Custom method in HttpURLConnection class

Hello
I'm trying to call a URL that expects a custom method request. Specifically a SEARCH method.
When I execute the setRequestMethod("SEARCH") method, it throws an "java.net.ProtocolException: Invalid HTTP method: SEARCH" exception.
What I would like to know is if it is possible to create a request custom method different from the standard ones.
Could somebody help me, please?
thanks.

Pls go through the jav adoc of URLConnection class.
You can set the request method as
Set the method for the URL request, one of:
* GET
* POST
* HEAD
* OPTIONS
* PUT
* DELETE
* TRACE
Not you own choice

  • Cannot use user classes in webservices interface of appmodule custom method

    Hi,
    I need to expose an application module's custom method that uses user defined classes as parameters and return types as a web service interface. I have not been able to do that. Below are more details.
    In particular, I have an app module that has a client interface with a custom method that takes and returns a serializable Emp object (user defined classes/objects). I need to expose this app module as a web service through the use of a service interface.
    When i run the "Create Service Interface" wizard, under service custom methods (Create Service Interface Step 2 of 4 wizard), i don't see my custom method under "Available."
    In addition, the JDev message log says: Business Components: Method "yourCustomMethod(Emp):Emp" cannot be exposed via service interface because the return type "com.mypackage.Emp" is not supported.
    From what i understand by reading the docs below, it seems that in an application module's service interface (Webservice) you only can use simple data type or java.util.list or AttributeList (which is a wrapper for any viewRow). In other words, i cannot use my user defined object in the custom method parameters and return types.
    This seems to be an artificial limitation of webservice creation through the use of app module because one can use complex/user defined objects in methods of a java class and expose them through a webservice.
    I would appreciate if of the tooling PMs can make a well thought out comment.

    Hi,
    question 2 doesn't apply as the client interface is for Java access to public methods. For the Service Interface, the document lists the supported data types you can use in arguments and return values. To expose a custom methods, what about using a POJO that accesses ADF BC (using create root application module) and then expose your POJO as a JAWS service. This will allow you to expose the data queried from ADF BC through your custom classes.

  • Class extends JComponent how to use custom methods?

    I have a class Block which extends JPanel
    code is hereprivate class Block extends JLabel{
              boolean top;
              Block(int a,Color c){
                   setSize(40 + a*10,20);
                   setBorder(BorderFactory.createMatteBorder(40+a*10,0,0,0,c));

                   this.top = b;
              boolean getTop(){
                   return top;
         }I need to use getTop() method of certain block in class implementing MouseMotionListener
    I used getComponent() method like this
    e.getComponent().getTop()but it didn't work and gave
    HanoiTowers.java:59: cannot find symbol
    symbol : method getTop()
    location: class java.awt.Component
    if(e.getComponent().getTop()){}

    Is there some other way to do this?

    Is there some other way to do this?You could cast I suppose:
              Component c = e.getComponent();
              if (c instanceof Block)
                System.out.println(((Block)c).getTop());

  • How to create the custom method and make it available to clients:

    Hello, Can any one help me with this problem ASAP??
    I am trying to work on an example of "Customizing the Query and Creating an Associated Custom Method"
    from http://helponline.oracle.com/jdeveloper/help/topics/jdeveloper/developing_mvc_applications/adf_pviewcustommethod.html?tp=true#method. To do that, the first task is to create the custom method and make it available to clients.
    Following instructions in the helponline documentation, I completed the three steps: (1) "Specify a custom query for the View Object definition for EmployeesView", (2) "Add the custom method to the application module Java class", and (3) "Make the method available to clients".
    The following is the error message I got to test the application module. Can anyone tell me what the message really means and what I should do. I am wondering if there is any mistakes in the document.
    (oracle.jbo.SQLStmtException) JBO-27122: SQL error during statement preparation. Statement: SELECT Employees.EMPLOYEE_ID, Employees.FIRST_NAME, Employees.LAST_NAME, Employees.EMAIL, Employees.PHONE_NUMBER, Employees.HIRE_DATE, Employees.JOB_ID, Employees.SALARY, Employees.COMMISSION_PCT, Employees.MANAGER_ID, Employees.DEPARTMENT_ID FROM EMPLOYEES Employees WHERE Employees.SALARY > :1 and Employees.DEPARTMENT_ID = :2
    ----- LEVEL 1: DETAIL 0 -----
    (java.sql.SQLException) ORA-01008: not all variables bound

    You need to set values for the parameters in your query before you try to execute the query in the view object.
    So you need to call the setBindVars method before the query.

  • Is it possible to call a custom method in App Module from a backing bean?

    I would like to know if a custom method in App Module can be called from inside a backing bean.
    I am not sure if it is logically right to call, from a backing bean, a custom method in App Module. But would like to know if that makes sense or if it is possible.

    Hi..
    Yes it is possible.You have to add that method for client interface of AppModule.Now you can see that method in Data Controls(Refresh the data control). To call this method using bean it should add as method action to bindings(Click Bindings>+>methodAction>and Create action binding).
    Now you can call this method in bean class.
    Check following example use this concept to execute view criteria

  • Custom method and Backing Bean

    Hi,
    I have created a custom method in my application for creating a record in table "TEST".
    I then dragged the method on a jspx page and created a parameter form.
    The method has some parameters, for example parameter1, parameter2,....parameter10.
    One of the parameters i have specified it as a selectOneRadio. Based on what the user selectes, i want to hide/show some parameters.
    What i would like to do is to be able to access the selectOneRadio from a bean, and then access the other parameters so to set render option to true/false based on the selection.
    Thanks

  • How to use ApplicationModule custom methods in JSP?

    I have an ApplicationModule for which I have defined several custom methods (in the ApplicationModuleImpl class). I wish to invoke these methods from a JSP. I'm having trouble getting a scriptable reference to the application module object in the JSP. I can get data from the view objects using the jbo:xxx data tags, but I can't get any sort of reference to the application module object that would allow me to invoke the methods. I have tried editing the application module to expose the methods as client methods, but still can't get a reference to them.
    My main questions:
    1. Is there a way to invoke the custom methods somewhere between the jbo:ApplicationModule tag and the jbo:ReleasePageResources tag?
    2. Is there a way to declare and use the application module without using the jbo:ApplicationModule tag? Would I ever benefit from doing this?

    Alan, here's how to call a custom method String getSomeInfo() that I've created on my application module, MyModule in this example. Also, in this example the id parameter in the ApplicationModule tag is "am" (<jbo:ApplicationModule id="am"...):
    First, edit your application module. In the app module editor, go to the Client Methods tab and move getSomeInfo into the selected list.
    Next, edit your JSP to call your custom method.
    <% MyModule myAm = (MyModule)am.useApplicationModule(); String someInfo = myAm.getSomeInfo(); %>
    You also have to add the correct import statements to the page tag in your JSP:
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252" import="oracle.jbo.*, MyModule.common.*"%>
    Hope this helps

  • Adding and Calling custom method to the application module or view object

    My project uses jheadstart 10.1.2.
    I want to run "oracle reports" from my uix page. I have coded a method which takes "VOParameter view object" as a parameter to run report.
    I have generated the input page (parameter page) which based on VOParameter view object, by using jheadstart for using jheadstart lov, date etc. advantages. But I dont know how can I add custom method on application module or view object implementation class and custom button on uix page to call from uix page.
    THANKS for your help

    Yes, method binding has been added to the page UI model.
    I have find some clue that When I darg and drop metod as a submitButton, the code "
    <SubmitButton text="runReport" model="${bindings.runReport}" id="runReport0" event="action" />"
    is added to the uix page code. I change this code like this;
    <button text="runReport" model="${bindings.runReport}" id="runReport0" event="action" onClick="submitForm('dataForm',1,{'event':'action','source':'runReport0'});return false"/>
    by adding onClick method and changed submitButton to button tag..
    Then button action is triggered. But I can not pass to the design part of the uix page. It gives me the message like that "The document is not a valid state" But it works. I dont know why?

  • How to call a method in IMPL class from one context node

    Hi, I´ve been only study the posibility to access a method in the IMPL class  from one context node class...CN## without using events, is there a way to call it ??? I don´t have it as requierement just learning thanks !.

    Hi,
    Try this by following this you can get the custom controller instacne in the view context nodes, for your requirement you can keep the view implementation class instance instead of cuco..
    To get the custom controller instance in Context node getter/setter method:
    1. Declare Cuco instance reference variable in ctxt class..
    2. Set this cuco ref. in the Create context node method of ctxt class:
    try.
    gr_cucoadminh ?= owner->get_custom_controller( 'ICCMP_BTSHEAD/cucoadminh' ). "#EC NOTEXT
    catch cx_root.
    endtry.
    you can avoid this step as this is not needed in case of view isntance
    3. Assign this instance to the respective context node Create method using:
    BTStatusH->gr_cuco ?= gr_cucoadminh.  " here assign the view implementation ref. " me" instead of gr_cucoadminh
    Here gr_cuco is the ref. variable of custom controller in the respective context node for eg. BtstatusH
    Sample implementation of this can be found in
    ICCMP_BTSHEAD/BTSHeader ->context node BTACTIVITYH-> attr ->GR_CUCO(instance of cuco)

    As Matt pointed out, your questions indicate that you should start from the basics, then as your knowledge enlarges, go and familarize with more advanced concepts of ABAP Objects. Once you feel a bit comfortable with that, go for BADIs and read a bit about that too.
    In my opinion the best start is to read some book, which covers most of ABAP OO concepts. Personally I would recommend [ABAP Objects: ABAP Programming in SAP NetWeaver|http://www.sap-press.com/product.cfm?account=&product=H1934] as I like this author and had his previous book. This would give you strong foundations of what is going on here. Eventually you will often want to refresh some concepts so you have everything you need in one spot (book).
    Of course if want to save some money, simply look for articles/blogs/wikis in SDN or search in Google. There are plenty of these.
    For start I suggest these series of videoblogs [Basic ABAP OO eLearnings|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs;jsessionid=(J2EE3414800)ID1160600550DB10016261778120999663End?blog=/pub/wlg/15408]
    This will give you rough idea how the OO design should be done.

  • Method declaration in Class

    Hi Experts,
             In Classes and Methods i got one requirement like this , Please respond it.
    I have to create the method , where class is already defined(ZCL_CONFIGURABLE_ITEM )
    Create Method:  IS_SEQUENCE_NOT_TO_PRINT .
    Class name :ZCL_CONFIGURABLE_ITEM
    They had given me example logic also. But iam not able to do this because i have no idea on classes and methods.
    Please see this example and respond me .
    Create Method:  IS_SEQUENCE_NOT_TO_PRINT .  This must be a value method in class ZCL_CONFIGURABLE_ITEM , passing document number VBDKR-VBELN that returns a parameter value: X = True, Blank = false.
    GET BILLTO_PARTNER customer number for the document (reading VBPA where VBELN = document number VBDKR-VBELN and partner PARVW = ‘RE’ / ‘BP’)Read table KNA1 to get field KNA1-KATR6 where KUNNR equals Billto partner, and fields VBDKR-VKORG, VBDKR-VTWEG, VBDKR-SPART, Store first character of field KNA1-KATR6 in a work field e.g. W_ KATR6.
    Add the entry below to the ZLITERAL table in all clients
    Read the records from ZLITERAL table (reading key1 = C_ZLIT_GENOSYS_KEY, and key2 = C_KATR6_1) where C_KATR6_1 = attribute on class, with value = KATR6_1 .  You must add this attribute on the class.  Populate the internal table L_ZLITERAL_TAB type ZLITERAL_TAB_TYPE.

    Hi,
        You can create the method from the CLASS BUILDER. SE24. There navigate to methods tab and enter you method name. Then select visibility public or private.
    Then click on the parameters button to add parameters to the method. Selec IMPORT, EXPORT or RETURNING parameter for the function.

    Then, I wire a struts action after the one calling the custom method, and drag a commit onto that as well. Is there a better way? I wanted to make sure...
    Thanks.

    John,
    it seems that your are commiting it twice then.
    On another issue, don't program directly against View objects in your Struts Action. Write a method on the YourApplicationModuleImpl class and expose this to the client. Have this method handle the update and commit on the server. In the Action simply call the method exposed method from the YourApplicationModule.

  • Invoking Custom Methods with MiniButtons Not Working

    Hi Experts,
    I followed the steps in the Siebel 7.8 doc exactly to invoke method with
    miniButton, but it gave me error:
    The specialized method 'MyTest' is not supported on Business Component
    'Account' used by Business Object 'Account'.(SBL-DAT-00322)
    The steps I copied from the doc shown below, is the doc wrong in certain
    step or anything else I need to take care? I also checked the Siebel
    SupportWeb about the error code, but didn't seem to solve this simple test
    case.
    Any help is appreciated!

    Invoking Custom Methods with MiniButtons
    Be sure to set up Tools for the appropriate Target Browser Group.
    To invoke a custom method with a MiniButton
    1. Choose an applet (for example, Account List Applet) and create a
    control with the following properties:
    Name = ButtonTest
    Caption = Test
    HTML Type = MiniButton
    Method Invoked = MyTest
    2. Right click the Applet and choose Edit Web Layout.
    The Web layout editor appears.
    3. Change the template mode on the Web Controls toolbar to 3: Edit
    List.
    A window opens with the available controls, including the one you just
    created.
    4. Drag and drop the control the ButtonTest control onto an available
    location. When you release the mouse button, the button appears.
    5. Click Save and then choose File > Close.
    6. To add a server script to the applet that enables the button,
    right-click the applet and choose Edit Server Scripts. Add the following
    script to the WebApplet_PreCanInvokeMethod() function.
    function WebApplet_PreCanInvokeMethod (MethodName, &CanInvoke)
    if ( MethodName == "MyTest" )
    CanInvoke = "TRUE";
    return( CancelOperation );
    return (ContinueOperation);
    7. Add the following browser script to the applet you are using (for
    example, the Account List Applet).
    function Applet_PreInvokeMethod (name, inputPropSet)
    switch (name) {
    case "MyTest":
    alert( "Siebel 7 browser script!" );
    return("CancelOperation");
    break;
    return ("ContinueOperation");
    8. Run any application that has access to accounts, and go to the
    Accounts screen.
    The new button should appear.
    9. Click Test.
    The Browser Script should display an alert box indicating "Siebel 7
    Browser Script!"

    Hi
    As said above I have tried with Account List Applet and created a new control with MethodInvoked Property=Test; HTML Type=Button and added to the weblayout
    2.Enable the new button on the applet
    Applet--->Server Script
    function WebApplet_PreCanInvokeMethod (MethodName)
    if(MethodName=="Test")
    CanInvoke="True";
    return(CancelOperation);
    return (ContinueOperation);
    3.Applet--->BrowserScript---->
    function Applet_PreInvokeMethod (name, inputPropSet)
    if(name=="Test")
    alert ("Your Result is success")
         return ("ContinueOperation");
    when clicked on button it was throwing following error:
    Siebel Error Message SBL-DAT-00322: The specialized method is not supported on Business Component ' used by Business Object .
    gone through support web and read possible reasons but I am not able to find out where I was wrong
    I am using siebelV 7.7 ; Applet is using Class:"CSSFrameListBase". It is not a Copied applet.
    Could you please suggest me.
    Thank You,
