CurrentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream() doesn't work!

After reading all this instructions about how to run an application that uses Eclipselink API in JWS offline mode:
http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5403895;
http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5404318;
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=287718;
http://dev.eclipse.org/newslists/news.eclipse.rt.eclipselink/msg00933.html.
I am still having problems!
Basically, the solution that solves all peoples problems was to look up the resource, in this case "META-INF/persistence.xml", using the command "Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(entryPath)".
After modifying all the required classes, the application throws a "[EclipseLink-8034] JPQLException - Unknow entity type [Entity]", wich I suppose that is because the application wasn't able to find the "persistence.xml" file and them couldn't "resolve" the type that I am trying to find in the database.
I am using the following Java/API versions:
- JRE 1.6.0_02-b06
- EclipseLink 2.1.0.v20100614-r7608
Thanks.

  • Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream() bug?

    Hello
    I have a problem with Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream() sporadically returning null when my app is running via JNLP using Win XP/build 1.6.0_20-b02 and tomcat 6-20/JnlpDownLoadServlet.
    The code is:
    final InputStream resourceStream = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(name);I have added a map that counts the number of non null streams returned by getResourceAsStream. Here is the output when running with tracing level 5:
    cache: Reading Signers from 1024 http://x.x.x.x:8080/MDA/webstart/VTSDBClient-SOK.jar | C:\Users\xxx\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\61\6b90d63d-4feb6af0-1.7-SNAPSHOT-.idx

    Weird! data/eez-de.shp has been loaded 77 time(s) previously but is now null
    Loader is com.sun.jnlp.JNLPClassLoaderSo getResourceAsStream managed to open the file 77 times before it suddenly returns null.
    From the trace it looks like it happens when the cache is doing " Reading Signers from 1024 ..." the second time for VTSDBClient-SOK.jar. Could it be related to bug 6911763 (http://bugs.sun.com/view_bug.do?bug_id=6911763)?
    What causes the cache to reread the Signers in general and is there a way to provoke it?
    Thanks
    Carsten

    Just a tad more info on this.
    Each time Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream() returns null there is a:
    network: SyncFileAccess.openLock: handled OverlappingFileLockException, remainint TO : 10000in the log.
    My does does spawn multiple threads that accesses different resources located in the same jar file in the client. Could it be a problem with using Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream() from multiple threads and a slow respose from the JNLPDownLoadServlet and some locking scheme used by the JNLP cache?

  • Check in dialog with Adobe Drive 4.2 doesn't work

    Hi,
    we are currently implementing a custom check-in dialog using Adobe Drive 4.2.
    The dialog looks like the example given in discussion "Custom check in dialog".
    To build the SWF, I use Flash Builder 4.5 with Adobe Flex SDK 4.0.0 (flex_sdk_4.0.0.14159A).
    I have created a new Flex Project with Application type "Web" and added a MXML Modul with name "CustomUI" and option "Do not optimize (module can be loaded by multiple applications)".
    After compiling the project I extract the "CustomUI.swf" and copy the file in the "resources" folder of my Custom Adobe Drive adapter.
    I implement the "IGetCustomCheckInUIHandler", "ICanEnableCustomCheckInUIHandler" and "IGetCustomCheckInUIContextInfoHandler":
    "IGetCustomCheckInUIHandler" sets the module url like
    response.setModuleURL(Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResource("resource s/CustomUI.swf"));
    "ICanEnableCustomCheckInUIHandler" enables the custom ui dialog with
    response.setCanEnable(true);
    "IGetCustomCheckInUIContextInfoHandler" adds some context data like
    Map<String, Object> contextInfo = new HashMap<String, Object>();
    contextInfo.put("key1", "test1");
    response.setContextInfo(contextInfo);
    (Also hidding the "IGetCustomCheckInUIContextInfoHandler" in "IRemoteHandlerFactory" doesn't work.)
    Right click on an checked out asset in Windows Explorer and click on "Adobe Drive 4/Check in..." does following:
    1. "IGetCustomCheckInUIHandler" called
    2. "ICanEnableCustomCheckInUIHandler" called
    3. "IGetCustomCheckInUIHandler" once more called
    4. "IGetCustomCheckInUIContextInfoHandler" called
    5. The default check in dialog is shown (with no custom ui extension), the default dialog hangs (OK/Cancel doesn't react on click, the dialog is freezed). Only the close button (X in the right upper corner) works.
    How is it possible to provide a custom ui check in dialog?
    Thanks

    Hi again.
    I found where the problem was (at least in my case).
    To go to the point: go in the "properties" of your flex project. In the menu, go in "Flex Build Path" and then in "Library Path". Then, the option "Framework linkage" is with the default value in a new flex project.
    So here is the trick : with Flex 3 (so Adobe Drive 3), the default value is "merged into code".  Bug in the Flex 4 (so Adobe Drive 5), the default value is "Runtime Shared Library".
    And because the module is ran independently (with no link with the flex code that load your module), the flash player crashes because it doesn't find your libraries (like ICustomCheckinUI).
    I discovered this problem running the Custom UI from the windows explorer (not with Bridge) and using the Flash Player Debug version, and watching the error log files of the Flash Player.
    So in the end, when I checked "merged into code" in the Framework Linkage option, all my dependencies of my flex module were merged into my final module swf, and no more flash crash.
    Sorry for my bad english and hope it helped.

  • Class unloading doesn't work as described in this forum !!!

    Hi,
    to the problem of dynamic class unloading many people in this forum wrote:
    - write your own class loader
    - load the class to be unloaded later
    - set all instances of your own class loader to null
    - if the work is done set all instances of the loaded classes to null
    - call the garbage collector and the classes will be removed
    I constructed a simple test for the problem:
    - the test class
    public class Impl {
    public String getVersion () {
    return "1";
    - instanciating the test class
    - printing the value of getVersion() to the screen
    - changing the return value of getVersion() and recompiling it (the test application is still runnig)
    - unload try (see below)
    - instanciating the test class
    - printing the value of getVersion() to the screen
    Back to the tipps above. Why doing this? The theory says a class loader stores every loaded class for
    suppressing unnecessary reloads. In reality the classes are NOT stored in the own class loader but in
    the parent of it. If no parameter is given to a class loader's constructor the parent of a class loader
    is the system classloader.
    Let's have a look at the source code of java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(...):
    protected synchronized Class loadClass(String name, boolean resolve)
    throws ClassNotFoundException
    // First, check if the class has already been loaded
    Class c = findLoadedClass(name);
    if (c == null) {
    try {
    if (parent != null) {
    ### here the loadClass() of the parent is called and the
    ### loaded class is stored within the parent
    c = parent.loadClass(name, false);
    } else {
    c = findBootstrapClass(name);
    } catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
    // If still not found, then call findClass in order
    // to find the class.
    c = findClass(name);
    if (resolve) {
    resolveClass(c);
    return c;
    My Idea was: Give a null to the class loader's constructor so the classes cannot be stored within a parent.
    Here my test class loader (it is build as it is described within javadoc of java.lang.ClassLoader
    except the constructor):
    import java.io.*;
    public class MyClassLoader extends ClassLoader {
    public MyClassLoader () {
    super ( null );
    public Class findClass ( String name ) {
    byte[] b = loadClassData ( name );
    return defineClass ( name, b, 0, b.length );
    private byte[] loadClassData ( String name ) {
    byte[] ret = null;
    try {
    InputStream in = new FileInputStream ( name + ".class" );
    ret = new byte[in.available ()];
    in.read ( ret );
    } catch ( Exception e ) {
    e.printStackTrace ();
    return ret;
    The loading of the class works fine
    ClassLoader cl = new MyClassLoader ();
    Class c = cl.loadClass ( "Impl" );
    Object i = c.newInstance ();
    Impl impl = (Impl)i;
    The class "Impl" was found and instanciated. But the cast "Impl impl = (Impl)i;" causes a
    "java.lang.ClassCastException: Impl"
    May second idea was deleting all instances of the class to unload from the class loader via reflection.
    A strange way I know but if this is the only way I will do it. But this doesn't work too.
    After deleting the class from the class loader and all its parents the class is still anywhere in the depth
    of the VM.
    Can anybody help me with this problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Axel.

    <pre>
    I made a similar and simpler program and it worked:
    import java.net.URLClassLoader;
    import java.net.URL;
    public class DynamicExtension {
         public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception {
              URL[] ua = new URL[] {  new URL("file://c:\\TEMP\\") };
              URLClassLoader ucl = new URLClassLoader(ua);
              MyLoadable l =
                   (MyLoadable) ucl.loadClass("LoadableObject").newInstance();
              l.printVersion();
              Thread.currentThread().sleep(10000);
    //you have ten seconds to replace the old version of the LoadableObject.class file
    //so yo?d better had compiled the new one before executing this
              ucl = new URLClassLoader(ua);
              l = (MyLoadable) ucl.loadClass("LoadableObject").newInstance();
              l.printVersion();
              ucl = null;
              l = null;
              System.gc();
    public class LoadableObject implements MyLoadable {
         public void printVersion() {
              System.out.println("version 1");
         protected void finalize() {
              System.out.println("finalizing " + this);
    public interface MyLoadable {     void printVersion();  }
    C:\Java\TIJ2\Test>java DynamicExtension
    version 1
    version 2
    finalizing LoadableObject@1bd03e
    finalizing LoadableObject@4abc9
    The ClassCastException was due to the fact that one class was loaded by the system class loader, the one that appers as Impl impl = (Impl), and the other by MyClassLoader. That mean that they are different for the VM because they are in different namespaces: The namespace for MyClassLoader is the set of classes loaded by itself and those returned to it by his parent class loader as a result of a request to MyClassLoader?s parent class loader to load a class.
    Setting null for the parent of MyClassLoader was in fact the cause of the problem, because that caused a call to a native method called findBoostrapClass. I guess this method looks for the classes in the bootstrap classpath where MyClassLoader shouldn?t be. This causes MyClassLoader loaded the class itself. If MyClassLoader had had the system class loader as its parent the result had been that only one classloader would have loaded the class. This is what happens in the example above so no ClassCastException is thrown.
    In the source code for ClassLoader
    there is the following:
    * The classes loaded by this class loader. The only purpose of this
    * table is to keep the classes from being GC'ed until the loader
    * is GC'ed.
    private Vector classes = new Vector(); /*
    and:
    * Called by the VM to record every loaded class with this loader.
    void addClass(Class c) {
    classes.addElement(c);
    I would like to have seen findLoadedClass checking the already loaded classes in this Vector, but this method is native. Anyway, as the code for loadClass shows, the parent or bootstrap classloader is checked if findLoadedClass doesn?t find the class; Can we guess that findLoadedClass only checks the clases loaded by the classloader, not its parent?
    By the way, could an example like this be made in c++?
    </pre>

    One problem might be your lack of a setVisible( true ). It would be easier to read if you put code tags around your code.

  • Platform.runLater messes up my Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader()

    Hi,
    I have a plugin mechanism in my application. The plugins are defines by an interface and are loaded via URLClassLoader. A plugin can also have resources, loaded via ResourceBundle.getBundle.
    Whenever a plugin's method is called, I do this, before it is called:
    ClassLoader oldLoader = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader();
    Thread.currentThread().setContextClassLoader(pluginClassLoaders.get(pluginClass.cast(proxy)));
    // Invoke plugin method
    Thread.currentThread().setContextClassLoader(oldLoader);
    The plugin methods are called in their own thread, that means, when I want to open a window I need to do it on the JavaFX Application Thread with Platform.runLater.
    The problem is, that in the run method of the Platform.runLater, my Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader() is not my URLClassLoader but the Application Classloader.
    Why I need this?
    I don't want the plugin developer to always keep in mind, that he has to pass the correct class loader (of his classes) into the ResourceBundle.getBundle method.
    Instead I thought I could rely on Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader(), which is set in the main application, to load the correct bundle.
    It would work, but not if I load the bundle inside the JavaFX Application Thread (but which makes the most sense for UI development).
    So my goal was to have a convenient method like:
    String getResource(String bundle, String key)
    return ResourceBundle.getBundle(bundle).getString(key),  Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader());
    To avoid passing the classloader every time.
    Any ideas on this?

    OK, found the problem.

    Hi, I am using the Mini-DVI to S-Video adapter from apple to connect my macbook to the TV. But the only thing I get is a grey flickering picture on my TV. When I click on the monitor-button I can see that my macbook detects only a monitor (but not a TV) in addition to the macbook-LCD-display. I tried all different resolutions, but needless to say it doesn't work.
    Can the adapter be broken, or is there a problem with the macbook?

    my macbook detects only a monitor (but not a TV) in addition to the macbook-LCD-display
    If you connect the Mini-DVI to S-Video adapter, the monitor button on the menubar should show resolutions for Color LCD in one section and NTSC/PAL in the other.
    A grey flickering picture is indicative of picking the wrong standard-PAL vs. NTSC.

    If that does not work then maybe there is something wrong with your MBP. Is that the reason you want to run this test, something isn't right with your unit?

  • I have recently found a pop up box telling me that 'Safari quit unexpectedly', and askes me to either report, re-open or ignore. However when I quit on re-open it doesn't work. I just get the same pop up box appearing. Has anyone any ideas please?

    Sorry - I meant to say: 'However when I click on re-open it doesn't work'.
    This problem has only occurred within the last week or so, since I have started to run my Mac on Safari OX 10 Yosemite. I wonder if anyone else has had similar problems and can suggest how I rectify it?
    I am now using Firefox to get on line but would like to know what has gone wrong with Safari.
    Many thanks,
    Clare.

    I cannot use mine at all! I am having to use Firefox as well, i continue to get this and have no idea what to do???

    What does the problem with modules mean? Archlinux was warning me, that "in future releases /etc/modprobe.d/framebuffer_blacklist.conf.save will be ignored, but it is the same file as /etc/modprobe.d/framebuffer_blacklist.conf.
    I don't understand, why it cannot find any screens (I use a laptop screen)
    I tried to start with and without xorg.conf, which is:
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "Intel X4500MHD"
    Driver "intel"
    VendorName "Intel Corporation"
    BoardName "Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller"
    BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
    Option "DRI" "true"
    Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
    Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy"
    EndSection
    The graphic driver I use is xf86-video-intel-newest from archstuff, but it is the same version as xf86-video-intel.
    I am not sure if I provided all needed info, but I hope so. Thank you for your help.SOLVED

    Use the arch version.   It is actually built against the xorg version that you are using...  here is the relevant section of your log:
    [ 934.354] (EE) module ABI major version (6) doesn't match the server's version (7)

  • Self-assigned or Manually Assigned IP Doesn't Work.

    I've got a network of four Macs in my house, using a wireless router from Verizon. This network has been working fine for at least a year. For the last week, though, my MBP can't access the internet or see other computers. My router recognizes the MBP and the MBP shows full bars for the wireless signal, but other than that, nada. This is true whether it's a self-assigned IP or I manually create the IP (using the IP address that the router recognizes as the MBP).
    The MBP hasn't left the house. The entire network set up has not changed.
    I have tried:
    - Manually setting the IP - worked briefly last night, but now doesn't work again.
    - Resetting nvram - didn't work at all
    - Power cycling computers and router in all possible permutations
    - I may have tried other things that I'm not thinking of now
    Any fixes or info on why this kind of thing happens would be greatly appreciated.

    You might try resetting your connection settings using the steps listed in this message:

    They're not guaranteed to solve the problem, but they'll only take you a minute or so to try.

  • Bridge CC is asking my to 'purge cache'. When I do this doesn't work and freezes my mac. Bridge is unable to work at all. Please help?

    When I start up Bridge CC I get a error message instructing me to purge cache in preferences which I do but it doesn't work and freezes my mac. I cannot curretnly use Bridge CC. PLease help as this is costing me time and money - thank you in advance....

    Hold down the Option key as you launch Bridge, keep it down until you see a dialog box, then click all three options in the re-set box that comes up.
    If you don't see that re-set box, you're doing it wrong, i.e., you're not holding the Option key down fast enough.

  • Mobile data doesn't work and I can't access the front camera.

    Hi, I received my new Xperia Z3 Compact in white just over a week ago and unfortunately I have few unresolved issued with it which kind of spoils the experience of owning a new phone.
    I  just switched from a number of Iphones and Xperia was the handset that really impressed me.
    I couldn't see the point of getting an overpriced Iphone with a limited storage capability.
    Unfortunately my Xperia Z3c has some issues;
    - I can't get the front camera work
    - I can get my internet only through Wi-Fi and my unlimited 3G data doesn't work at all (T-Mobile U.K)
    - Three Swipe Gesture doesn’t appear to be working as it should on any Android device (I'm told).
    So I am not a very happy user at the moment and slowly starting to miss the Iphone.

    Hi casson50ml,
    Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
    Sorry to hear about these issues, I would first suggest clearing the data for the camera.
    Menu > settings > Apps > All > Camera > Clear Data
    Once done try using the device.
    In regards to the Internet, try performing an Internet settings download.
    Menu > Settings > More > Internet Settings > Accept Disclaimer > Choose Network.
    Now try using the network data on the handset.
    Can you explain more about the 3 Finger Gesture issue?
