CS 5 Freezing: set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug

Been using CS 3 for a while and upgraded to CS 5 and it's been BUGGY to the point I can't rely upon it for my work.  Recently had the application freeze and checking the console I found:
10/13/10 5:08:17 PM [0x0-0x27027].com.adobe.Photoshop[277] *** error: can't allocate region
10/13/10 5:08:17 PM [0x0-0x27027].com.adobe.Photoshop[277] *** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug

etc... repeating it self then:

Any idea's what's up?  I do have some third party plug-ins (Nik Color Efex 3.1, NoiseNinja_macintel_2_3_5)
And where else can I turn to for help solving this?  As it is, I can't use the upgrade in it's current state.
Thanks

Actually.. i'll save you the search. here it is:

Seems some systems REALLY dislike Photoshop CS5, regardless of what you do to try and help it. I'm the lucky owner of one such system.

Launch the Console application by entering the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search, and look under "User Diagnostic Reports" for crash logs related to "login." Select the most recent one and post the contents -- the text, please, not a screenshot.

  • ARD "set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug"

    Hi there,
suddenly our server is acting very strange. It seems something is somehow looping constantly. I tried to startup my Console app but that tool crashed immediately. So i looked up manually in the logfiles of the system (/var/log) in a texteditor. There i saw a strange error about my ARDAgent what is constantly giving a loop error about a "breakpoint in mallocerrorbreak" .. See screendump below.
Does somebody know what this is for a strange error? This error is new for me and it is driving me nuts, i cant find a serious solution for this mallocerrorbreak issue.

It seems that I've solved the looping ARDAgent problem.
I deleted all the files in the /var/log/asl, after a reboot the CPU and the ARDAgent was acting normaly again.
    mallocerrorbreak error stayed away.

When i try to open the Terminal I get this error. How can I fix it?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Slow time machine, console messages: mdworker: unable to talk to lsboxd, and mdworker 32:kCGErrorFailure:set a breakpoint@CGErrorBreakpoint()

Current problem: Time machine running extremely slowly as is computer. When time machine is "preparing to update" if I attempt to open any drive, that function freezes the computer.
I followed web advice to check for console message:  mdworker: unable to talk to lsboxd.  Found that to be present.  As recommended, I turned off computer, restarted in safe mode, logged in and restarted computer.  checked console, I see this same message and another message that may be problematic: mdworker: 32: kCGErrorFailure: set a breakpoint@CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch srrors as they are logged.
Both these messages being recorded every few minutes in the console log.

    thank you,

    Hello Mr Davis,
Thanks for your willingness to help I really appreciate your assistance.
I decided to watch what was happening a bit more to see if I could discern a pattern to the problem so that I could pose a more refined question.
This am, after the computer was left on all night, I noticed time machine (TM) was running.  I opened the console window, and noted after entering "starting" in the search field corresponding to "all messages"  that hourly, there is a notation:
date, time, then "starting standard backu" followed by date, time and starting post backup thinning".
However, then there is the entry below at 12:25:46am referring to "starting standard backup" and there is no subsequent entry in the log referring to thinning having occured.  I wonder if this corresponds to TM running now and I am guessing, ever since 12:25:46 am?
Once again, it seems that the problem is that when TM is running in this fashion, the computer slows down tremendously and operating particular programs such as photo processing lightroom that require more power, become very slow in particular.
I copied and pasted a section of the log as it seems to repeat the same sequence of information over and over all night long.  I did not copy and paste the entire log since 12:25:46 am, as I wanted to not paste an excessive amount of lines here, but can do that if you like.
I hope I followed your directions correctly. thanks again, Jeff

  • Time machine osx 10.6.8 problem slow backupd CFPropertyListCreateFromXMLData(): Old-style plist parser: missing semicolon in dictionary. mdworker32 kCGErrorFailure: Set a breakpoint @ CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch errors as they are logged.

Hello Guys I have a problem that I can not get to the bottom.
Time Machine has suddenly stopped working it really slow to make up. Copy a few kb at a time and long hours it takes to close the back. (up to a few tens of megs, 10, 20 Mb).
I made the following list of tests that will follow along with the log file.
First of all I made a copy as root with Carbon Copy Cloner disk of the iMac. (So that they can go back in case of disaster)
Following the guides Pondini (pondini.org) I did the following steps:
    1) Changed the internfaccia FW800 to USB hard drive (does not change anything, still slow)
    2) Changed to another external HD for time machine with FW800 and USB (nothing changes still slow)
    3) Recreated the full backup with Time Machine on either drive (still slow)
    4) Reinstalled the 10.6.8 Combo Pack (still slow)
    5) Re spootlight indexed with the disk (still slow)
    6) At this point, in desperation I reinstalled on the internal drive of my iMac 10.6.8 creating a new user, User Migration Assistant from my hd clone with Carbon Copy Cloner. Recreated the full backup with Time Machine.
The first full backup is fast, but slow incremental backups are back (as to 'start a few kb at a time).
I compared the log files with those of my other machine with same configuration and I found these errors:
backupdir [19376]: CFPropertyListCreateFromXMLData (): Old-style plist parser: missing semicolon in dictionary.
mdworker32 [20950]: kCGErrorFailure: Set a breakpoint @ CGErrorBreakpoint () to catch errors logged as They Are.
You know help me? I saw that this error is from 10.5 to 10.7, but no one has found a real solution to the issue.
I never installed antivirus software and tried with different external drives COPN capacity equal to or greater than the external drive. Only at the end I tried to divide the external drive to back up into two parts by a 1.5 TB and 500 GB but with the same mistakes that I have described.
    thanks
    Stefano
backupd[19376]: CFPropertyListCreateFromXMLData(): Old-style plist parser: missing semicolon in dictionary.
mdworker32[20950]: kCGErrorFailure: Set a breakpoint @ CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch errors as they are logged.
Sapete darmi aiuto?
    grazie
    Stefano

    Thanks for the quick response.
I followed the steps you listed and also remove the files that were creating problems spootlight, including the audio plugin and the panel preferences file.
Then I stopped by the timemachine reindexed spootlight 'option in the preferences panel spootight privacy. After I restarted my iMac and formatted the external drive again, Time Machine and restarting a full backup. This morning after a quick full backup and disk indexing completed incremental backups are always slow. Proceeds with a few kb at a time. I resend you the log files and screen capture. My iMac is constantly backed up.
    Thank you for your time.

  • I can't figure out how to set a breakpoint in a SenTestingKit unit test

I'm learning Cocoa after decades of doing other languages. I'm trying to use SenTestingKit for unit tests. One of my unit tests doesn't work, and I want to set a breakpoint to figure out why. So far, I haven't figured out how to do this.
I found Chris Hanson's instructions for how to do this, but he apparently wrote them for an earlier version of Xcode, and I don't know enough to adapt them.
I am writing a tutorial document for writing a simple Cocoa App using Xcode 3.1, git, SenTestingKit, and OCMock. It's at http://xorandor.com/FirstCocoaApp. I've got it up to the point of trying to debug a unit test, and I'm stuck there.
I also couldn't figure out how to have Xcode run the unit tests while building the application. Again, Chris' instructions didn't quite do it, and I don't know enough to figure out the rest.
So, if you know how to do this, please give me some hints. I'll put those into my tutorial, so that the next people who need this can find it.
    Thanks,
    Pat

I figured out more of my problem, but I haven't solved it yet.
What happens is that, after I create a test case, I try to run it with a breakpoint. After I start the program, Xcode turns the breakpoint from blue (meaning active) to orange (meaning that it can't set the breakpoint).
Several people have said to turn off the Lazy symbol loading preference. I did that, and that didn't fix the problem.
I wrote up a detailed list of steps that I took at http://www.xorandor.com/DebugQuestion.txt
I also put a copy of the project file at http://xorandor.com/MyProject.tar
If anyone has any suggestions on what to try next, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Pat

  • How can I set up breakpoints in eclipse for jsp?

I saw somebody can set up breakpoints in eclipse for jsp.
But I can not do that on my eclipse.
    What's the difference?
    Thanks.

I don't think this had a keyboard shortcut even before (checked in CS6). There's an alternative though.
    1. Create a JSFL file with following code and save it in the commands folder as 'Remove Tween'.
         fl.getDocumentDOM().getTimeline().setFrameProperty('tweenType', 'none');
    2. Now goto Edit Menu > Keyboard Shortcuts..
    3. Search for 'Remove Tween' and assign a keyboard shortcut to it.
Now everytime you press the assigned key - jsfl script is executed which essentially removes the tween from selected frame. (works for Classic and Shape tween but not Motion Tweens)

  • How do I set a breakpoint in a Java Server page (.jsp)?

I have set up an application for remote debugging and am able to connect to it from JDeveloper. When the code execution comes to breakpoints that I have set in java (.java) files they work and the application stops so I can debug etc.
This also applies to breakpoints set in java code that is called from Java Server pages.
However if I set breakpoints directly in a java server page whether it is in html code or in java code (such as scriplets) the execution does not stop and the breakpoints are ignored.
Why? Is there some extra thing I have to do? I have tried in Project Properties/Run/Debug/Profile/Edit/Launch Settings to choose server as Virtual Machine for instance but that does not change anything.
Comment. I do not know if this is of interest but I am going to add some java server pages to an application and they are defined in a directory like this:
    . . . src\org\yawlfoundation\yawl\resourcing\jsf\jsp
but when the tomcat deploys the .war file they end up here:
    . . . apache-tomcat-6.0.18\webapps\resourceService
As I can find no package declaration in a .jsp file this should not matter but I mention it anyway.

    Hi user10477024,
thanks for explaining your background on what you are trying to do and I do understand the approach you are taking. Unlike user10689900's completely random post.
I've tried to convey why there is no support for JSP debugging in JDev, but again the main reason is that the current frameworks do not code Java directly into a JSP. The JSP is purely used to position the components on the page aiding visual design and real Java classes in tag libs do the rest.
    So the evolution has been:
Servlets (Java classes writing HTML logic and intermingling presentation and business logic)
JSP 1.0 JSP (HTML looking) files where you can add scriptlets enclosed in <% ... %> <- you are here
JSP 1.1 Introduction of Tags and Tag libraries, tag libraries are true java classes and the JSP controls layout and simpler more elegant design.
Really JSP 1.1 is all about building reusable components together in tag libraries that can be reused across pages and improving design by not mixing presentation and business logic code together.
If I had inherited something as you have, my advice (if you can) would be to code up some tag libraries because it would be a good learning experience and would be very helpful for moving to more advanced frameworks like JSF.
    regards,
    Brenden

  • How can I set a breakpoint for a BAPI call in SE37?

    Hi,
I am trying to debug a BAPI call from an external system in R/3 4.6C.
In SCM4.1, the SE37 transaction has an aoption under Utilities->Settings ABAP Editor/Debugging tab to activate external debugging. But in R/3 4.6C no such tab exists.
Is there any other way of doing this in R/3 4.6C?
    Thanks,
    Chris Brookes.

    Hi,
Unfortunately I cannot chage the source code of the FM since it is not a development system so I cannot insert a BREAKPOINT statement.
Also, just setting a breakpoint in SE37, even if logged in as the same user who calls the BAPI does not work.
Btw, the call to the BAPI is done via .NET.
It seems that SE37 in R/3 4.6C just doesn't have the same options as in SCM4.1.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks,
    Chris Brookes.

  • Can you set a BREAKPOINT and step through it

    Hello all,
How do set a breakpoint in the app so that one can step through it and no where it is failing and the value of the variables returned?
    Thanks

If you are trying to debug server side PL/SQL program units, you could use DBMS_DEBUG.

  • Need help setting a breakpoint and watching a variable

I have a very basic newbie question. I am trying to follow a variable's value through xcode's debugger. Here is what I have tried:
    1. set a breakpoint on the line of the variable I want to watch.
    2. click "build and debug"
    3. click "pause" in the debugger window
However, none of the information that comes up in the debugger is recognizable as the variable I want to "watch".
Is there something I need to do in the "breakpoints" window in order to watch a variable's value as I step through the program?
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

I understand your point about the pause button stopping the program where ever the program happens to be when you hit the pause button. That actually makes intiative sense to me.
In fact the only reason I tried the pause button was because the debugger did not seem to be stopping the way I expected (which by the way is exactly the behavior you just decribed).
To follow last instructions as best I could I:
    1. Opened the project ClaendarView in /Develper/Examples/Carbon/
    2. Set a breakpoint in the file main.c line 51 (enum) by clicking in the gutter of the line 51. The preakpoint appears yellow.
    3. Clicked the debug button in the debugger window (the the "build and debug" button). I get a message about "running" and "program loaded" in the debugger window.
GDB runs, and then a calendar window appears. If I understand your last point. the debugger should hit line 51 in main.c long before it executes enough code to open the application.
Is there something more to setting a breakpoint besides double clicking in the gutter of the line number where you want the breakpoint?

  • How can i set a breakpoint on a default constructor

I'd like to catch all instances where a specific class is constructed but only the default constructor exists and it is implicitly defined.  How can I break in the default constructor?
    thanks,

There is no code where you want a breakpoint, so I'm not sure what instruction you'd like the debugger to break your program at.  ???
Since your goal is only to "catch" all instances where a specific class is constructed I think the only thing is to modify your code to do so.  I can't think of an approach that doesn't require a code modification and recompile.  Especially
since it's not clear where such classes were inlined in already compiled code.  And because of that alone, I'm
fairly certain you have to instrument your code (modify your code by inserting something special) to catch it.
So can you modify the class you want to catch?  Just add a default constructor and set your breakpoint in there.
Alternatively if you really want to try to do what you are doing, you can step into any code that creates an instance of your class in disassembly and set a breakpoint in the disassembled code for the constructor (assuming you can locate it, and it even
    exists), then rerun your program.

  • Problem setting up Breakpoint Conditions

I am having a problem with getting my breakpoints(that have set conditions to work). While looping through a very large list I have set a breakpoint condition to halt execution when a specific string is encountered.
However each time execution goes through this line of code, I get the following message:
"Warning: The breakpoint condition "Acme Company".equals(MyStringVar)" could not be evaluated.
I have tried different variations of setting the condition but I always get the "could not be evaluated" message.
Anyone have an idea as to what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance,
    G

    For the following code:
    public class loop {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
        String a = "hello";
        for (int i = 1; i < 30; i++)  {
                a = a+i;
                System.out.println(a);
}I can use the condition on the a=a+i line saying:
    a.equals("hello1234")
and it breaks on the right event.

  • 10.6.8 wikiserver & QTKitServer: kCGErrorFailure: Set a breakpoint @ CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch errors as they are logged.

    Hi Fellows,
Since a couple of days I can't upload images and pdf's to my wiki anymore. What happens is that the image or pdf gets uploaded once and processed 3 or 4 times (I can find them in the corresponding /Library/Collaboration/ folder). But the image or pdf does not show up in the wikipage and throws up a server error message instead: There was an error uploading the file. Please try again.
Stop/Start the wikid proces solves the problem shortly until after a couple of hours the problems start occuring again.
On the server side I see this:
Oct 10 08:08:37 myserver com.apple.wikid[41152]: Wed Oct 10 08:08:37 myserver.x.net QTKitServer[45631] <Error>: kCGErrorFailure: Set a breakpoint @ CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch errors as they are logged.

Ok, here is the culprit, not a solution sofar
Safari 6 is breaking the upload mechanism of the Snow Leopard wiki server. They all end up in loops and gracefully fail and die after around 5 attempts.
Gecko, Trident and Presto as well as Webkit based Chrome have no problem at all with uploading, just Apple's own Safari.
Bug will be filed and will investigate more server side.
