CTS Tranport

HI all
in dovelopment i created text data source in BW side(datamart). while trying to transport its saying  Extract structure ZOXDN20052 is not active.and  The extract structure ZOXDN20053 of the DataSource ZMEINS_DS_TEXT is invalid. it is active in development and not active in quality. Pls suggest me for next move. points will award for solution.
Thanks.

Sriram krishna,
This problem with collecting custom data sources, When you collect your data source for transport extract structure is not collected automatically, you need to collect the extract structure manually in same request.
For you problem,
Collect extract structure in new request import this request first and then re import the failed request.

  • Communication channel parameters are not tranported in CTS+ transport

    Hi,
My scenario is MDM to jms.
we have configured the cts+ transport in our system.
We transported the ESR and ID objects from development to Quality.
But in the sender mdm communication channel the everything is getting transported except Repository password.
when i checked in the quality system the Repository password was blank.
And receiver jms communication channel details are in
    dev system
    IP Address or server Name:135.12.14.12
    server port                          :3321
    Queue manange name       :RRTYRKB
    channel name                  :KDIEKE.MDM
    Quality System
    IP Address or server Name:localhost
    server port                        :1414
    Queue manange name       :QM_hostname
    channel name                    :S_hostname
i want know  whether this is  the case when we do the cts+ transport?
if it is the case should i edit the objects in the Quality sysem(which i don't want to do).
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Muniyappan.

    Hi,
    >>>if it is the case should i edit the objects in the Quality sysem(which i don't want to do).
communication channel attrubites always get reset in the new env - TEST, PRD, etc.
and you always need to fill them once more - this is the normal way
otherwise - would you like to use DEV parameters on PRD system ?
maintaining the channel attributes is a typical task on all landscapes

  • How to configure CTS+ for Solution Manager for XI 3.0

    Hi ,
We are working on XI 3.0 SP 20 and Doing a file system based transport of .TPZ files. We observed that there is a possibilit of misssing the objects while tranporting. So we are planning to set CTS+ with our Solution Manager.
    Question:
    1. Can we configure CTS+ through the latest version of Solution Manager for XI 3.0 landscape?
If Yes .. How?   If No... Why?
    2. Is there any way to make the the transport automated like ABAP tranports.
If there is.... Please send the link or documents..
    Thanks
    Manoj

    Hi Venkat,
Thank you for the Demo. The Demo gives me information about the CTS+ setup. I am looking for the compatability of CTS+ for XI 3.0.

  • [Transport / CTS] Production servers on a different site than dev servers

    Hello,
My current customer has his development servers on a physical site A and his production servers on a physical site B (distance between the sites is 300kms).
How can we do to tranport the developments and customizing from site A to site B.
The customer doesn't want to mount sap/trans from site A to production servers as the exchange are not secured...
We will use CTS+ in a complex environment (ECC, BI, EP, SRM, PI, Solman)
Thanks in advance for your help

  • CTs vs CMS

    Hello folks
Which is a better way to transport XI objects from QA to Prod?
CTS or CMS considering all the aspects Hardware etc?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Change management system (CMS)
Change Management Service (CMS) is part of SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI). This service enables you to configure your transport landscape and manage the transport of objects between different systems.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f85ff411-0d01-0010-0096-ba14e5db6306
    Automated procedure for tranporting....
    1. Configure the CMs according to the envinorment and then no reason to login to server to copy the files.
    2. Easier
    3. Takes less time comapred to fielsystem
    4. Feasible for lansacpae having more interfacess
    5. COnfiguration has to be done setting various servers according to the server time spent in cofg may be more
CMS --> Its runs on J2EE engine.
    Change Transport system (CTS)
The CTS is the central tool for managing changes to Customizing and Repository data that you make in the IMG or ABAP Workbench. The CTS records all changes in change requests.

    Difference between CMS & CTS:
Change Management Service (CMS) is part of SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI). This service
enables you to configure your transport landscape and manage the transport of objects between different
    systems.
It runs on JAVA Engine.CMS is generally used to transport Javadevelopment objects. The XI Integration
Server uses CMS to transport Integration Servercontent.
    Change Transport system (CTS)
The CTS is the central tool for managing changes to Customizing and Repository data that you make in the
ABAP Workbench. The CTS records all changes in change requests.
CTS is the Product Completion Level.Shows the production process phase that has been reached by the
    product.
SAP recommends the CMS, because that is the part of SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure, so obviously it is better and gives high performance according to my knowledge.

  • XI Transports general question (SLD / CTS+)

Hi all, I ve the both following question : (it is not clear for me)
    1) Does CTS+ transport management use SLD transport and target data linked with business system to adapt XI configuration (ID) regarding Business sender and receiver systems ?????
    2) One of my customer want to install only 2 XI system.
    - 1 linked with Dev & Quality R/3 environment
    - 1 linked with production R/3 system
Is it possible regarding SLD content ?
How must the transports be managed in this case using CTS ?

  • CMS and CTS+

    Hi all,
I want to know the difference between CTS+ and CMS. Is there any additional advantage provided by CTS+ over CMS? Also what is the difference in the procedure to transport IR and ID objects in CMS and CTS+.
Any links to documents related to transporting IR , ID objects via CMS and CTS+ will be very helpful.
    Regards,
    Santosh

    Hi,
What is CTS+ and why is is introduced:
The Change and Transport System (CTS) is a tool that helps you to organize development projects in the ABAP Workbench and in Customizing, and then transport the changes between the SAP Systems in your system landscape.
The XI use case for CTS+ introduces a new transport handling mechanism that offers tighter integration for the transport of ABAP, Java, and Integration Builder objects (Integration Repository and Integration Directory) using the Change and Transport System (BC-CTS) functionality.
As your XI system requires both the ABAP and the Java stack of the SAP NetWeaver Application Server, the following transport tools are available after installation:
    u2022
    The ABAP transport environment (BC-CTS)
    u2022
The file export and import mechanisms or CMS integration to transport Repository or Directory objects in your transport landscape
In addition, you might also have to transport Java development objects by using the SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure itself.
The enhancements to CTS in combination with the SAP Solution Manager Change Request Management (ChaRM) address the following issues:
    u2022
Synchronized transports for mixed systems (ABAP & Java)
    u2022
A unified application for mixed system landscapes
    u2022
Tracking of non-ABAP transports including Change Request Management
For your XI landscapes there will be one central transport environment with CTS+ where you can manage all XI-relevant transport objects from a single entry point.
This how-to guide describes the configuration settings you must make in the CTS+ system and XI systems. The functionality must be set up according to the release version of the integrated XI system. The two configurations will be described separately:
    u2022
Configuration setup for releases prior to SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS12 (also for SAP NetWeaver 2004 SPS14 and higher).
    u2022
Configuration setup for release SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS12 and higher.
Refer the link for CTS+ step by step method of transport:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/80bbbd55-5004-2a10-f181-8bb096923cb6

CMS is generally used to transport Java development objects. The XI Integration Server uses CMS to transport Integration Server content. When the Integration Server uses CMS to transport XI Content, no Component Build Service (CBS) or Design Time Repository (DTR) is used and can therefore be switched off. If you want to transport Integration Server content and Java developments (Java proxies or adapter modules), the CBS and DTR must be running.
If you transport Java developments, you should keep in mind that deployment of Java code can destabilize the runtime environment. Therefore, it is beneficial to install CMS on a separate server, as described in SAP Note 737368 for NWDI.
In this How-to Guide, CMS is installed together with an Integration Server system in the development environment. The advantage of this approach is that you have fewer steps in user management and CMS cannot influence the runtime of a productive environment.
With the enhancements of the SAP NetWeaver Change and Transport System (CTS for short, or CTS+ respectively, if specifically the enhanced capabilities are meant), available with SPS12 of SAP NetWeaver 7.0, the CTS has been enhanced to handle any type of object that can be transported in an SAP system landscape. Therefore, an administrator of your ABAP system can now also manage the transports for the non-ABAP parts of your system landscape.
You can now use CTS to transport (almost) arbitrary objects in an SAP system landscape with transport orders of the Transport Organizer:
    u2022
    Enterprise Portal archives (EPAs)
    u2022
    Exchange Infrastructure objects (TPZs)
    u2022
    Software component archives (SCAs)
    u2022
    Software delivery archives (SDAs)
    u2022
    Enterprise Application Archives (EARs)
    u2022
    ABAP objects
Development objects will be deployed according to their application type. Objects in a single transport order can be a mixture of all types u2013 however that only makes sense, if both are intended for the same system because transport paths are defined in the transport domain controller system.
CTS+ and usage type PI (SAP NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure, XI)
    o
If you are not using the Change Management Service CMS of the NWDI, you should seriously consider using CTS+ for your XI transports (CTS+ & SAP NetWeaver usage type PI).
    o
If you are already using the CMS, you should postpone any planned migration to use CTS+ up to availability of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS 13 , where integration will be enhanced futher.
    o
In any case you should evaluate the enhanced CTS options of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 comming with SPS 12 and extensions planned with SPS 13/14 for XI transports u2013 in the mid and long term CTS+ is the best practice recommended by SAP for XI tranports.

  • CTS+ Transports in SAP PI 7.1

    Hi experts,
we have a new installed SAP PI 7.1. Our scenario is that we have a single SLD for each PI System on dev, test and prod.
Now we are facings some troubles regarding the SLD setup. Our target is to use CTS+ to transport IR and ID objects. In the how to guides I found in SDN I found always settings within the visual admin to get this scenario run. But as I understood there is no more visual admin in SAP PI 7.1.
What are the required steps to connect my sld from dev --> test --> prod and what is additional to perform to get my ID objects transported from dev --> test --> prod.
    Regards,
    Björn

    Hi Bjorn,
CTS+ is a transport mechanism used to transport NWDS, IR, ID objects.....basically JAVA objects......
    For CTS+ and NWDI...check it :

Here is the short dump in the ABAP system.
    Short text of error message:
INTERNAL ERROR UPDATING REQUEST DESC OF RP1K900690
    Long text of error message:
    Technical information about the message:
    Message class....... "PU"

Variable 1.......... "INTERNAL ERROR UPDATING REQUEST DESC OF"
    Variable 2.......... "RP1K900690"

I have checked the RFC destination in the J2EE Admin and that works OK.  This has me kind of stumped.

  • One CTS+ for multiple landscapes?

We have about 15 landscapes (ECC, R3, CRM, BI, PI, etc.)
Each landscape has its own single SLD.
We want to configure ONLY one CTS+ on an SM7.0 to handle all of the change
request management for the 15 landscapes.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
You can have a single CTS on multiple landscapes.

    Hi venkat,
what i understand is you are already having some TR on which work is gng on and now you want to add.
    no problem
in your CTS+ when you create a TR just merge the old TR into this
    or
you can also you the Copy objects
    in SE09
this is very common technique use by developers so just ask them to check in se09.
