to do then would be to set the timings of your slides for a
    smooth transition aligned to the narration.
    Please shout again if this is "NOT HELPING DUDE"
    Cheers
    Andrew
    PS Audacity is freeware sound editing programme
