CSS DoS illegal Src Attack

Hi,
On my CSS 11506, logs are full of these kind of error messages:
"NETMAN-5: Enterprise:DOS Attack:Illegal Src -> 5 times". It also generates a trap every seconds, flooding our syslogd and trapd server.
The first information one would obviously require is which IP address, and on which interface, is causing this error message.
I had a look at the "sh dos" command and I can see the counter for "Illegal Src Attacks" increasing (quite logical), BUT then in the detailed events, I can't see any of these events, I only see few SYN Attacks detailed events.
So does anyone know where I can get the details for these "Illegal Src Attacks" events ?
Many Thanks for any help,
Regards,
Arno

Hi to all,
i desperate need your help.
I got a very similar problem with CSS.
Same DoS attack. (many Syn Attack visible in the "show dos" detailed command and many Src Attack but only in the counters)
The strange thing is that the ip address involved are unicast ip (not multicast).
I've not understand many things.
The first is , what's the reason why CSS see that 10.6.27.133 is an Illegal Src??? (It's in this case the .133 is the ip address of interface 6/9 of CSS)
OS Attack Event  1:
First Attack: 31/08/2010 22:52:24
Last Attack:  31/08/2010 22:52:34
Source Address:             10.6.27.133 Destination Address:         10.6.84.69
Event Type:                 Illegal Src Total Attacks:                        3
Someone can help me to understand?
Below is the "show dos" with one event as an example
Total Attacks: 33170637
SYN Attacks:                 14,843,912 Maximum per second:                 284
LAND Attacks:                         0 Maximum per second:                   0
Zero Port Attacks:                    0 Maximum per second:                   0
Illegal Src Attacks:         18,325,982 Maximum per second:                 224
Illegal Dst Attacks:                743 Maximum per second:                   4
Smurf Attacks:                        0 Maximum per second:                   0
DOS Attack Event 12:
First Attack: 31/08/2010 22:18:34
Last Attack:  31/08/2010 22:31:26
Source Address:             10.6.67.167 Destination Address:     113.213.43.145
Where do you suggest to investigate??
Many thanks,
M.G.

  • CSS wrongly reports SYN attacks

    Hi all,
in our environment we have a CSS 11800 which is connected to 3 servers which are all running the same
services. Every night there is a log rotation and therefor the services are taken down one by one.
The CSS forwards traffic to the service even if it's down.
From the time the sevice is down i can see always a huge amount of SYN attacks reported in the traplog.
The reason for this is that the server sends a RST for every SYN request (which is normal as the port
    is down).
We are running on SW version 5.00 build 63.
Can you tell me how long it takes until the CSS detects the service as down and if there is a newer release which maybe detects a RST as a valid response to a SYN and therefor doesn't report a SYN attack.

I don't see why you do not shutdown the service manually during maintenance ?
Regarding how fast the CSS detect a service down it depends on the sort of keepalive you have configured.
If you are using icmp keepalive the CSS may still believe the service is active if it continues to respond to ping.
Again the fastest way for the CSS to detect a service down is to configure it be down.
No release will accept the RST.
This is your job to make sure the CSS does not forward traffic to a service down.
    Gilles.

  • CSS DoS

Is DoS protection a built-in feature of CSS11500?
How to configure DoS and how to block intrusion from the output of show dos ?
    Thanks,
    tony

DoS is built in to the CSS, there is no configuration for it expect for snmp trap generation for DoS detection. CSS is not a firewall, its DoS detection is limited to obvious things, such as source and destination addresses being the same - land, smurf, half open syn, loopback or broadcast addresses, source address that the box owns etc.

  • CSS 11000 Clients' Src IP replaced with VIP's IP

    Dear all,
    Topology:
    10.1.101.X/24 ---CSS11000--- 10.1.103.X/24(Server Farm)
    Configuration:

    add service LBS_AP-12:11111
    port 11111
    protocol tcp

    Problem:
We notice that the traffic's Src IP address from the Client side(10.1.101.X)has been replaced by the CSS's VIP address = 10.1.103.10 (through Sniffer)
Is that correct or reasonable ?
The configuration was implemented by another Cisco Partner.
Our customer wants me to find out why they cannot see the Client's IP address as the Src IP address when the traffic is from 101.X to 103.X
Is there still anything that I have to provide to you experts, plz let me know this.

    Dear Gilles,
Yes, we do have a group statement as follow:
    ########## Group ##########
    group LBS
    vip address 10.1.103.10
    add destination service LBS_AP-11:11111
    add destination service LBS_AP-12:11111
    active
The question is . . . when we remove the group statement as mentioned above, the patron can finally see the traffic definitely from the client side(101.X/24) and destined to the VIP(10.1.103.10).
But, unfortunately, there are some DB servers on the same side of the Server Farm(103.X) having no access to the VIP(10.1.103.10).
(They could & did access to the VIP when the group statment was configured.)
What can I do now for this situation?
I am totally confused with "sourcegroup", "one-armed scenario",& "ACL".
The patron said they want to see the true Src IP addresses from 101.X and still have the DBs on the 103.X network access to the VIP 10.1.103.10.
DBs IP Addresses range from 10.1.103.15 to 10.1.103.20, etc.
If there is still anything that I should provide to you experts, plz let me know that.

  • Upgrade from 2.2.1 to 3.1.2: Breaks JS and CSS?

Upgraded from 2.2.1 to 3.1.2. The upgrade went fine but most JS and CSS seems to be broken.
    Examples
    1. Javascript functions not defined: redirect, html_ShowElement
    2. Template button images are broken. See http://i41.tinypic.com/294pgso.jpg
My page templates are mostly unchanged, i.e. they have stuff like
    #HEAD#
    <title>#TITLE#</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_10/theme_V2.css" type="text/css" />
This seems to be generating the following HTML
    <script src="/i/javascript/htmldb_html_elements.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="/i/javascript/htmldb_get.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    < link rel="stylesheet" href="/i/css/core_V22.css" type="text/css" />
    < ! -- [ if IE]><link rel="stylesheet" href="/i/css/core_ie_V22.css" type="text/css" /><![endif]-->
    < link rel="stylesheet" href="/i/themes/theme_10/theme_V2.css" type="text/css" />
Version 3.1.2 seems to have changed stuff around. I tried creating symbolic links from htmldb_html_elements.js -> apex_3_1.js and htmldb_get.js -> apex_get_3_1.js and this got me past the Undefined errors but now I get 'apex is not defined'.
Is there a quick way to upgrade all the applications to the new way of doing things? I am not looking forward to modifying all my page templates!
    Help!
    Thanks

Sorry, my fault, my database got refreshed from one containing Apex v 2.2.1 without my knowledge and the OHS images folder was still pointing to the that from the 3.1.2 distribution. This was causing the problem. When I upgraded Apex to v3.1.2 again, everything is back to normal.
The #HEAD# substitution string in my page templates automatically pulls in the appropriate JS/CSS libraries
    <script src="/i/javascript/apex_ns_3_1.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="/i/javascript/apex_3_1.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Do you know what I do to see the scroll bar?
Yep, background images won't force scrollbars to appear. You need to add more html content to your page, over your background images, to get scrollbars.
The background image is still quite large. Should I reduce the size of the original image? I thought that is done in CSS.
Images online should be reduced to the smallest pixel size and lowest possible quality setting as they can be, while still looking acceptable to you. Use Photoshop's Save For Web and Devices option to get a 4 up version of your image at varying settings. When it's the smallest pixel size you want, with the "lowest still good" quality settings, click that version and save it to your site. That will cut out unnecessary file size and help your site load much faster.
If you want to use a larger image for your background, and resize it with css, you need to use the background-size attribute: CSS3 background-size property however, this is not well supported on old browsers and may not resize to your settings.
I can't see things in DW Design I have to go to live preview
Design View is a bit of a misnomer. It can't and won't ever show you your exact design, in all honesty, it should be renamed something along the lines of Framework View or Click to Select View. There have been some rumblings that it's going to go the way of the dinosaurs, with the advent of Live View Editing, but so far it's just hearsay. Always use the actual browsers you plan to support with Preview in Browser during development. Live View is much better than Design View at showing you your actual site, but it's only a webkit rendering (Chrome or Safari) and doesn't show you the subtle differences from IE compared to modern, standards-compliant browsers.

  • CSS okay in IE but not recognized by FF and Safari

I have a style sheet for image floats that is attached to a html document within a php file that is recognized by IE but is not recognized by Firefox and Safari. I have attached it as an internal style sheet as well as an external style sheet and neither makes a difference.  HELP!

I've cleaned up the code in the html file within the php file per your instructions by removing the embedded CSS and deleting the <html>, <head> and <body> tags.  This seemed to clear any conflicts on the php file (http://www.mdy.lib.in.us/index.php). However the page is still showing okay in IE but not in FF and Safari. Below is my revised html code...what am I not getting right?

  • SWC CSS Font Embedding

I have a Flex library which uses a defaults.css to style custom components. Some of these components use an embedded font. I had been doing this in CSS using the src: directive inside a @font-face. In Flex 3, the only way I could get this to work was by placing the font files themselves (otf format) at the root level of the Flex Library Project. This means I'd reference them using only their names in the src: directive.
When transitioning to Flex 4, I've got the namespace set up and all of that is working just fine, but the only way I can avoid "unable to transcode" errors is by placing the font files themselves in the Flex application project which I am building, which is simply pulling in the SWC. This is not ideal as there are many projects which use the SWC library, it worked much better to have the fonts compiled into a self-contained SWC.
I saw an example which just happened to place the files at assets/fonts so I have tried that as well.
As before, the fonts are included in the library under "Assets" in Flex Library Build Path.
Has anyone been successful embedding fonts using CSS? Oddly enough, I have some Actionscript which embeds these same fonts and that works fine! The only issue is when I try to do it using CSS @font-face.
    Thanks,
    -Patrick

Are you saying you were able to build the "AIR Project" with the style getting applied using the Library defaults.css, or are you saying you were simply able to build the Library project?
I was able to pull in the command-line compiled SWC by adding this to the compiler arguments for the AIR project to get it to work:
    -library-path+=../../Library/src/t.swc -compiler.theme=../../Library/src/t.swc
(the SWC I compiled at the command line happened to be called t.swc)
However, manually pulling in the SWC and pointing to it as the theme using the Properties window triggers the same transcoding errors. Something is different about the way Flash Builder 4 is using compc vs. this simple command line:
    compc -include-file Myriad.otf Myriad.otf -include-file defaults.css defaults.css -o t.swc
    I'm awfully confused.

  • How to connect the  flex and css file on the server..

when i work on my system, i just give source="abc.css" in style tag but when i upload its not working...can someone help me?

A common practice is to place the CSS files under <src><assets><styles>  directory in your project.
Then, in your MXML file  you  use them :<mx:Style source="/assets/styles/common.css"/>
When ready to publish to online server, you do as "Export release build" from your project menu.
This will generate all you need files in the "bin-release"  directory in your project environment.
You should upload all this content ( from the bin-release directory)  to your server.

  • SNMP - Scan and Syn Attack OIDs

    Hello support community,
Im looking for snmp oids for scan and syn attack, im trying to build a graph with cacti that would represent a historical with DOS and scan attacks. I have looked MIB and i dont see anything jumping at me about these OIDs. Can you please help me on finding these?
    Thanks,
    Delmiro

I opened a casa with TAC, and they stated that these oids are not supported. I thought i would post my findings here incase anyone else was looking for them.

  • Problem with Horizontal Spry Menu

    Hi,
I have trawled through the forum to see if I can find an answer to my problem, but couldnt locate one, so this is my first post.
I recently built this website for my wifes business and was using a simple menu bar without any dropdowns, just to get the site up and running (healingthreads.com.au). Am now looking to do some enhancements and was looking to use a Spry Horizontal Menu Bar. All was going well in that I was able to insert the menu bar and get it in the right position, however the dropdowns below the top level items (ie. Item 1.1, Item 1.2 etc) are getting hidden behind one of the other DIV's and despite trying changing z-index values, am still not able to get the dropdowns to display in front of the main DIV. Have run out of ideas and am hoping the wisdom of the forum will be able to assist. I have the same problem on the Index page as well as the other pages on the site. The website is fairly basic at the moment and is simply promoting her courses and products.
Unfortunately am not able to post live code to a server for you to test on, so best that I can do is post the code for a page and for the CSS sheets.  I have left the standard Spry code in place in the source code to show that the problem exists without and fancy changes that I have made to the Spry code. I have also removed the z-index properties that I had been playing around with. So, what I am attaching is the basic code that has the problem.
    Hope someone can help.

    Gramps,
Thanks for the prompt reply, greatly appreciated here in Sydney.
Re your response. When I preview the page in both Safari and Firefox, the dropdowns are not visible, just the top layer Items.
Dont understrand what is going on.
Am I doing something wrong when I am previewing the file?
    RThanks,
    Healing Threads.

  • Help with floating divs

    Hi All,
I have given up on the liquid template and now started from scratch with fixed divs.
My problem now is the floating elements.
I adapted this layout to a adobe tutorial with less divs so the floats and clears that the tutorial said some dont work.
Could someone look at my template and check the floating so as it sits like it does and wont move with content added.
I want to add a horizontal spry navigation bar at the bottom like the top but when i add another div it moves eveything and i get an error about 3px line gaps.
If I am not making sense please let me know
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
This is my code and css.
