Data Menu - - XML Map options

Hello,
I looked in the help file and user guide, but could not find any info on the XML option. What does it do? It is not enabled on my menu. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have not used XML, but based on what I read in the document to pointed me to, it seems like XML is a tool that lets one define how the data is coming in.
I had not idea that a dashboard could actually be set up to refresh data from a database through Excel. I think that is cool. When I was seaching for info on the XML Map menu option, I looked for a sample file but did not see oe, nor did I find the pdf that you pointed me to, so I've come to the conclusion that my search skills leave something to be desired. LOL
The article did reference a tutorial for Excel, which I will find.
The pdf file mentions Xcelsius Enterprise XE. Is that another version of Xcelsius or can this be done in the professional 4.5 version?

I have created XML file and Imported in Excel. Design time I have 6 rows in sample xml file. I created XML Map connection and gave refresh option as every 5 sec. In my data I have 4 rows but in output it is displaying first 3 rows. I checked my Display Range it is proper. If I gave same XML file as input in XML Map connection then also it is loading first 3 rows. If I change anything in input file then it is displaying changes but not loading other rows but in design time it is displaying proper data from input url. Is there any way to fix it?

Hi Ganesh,
that is a disadvantage of xml maps. You will have to use the the xml connection for that.

List View Bound to XML Map Data

HI Have a list view that is bound to xml mapped data. It seems that on connection refresh that new data is not being updated into the SWF. My Binding is directly onto the cell ranges that are mapped into excel, so on updates the size of the maped table changes/rewrites over the old data.
When I refresh I am not picking up the newest data in the list view. Any thoughts on this on how I can fix.

Thank you Ganesh, but I am not on Enterprise edition. I am successfully bringing in live xml data, however mapping more than one Query result from one xml file is giving my project some problems. Refreshing a list View I think is causing this issue. From within my project in design view I can Refresh the data.
When I publish the file to html/SWF when I refresh other components are refreshing but the list view and one other is not refreshing.....

Hi Sairam,
Check the checkbox Convert database Null values to default and Convert other Null values to default under Edit -> Report Options and then refresh the report.
If this does not work you can contact SAP Support.

Bug in Data control generation against top link xml mapping class

I encountered serious problem when generating data control from a revised version of our xml schema (top link classes).
We change the structure by inserting element representing a node before the element that occurs more than once.
The structure is now

As you can see the element that represent the list is not inherited from a type. It is described locally in the schema. This mean that top link generate a class in the parent implementation class. In our case classification-language-list is defined in the interface ClassificationType.java and in the class ClassificationTypeImpl.java.

This last data control definition is completely wrong.
Here is the corresponding interface in ClassificationType.java:

Solve the problem by generating a data control for the implementation class also. This will cause the data control xml file to be created for the java class also (if not only the interface will have a data control xml file generated).

Asha 202 doesn't have a Maps option in the Menu!

Hello everyone on this community, I'm new here so forgive me if I make mistakes..
I want to know why my Asha 202 doesn't have either the Nokia Maps option or the Nokia Social App. Do I need to do anything to enable these?

If you have seen this advertised with these features thru' official Nokia Channels and If you have bought the phone from Nokia authorised dealer you may tell them to change it with other model which really has the features you want ... or else, you may raise the issue with NOKIA by using the 'Contact Us tab at the bottom of this page...
BTW, if Maps application is not pre-installed you can't do anything.. but for the Social application, you may try Nokia Store for other similar compatible applications if any ...

XML Mapping Inquiry

Hi,
Could someone please explain to me whether you need to do anything differently in the mapping step if the partner/vendor to whom you send PO data to uses the cbXML format?
We'll be using PI 7.0 which is the next version after XI 3.0.

I am just telling you that similar way you can try for CbXML also. I am not telling both are same.
I think it is not possible with Graphical Mapping. But you can try with hardcoding the header (cbXML part ) and you can check it. For this first make sure that your target message is not containing actual namespace. This you can do - going to Message Type and delete the namespace from the namespace column.
Changing Namespace section of the XML
Other options are generating the required header in the Receiver side ( using Java Modules )
Else use XSLT/JAVA Mapping ..

Excel XML Maps Problem

When I import a Excel 2003 XLS file with a Excel 2003 XML map defined I can see the data update if I use the refresh buttom on the spreadsheet pane of Xcelsius 2008 but nothing happens when I export the file as a SWF no matter what I set the refresh properties to?
Also when I bring up the Data > Connections Menu and try to ADD <Excel XML Maps> I do not get a dialog box on the right? The <Excel XML Maps> shows as an Existing Connection but does no show any information in the right panel?

Here is what I learned. Xcelsius 2008 does indeed supports Web Services. When I was exporting my Excel spreadsheets as XML and trying to refer to it in my SWF file it seems that the Excel XML file does not have the required mapping / schema.
Soooooooo I'm going to work with a friend who actuall understands Web Services and XML.

Excel XML map problem with numbers.

Hi Xcelsius gurus,
Once again i need your help.
I use Excel XML maps to get data into my embedded spreadsheet, my data are current year sales per month like below:
115.450,36
220.336,20
189.222,56
200.005,48
just numbers.
After inserting the xml data i am not able to use them. No chart, No list, No gause can present my data. Like there is no data.
I realised that after mapping the XML, spreadsheet's cells showing an error, when i click on error icon there is an option to convert data to number, that fix the problem.
What could i do to solve this issue? Is there any problem with my XML file?
Pease help me with this one, i am confused.

Xcelsius Dashboard on SAP R/3 Table using BSP and XML Mapping

Hi Experts,
I have developed a simple dashboard on small data set (10 records) that I am fetching from a R/3 Table into BSP and generating XML from there and consuming it in Xcelsius (SAP R/3 + BSP + XML Mapping).
Now I want to fetch data based on Variables values that should be passed from the dashboard at the runtime and should display the data accordingly. Any help on how it can be achieved?

Hi,
You could try doing this by using XML data connection. You would have to make use of Enable load to get the data from XML and Enable send to send data back to XML from dashboard.
This would require you to write a script.

Error While viewing data on XML model- java.sql.SQLException: constante num

I am trying to read an XML file and I keep getting an error. At first it worked, and the it stopped working. I re-did everthing exactly as first time and I cannot get it work
Here is what I do :
1)     Create Physical Architecture under the XML Technology.
a) we create a Data Server with these data:
          Name: XML_SERIVA_TM_DES
          Technology: XML
          JDBC Driver: com.sunopsis.jdbc.driver.xml.SnpsXmlDriver
          JDBC Url: jdbc:snps:xml?file=c:\Temp\hoy\CRM_CR_CURRENCY.xml&dtd=c:\Temp\hoy\ServiciosSerivaConsultasTypes0.xsd
     b) We place the files xml and xsd files according to the JDBC provided in previous point.
     We click on "Test Connection" and Connection is correct
     c) We create a physical schema under the Data Server created in point a) , with these data:
          Name: XML_SERIVA_TM_DES (After created the name is replaced by XML_SERIVA_TM_DES.Esquema)
          Schema (Schema) : <No Definido> ( not sure of english value, it should be <Undefined>)
          Schema (Work Schema) : <No Definido> ( not sure of english value, it should be <Undefined>)
          Default :It is a checkbox , and it is ticked.
          Under the "Context" tab, we add a logical schema named XML_SERIVA_TM for the "Desarrollo" Context
2) Create a Model On the Designer Navigator, we expand the "Models" panel
     a) For Organization, We create a "Folder" Model. It is named "XML"
     b) Under the Folder created in a), we create a new Model , with these data:
          Name: XML_SERIVA_TM
          Code: XML_SERIVA_TM
          Technology: XML
          Logical Schema: XML_SERIVA_TM
     c) Do reverse-engineering.
          In the Reverse tab of the model,
               + "Standard" is selected
               + Context: "Desarrollo"
               + The types of objects to reverse-engineer are: Table
          In the Selective reverse tab, we select : New Datastores, Existing Datastores, Objects to reverse.
          All the datastores that appear are checked
          We click on Reverse Engineer in the toolbar menu

I really don't have any clue about what is happening. I have made sure files are in UTF-8 encoding. I don't know if any jar might be corrupted.

Did you specified a Schema name for your physical schema ?
I had the same problem and no schema was set in my physical schema, when setting it, it must be OK.

Question about XML mapping to ABAP internal table

ABAP Data to XML file

Hi,
I have read this weblog
/people/patrick.baer/blog/2005/02/24/abap-serialization--part-i-quick-n-easy and tried to serialize ABAP data into XML format.
In fact, I have copied the exact code from this weblog, but somehow this file is not visible in my pc.

This part of the code, I have also changed to :
xml_stream_factory->create_ostream_uri( system_id =
'file://test.xml' ).
and still the file is not visible.
I presume three reasons:
a) Looking in the wrong place
b) Some configuration, I am not doing properly
c) Something else has to be done, to write a file to system
Any help on this regard, is highly appreciated.
Next issue being, how robust is the approach of serializing ABAP data into XML format, so that a third party system can pick up this data and do a comparison ?
Some parameters that I am looking for in this regards are:
a) Error Validation (can XML data be incorrectly written into a file/while transmitting this data some errors can creep in. If so, how do I rectify it. As far as I know, this data can only be written to Presentation Server or using FTP ,transported to required destination. Is there any other approach ? )
b) Security
Would be great if you could drop some hints for the above procedure.

I think you are perhaps overestimating the capabilities of the osteam object. If you want to write the XML to a file the easiest thing to do is render it an ostream_itable (internal ABAP table). Then you can download it your PC with the GUI_DOWNLOAD function:

As far as a different system, once you have the data serialized into a string or internal table you have lots of possibilites. If the other system is an SAP system you could send the data via RFC. You could always write the XML string to the server file system (via open dataset, transfer to dataset). You can then FTP the file (using built in SAP FTP functionality) just about anywhere.
What are you looking for as far as robust and secure. The XML serializer is built in the ABAP Kernel and quite robust. As far as secure- the data isn't secure at all. The data is written into a simple string (if written into the file system or your pc - it is a text or binary file that can easily be read by just about anything). Serializing to XML in and of itself isn't going to provide any security.

Data-sources.xml

Hi All,
In the 'Connections-Navigator' I have made some database connections, when I deploy my application JDev creates a file data-sources.xml ant put it under META-INF directory of ear file. But I am not able to see this file anywhere in my source tree. Is there any way to see and edit this file? Actually I want to enter some pooling related options in this file.

In my "SomeApp" workspace it appears in the same directory as SomeApp.jws, named SomeApp-data-sources.xml
