  • Crystal reports from command line

    Post Author: DrewJ

    Hi,
I need to run Crystal reports from the command line.
Does anyone know how to pass parameter arguments when launching the application?
    I have tried cr32w.exe c:\reports\report.rpt arg="099909"
(which launches the right report, but does not pass in the arg)
    Is it possible?
    Thanks in advance,
    Drew Johnston

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply.  The application would not be on the same server as the machine.  So if I used the command that you gave me would that actually run the report (ie refresh the data and then save the report ,as instructed in the settings, on to the network location).  Or would it just open up the report.  Also, how would I send parameters to the report, eg Dates or Status.
This is the scenario.  At the moment a user would input data on to database via an external applicaion.  After inputting all the data, they would then have to log into Crystal Infoview.  Navigate to the report.  They would then click on the Schedule hyperlink.  They would change the parameters eg Start Date and End Date.   And then press the Schedule button.  The report would then refresh the data, and as specified in the Destination, it would write out to a network location.
So we want the external app to write a command line prompt, so that the user did not have to log onto Crystal at all.  The application would send the relevant parameters and run the crystal report automatically without the user having to log into Crystal at all.
    Regards,
    Prakash

  • How to run a 10g report from command line ?

    Good Afternoon,
Please advise if there is a way to run a 10g report from command line.
We use 6i right now and our job scheduler runs reports using "D:\ORADEV6I\BIN\RWRUN60.EXE ..." executable in batch mode on a separate server. We plan to migrate to 10g Database, Forms, Reports. Is there a way to keep this functionality and create a "command" to address an report server and run a report?
    Thank you,
    Dmitri

    Steps to take.
(1.) In command prompt type RWSERVER SERVER=repserver1 to star the rep server.
(2.) If you get "Javaw.exe The procedure entry point psoasyn could not be located in the dynamic link library orapls10.dll." error do one of the following
(a.) Type the full name for the server. D:\OracleDevR2\bin\rwserver SERVER=repserver1
or, if it does not work
(b.) Add D:\OracleDevR2\bin to the system env. variable PATH
    (3.) Start OC4j
(4.) Now you can access the jobs using URL like:
        http://192.161.11.143:8890/reports/rwservlet/showjobs?server=repserver1
where 192.161.11.143 is your machine's IP address.

  • Running reports via command-line with /batch option

    Hi,
I have created a batch file which runs, and exports the results of 7 different discoverer reports with /batch option.
    Contents of batch file:
    c:\orant\discvr4\dis4usr /cmdfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\DRP Model Input1.txt"
    c:\orant\discvr4\dis4usr /cmdfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\DRP Model Input2.txt"
    c:\orant\discvr4\dis4usr /cmdfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\DRP Model Input3.txt"
    c:\orant\discvr4\dis4usr /cmdfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\DRP Model Input4.txt"
    c:\orant\discvr4\dis4usr /cmdfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\DRP Model Input5.txt"
    c:\orant\discvr4\dis4usr /cmdfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\DRP Model Input6.txt"
    c:\orant\discvr4\dis4usr /cmdfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\DRP Model Input7.txt"
Sample of a cmd file the bacth file runs:....
    /connect user/password@oraprd /apps_responsibility "BIS Super User"
    /open "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\Dev\Intransit Extract.dis"
    /sheet 1 /export xls "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\Intransit Input.xls" /batch
The batch file runs ok and processes each report in sequence, and creates the excel export one after the other.
However, I need to process the 7 reports in parallel, so changed the batch file to process in own thread :
    start c:\orant\discvr4\dis4usr /cmdfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\DRP Model Input1.txt"
    start c:\orant\discvr4\dis4usr /cmdfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\DRP Model Input2.txt"
    start c:\orant\discvr4\dis4usr /cmdfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\DRP Model Input3.txt"
    start c:\orant\discvr4\dis4usr /cmdfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\DRP Model Input4.txt"
    start c:\orant\discvr4\dis4usr /cmdfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\DRP Model Input5.txt"
    start c:\orant\discvr4\dis4usr /cmdfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\DRP Model Input6.txt"
    start c:\orant\discvr4\dis4usr /cmdfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\automation\DRP Model Input7.txt"
The reports kick off at the same time and I can see 7 dis4usr.exe processes running via task manager
    Problem:
The first reports runs and exports ok.
All the others dis4usr.exe processing stops with the following error pop-up:
! Could not open file. OK
    Question:
Can you only process reports sequentially via command line mode with /batch option?
    If not...what am I missing...its driving me insane :)
All asistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ladies and gentlemen.....I have solved my problemo!
The reason why the rest of the reports were getting the 'could not open file.' error was due to the fact that each discoverer instance launched was
trying to access the same standard log file simultaneously.
I modified each cmd file to write logging info to individual files: eg
    /logfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\Automation\input2_log.txt"
Now that's there's no contention with logging, the reports are firing off beautifully in parallel :)
I am definitely having a beer this evening!
Thanks for everyone's input...kept me on the righteous path :)

  • JRC bug: apostrophe in string parameter passed to Crystal Report with Command datasource to SQL Server

    Post Author: nl11087
    CA Forum: JAVA
A single quote/apostrophe in string parameter passed to a Crystal Report with Command datasource connecting to a SQL Server database, using sqljdbc driver does not escape the special character correctly. When doing a preview in the Crystal Reports IDE it allows you to escape the input parameter as expected and work correctly, but through the JRC component it fails. For string parameters without special sql server characters I experience no problems at all. When replacing the Command with a direct table there is also no problem.
    Reproduction:
    1. create a database db1, create a table table1 with a String type column col1.
    2. Create new report Report1.rpt, create a connection to above, Add Command using 'SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM table1 WHERE col1 = '{?Par1}' . Add a parameter field Par1 : String
    3. In your java stand alone application using JRC add the parameter Par1 with a value "Jon Doe's Value" containing a single apostrophe. Export to PDF. (I also tried MSWord and this failed too, similar behavior). Additionally, in another test try to replaceAll("'","''") to escape it, preventing the code to break, but now it does not retrieve the expected row anymore and you end up with an empty report.

  • To run a report from command line, when using jdbc-odbc bridge

    Hi,
How to run a report from command line, when using jdbc-odbc bridge?
Usually with tns, we do by "rwrun module=<> userid=<user>/<passwd>@tns".
with odbc, we do by "rwrun module=<> userid=<user>/<passwd>@odbc:DSN"
Please specify, what is command line arguments for jdbc-odbc bridge driver?
Environment : Oracle 9i Report Builder on WinNT
    Database : Sybase
    Regards,
    Ramanan

    Hello Ramanan,
Report Builder : connect JDBC Query in Report Builder is to through Connection Dialog in JDBC Query Editor. User can use a Sign on parameter (can use, default : P_JDBCPDS or can create new) to connect to JDBC Data Source. Connection once made will be mentioned and will be reused through out Reports Builder.
JDBC PDS allows user to connect one or more same or different kind of databases.
While running report through runtime or Server, user can pass the sign on parameter(connection string) value, like any other user parameter.
Syntax for connection string : <username>/<password>@databaseURL . The syntax of database part of connection string depend on the type of JDBC Driver used to connect to Data Source while designing the JDBC Query. databaseURL refer to the location of the database and its format depend on the JDBCPDS river selected in design time while creating the JDBC Query.
    rwrun eg :
    rwrun report=jdbc_odbc.rdf destype=file desname=output.html desformat=html P_JDBCPDS=scott/tiger@database
    Server eg :
    http://server.com:8888/servlet/RWServlet?server=MyReportServer+report=jdbc_odbc.rdf+destype=cache+desformat=html+P_JDBCPDS=scott/tiger@database

  • Crystal report SQL Command and using IN

    Post Author: geozuh
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Does any one know how to get a multiple value prompts to work in Crystal report SQL Commands? I have an extremely large database and do not want to pull back all the records to the report. I know I can do the filtering in the report, but due to the size of the database, I am restricked from doing do.
I would like to set the State as a multiple value parameter/prompt to be used in the SQL Command.
    Ex.
    Select CustID, FirstName, LastName
    from Customer
where State in ('WI', 'IL', 'MN') --this would be turned into a parameter

    Post Author: yangster
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
you are over thinking the problemsimply create a parameter within crystal for your state and change it to allow multiple valuesthen in the select expert put in state = ?stateif you do show sql query you will see that the values are pushed down to the sql level thus no performance hit vs putting the parameter directly in the command itself

My computer: Mac OS X (10.3.9) had froze, couldn't force quit..and i forced started it by holding the power button. Restarted it, came on: the grey-screen and apple, spinning-gear...satayed like that long time then it went into Command-Line_Mode.

    PLEASE HELP!
    WHAT Should i do?
If nothing works, could i start-up from OS 9.2.2? (Both Systems OSX and OS_9.2.2 were installed)
If the B-tree is corrupt, does it being shared by both OSX and OS_9.2.2?
    THANK YOU

    Hi Kappy,
Thank you for taking an interest.
I already tryed to start_up from CD, but it either didn't started-up
or it started still in Command-Line-Mode.
Put the CD in the tray, startedUP with the C_Key Held.
It took a little longer and seemed it was going to start from CD but went into CommanLine again.
    but instead of
    :/root#
it said something else, something like:
2e_sh.. (Something! i could redo it and write it down here if it will help)
Other times i tryed to bootUP from CD by holding-down the Option-Key and saw the install-CD icon next to
OSX-Icon, so i chose the CD and hit the Straight-ARROW-Icon to start up from the CD, but again it fell
    into CommandLine.
If i try the Target-Disk-Mode with a healty-Mac, could i be able to see my HD. Then i can switch to
OS_9.2.2 which i spose is healty because i was using OS_10.3 when this problem happened. And the way
i think, if the B-tree Catalog is not being shared by both Systems, if each have its own one, then the
OSX's B-tree Catalog have been corrupted, not OS9's, and so if i could change the start-up-system(Disk)
somehow, i could be able to start the computer with OS_9.2.2 running. Both systems were installed,
and i was switching back and forth between them. Then i can fix my computer by, at least, starting
to throw away some of the junk and so making some free-space.
I had read that HD should not be full more than 85%. I had 2.5GB space left out of 40GB.
    But if there is a risk that things like this could happen because your HD is too full;
why arn't they (Apple) fix this, buy, at least, showing as if you HD is full before it gets
too full to leave a safety net for the B-tree Catalog files evidently that need to be written
in continuous blocks on the HD.
So thank you again, and keep me posted if you might think something else could fix my computer. I need
    this computer.
    thanks

  • Passing user defined parameters in oracle reports thru command line

    Hi All
We are currently using Reports 6i with Oracle 10g 10.2.0.4.0
I would like to know that is it possible to pass user defined parameters values while calling report from command line.
For Example: I am using following coding to call report from command line.
    for /f "tokens=1-3 delims=/ " %%a in ('date /t mm/dd/yyyy -1') do (
    set mm=%%b
    set dd=%%a
    set yyyy=%%c)
    rwrun60 report=c:\reports\banks.rdf userid=express/test@test_rs2 destype=FILE desname=c:\reports\banks%dd%%mm%%yyyy%.pdf desformat=PDF BACKGROUND=NO BATCH=YES
The report contains some user defined parameter which is using in where condition of reqport query.
    Select * from banks
    where id = :Bank_ID
Now I want to Pass value for :Bank_Id from command line (like we pass parameter list while calling report with run_product), how it is possible?
    Thanks
    Hassan

    Hi guys
Fortunately I am able to perform the required task as I just added the report parameter field as follows:
    rwrun60 report=c:\reports\banks.rdf userid=express/test@test_rs2 destype=FILE desname=c:\reports\banks%dd%%mm%%yyyy%%h%%mi%%ss%%ts%.pdf desformat=PDF BACKGROUND=NO BATCH=YES ERRFILE=c:\reports\error.log LOGFILE=c:\reports\joblog.log bank_id='MCB'
bank_id is the report parameter using in where clause.

    Hassan

  • Latest DNG converter not working in command-line mode

Today I downloaded Adobe's latest DNG converter. It is failing with both .NEF and .CR2 files when run in command-line mode. It does appear to work in GUI mode. The switches+arguments I've used for my tests are:
    -u -e -p1 filename.CR2
    (or filename.NEF)
With an older (CS2) version of the converter, the above arguments produce a .DNG output file as expected (with .CR2 files; I didn't try it with D3 .NEF files; surely that older version doesn't support the D3's format).
With the very latest version, running the program with the above command produces no output. There's no error message.
The 'readme' file that comes with the converter doesn't include any information about command-line usage, but I did find a PDF file covering this (adobe.com/products/dng/pdfs/dng_commandline.pdf). The switches+arguments shown in the PDF file appear to be exactly the ones I used in the past.
I'm sure I'll need to use the most recent version to convert D3 RAW files. Is there something wrong with how I'm specifying its command-line switches/arguments?

It struck me silly that I've been running tests with v.3.3 when 5.2 is the latest, so I downloaded it. The setup "wizard"...hmm, why is it a "wizard"? It provides no choice of installation path. I didn't realize this because immediately after I'd launched it, I knocked something onto the floor, reached down to pick it up ... and looked back up just in time to see the "wizard" complete the installation...but where, I didn't know. It didn't display any information about where it had installed the app. Adventures In Discoverability. :) I hunted around on the hard drive until I found it (C:\Program Files\Adobe -- well, at least you can launch it if you think to look for it in the 'Start' menu). So ... that needs a bit of work. Anyway, I copied the app into a directory of my choice -- one that's in my system's %PATH%, replacing spaces in the name with underscores. It works fine in that directory -- no problem with the name-change as far as I can tell. Now back to the fun stuff...
This version doesn't seem to require a fully qualified path to the input file or to the output directory when "-d" is used. That's an improvement. IOW, this worked:
    converter -p1 -d DNG filename
where "converter" is the program's name, "DNG" is the name of a subdirectory of the directory where I'm running the test, and "filename" is the name of a RAW file in that directory.
The program still doesn't know how to create a directory (or ask about creating one if it doesn't exist). Fails silently if "-d" is used and the specified directory doesn't exist. But at least this version returns an exit code of 1 due to the failure -- better than returning 0.
Still doesn't understand wildcards. Hope done sprang eternal there for a moment, but oh well. Back to "for" loops...
Still fails silently, returning exit code 0 (oops), if a nonsensical command-line is used (e.g., using "-c" as the only argument).
Hey, how about a truly silly command-line error -- a command line including both "-c" and "-u". What happens? It "consumes" the first of the two mutually exclusive switches, ignoring the second -- you get a compressed DNG file. Swap the order of the switches, and you get an uncompressed file. (I'd vote for a syntax-error message in that case, m'self.)
Interestingly strange little program...If I run it from the command line, it drops back to the command line immediately after I press ENTER. That makes it appear to have failed. But it hasn't -- it's running in the background, and a few seconds later the DNG file is created. But, if I run it from within a batch file, it does NOT return control to me until it has completed writing the output file. Wonder what's up with that.
    Fun stuff. :)
