Data transfer from sybase to sql server

Hi ,
we are pulling data from sybase to sql server using ssis pacakges.
a column of type bit in sybase is transferred as int in sql server.
but because of that the value of sybase column as 1  is transfered as -1 in sql server till now .
suddenly the value is now coming as 1 in sql server.
can anybody tell me what could be going wrong here ?
please help
thanks in advance

If its a bit field in sybase the corresponding datatype should be bit itself in SQLServer. Bit is boolean based data having values as only 0 and 1 (and NULL also if columns in nullable). int datatype can hold any integer data so they both are not same.
Also a bit value of -1 is invalid and makes no sense

  • Data MIgration from Oracle to SQL Server 2005

    HI Gurus,
Kindly please advice me how to migrate Data from oracle to MS SQL Server or Vice Versa.
I came to know about 2 methods:
    1) Using SQL Developer
    2) USing ODBC.
KIndly let me know which method is better. I am in confusion about both option
    Kindly advice over the same
    Thanks

Usually such questions asked and answered on forums of a target system. In this case on MS SQL forums.
    But I will answer.
You should create a LINKED SERVER in MS SQL that connects to Oracle.
    Then issue couple of SELECT * INTO <TARGET_TABLE> FROM <ORACLE LINKED SERVER>..<SRC SCHEMA>.<SRC TABLE>.
Install Oracle Client and OLE DB driver on SQL Server machine.
Also, Oracle is case sensitive by default. MS SQL is case insensitive by default. If there are primary/unique keys that have mixed case values in Oracle, then in MS SQL you need to set case sensitive collation for them.
PS. If you need not only migrate data one time, but also to have a real time replication during an application transition period, you can take a look on heterogeneous replication solutions like Golden Gates or DataCurrents.

  • Data loading from Oracle to SQL Server

    Hi,
I am trying to Push the data from Oracle which is running in HP-UNIX to SQL Server. But don’t know the efficient way to connect the SQL server from oracle which is running on HP-UNIX.
I have heard about oracle Heterogeneous Connectivity but don’t know exactly how to implement it in Unix environment. If you have some guide of step by step process it will be really helpful.

  • Is it possible ?Change data capture from VSAM , DB2 , SQL Server  to Oracle

    Dear Professionals ,
We plan to build a warehouse project.Source systems are
    * VSAM files in zOS
    * SQL Server
    * DB2
    Warehouse database is Oracle .
Every night the changes in the source systems will be applied to Oracle warehouse DB.
But only the changes will be applied . Exporting VSAM files to flat file and load to oracle and find the data differences in Oracle is not accepted. Or moving the entire tables to oracle and finding the changes in oracle is not accepted.Only the changes will pass through the network .
Is "Oracle Connect" and "VSAM adaptor" capable of this ?
Is there a solution for SQL Server and DB2 change data capture ?
Is it Possible ? If possible is it a headache or a simple install and forget process?
    Thank you
    Bunyamin..

    Bunyamin,
I do not know about VSAM, but I heard/read that Oracle Data Integrator is able to do change data capture on several databases. It uses the source database mechanism to do CDC. So maybe give it a try at the fusion middleware forum where ODI is being discussed

  • Migracion Sybase a SQL Server

    Hola
Estoy intentando hacer una migracion de Sybase a SQL SErver pero tengo inconveneintes con la licencia la pagina dice que no lo encuentra, usted me puede ayudar como encontrar esta licencia par apoder realizar
    la migracion.
    Muy amable.

    Hi Karen Puentes,
Since this is English Forums about SQL Server, I recommend you post your issue with English, it is appropriate and more experts will assist you.
Translating your problem into English, we need to verify if your issue is that the registering page could not be opened.
// I'm trying to make a migration from Sybase to SQL Server but the registering licensed says page not found, can you help me find this pair link about license for performing the migration?//
SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) is a free supported tool from Microsoft that simplifies database migration process from Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) to SQL Server or SQL Azure. In theory, you can download the license in the registering page.
I also do a test, it is also display error 404.
Personally, I recommend you that submit the requirement at https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/.
If the requirement mentioned by customers for many times, the product team may consider to note this issue . Your feedback is valuable for us to improve our products and increase the level of service provided.

  • Data transfer from Oracle table to Sql Server

    Hi Friends,
How can we transfer the data of one table from Oracle to Sql Server and keep refresh it everyday monrning 10 a.m?

    Also see:
    http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle8i/doc_library/817_doc/server.817/a76960/hs_genco.htm#173
    And from Tom Kyte:
...you could put the MS SQL server jdbc driver into the oracle database. then a
java stored procedure can open a connection to MS. This connection would not
have 2 phase commit abilities, distributed query or anything but would let you
query data from there and update it as well.

  • Data transfer from SAP R/3 to SQL Server

Can anybody help me. I will explain the scenario.
If there is any change or update in the HR master data like creation of new personnel number or deletion of personnel number and change of cost center etc., should immediately get reflected in  the  SQL server. Can you please help me ASAP in solving this. Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards
    Bhagat.

    Hi,
We had the same scenario here also. You can call .NET code from ABAP program using SAP .Net connector.
The data can be downloaded to SQL server based on periodic job wise (every Half an hour or 1 Hour) .
    1. Write an ABAP report to get new personnal numbers from HR master tables based on created date.
    2. Create a RFC to pass employees details.
    3. You can create a proxy in .NET server stub code based on the above RFC.
    4. Write code to get data .NET object and establise a connection to SQL server.
    5. Write code to push data into SQL server tables.
    6. After you complete the .NET code, when you generate this code will create an exe file.
    7. You have to execute that exe with few command line arguments.
    8. The command line arguments need to setup in RFC destination (SM59).
    9. In that ABAP report call this RFC with RFC destination as you defined.
.NET code can be done by .NET person.
Let me know if you have any clarifications.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Govind.

  • How to connect from InformixDB to SQL Server 2012 (and copy data)

    Hello guys
I try to build a connection from an Informix (Informix2000) database to my SQL Server 2012.
I really dont know how to do this...
The plan is to build a job in the night in which data is beeing copied from the InformixDB to my SQL Server 2012
The SQL server should be like a "archive server" (same data as informix DB , but the data should stay for 2 years)
Any idea if this is possible ? (what im trying to do)
Can i do this with ODBC Connection ?
Thanks a  lot and Regards, Dominic

Thanks a lot guys... but what im trying to do is not to migrate the hole Informix DB to SQL 2012, i just want to copy some data into my SQL Server (archive). in the informix DB the data is only 30days back... i want to transfer  every week
the data and let it on the SQL Server 2 years back. (SQL Server should be like an archive system)
    Hello ,
Then you need to create an SSIS package to migrate data from Informix to SQL Server 2008 since Informix is old I dont know which connection provider to use but you can try ADO.NET connection provider
    Can you check below link
    http://davidbridge.wordpress.com/2012/05/30/extraction-from-informix-database-using-ssis-data-warehouse-etl/

my problem is that when i am pulling data from oracle into sql server it shows me about *500-700 entries less*.
why this is happening? is it because 32 bit to 64bit? or is it because of different os?

I've set the project settings mode to default, still getting the same error and tried using both Client Side Data Migration and Server Side migration, with both giving the same result.  I've tried going through the step-by-step blog as well.
I am doing something really stupid?  There are 64 tables, so don't really want to try doing exports from each table and importing it into the new database.
    Hope someone can help.
    Cheers
    Alex

    Hello,
I don’t have suggestions for you, but you can try contacting the SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) Team via e-mail ([email protected])
to see if they can provide a solution on this scenario.
    Hope this helps.
