Ctrl-Shift Keyboard Shortcuts Broken

Hello
I switch layout with Ctrl+Shift. And have a little trouble. When i try:
Reopen recent tab in Chrome/Firefox (Ctrl+Shift+T)
Select previous tab in Chrome/Firefox (Ctrl+Shift+Tab)
I get just new tab in the first case, and select next tab in the second. This changes the layout. So, performs the action, as if the Shift key not pressed.
Looking for a solution I found that this is common problem. Not only for browsers... ( http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5592 … -linux-kde )
I found similar topic https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1352640 and read this --> https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … on_in_Xorg . But solution don't found.
Someone can help? I don't want change to Alt+Shift switch layout.
P.S. I using Awesome WM

May be it is too late, but this topic is at top of google...any way

in short, you must get sources of xserver by using abs, save there patch file from article, modify PKGBUILD to apply this patch.
Reason is, xserver switches keyboard "onkeypress" while it should do "onkeyrelease". This bug is mentioned in 2006 and not fixed since that because it will lead to change xserver's specs.
P.S. patch in article is for 1.12.xx, but it worked with 1.16.1 for me.

  • Why am I unable to use Ctrl+Shift keyboard shortcuts in the Kotoeri input method on OS X 10.9?

For some reason I'm unable to switch from Hiragana to Katakana and vice versa using the Ctrl+Shift+K and Ctrl+Shift+H keyboard shortcuts when using the Kotoeri IME. The shortcuts appear in the IME menu in the menubar.
Have these shortcuts been changed in OS X Mavericks and the menu not updated, or does the menu not actively reflect the current keyboard shortcut settings? I'm using OS X 10.9.1 (if that helps at all).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the hint! I hadn't realized that Xcode 5.1.1 was so huge (2.18Gb) and assumed after an hour that the installation had frozen.

  • Ctrl Shift Left, Ctrl Shift Right shortcuts broken in GMail compose box

When composing a GMail message in Firefox, selecting a word at a time with ctrl-shift-left arrow or ctrl-shift-right arrow stopped working in the compose textarea. (The key combination does nothing now. Without the ctrl, shift-arrow still selects a letter at a time.)
This was broken a long time ago, then fixed somewhere in the last few months. Now in 3.6.12 it's broken again.
This works fine in Chrome 6,7 and 8, as well as IE.

You're welcome and thanks for posting the outcome of your 'hunt' for the culprit.

  • [LAVA Cross Post] CTRL+SHIFT+Alpha Shortcuts don't work in LabVIEW

    Cross-post from LAVA: http://lavag.org/topic/15619-ctrlshift-shortcuts-sometimes-not-working-in-labview/
Bug Synopsis: CTRL+SHIFT+Alpha shortcuts do not work in LabVIEW. Most notably, CTRL+SHIFT+Z, CTRL+SHIFT+E, and CTRL+SHIFT+S
    Test setup: LV2012 32bit with f1 patch running in Win7 64bit inside a Parallels 8 VM in OS X 10.8.1
To summarize the testing I have tried:
Many different LabVIEW, Guest OS, and Host OS combinations all fail, including:
    LV2012f1 32 and 64 bit, and LV2009 32 bit
    Win7 32 and 64bit, and also WinXP x64
    Parallels 7 and Parallels 8
    OS X 10.7 and 10.8
Capturing the keyboard by the VM
Twiddling every keyboard setting possible on Parallels, Guest, and Host
    Reinstalling keyboard drivers
Plugging in a known-good keyboard that works on a native Windows machine
Deleting LabVIEW.ini and letting it regenerate
Remapping the shortcuts from, e.g., CTRL+SHIFT+E to CTRL+E - in this case, "Show in Project" works, so this might indicate it's a problem registering the shortcut press, not invoking the action itself.
Sending the keystrokes via on-screen keyboards from both Guest and Host
Sending the keystrokes via SendInput from user32.dll WinAPI
Testing every imaginable combo of FN, CONTROL, ALT/OPTION, COMMAND/CMD, SHIFT
Reinstalling VMs from scratch and reinstalling LV
Here's a kicker: CTRL+SHIFT+Alpha shortcuts work fine on other Windows programs (I've tried 4 different programs, including Chrome, Notepad++, Paint.NET), yet it does NOT work for VIPM with CTRL+SHIFT+C. This means that the only two programs where the CTRL+SHIFT+Alpha bugs exist are both LabVIEW-related.
Here's another kicker: It's only CTRL+SHIFT+Alpha shortcuts with the prob - CTRL+SHIFT+3 properly toggles grid alignment, and the "Tools >> Options >> Menu shortcuts" will register any CTRL+SHIFT+Non-alpha shortcut; it just does not respond to the CTRL+SHIFT+Alpha shortcuts.
Any new troubleshooting ideas are highly appreciated; please feel free to jump in here or on LAVA.

Still well and alive in Parallels 9 and LabVIEW 2013 SP1. Of course I could upgrade to the latest versions to check whether things have gotten any better.
    Any news on that?
@mellroth figured out the solution :-)

  • Cmd-Shift-L shortcut broken in 4.0.4

Hi - I just upgraded to Safari 4.0.4 and found that the cmd-shift-L shortcut (which opens a google search for highlighted text in an active new tab) is no longer functioning. Has anybody figured a way of restoring this? I have come to depend on it since acidsearch's unfortunate demise.

Has anybody figured a way of restoring this?
Not broken here, still working fine as always. Have you tried repairing permissions or creating a new user account and seeing if the problem persists there? It's an issue with your install, as a guess. Working fine on all the Mac's around here with Safari 4.04

  • Adobe Reader 9 keyboard shortcuts broken?

The zoom in and zoom out keyboard shortcuts (CTRL "+" and CTRL "-")that have been working since forever have now stopped working! It seems somewhat inexplicably as CTRL + NUMPAD 0 and CTRL + NUMPAD 1 now have those functions.
What is going on? What did the software designers think? Where can you customize your keyboard shortcuts to get the old, logical ones, back?
    Grateful for any thoughts.

I'm quite angry, too. I used to use CTRL+1 to zoom to 100% very, very often. Now CTRL+1 zooms out and even worse, there's no new shortcut for zooming to 100%. I'm forced to switch to mouse now which costs really much time. Who came up with this stupid idea?

  • Clipboard Keyboard Shortcuts Broken

I'm a mac whiz, but was apparently stumped on this one. My mom's keyboard shortcuts (Apple-V, Apple-C, Apple-X) aren't working.
She can still use the pull-down menu, though. The V, X, and C keys all work on their own and Apple-S works so it's not a broken key. A restart did nothing.
So... how to proceed? Is there some way I can reset the clipboard or shortcut keys? I am not afraid of the command line if necessary...

    re: "My mom's keyboard shortcuts (Apple-V, Apple-C, Apple-X) aren't working."
What OS is your mother using? Exactly what keyboard shortcuts is she trying to accomplish? These may be different for her operating system than with your Panther OS.

  • Command P keyboard shortcut broken

When I type "Command-P" it is now bringing up the Parental Controls preferences instead of the Print dialogue.
If I restart in "Safe" mode or in a test user account Command-P works to bring up the print dialogue, but when I reboot in my normal user mode it still brings up Parenal Controls.
    This happens inall applications.
Print still works from the File menu and it still indicates that Command-P should be the keyboard shortcut.

Can you say anymore about how I would use Activity Monitor to troubleshoot this?
    This doc
    Using Activity Monitor
    <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1342>
discusses using AM for monitoring memory usage, but it gives the basic idea. You are interested in two items -- the "My Processes" pop-up menu and the list of processes.
Sort them by name, as shown in the pic, then go through them one by one. You're trying to identify the process responsible for the issue. You may copy the list and paste it into a text editor. Then eliminate those whose functions you can figure out. From the pop-up menu, choose System Processes. That will give you another list; as a first approach, you can eliminate all System Processes from your list. Once you've got the list down to those you don't know and aren't system processes, if you can't find anything obvious (eg, "HotKey Server"), then it's Google time.

  • Notification Center keyboard shortcut broken

The keyboard shortcut "Show Notification Center" you can set under System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Mission Control stopped working for me after a restart.
I tried resetting to defaults, changing the short cut and finally exiting all running apps and processes - nothing seems to bring back the short cut.
Does anybody know how to debug this or a plist where I can manually edit this?

Resetting PRAM did not fix the problem for me, either.
I worked around it locally by using the MacOS Automator to create a new Workflow. The workflow had a single "Run Applescript" action in it where the applescript is as follows:
    on run {input, parameters}
        tell application "System Events"
            tell process "Notification Center"
click menu bar item 1 of menu bar 1
            end tell
        end tell
    end run
Then I saved the workflow and used BetterTouchTool (http://www.boastr.de/) to bind a "Start Automator Workflow" trigger to a a keyboard shortcut.

  • Are keyboard shortcuts broken on CFB3 on OSX for anyone else?

Hitting command+t displays the shortcut list but hitting a key does not fire off the shortcut.  Clicking the shortcut works but not via the keyboard.

I just figured out if I let the shortcut display window show up then I can't use the keyboard to select the value I want.  If I hit cmd+t -> d in quick succession then the shortcut works.

  • Spotlight keyboard shortcut broken after installing 10.10.1

Command-Space is no longer bringing up Spotlight. I've tried restoring default keyboard settings, disabling/enabling Spotlight, rebooting my machine, no luck.
    Anyone know a fix?

For the first time, I needed to do start in Safe Mode on this exact iMac and came across your unanswered question when trying to figure it out.
You cannot restart into Safe Mode, you need to shut down. Hold shift right after you hear the chime. There's also a command line option here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262
It took an uncomfortably long time and I cursed myself for not running a current backup, but let's hope it solves my impossible to solve wake from sleep problem.

  • Close Window Ctrl+Shift+W shortcut is causing me problems (due to fumbling fingers) Any way to disable it please

Often lose large forum posts (when I am composing them) when I mis-hit and get the control key first when wanting to type a capital w.
Would be nice if this particular shortcut could be disabled

Thanks a lot. I figured there would be a way but couldn't find anything relevant in my searches other than a reference to a feature that wasn't on my system, plus a Mozilla statement that shortcuts were NOT user configurable.
It will likely save my laptop from a grisly end when it happens once too often.

  • Handling complex shortcut key like "ctrl+shift+x"

    Hi,
In oracle forms, i want to trigger a button click on pressing "ctrl+shift+x" shortcut key. I could not able to do this with AccessKey. Is there any other way to do this ?
    Thanx in Advance
    Regards,
    Saravanan A

You could map the ctrl-shift-x key to fire the key-f0 trigger.
The make the key-f0 trigger do the same functionality as clicking the button
This is not quite what you are asking for I know, but provides a similar result.

  • Keyboard shortcuts reference

There are ERRORS on this page. Please fix!
    One is the following:
On the "Showing properties and groups in the Timeline panel (keyboard shortcuts)" section, you say that to "Add or remove keyframe at current time" you use "Altproperty shortcut". This is wrong. It is actually AltShiftproperty shortcut. Also, you do not mention the CtlShift+property shortcut that allows you to add and/or change a keyframe value at current time.

Make sure you have a layer selected.
Then hit Ctrl + Shift + "property shortcut".
In this example I had the "Debbie Ross" row selected and hit Ctrl + Shift + P  to insert a position keyframe with specified values.
...Although, now after playing more, I'm noticing that the only things this works with is POSITION and ROTATION.

  • Another "edit in photoshop" and keyboard shortcut question

I have both PSCS6 32 bit and 64 bit installed on my computer (usual default installation). When I next installed LR4, it automatically picked PSCS6 64 bit as the default external editor without asking my preference.
I always use PSCS6 32 bit and not the 64 bit version.
While I can add the PSCS6 32 bit program as an "additional external editor" and access it from a right click contextual menu for editing an image from LR4, I cannot use the convenient Ctrl + E keyboard shortcut since that will always launch the unwanted PSCS6 64 bit program.
Is there a way to reestablish this keyboard shortcut convenience for my 32 bit program?
    Thanks in advance!
    OS: Windows 7 professional

    Scott,
There is a registry hack you could try:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/edit-photoshop-command-missing-photoshop.html
That's for making PS show up when it doesn't show up at all, but there's a place to add the path to the executable that you could modify to point to the 32-bit version. You might want to do a checkpoint for System Restore before you start.
