Damage of dedicated Volume, Camera convenience keys

Hi,
I have 8520 model BB and all the dedicated convenience keys are damaged. I understand the quality of material used (presume rubber) is sub-standard and is not able to withstand the number of cycles of usage. The instrument was purchased in 2010 and was sparingly used. I have noticed that several of the instruments which are being used by my colleagues in my company have the same problem.
QUESTION : Does BlackBerry have taken up any initiative to replace the damaged (rubber) convenience keys without any additional cost to customers like it is done in the case of Automobiles? or is there a service center which does this at a cost?
I personally feel that this is a quality failure and BlackBerry has to immediately respond on a solution without penalizing the customers.
Anticipate a quick response.

Left Convenience Key Not Changing !!

Just got a new blackberry about 5 hours ago, I went to change my Left Convenience key to BBM but it won't budge from Voice Dialling (Defult) While my right on it on its defult which is the Camera but I am able to change that but why can I not change my Left key??

Convenience Key Is Not Working!!!

Hi, BB fans I just got a BB Torch 9860 phone. However the convenience key is not working. No matter to what option I set it to, it doesn't work. The default Camera also doesn't work. I have enabled the keytones on my phone. I hear the keytone whenever I press the convenience key. But nothing happens. My phone's running BB OS 7.1 bundle 2061. So.... any prosss can help of this?

I understand. Since you just did an exchange, I recommend taking it to the store.
It sounds like you're setting up the key right, but the button just doesn't work. It doesn't sound like you have additional apps install that could prevent the key from working.

Getting IM+Talk to work - convenience key

Good day,
I have loaded IM+Talk and in order for me to transmit voice, it requests that the "left convenience key" be pressed. There is no left convenience key to press.
Skype connects, and I can hear the other party, but cannot transmit voice.
If I go to options to assign an action to the convenience key (situated on the right), it seems that the convenience key only opens applications such as camera (default action).
Question is - how do I then transmit voice using IM+Talk?

CmdfnF5 (or just Cmd+F5 if your keyboard is set to use the F keys as F keys instead of vol controls etc.)
Can also be set from System Preferences > Universal Access

Convenience keys opening the phone screen.

I have a Curve 8530. The convenience keys are going to the phone screen. The right is entering the letters Hi and the left is entering Yi.
I've checked the options and its set on camera and voice dial defaults.
I've tried enabling memory cleaning. I am at a loss. Please help.

Left Convenience Key issue

In Options>Screen/keyboard, Ii set up the L (or R) Convenience key as "Compose"
This should allow a one key press to initiate an SMS
However when I push it and it spawns the response from the BB Storm, it brings up the contact list ok but when I chose a contact - all it does is ask if I want to CALL the contact. It doesnt switch to the text insertion mode so that I can actuially compse a text. In the menu then it asks if I wasnt o call sms or mms the contact.
Any ideas whassup? Or how els one can get a 1 key method of getting to the SMS prog?

Having a compose shortcut will take to address book to choose a contact so that you can send emails. It will not direct you for making calls or sending SMS text.

Need of a "convenience key"-like feature for the audio jack

This should be a very simple OS patch for the RIM programmers. When the 3.5mm audio output is connected, it would be extremely handy to have something like a "convenience key" feature. To be more precise:
-in Option, Screen/Keyboard, please make a section like "when in audio output, opens:" so one can choose an app, like an MP3 player or anything else
- and another option "when in audio output, connects:" so one can ENABLE bluetooth (and not Set Up bluetooth which is useless) automatically. The bberry will automatically pair with a preset device, like the bluetooth system of a car.
I hope this will be available in future OS or in a quick patch, and I'm sure many other will appreciate such features.

I don't think anyone (at least I didn't) state it was inappropriate.

Hi just an update to the problem of the convenience key not working or working now and again. I had to do a couple of reboots this morning to update some apps and I noticed the key was not working after the reboot so I attached the charging cable to the phone and plugged into the wall socket thinking that will fix it again, but no it didnt. !!! I then remembered the first time I had this sorted I had plugged the charger in and switched the power on and then attached the phone, so I tried this method again and the key is working fine again!!!!. So what ever is happening when you do it in this sequence seems to reset the key. How did you get on with your phone with the Blackberry info?

Convenience Key Customization

I need the right side convenience key to go to: Now Playing.
The closest option now is media.
Can you program that into the next OS or provide a link to a 3rd party provider that has this feature?
I use my BB 8300 series for listening to pod cast. Also it would be nice if the media player had a fast forward feature for listening to the commercials in double speed.

Convenience key left

Ok so I have the new OS, I go to options and find teh convenience key icon, I click on it and it disapperas and returns but no options come up. It does not seem to have acess to change it?
Any ideas?

Left convenience key problem

No matter how many times I reset it the left convenience key only brings up the phone book. I want the default voice calling. I've tried setting it to several things to see if it was a problem with just the voice calling but no the phone book is all that key will bring up. The other side works fine. I reset it when I first got my 8110 for the alarm feature but recently decided to change back to default. It won't go back to alarm either. TIA

Convenience keys won't work...

When I lock my BB Curve 9300, I can't unlock it. All 3 convenience keys (right, left and mute) won't work. PLEASE HELP!!! I have to take the battery out to get it to unlock

To rule out any Software issue I prefer you should Reload your Device Software and see if that helps otherwise you need to contact your Service provider for repair.So please try it first.

Volume and Brightness Keys

I have problems using the volume and brightness keys on my keyboard. I've been using these shortcuts on my keyboards without pressing fn before. Nonetheless, all these keys didn't work all of a sudden, even if I try to press fn+f1/f2/f10/f11/f12.
I tried to restore the window system back to some other days and those keys work out fine. I just want to fix this problem. I want to only have to press f11 to change the volume just like the OS system does!
Please help It's so inconvenient!!!

Thanks for your reply. It is true that the diamond icon does not run upon startup anymore. It used to run automatically whenever I start my window. I tried to run MSCONFIG but it shows that the keybrdmanage.exe is running.
Nonetheless, I tried to go RUN and choose the bootcamp file and under that file there is a keyboardmanger.exe file and once I click those keys work fine again. Is there a way to auto run bootcamp by itself so that I don't have to run all these steps again? I tried to choose always show the bootcamp icon in the task bar but unfortunately it doesnt work. =[
Can you please tell me what to do?
