Creating Webpage Galleries from Photoshop

Hi Folks
When I create a webpage gallery for my images using photoshop, I get a nice flash gallery / slideshow embeded in its own page ready to upload to the Internet.
However, I wish to embed the gallery/slideshow into my own pre-made webpage. It does not want to let me! Has anyone had experience of this and a solution to my problem.
Any information would be gratefully received.
Many thanks
Carl

That's not as easy as it sounds as you have to modify your existing pages. David Powers made a tutorial on how to do this here:

If you have any problems with it then please ask in the Dreamweaver forum:

  • Creating a magazine from Photoshop Images and transferring them to InDesign

    Hello,
I'm in the process of creating a magazine. I have already started created the pages including their layout in Photoshop. I have CS4 and I want to transfer those images to InDesign and also incorporate Flash to produce a web-base magazine. How do I transfer those Photoshop images (files) into InDesign and also incorporate Flash.
Attached are some finished pages so that you will have something to show me, in detail, on how this process is done, and/or IF, it can be done.

    Hi, smitty212.
Hopefully everyone can agree to ignore some of the dialog above.
Your question is a bit difficult, in large part because it appears that you did a lot of work in a way that could be very difficult to transfer, but you haven't given us full information about what you really have and what you need.
Generally speaking, editable text in Photoshop is not very flexible. It's not easy to manage large amounts of text there, and depending on how you have used it, it may be nearly impossible to get the text out without retyping it.
The normal use of InDesign, as you've probably gathered by now, is to place the text in text frames (either by typing or by File > Place-ing it from another application, or maybe cut-and-paste but probably not), and to place graphics in graphics frames (again, with File > Place. Never with cut-and-paste, which causes all manner of problems).
Ideally, then, you'd have all the images in your layout as seperate files, and the text, too, and you could compose the layout as normal.
The hard part will be rescuing the text. You may be able to cut and paste it out of Photoshop.
It is possible that you might be able to save some work by converting pieces of the Photoshop layout to smart objects and placing those into InDesign.
One thing to consider is how resolution-independent your output is going to be. In Photoshop, everything is a pixel. So if the work was done at a low resolution, it won't support resizing in InDesign. This is especially true of text that has been rasterized (converted to pixels). But if everything was high enough resolution in Photoshop, you may be able to get away with just placing the Photoshop images in InDesign. It won't be easily editable, but maybe that's ok.
    I hope this helps.

  • Creating Pages template from Photoshop layout

I need to create a Pages template from a Photoshop layout. I don't have the time to create one myself and am looking to hire someone to do this. Is there a User group or some other place where I can find someone to do this for me?
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Is it possible to export Vector Smart Objects as vector SVG files from Photoshop CC 2014?

I have Vector Smart Objects copied from Illustrator and pasted into Photoshop. I would like to export them as vector SVG files (using Generator or Extract Assets). I can add the .svg extension to the layer and actually export an SVG just fine. The problem is any SVG I have exported have all been raster images. It defeats the purpose of having that as an option as far as I'm concerned.
I remember watching and listening to keynotes and other speakers at Adobe MAX 2014 who said it was so powerful and amazing to create SVG files from Photoshop. If we're still exporting raster SVG files from Photoshop...that's not very impressive or exciting--especially since this era of modern web development benefits greatly from using vector SVG files.
I understand that Shape Layers can be exported as vector SVG files but that seems very limiting. I also realize that users can create some impressive vectors in Photoshop, but that is not optimal. Illustrator is a better tool for creating vectors and I normally use Photoshop and Illustrator side-by-side. I know that vector SVG files can be exported from Illustrator but that isn't as user friendly and convenient as utilizing Photoshop > Generator > Reflow.
My idea was to create my assets in Illustrator, paste them into Photoshop as Vector Smart Objects, set up my layout, and then use the Generator/Reflow method or Extract Assets to get a new web design started.
Maybe I misunderstood what the speakers at Adobe MAX had said. Perhaps it's just user error and I'm just missing something simple (it happens).
Photoshop CC 2014 notes the following under Help > System Info:
    Adobe Photoshop Version: 2014.2.2 20141204.r.310 2014/12/04:23:59:59 CL 994532  x64
    Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your time.

Not quite the same, but have a look at the new Libraries feature that came with 2014.2.2  I just tried it, and dragging a vector object into a library I created in Photoshop, was there in Illustrator.  This happens without having to close and reopen Illustrator.  Just use the drop down at the top of the Libraries panel (in Illustrator) to find your custom, or job specific library.

  • Create a PDF from webpage using entire site option doesn't works

OK, guys, this is the problem...
After YEARS of testing from Acrpbat 4 thru 9 on Create a PDF from webpage using entire site option... it doesn't works properly and doesn't got the entire site. ALWAYS get an error of memory or any other error but FINALLY you NEVER got the entire site. I'm talking for a big website... not like amazon.com, but a big one.
I make a walkarround to try to capture the website in parts but Acrobat is not "intelligent" to make a resume capture of the site, because ALWAYS start from the begining instead from the resume position of the site...
My question is, HOW can get the ENTIRE SITE in a PDF document... without getting errors or stopping the capture process...
Don't have problem of low RAM memory because I'm in a MONSTER MACINTOSH.... 3.2 GHZ with 8 Core and 32 GB of RAM under Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.6 in Acrobat 9 Pro.
If I'm not wrong, the GET ENTIRE SITE option in Web Capture (Create a PDF from webpage using entire site option) doesn't works from Acrobat 4 thru 9 in Pro version... tested, you'll never got the entire site... I'm talking in capture a huge entire site and not a little one...
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks.

Ok so I go to a web page and select something to print. Once I've clicked print I switch over from printer/micosoft xps docu writer/fax and select Adobe PDF. All goes through with a 'Create Adobe PDF' coming up progressing through to eventually save and store. Once I open the file it end up as the picture above. I have the same version on another computer and that works fine but this particular Sony laptop it doesn't seem to work properly.

  • How do I get the file nformation from photoshop to move over to InDesign and once info is there how to I get InDesign to create captions from it?

I need to be able to create captions from the metadata  located in the file info on .png images created in Photoshop.  I have been running into multiple issues.
    1. The data from Photoshop is not showing up in the InDesign File Info
    2. When I simply recreate the information - it is very basic simply description and copyright - the active caption that is generated reads <no data from link>
Obviously I'm missing an essential step by I cant figure out what.
Help point me in the right direction would be most appreciated.

I just tried that and still the same issue.  I right clicked the graphic, (first made sure that the metadata was  in the File Information window), then Captions > Captions Setup > OK.  The Metadata fields are Description and Copyright.  When I try to generate a Live Caption I get the <no data from link> message and for the Static Caption I get an empty container below the graphic

  • Trouble getting template from Photoshop to Webpage

    Hi guys,
So, a few weeks ago I upgraded from Photoshop CS to Photoshop CS4 (big jump right?), and CS4 is wonderful! But I'm having some issues:
First, ImageReady no longer around, so making image maps seems all but impossible to do in Photoshop now. Yes I've figured out how to make the image map in Dreamweaver, but I kinda miss just drawing a box in ImageReady and telling the map where to go.
Second, I am trying to get into the "make the web site template in photoshop, its easier" trend... and they're right, making my web layout is cake if you know how to use layers and draw in Photoshop. I love it, it's wonderful.... but then again every tutorial I find on making templates in PS for DW & Internet say to upload after drawing to ImageReady to create image maps for your navbar and buttons (1) and to slice up your template to import to ImageReady, and then import it from IR to DW. Well... as I mentioned, CS4 has no IR!
So, does anyone, ANYONE, have a nice tutorial explaining how to set your options in the slices you make for a web page in CS4? I've found plenty of tutorials and guides on how to use the slice to draw around your button and such, but nothing about what options to set. Right now my site is only one page, but eventually I may want to make multiple pages instead of just having my navbar link to specific places on my main page. Plus, saving each layer individually to use in my CSS has its downfall as well: for some reason my header, branding logo, and navbar all have spaces between them. http://secondlife.lift4ullc.com is the site I made... all of the graphics were made in PS CS4, but instead of slicing stuff up, I just hid all layers except navbar, or logo, or header, and saved the jpg's individually. Would really love to learn how to just slice the different image sections without having to do all that extra work. Thank you all for any help you can provide, I really appreciate it.
    Chance

    Hi Bart,
Actually, I haven't really done much CSS with the template yet. Here's what I've done and where I'm at:
First, created the template fully in Photoshop CS4
Second, sliced up the template and then saved to web & devices, html & images
Next, opened the new .html file in Dreamweaver
This is as far as I've gotten so far. The template looks great, and its all in one table. I went back and forth with one of my professors in my online class all day yesterday. What he said was to nest another table within my main template table to position everything how I want it. I tried this for a few hours yesterday and always the text ended up somewhere outside of my template "content boxes". You can see the full code and all of its glory here.
I'm really not sure how to properly nest a small table within the main table to get some header like "News" or "Current Events" to line up at the top of the gradient on my "content boxes" etc. My professor suggested Illustrator, but I do not know that program at all yet.
I could go with pure CSS as I've done in the past, but then I get gaps, like the ones I have here. If you notice at the very top where the branding is, there's a gap between that and the header image, and then another between that and the navbar. My goal is to be able to put content in the two boxes like on the first link, and then figure a way to link those boxes to my CSS so that as I add content to them (like with the second site) the boxes repeat or scroll down without giving me gaps. I hope this makes some semblance of sense. I figure for my other pages (one for every button on the navbar except XStreet) I'll design another content box like the two on the front of the site, but combine them to one box instead of two.
Once I can figure out how to start adding content properly, I'll be all set finally with creating and designing templates. Its just this wall that I've hit that's stopping me from going further. Should I take out the tables, use the slices in my CSS and link them to <div> tags instead? My business is wanting a capture or splash page like here. and while I know how to design that template with Photoshop to give them a white box with a reflection under it, I will run into the same problem of getting the content inside that white box.
I appreciate the time and effor in this, thank you. Oh yes, one more thing... I've been trying to do some searches on google and youtube for a video tutorial of just how to get the content in there properly, but I'm not even sure how to phrase it right to get some decent results. If this is one of those thinks you just know how to do but cannot explain it, if you could give me a tip on how to phrase my search properly, I'd appreciate that too. =)

  • Creating graphics for iPhone from Photoshop

Hi, I'm putting together my first App for the iPhone and I have a question when it comes to exporting my graphics from Photoshop. I have looked all over the web place and I can't find a direct answer, I hoped that someone might have an idea in here? It is more of a Photoshop question but directly relates to the iPhone so here goes.......
My psd has the embedded colour profile - CHROMiX iPhone Aug08 as I have been advised to use from the web. From here all I want to do is export the graphic. I am exporting as a PNG-24. The exported graphic is either slightly washed out or much much darker. As this is my first time in doing it I don't know which is right, nor do I know why I am getting two different results.
Any help? Please! I am going round in circles.

Hello, Andy and welcome to the Discussions.
I would suggest that you ask for assistance in the developer forums to which you have access as a member of Apple's iOS developer's program:
    http://developer.apple.com/devforums/
You'll be much more likely to get assistance there, particularly with such a very specific issue. This forum is really for people using the iPhone rather than for people developing for it.
    Regards.

  • Creating Buttons from Photoshop Layers

Hi, I am actually a designer trying to supply someone with a DVD menu template. They are using DVD Studio Pro.
I've sent the files as layered Photoshop .PSD files with the proper aspect ratio & size. The text that needs to be made into menu buttons I had converted to rasterized layers (as the type was originally layed out in a sepearate program, not Photoshop).
    - So you cannot convert type that has rasterized on it's own layer to a button?
    - Can 'Vector Smart Object' layers from Photosop CS2 be imported and used as buttons?
    - Can Shape Layers be used to make buttons?
    - If I absolutely have to redo all the type in Photoshop, anyone know how to properly handle the aspect ratio issue? The document is using DV (.9) aspect ratio, and the type does not appear correct when laying out in Photoshop. I have to apply a 90% horizontal scaling to make the type look the same as the rasterized type I brought in.
Thanks. I'm not too familiar with DVD authoring and even the whole pixel aspect ratio. Just trying to get the best files to people.

If they're using DVDSP 4 or above, YOU do not need to used the 0.9 aspect ratio when you make the file. Just use regular square pixels, but make sure that you're file is 640 x 480 NOT 720 x 480 (for 4:3 menus) or 720 x 404 (for 16:9 menus).
Any layer with filters should be flattened. All text and shapes should be rasterized as well.
    - So you cannot convert type that has rasterized on it's own layer to a button?
It can very easily be it's own button, and outline for a button just needs to be "drawn" around it. It sounds like your DVD person doesn't quite know what they're doing.
    - Can 'Vector Smart Object' layers from Photoshop CS2 be imported and used as buttons?
Yes, but make sure all vectors/shapes/test are rasterized and/or flattened to there own layer.
    - Can Shape Layers be used to make buttons?
    Yes. (See above.)
    Hope this helps.
    -Sid

  • Importing Pictures and Tags from Photoshop Album 2.0 to IPhoto

I will be getting a new imac in a few days and was wondering if anyone knows if there is a way I can import all my photos from Photoshop Album 2.0 to iphoto'08 without losing the tags I already created for each photo (pulling the tags in and having them automatically set up as Keywords)?

    Hi,
I've managed to transfer all my Photoshop Album (PSA) tags to iPhoto. At this (http://www.cv2h.com/PSA2iPhoto/Welcome.html) little webpage you can read how I did it and download the files you need. It's not very hard to do.
In short: the PSA "My Catalog.psa" file is a Microsoft Access file. It's easy to export the necessary data from it as XML. After that it's necessary to convert the binary references to the tags to readable references in the Images file. Then, generate an applescript that tells iPhoto what tags to add to which photo. Then, execute the applescript and you're done.
    I hope this helps,
    hhv.

  • Bridge Help | Create web galleries and PDFs with Adobe Output Module

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/using/create-web-galleries-pdfs-adobe.html

    Plug-ins that failed to load:
It seems to me that something is wrong with your install. Maybe you did clone a former mac to install on this one? or copies old stuff to the new one. Don't know, it seems easy and quick but I prefer always a new install using a new computer or switching to a new system upgrade.
Lightning effects shows to be 32 bit while I think to know that Photoshop CS5 and CS5.5 are both 64 bit, however Bridge was turned to 64 bit in the CS6 version but that should not mater for you to use both applications from the same install disk (or download?)
And variations is something I tried to find in CS6 but can't find it there. I had long forgotten this feature that presented different previews and you could switch to color corrections and brightness (not sure) while looking at the result in the previews.
So I think you have some old material residing on your system. I would advice you to back up all custom settings (actions, tools, workspaces etc. and keywords in Bridge) Then do a search for the Adobe Cleaner tool :
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html?promoid=GYTAU
(don't know this links work for you but you can find it easy with google).
Read the instructions carefully and follow this using the official uninstaller that came with PS (see application folder). Also be sure to have your serial number and AdobeID present and while an activation of PS is for the computer maybe for security first deactivate before uninstall.

  • Using HTML file from Photoshop in Dreamweaver (Was: Help.....Newbie Here)

    Hi
I'm new to dreamweaver. I know a bit of photoshop and wanted create a simple  website using photoshop and dreamweaver. I created a layout and sliced out the different parts and when saved as web, it created a set of image files and a html file.
Now when I placed this html file in dreamweaver, everything got right just as I created in photoshop but when I tried to place an swf file on an image which was sliced out from the photoshop, the other images (sliced on photshop) get scrambled in dreamweaver. I tried everything but I can't understand how to place an object Even while placing text on an image file, the whole layout gets scrambled.
Any help please. I want to place a swf file and also write a heading "radio player" above the swf file on an image in dreamweaver.
    Thanks

Slicing the design from Photoshop will give you 'image' output - this is very bad practice. You're only supposed to slice design elements & use CSS to put them together within a webpage.
I'd recommend you take some time out and go through this tutorial before continuing to work - http://net.tutsplus.com/articles/news/slice-and-dice-that-psd/
This will give you a quick walkthrough of how you can re-create the PSD design using CSS for building a 'proper' website.

  • Can't export an EPS file from Photoshop CS5 and open in Illustrator CS5.

    I'm on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
I am making DVD covers for print. The barcodes for the DVD covers have to be done in Illustrator. But the original designs are done in photoshop including the text. For years this hasn't been a problem. Right before adding the barcodes I create an EPS file from photoshop, open that file in Illustrator and all my text is automatically coverted to perfect crisp clean vectors, viola! I add the barcodes and export the PDF for the printers.
But now I can't open my EPS files in Illustrator CS5 even though I'm exporting them the same way I always have from Photoshop CS5. Illustrator says... "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error." --> Note it does not give an error number after this warning like I see it does for so many other people.
I have been trying to fix this for over 10 HOURS spanning 2 days! I'm infuriated I can't get help from Adobe on this and have read all the forums and don't see my problem listed anywhere.
    I've tried:
    - Deleting the .plist file and the Settings folder & resetting my permissions
    - Uninstalling and Reinstalling Illustrator
    - Turning off all other applications
    - Creating more disk space on my hard drive (even though I have 200gb available)
    - Restarting the computer
    - Disabling my Font book and still I can't open the EPS file
I thought maybe it's possible it's the font I'm using Fontesque OT so I even tried converting text to objects prior to exporting the EPS file from photoshop to illustrator and turning off my font book, but still it won't open. And if I open the PSD directly in Illustrator, text comes out a bit fuzzy in the PDF I export.
If anyone can provide any solutions I would be so grateful! I'm at my wits end here, this should have taken under an hour to do and now it's ruining my entire weekend. I'm completely panicked because I was suppose to have these to my client over the weekend so they could turn them in for Print frist thing on Monday morning and of course Adobe provides no chat support or phone support after 7pm on weekday or on the weekend which is when this all started.

I never even thought of reinstalling photoshop, but I think this was a font issue. I'd never saved an EPS with Fontesque OT Regular enabled, only Fontesque OT Bold. Somehow I think the font was causing the problem because ridding the font from the equation allowed me to open the EPS file.
After 12 HOURS of trying different things I found a WORK AROUND...
    I had to:
    - Select the Text in Photoshop (with Fontesque OT enabled)  --> Select Create Work Path --> Covert to Shape on each of the text items
    - Save EPS file out of Photoshop
    - Disable Fontesque OT font in Font Book
    - Then open EPS in Illustrator add in my Barcodes and export the PDF
(the barcodes have to be added in Illustrator because they need to be pure 100% black with no CMYK color in them. You can't save them out of Photoshop that way, only Illustrator, otherwise I would have made my pdf straight out of photoshop like any other normal human
This work around is the only way I could get the EPS files to open in Illustrator and still have the text remain super crisp like a vector.
NOTE to others in the future about crisp text from Photoshop to Illustrator:
    - Simply "converting to shape" did not preserve the vector. You have to Select Create Work Path --> then Covert to Shape on each of the text items (with the font enabled) for this to work and preserve the crispness of the text. Even creating "smart object" did not truly preserve my vectors or the text crispness in the EPS file once I imported it into Illustrator.
DrStrik9 thank you SO MUCH for trying to help me. You did give me ideas that helped me figure out the workaround and also helped me feel not so alone as I struggled through this. I'm going to follow up with your other suggestions about reinstalling photoshop and also checking my RAM, etc. But I just want to that you so so so SOOOO much for all your time and consideration in this matter. I hope you have a wonderful amazing week ahead and that someone does something very nice and thoughtful for you too

  • To create a palette from a photo

I think I saw this technique somewhere in my forgotten experience: Say you have a photo of a pretty lizard on a nice rocky background. You like it so much you want to use these colors to create something new -- a theme, a site, an illustration. I thought I saw a way to get the colors from a color table generated by the photo -- as in SaveForWeb gif -- to put those colors into your swatches. Looking through Help indexes I can't seem to formulate a question to generate instructions for how to do it.
I know there are many color libraries, I see Load Swatches, I just don't know how to get my lizard colors to a format that then I could load...
While we're at it, about color and planning color for web sites, any good guide-books or articles to read? I want millions of colors even if there is some risk that not everyone will see the shades I see... I'm not sticking to web safe. Lotta trouble with lost saturation when SavingForWeb too.

Good answers, thanks, I love colorhunter. And I'm grateful to be told PNG has gamma issues, I often use png, but I bounce between jpg, gif and png so much depending on various issues, file size, smoother edges, and best saturation. Sometimes I save the file directly from Photoshop SaveAs as a jpg or png and use the larger result simply because it gives better saturation, and I just try to keep it small. Rather than SaveForWeb.
Evidently there is not a way to get a bunch of the gif table into the swatches?
