Customize E-Commerce 7.0 in NWDS

Hello all.
We are not using NWDI, only NWDS. I need to make changes to E-Commerce 7.0.
Is there any other way than modyfiying the jsp files directly, I mean, is it possible to import the project into NWDS?
If it is not possible: How do you transport the files?

Hi,
There was two options for changing the JSP pages.
1. Go the installation directory /usr/sap/systemname/installationname/j2ee/cluster/server0/apps/sap.com in that path u can find out the application crm~b2b there in the root folder all the JSP pages are available.Go the respective page and change accordingly.
2. You need create the Enterprise Application in NWDS and import all the source and prepare the ear file and deploy it from NWDS. For deploying the application you required the SDM user Id and passowrd.
Please check with ur basis team then can provide u the required credentials.

coming to modifying the ess business package you need to have NWDI.
once you have NWDI you can import the code into NWDS and start modifying and transport to other systems.

SAP WEB AS installation

Hi,
Client have provided 1 RDP machine through Citrix and I have installed NWDS 7.01.07 to customize E-commerce ISA applciation.
Now i dont have J2ee Engine on the same machine. i tried downloding the WAS from Marketplace and i am unable to extract those files. i came to know that if i install WAS on same machine , performace of that machine will be very slow and i cannot develope using same machine. installing DB2 and J2ee Engine is again a big pain. is there any other possibility where i can debug the code easily.

hi Juan
You need ABAP+Java addin (in that order) for XI or MI. and for EP you need Just JAVA (Stand alone).
and how ever i wouldn't recommend putting them on the same WAS cos of Performance reasons. You should have a super good server to handle both in production scenerio. if its for demo/test purpose, you may as well have it. Visit this forum SAP XI + EP + MI on a single WAS 6.40 instance

Adding a new column to an existing database table

Ess Customization by NWDS

Hello all,
I have two question.
1. i have to customize the ESS web dynpro application e.g. Address Screen for USA and SAUDI. we have to add the date field "Hijra Date" and "Hijra Age" from the Backend for saudi and have to add some fields on USA as well. How may i do it give step by procedure for importing it into nwds then how it will reflect back.
2.i know that first i have to import these application in NWDS threw NWDI. but if i will import it and change it here then how will it reflect back and if i change it then then original will get removed or not .
3. Can we create the 2 copies of a single component like "Address". What can be the right approach to maintain the screens for US and SAUDI, can we hide some fields from the particular screen of US or SAUDI at run time. And if we can, How ?

You have to first setup the NWDI...then create tracks in it and import the ESS SCA file into it....then import the track as Development Configuration ....then create a project for it....check out the code ...start modifying it and check it back in...refer to the note 872892 for it...

E-commerce using NWDS without NWDI

Good day!
I must develop (in fact, just custom) an e-commerce application using NWDS. Unfortunately, there is no NWDI available to this project. Is it possible to deploy the application under such condition? In afirmative case, what would be the major drawbacks of such approach?

Hi Diego,
Yes can create and deploy your project or DC without NWDI. YOu can just create projects or in case you are creating DCs you can do so in "LocalDevelopment" Development Configuration.
Drawback is that you cannot do shared development. With NWDI you get a repository (DTR) where you can create your DCs and your teammate can also modify that. Also NWDI provides CBS and CMS for Component Build Service and Change Management Service. YOu will not be able use these.
CBS builds components and their dependants on demand and provides ready-to-use libraries
and deployables for developers and runtime systems.
CMS is responsible for the transport of software within the landscape,
including source code and libraries.
In case you still want to do shared development you can download open source plugins like subclipse(sub version repository). Install the plugin and you can share the code for modification.

How to customize B2B webshop using NWDS

Currently I'm working on NWDS (A beginner), and I want to get hands-on experience as how to customize web pages(java) using NWDS. But still I dont have clear view as where to start from?. It would be very helpful, if you guide me with step by step process.
Also, How to customize a B2B webshop pages(.jsp) using NWDS. what are the basic requirements/ prerequisites to acheive this? and what are the basic configuration settings for NWDI, J2EE Engine??

MAM25.war ? Useful only for customization/NWDS?

Hi All
I believe MAM25.war file comes with MAM2.5 Installation zipfile from service.sap.com, is used in NWDS to enhance the MAM (for example Order display).
Other than this, do we need to have this MAM25.WAR file uploaded via webconsole and then download to laptop/PDA inorder to have MAM 2.5 working ?
I mean, is it mandatory to upload MAM25.WAR in webconsole and downlaod into Client to have Client devices to display basic Scenarios displayed after successful MI Middleware and R/3 backend server configuration?
Please guide me.

Hi Ragavan,
It is not mandatory to upload MAM25.war in webconsole and download to cilent for the client changes to happen. Once you have deployed your application to the webconsole and downloaded to client along with the data with proper customization on the backend, you can do changes to client without uploading to webconsole in two ways.
1. Make a new war file once your changes are done in the netweaver developer studio and stop the mobile engine and rename the warfile in webapps or delete the old one and replace the new war file with changes and restart the mobile engine.
2. Second way is by directly replacing the class file if you are changing any java file by direclty mapping classpath to the corresponding webapps/mam25/..... path.
But if you are not using precompiled jsp's and if you want to change any jsps then delete the contents inside the work folder and replace the file and restart the mobile engine.
If you are changing any properties file then stop the mobile engine and go to data folder and delete the contents under particular user.
But i would recommend you to replace the war file if there are more changes or if you are changing only the java files then map the output of classfiles to particular directory of mobile infrastructure.
Uploading of new war file to webconsole is necessary only if application name gets changed for example from MAM25 to MAM20. But for the same application you dont need to upload the new warfile everytime instead you can do it directly for client changes by just replacing the war file.

Customization of Search JSP Template in Commerce Server

          I am currently amending the search.jsp template provided by BEA in the wlcs/commerce
          folder within Commerce Server 3.5 and according to them, one could carry out searhes
          on virtually any fields within the table provided ie WLCS_PRODUCT.
          I am trying to restrict field searching to the WLCS_PRODUCT_KEYWORD table so that
          the primary keys would be used to do searches on the Product Catalog table.
          Does any one have a good idea on how to do this?

Unable to create new DC in NWDS on NWDI Track.

Hello,
I created a track for ESS/MSS customization and it is working fine.
Now I need to add a SC in my track...
In this new SC I will create the DC in NWDS for all custom development.
So what I did :
1. In NWDS I already imported the track. And working on modifications of ESS.
2. I logged into SLD and created a new Product -> Software Unit and created my new SC in it.
3. I log into CMS -> Landscape Configurator and under "track data" tab I added the SC.
4. Now in NWDS I Updated the Configuration from selecting "Update Configuration". As a result my new SC comes in NWDS.
5. Now I selected my new SC and select Create New DC...selected type as "web dyynpro"
here the problem comes :
When I clicks on "Finish" in Create DC Box..........I get below error :
"DC Creation Finished with some problems"...
Reason : Get Activity failed.
Could not configure DC project; see log for details........
From where I can see these logs...?
And what could be the reason for this error...?
have I missed some step ?

Hi,
well at this stage, since the problem is not reproducible any more it is difficult to say. It could have any temporary network issue(when contacting the server at that step "Get Activity"), it could be even a bug or any other reason. I know few details of your scenario, perhaps NWDS is not properly matching to the server from release point of view (cbs client in your NWDS vs. cbs release version at server side), just to mention couple of examples, but as mentioned from the info I have it is difficult to find out.
You can look for this error in the log file and check the surrounding log entries. Perhaps when you face again this issue, let us know in this forum thread entry along with the discussed log file.

Questions on SAP Biller Direct Java Customization

I am working on SAP Biller Direct java customizations. Can anyone help me find answers to these questions.
-- I have created local DC from the Biller direct track in NWDI. I would like to change the User registration page in Biller Direct.
Can any one let me know the JSP page name for that and where can i find it in the components.
--- Also all this development do i have to do it in J2EE perspective and checkin my changes?
Also i would like to know if anyone can send some documents on devlopment part of Biller direct.

I have a couple quick questions about BD development and would really appreciate it if you could provide some advice since we are starting our build soon.
In my NWDI track, I have component FSCMBD and several other of the required SAP components. I did not create a new product or component, just followed the procedure in this thread: https://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1331894. Is that the method you recommend?
I am concerned about doing development directly on the FSCMBD component. How do I prevent my developers from modifying BD source code? Is the idea that they will create independent DCs in NWDS (as you described) and only modify those? I just want to make sure that we are doing development in a way that is supported and will not cause issues when applying SPs or upgrades to FSCMBD.
I also want to confirm that this "create project" activity is not something that I need to do as an Administrator in the NWDI track; this is something my java developers will need to do in NWDS at the beginning of the build.

Error in NWDS WAR import. taglib.

Hi Experts,
my requirement is to customize the login page for CE 7.1.
I have taken the WAR file, Imported it into NWDS.
I imported the jar file logon.jar also. But immediately after the import,
but im facing an error which say:
"Cannot find the tag library descriptor for /SapLogon".
Can anyone pls help me in solving this issue.
Pls provide answer in detail.

Now as I mentioned earlier, when I go to com.sap.aii.security package in the jar com.sap.aii.sec.svc_api.jar there is no 'lib' folder. Also there is no security.class in any of the subfolders in com.sap.aii.security .
- In PI7.1 security.class is in folder ext, check whether you can find the folder ext.
- Your SampleAdapter has already implementation code in it, as you mentioned in the source there are import statements, so the point to focus is to make your source error free, after compile.
- In case you have the sap.comtcsecssfcore.jar added to your build path, try to reimport the two classes, still if it show error try to close and open your module project.
