CSV file bigger then 65535 rows

Hi
I have a customer wanting to download a CSV file bigger than the limit imposed by earlier versions of Excel 65535 rows.
Excel 2007 allows more rows.
Anyone know if it is possible to generate a longer CSV file than this?
Thanks
Mike

Mike,
I don't think if there is any restrictions on creating CSV file with more than 65535 rows, its just excel was unable to load the file properly before Excel 2007. You can open the larger files in a text editor.
Another way would be to create excel files and then keep on adding worksheet when record counts are higher than 65535. This would need additional efforts to created excel files.
Thanks,
Manish.

  • How to import large excel files which exceeds more then 65535 rows

    Hi there,
    I am using the latest Numbers version (v3.5.3) on the latest Yosemite (10.10.3) and wonder if and how it is possible to import an Excel file which exceeds the 65535 limit. I know MS Excel has change this limit to 156118 rows. But I don't have that program. I am only using the Mac versions.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello NavNak.
    My knee jerk reaction would be to split the incoming Excel file.  (How else can a gallon of water fit into a half gallon jug?)  I googled 'Excel file splitter' and up came a bunch of hits with one of them coming from this Apple Community.  Check out thread #6486876 which is How To Split Large Excel or CSV Files into Smaller Files
    Good luck.

  • Deleted contacts from iphone 4s, loaded new contacts from to phone from .csv file.  then I enabled icloud and it put all my old contacts back.

    My wife and I both have Iphones.  For the past 18 months her phone and mine had the same appleID (mine).  When I set up iCLoud backups and synch a month ago, my wifes phone ended up with all my contacts (1400+) and her's (<100) mixed together.  Didn't bother me, but drover her wild trying to find 'her' contacts.
    Oviously she needed to have her own appleID on her phone.
    After a lot of googling around I found the "Import Export Contacts" app.  It works great.  I opens a Service to a browser screen on a computer and can upload/download to/from the phone.
    I downloaded my copy of the combined contact list.  I found her's reletively easily by sorting on 'date changes' column.
    On her phone I deleted the contact file. and set up her own appleID
    I created a .csv with her contacts only and moved it into her phone. then set up the phone to manage contacts in the icloud properties screen.
    All her (and my) contacts came back.  I thought when I deleted the contacts on her phone, the iclud synch woudl deleted them on icloud and then when I loaded ne contaces on her phone it would sych with icloud and all woudl be right with teh world.
      What can I do next?  I can give her her phone with her old contacts and not backup with icloud, but then she could lose her

  • Reading each row of a .csv file in 12.1

    I have  a .csv file with the first row as header information and multiple data rows. I aim to insert the data rows into SQL database. The functionality works fine with MII 11.5, where I loaded the content using a text loader and used a flat file parser to retrieve each row. But 12.1 the flat file parser gives me a single row with all the header and value data separated by commas. How can I read each row of the *.csv to make my database insert possible? Please help!

    @ Sam,
    This should help me. thanks!
    @ Christian Libich,
    Checking the number of columns in the first row is also a part of the requirement. I may have to reject files that have incorrect number of columns. this restricts me from checking the string list output / expected column count. If I expect 10 columns in the first row and the string list gives me a total of 100 columns, I will not be able to decide if it is a csv with 10 columns and 10 rows (good file) or  20 columns with 5 rows (bad file)
    @ Ajay,
    Got to check this.
    Thanks!

  • Csv file to rfc scenario..process multiple rows of csv

    Hi Experts,
    I have been trying a few tings but has nt worked so far.. this is my scenario..
    There is a csv file with say 100 rows, even if one column is erroneous the interface halts and there r no updates in the z table..
    I have used 1:n multi mapping ....any idea how i can proceed to satisfy the above scenario?

    Hi,
       This i feel to take care from the RFC side as the rfc functions looks like handling using transaction mechanisms..
    which will commit only after successfully operations of all or rollback if anything in between fails...
    by the way is the problem of record is with source data type itself or with in the PI ...?
    or one thing you need to look is to execute the RFC for each record..which is not a performance efficient and not a good solution when you can pass all the records in a single call

  • Reading and Sorting from a CSV file

    I have an assignment to read a shopping list from a CSV file, sort the items and print or write the items to a text file. I have an idea though. I intend to use vectors to collect the items from the CSV file and then sort the list and write to a txt file. Someone tell me whether this is a right approach or suggest simpler approach. thank you.
    Derry

    Sounds reasonable.
    Rather than Vector, though, I'd use ArrayList (a very near replacement for Vector) or possibly LinkedList or even Set or Map. (Vector is a legacy class, kept around for backward compatibility.)
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/collections/
    Make sure each element in the List corresponds to one row in the file. Those elements should be a class you define whose member variables correspond to the columns in the file. (So if the file has Last, First, Bday columns, your class would have lastName, firstName, and birthday fields.)
    Make your class Comparable, or implement a Comparator, to make sorting straightforward.

  • Search and Delete a specific record from a CSV file

    Hi All,
    I am new to java . I want to search for the records from CSV file and delete the row form the file.
    Below is my Sample .csv
    100||a100||1b100
    200||b200||dc300
    200||bg430||ef850
    400||f344||ce888
    Now I need some help in below requirements.
    1.How to delete a record having value 200 and b200?
    2.If record already exists how to update the existing record with new values?
    Please share your ideas or give me some code snippet..
    Thanks in Advance

    In that case Do i need to write the entire contents of my file to a hash table(sumthng like this) and modify the Second row in my case with the new values..
    is it possible??I would have done like this (though there maybe better methods)
    1- create a class representing the record.
    class Record{
          String field1;
          String field2;
          String field3;
          // and so on....
          //setters
          public void setFeild1(String str){
              field1=str;
          // and so on....
          //getters
          public String getFeild1(){
              field1=str;
          // and so on....
          public String toString(){
               return(field1+"||"+field2+"||"+field3);
    }//end class2- then create an ArrayList meant to have objects of this class (Generics).
    3- read from the file , create a new Record Object and add that to the ArrayList
    4- perform operations on the ArrayList (you can add new records, and delete record, update......)
    5- write the record back to file using 'toString()' method.
    is there ne sample code available for thisdon't know, but you rarely get full code on forums.....outline given can be followed
    Thanks!
    Edit: It appears that 'r035198x' and me have the same point. This shows that this methodology is almost a standard way( if we ignore the Random access files.....)

  • Reading csv file how to get the Column name

    Hi,
    I am trying to read a csv file and then save the data to Oracle.
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    Connection c = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:;Driver={Microsoft Text Driver (*.txt; *.csv)};Dbq=.;Extensions=csv,txn");
    Statement stmt = c.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("select * from filename.csv");
    while(rs.next())
       System.out.println(rs.getString("Num"));
    My csv file looks like this:
    "CHAM-23","COMPANY NAME","Test","12",20031213,15,16
    Number,Environ,Envel,Date,Time
    "1","2",3,"4",5
    "6","7",8,"9",9
    Now is there anyway using the above code I start processing the file from the second row that holds the names of the columns and skip the first row. And also can I get the name of the column using ResultSet something like:
    if columnName.equals("Number")
    Because I may have a csv file that could have more columns:
    "CHAM-24","COMPANY NAME","Test","12",20031213,16,76
    Number,Environ,Envel,Date,Time,Total,Count
    "1","2","3","4","5",3,9
    "6","7","8","9",9",,2
    So I want to get the column name and then based on that column I do some other processing.
    Once I read the value of each row I want to save the data to an Oracle Table. How do I connect to Oracle from my Application. As the database is on the server. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks

    The only thing I could think of (and this is a cluj) would be to attempt to parse the first element of each row as a number. If it fails, you do not have a column name row. You are counting on the fact that you will never have a column name that is a number in the first position.
    However, I agree that not always placing the headers in the same location is asking for trouble. If you have control over the file, format it how you want. If someone else has control over the file, find out why they are doing it that way. Maybe there is a "magic" number in the first row telling you where to jump.
    Also, I would not use ODBC to simply parse a CSV file. If the file is formatted identically to Microsoft's format (headers in first row, all subsequent rows have same number of columns), then it's fine to take a shortcut and not write your own parser. But if the file is not adhering to that format, don't both using the M$ ODBC driver.

  • SSIS CSV FILE READING ISSUE

    hi can u reply me for the below post
    Actually iam using a FF connection manger to read the csv file .. with the row delimiter to {CR}{LF}.
    Suddenly in looping through the files package got failed because it cant able to read the csv file
    Again i changed  the row delimiter to {LF} then it worked for the file which i faced issue with the {CR}{LF} delimiter.
    Now i want to know why the package is failing for the row delimiter issue..
    can any one help me on this.
    Please share me what actually the difference between those

    Please share me what actually the difference between those
    CR = Carriage Return = CHAR(13) in SQL
    This character is used in Mac OS as new line.
    When this character is used, cursor goes to first position of the line
    LF = Line Feed = CHAR(10) in SQL
    This character is used in Unix as new line.
    When this character is used, cursor goes to next line of the line (Old days typewritter when paper moves up)
    CR LF
    New line in Windows system. Combination of CR and LF.
    Best thing is to open the test flat file in Notepadd++ and enable show symbols - show chars and see what exactly you have as row delimiter

    Hi,
    CSV file means file having comma seperated values.  You dont have to convert anything.  Just open a .CSV file and transfer comma seperated values into it.
    Keep semicolon ( as seperator for each field in same row.  And then transfer this to the file opened.  This will solve the problem.
    In your case
    LOOP AT I_TAB INTO XX.
    CONCATENATE xx-field1 xx-field2........ INTO wa_data SEPERATED BY ';'.
    TRANSFER wa_data TO FILE_NAME.
    ENDLOOP.

  • Inserting Record into CSV file from BizTalk Orchestration

    Scenario:
    1.Receive file from Source system via RecvPipeline
    2.In Orchestration  extracting some values like ENO,Ename,Salary etc.these values to be added in to CSV file from Expression Shape.How to append/add emp records in to CSV with out overriding the rows.
    Ex:If we submitted 10 files then the CSV file should contain 10 rows in CSV.
    Let me know how to create CSV file from Orchestration and how to add rows into that csv value
    Regards BizTalkWorship

    Simple.
    Receive the message through a Receive Port/Location.
    Create a flat-file schema representing the CSV file structure. Ensure each row is delimited by “{CR}{LF}”.
    This flat-file schema should only contain the element which you want to see in the destination CSV file like ENO,Ename,Salary etc.
    Have a map where the source schema should be the one which represents the received file and destination schema should be the one which is above created flat-file schema.
    Map the source schema to the destination schema mapping the filed
    ENO,Ename,Salary etc.
    Have a custom send pipeline with flat-file assembler component it. Use this send pipeline in the send port.
    In send port, configure the send filter like “BTS.ReceivePortName == YourReceivePortName”. Configure the send port’s “Outbound Maps” to the map which you have created in
    above step
    Key Point. In your send port, set the “Copy Mode” property to “Append” from default “Create New”
    With your send port’s, “Copy Mode” property configured to “Append” this will append the value of the output to the existing file. Since in your flat-file schema, each record
    is delimited by “{CR}{LF}” and since you’re overwriting the output file you will have one file with records appended. So if 10 files received, instead of 10 output files, you will have 1 CVS file with 10 rows.
    If you want to construct the message in Orchestration as do, you do as opposed to map in send port at outbound map you can still do.

  • Loading records from .csv file to SAP table via SAP Program

    Hi,
    I have a .csv file with 132,869 records and I am trying to load it to an SAP table with a customized SAP program.
    After executing the program, only 99,999 records are being loaded into the table.
    Is there some setting to define how many records can be loaded into a table? Or what else could be the problem?
    Pls advice.
    Thanks!!!

    hi Arun ,
    A datasource need a extract structure to fetch data .It is nothing but a temp table to hold data.
    First you need to create atable in SE11 with fields coming from CSV file.
    Then you need to write a report program to read you CSV file and populate your table in BW .
    Then you can create a datasource on top of this table .
    After that replicate and load data at PSA and use to upper flow.

    Hi,
    i have csv files to which i want to load the csv file data and table structure in oracle. my csv files on the window machine but database is runing on ibm aix.so how to do it please any one can help me about. thanks a lot in advance
    i know th syntax below
    $sqlldr userid=username/password control=<filename> log=<log filename>

    Hello,
    Yes, with SQL*Loader you can do it.
    But first you have to create a Table into your database with columns and datatype matching
    the content of you "csv" file.
    Then, you'll have to prepare a control file and use the option fields terminated by "," as it's
    a "csv" format.
    Then, you could execute your statement.
    Please, find enclosed a link with some example about SQL*Loader and "csv" file:

    Hope this help.
