Data log directly from Norma 4000 power analyser rather than via Keithley 2700 data logger

Hello fellow LabVIEW users
My Norma 4000 power analyser is connected to my Keithley 2700 data logger from which it logs data via GPIB using the attached VI.
Prior to making this VI I was not aware that the Norma 4000 could also log data values directly using labview which I found in the following LabVIEW post.
http://forums.ni.com/ni/attachments/ni/170/536731/1/LV9.zip
The Keithley logs the values into a *.txt file that can be opened in excel for analysis of the data. There are 7 values that are pulled from the power analyser and 1 from a radiometer and 1 from a temperature sensor. I essentially want the 7 values from the data analyser be directly input into the save file i/o rather than going via the Keithley which it is doing now. Some the signal is lost due to noise etc when going from ADC then DAC. Which is why certain values pulled from the Keithley have been multiplied before being put into file i/o.
Since these are popular instruments of choice I was wondering if anyone can direct me to any links to LabVIEW VIs that have already been made that DIRECTLY logs data values from the Norma 4000 into a *.txt file as in the attached VI. Or point me in the right direction perhaps. The LNOPA01 Getting Started.vi only shows current values. I want the data values to be logged into the *.txt files at certain time intervals with the corresponding signals from the radiometer and temperature sensor.
The Keithley drivers can be found in the following link
http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.download_page?p_id_guid=E3B19B3E93BC659CE034080020E748...
Thanks for all the help beforehand.

Hi,
I was not able to find an example that will directly log data from the Norma 4000. I looked at the LNOPA01 Getting Started.vi and it seems like, with a few modifications, you could use this to log data. You would have to open a file, write the collected data to the file, and then close the file. You are already doing something similar to this in the VI you attached.
If you only want to measure data at certain times, you could use a case structure in the while loop and only write to file when a certain condition is met. If this isn't an option for you, could you please elaborate on what difficulties you are seeing?
Thanks,
Paul B.

You use Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) for that job - or upgrade to a later iPhoto.

  • If I purchase lightroom but want to install on both a pc and a mac is that possible from just a download version rather than ordering a disc?

If I purchase lightroom but want to install on both a pc and a mac is that possible from just a download version rather than ordering a disc?

Yes, a single serial number can be used to install on two computers and one can be a PC and one a Mac.   The download will be a different installer for each platform but the serial number should activate both.

  • I'm getting the rainbow wheel when I try tp pen in internet page (Safari). The page half loads then appears to freeze with the rianbow wheel.  I get the same result when I try to stream a movie from NETFLIX.  Freezes up rather than plays (after loading).

I get the rainbow wheel when I try to open an internet page. It loads halfway, then freezes, with the rainbow wheel whirring around. Smae thing happens when I try to stream a movie on Netflix.  The movie loads, then the wheel shows up and the screen freezes.  Same thing when I try a DVD, it takes the disc, but won't play when I hit on PLAY.
I am repair permissions, and all that I can do, but I am a novice.  Any help would be greatly appreciated because I spend big bucks and drive 40 miles to get Apple help.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If your profile info is up to date, you probably have a 2006 or 2007 MacBook with a CoreDuo or Core2Duo.
It probably came with 512MB or 1GB RAM memory and a 60, 80, or 120GB hard drive.
    You're still running OS X Tiger, 10.4.
Your DVD drive may be dirty or wearing out.
For specifics about your computer, click on the  Apple Logo in the menu bar, then About This Mac, and More Info... to find details.)
You may be running short of hard disk space. You should have at least 10% free, or 10 to 15GB free for best performance. Less than that, and your hard disk is spending lots of time searching for places to store data.
Complex web pages and sites like Facebook and Twitter, and pages using Adobe Flash, and high-bandwidth applications like video streaming from NetFlix can all cause your computer to run slowly, and the fan to run at high speed, because the processor is working hard. Conversely, email is not terribly resource-intensive, and probably still works pretty well.
Several things can each provide a small performance increase (listed in no particular order):
Adding more RAM memory. Upgrade to 2Gb to give your programs a bit of 'breathing room', especially if you are running more than one program at a time.
Erasing the hard drive and reinstalling the current operating system and programs from scratch. This erases all your existing programs and data. Unless you have backups and program discs, you lose everything currently stored on it.
Installing a higher capacity, faster hard disk, say 250GB or 320GB will give your programs and data more space, and perhaps faster access if you replace the factory 5400rpm drive with a 7200 rpm drive. If your current hard disk is nearly full (less than 10% free space), the drive has to 'thrash' to free space to store information.
Upgrading the operating system to OS X 10.5 Leopard or OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Both are discontinued OS X versions, still available to order directly from Apple, but not likely found on a store shelf any longer. An upgrade to OS X 10.7 Lion might not be possible for your MacBook (details here: http://www.apple.com/macosx/how-to-buy/), and Lion would likely cause a further slowdown, because honestly, Lion is optimized for newer, faster dual-core or quad-core computers with fast video chipsets and 4GB or more of RAM.
A faster internet connection, for example: I switched internet providers to get a 3.0Mb DSL connection (up from a 512Mb connection) for an extra $10 per month, and saw downloads and internet browsing speeds increase dramatically.  With the slower connection, it was not possible to watch video.
Will all of these upgrades together get you close to the performance of the latest MacBook Air or MacBook Pros? NO!
Ultimately, you have a 4- or 5-year-old computer, and spending up to several hundred dollars for upgrades might not be a worthwhile investment for you, versus applying that much money toward the cost of a new(er) Mac, and perhaps passing your MacBook on to a friend, child, or grandchild who needs mainly email capability.
If a brand new Apple is not in the budget, consider a refurbished Mac from the Apple Store online. These are reliable computers from 'last year's models' and have the same 1-year Applecare warranty as a brand new model, and often sell at a discount of 10 to 30 percent of the price when the model was introduced.
I'm using a mid-2007 MacBook, purchased as a refurb from Apple in late 2007. It came with 1GB RAM, a 120GB 5400 rpm hard drive, and OS X 10.4 Tiger. Over the years, I've upgraded it twice. Firs to 2GB, then to 4GB RAM, to a 320GB drive, then to a 500GB 7200 rpm hard drive, and to OS X 10.5 Leopard, and then to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Rather than one more round of upgrades to OS X 10.7 Lion, I'm saving for a newer MacBook Pro or MacBook Air at some time in the future.

  • My email is overloaded. I would like to delete, in bulk, all emails from a sender...rather than one at a time.. I am talking hundreds.

I can sort my folders by sender, but would like to be able to delete in bulk messages from individual senders. I have thousands of emails sitting in my inbox and need to free up space on my computer. Thanks, Fran

Or use the QuickFilter to display just the messages from the selected sender, use ctrl+a to select all, then del to delete.
If the messages were spread across multiple folders, you could use the global search to find them, then "show email as list", then use the ctrl+a, delete sequence.
It really isn't a good idea to let messages accumulate in the Inbox. Why not create subfolders and organize your messages by topic or sender?

  • Getting paragraphs to begin a few lines from the top of page rather than at top of page

    Hey all,
I have a master A page. It contains page numbering and a variable, which contains the chapter heading. It is directly within the top and left margin of the page. Now I want all the paragraphs of the pages to be a few lines below the page numbering. Yet, when I try to apply text wrap to variable or page numbering, it knocks the other out of place. If I only apply text wrap to bottom of variable or page numbering, then when text flows on new page, it will flow above the page numbering/variable because the text wrap only applies to bottom and not top of variable or page numbering. So I'm not sure how to address this issue. Thanks for response.
    Thanks for response.

Here's the thing about the link being lost. I delete the spreads and then create new spreads off the master and now the textbox is positioned correctly with space above it. However, I can't just get the type tool and begin typing in the textbox. I'm forced to hit shift + apple  and drag over the box so I can begin typing in it. I think that's where the link is broken. So now later when I resize the text box in the master, it will not be reflected in any of the pages because I had to shift + apple them in order to be able to type in them. So how can I maintain the link to master while still being able to type into the text frame of any of the pages?
    Thanks for response.

  • When sending an email my From: box says "undisclosed recipient" rather than my actual name...want my name to appear in the From: line

When I compose and send an email my name and email address show on the screen. But when it is sent the "From:" changes to "undisclosed recipients". I have a screen print of what I am talking about...but don't see on this screen how to send it to you.
Hopefully you can give advice to a new user of Thunderbird.
    Margaret

Woops...found the problem. My address book had the name "undisclosed recipients" next to my email address. I edited that name to say "Margaret Parsons" and presto my name appears in the "From" line on my sent emails. Yeaa....problem solved, given enough time and poking around Thunderbird...sure love this email.

  • Can you  buy from iTunes with gift cards rather than use a credit card?

I have given my 17 year old nephew an ipod for his birthday and as he doesn't have a credit card can he use gift cards to buy from the iTunes store without one? Do you have to have a credit card to open an iTunes account? I wanted to give him a gift card to start him off with the iPod as he doesn't have many cd's to load on to it.

Yes, he can create an account and make purchases with gift card.
When he gets the gift card, have him open the iTunes store and click on Redeem at the top right under *Quick links*.
Input the card number then select *Create new account*.
Input the personal info and when it gets to credit card info, select None.

  • TS3899 Is there a way to delete a lot of messages from mail at a time rather than having to mark each message and delete?

Not that I have encountered, but if your provider supports webmail, you can generally accomplish it that way.

  • Hi there, is there any way to upgrade from iOS4.1 to 5, rather than iOS6??

I have an old iPhone 4 and I would like to upgrade it to a new iOS, but I am still not considering iOS6 because I rather stay with the actual Google Maps, etc...
Is there any way I can upgrade to an older version (iOS5) rather than the newest one?

Sorry, it is not possible to upgrade the older AirPort Express devices beyond version 6.3 since this would be hardware dependent.
If you are running Lion on your Mac, you can download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion to administer the older Express devices...and...your newer devices as well.
Keep both AirPort Utility 5.6 and 6.1 on your Mac.

  • Able to get 3 year warranty with education discount directly from Store?

Hi, I was just wondering if it was possible to get the 3 year warranty that comes with the education discount when you order directly from the Store in person, rather than exclusively online?
I was under the impression that the 3 year warranty was online available if you ordered online, but I might be wrong!

You can definitely get AppleCare whether you purchase in-person or online.

  • HT200109 Why do all my other Apple devices not care if the movie I rented from iTunes if it was downloaded directly to that device or not, but the stupid Apple TV won't allow you to play rented movies unless you rented it directly from the Apple TV?

Why do all my other Apple devices not care if the movie I rented from iTunes if it was downloaded directly to that device or not, but the stupid Apple TV won't allow you to play rented movies unless you rented it directly from the Apple TV?
Great, so now I have to airplay it by linking my computer to my Apple TV and then the movie has to buffer! So, all that time I spent downloading the HD video has to technically "download" again by buffering. The more I use Apple TV, the more I feel like this item was not created by Apple. I don't even use it for what I originally purchased it for. If I would have known that anytime I wanted to sync a movie from my computer to Apple TV by using airplay that it would have to buffer the movie, I would have never ever ever ever ever purchased this waste of time device. So the video has to technically play all the way through one time first so Apple TV can "remember" the movie to play it back in real time afterwards.
Am I missing something here? Am I doing something wrong that can be fixing my problem? I should have known that the Apple TV had so many things backwards when simple things like when you are using the remote and you reach the bottom of your list, in order to cycle back to the top of your list you have then press the directional buton back the other way rather than most modern day devices that will automatically cycle you back to the top or to the other side when you reached the bottom or end but keep on pressing the button. That **** annoys me when I am doing a search for a movie and have to type the name in manually and have to cycle back and forth to the letters. It makes me feel like I am using a rotary phone or something!

I was told by someone to try and purchase something directly from my Apple TV and that will help authorize my Apple TV.  So I picked something that was free and it downloaded.
Then I went back to the Movie that would not work and it played just fine.
So it seemed to work.  I will have to try it on other movies and TV shows later.

  • Log messages from multiple instances in single file.

    Hi!
I have a requirement that i need to log messages from muliple instances of the same object in a file. The new file will be created every day. Likewise, multiple objects might have various instances each.
    One class
    ->multiple instances
-> log message stored in single file.
    Note :
I am using the Message driven bean. I need to log from the bean class. JDK 1.3
If u could help me out that would be great.

As long as they are all from the same OS program (a single Java VM), that's OK - you can use Log4j, and use a rotating file logger.
If you point two different virtual machine processes at the same file, one may have it open when the other is trying to rotate it, and your rotation may fail (at best) and/or you may lose the old log (the worst case).
If you need to collect log messages from multiple processes (or even multiple machines), use a syslog-based logger (Log4j has a SyslogAppender) or use Log4j's SocketAppender to write to a log4j-builtin log listener (SocketNode).
