  • Create a data source and database tables using WSAD

    Hi, guys:
the following is from a tutorial:
    http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/techjournal/0306_wosnick/wosnick.html
"To create the data source and Cloudscape database tables automatically, right click on the HelloWorldServer in the Servers view, and select the Create tables and data sources menu item. A dialog will then display showing that the data source and database tables were created successfully (Figure 5)."
I am using WSAD 5.0 trial version. I cannot find Create tables and data sources menu item if I right click on the HelloWorldServer in the Servers view. I am wondering if this is because trial version does not have this feature?
    regards

This question is a little off topic but you may get a reply. Please note this forum is about Sun's J2EE SDK and its related technologies. You may have better luck posting your question to an IBM specific resource.

  • Wandering data structure and database infrastructure

1, what do I need to do for building a new data structure?
2, what do I need to do for building a database infrastructure?

The questions still, unfortunately, don't make sense.
The first question is at least starting to coalesce into something answerable. I'm guessing that the first question is about data modeling but in order to make that guess, I have to assume that they're not talking about a "data structure" and that they mean to be talking about an application. If question 1 is really asking to describe a situation where your friend had to design a data model, the answer, presumably, would be to describe a situation where your friend had to design a data model. The interviewer would almost certainly have followup questions about how the data model was designed, why particular design decisions were made, etc. depending on the data model your friend started describing.
The second question still isn't close to answerable-- it is far from clear what is being asked.

  • Link between data dictionary and database

    Hi friends,
I have created  a ztable through SE11 and when i activated it a copy of it gets created in the database.
know i know that iam creating it at the application layer level now when upon activation how does it gets created in database.
what exactly is the linkage between application and database.
    can any one tell me
    Regards

    Hi
In the databse it's created a table with the same name of dictionary table, u should get a book of SQL command, or see the SQL command in Internet, for example search the command CREATE TABLE

  • Data source and Database table

    Hi All,
I am working on BW and i am trying to figure out the linkages between Database table and the data sources in our source system. I need to figure out which database table is linked to a particular datasource. Please guide me on the process.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ankur

    Hi Ankur,
In your source system look in table ROOSOURCE using SE16 and fill in your DataSource.
    The field EXTRACTOR will contain:
    - Table/DB-view name (if DS is based on a table -> EXMETHOD = V)
    - Function module (EXMETHOD = F1, F2 or FS)
    - Domain - fixed values (EXMETHOD = D)
    - ABAP Query (EXMETHOD = Q)
When a Function Module is used to extract the data (EXMETHOD F1/F2/FS) you need some ABAP skills to understand the code (SE37). From there you can derive from which table(s) it is getting the data.
    Hope this helps...

  • Data managers and database objects

    Hi,
I'm considering replacing our current database interface libraries with OCCI. A couple of questions:
    - Are database objects such as tables and columns accessible as OCCI types eg.
    Table tbl;
    Column col;
Note: I'm not interested in using Oracle user types at the database level here, unless there is no other way.
    - Is OCI programming also required or is the OCCI conclusive (I know it's built on OCI)?
    Regards,
    Michael

    - Are database objects such as tables and columns accessible as OCCI types
No. Data types are represented as classes, but to run a query you execute a statement which returns a resultset which you query with functions like getInt(1) or getString(2) which returns an int for column 1 and a string for column 2. OCI style casting of dvoid**'s to objects is not necessary as OCCI gives you the object directly.
    - Is OCI programming also required or is the OCCI conclusive
I assume you mean comprehensive, in the sense that it exposes the full range of OCI functionality. No, and I don't believe OCCI/OCI interoperability has been implemented yet either (ER 3169746 is still open for this feature), so unlike Pro*C where you can fill in the gaps with OCI code, you are limited to OCCI's limitations (unless you have separate OCCI and OCI parts in the same application, just replacing with OCCI the parts that can be replaced with OCCI).

  • Oracle Spatial RDF data model and database edition

Hi: Can some one please let me know the Oracle edition that support the RDF data mdoel.
According to my understaning it is Oracle 10g Enterprsie edition, with the Spatial option. If this is true; is installing the enterprise edition will already give me the Spatial option? or do I have to isntall the Spatial data model as a seperate module. Besides this is installing the Spatial data model already give the RDF capability, or again RDF is a sepeare module that need to be installed seperately?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Rashid.

    Hi Axel,
You could use the download of Oracle 10g available on OTN at http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/semantic_technologies/index.html. This can be used free for development, but not for deployment. As long as you use it just for development during your thesis and do not deploy it in a production environment it should be OK to use the free download.
Along with the free download we recommend also using the patch (RDF specific patch for 10.2.0.1 database) that is available by clicking on 'software' on the same page.

  • How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

If the data is on a remote server (for example, PHP running on a web server, talking to a MySQL server) then you do this in an AIR application the same way you would do it with any Flex application (or ajax application, if you're building your AIR app in HTML/JS).
That's a broad answer, but in fact there are lots of ways to communicate between Flex and PHP. The most common and best in most cases is to use AMFPHP (http://amfphp.org/) or the new ZEND AMF support in the Zend Framework.
This page is a good starting point for learning about Flex and PHP communication:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/flex_php.html
Also, in Flash Builder 4 they've added a lot of remote-data-connection functionality, including a lot that's designed for PHP. Take a look at the Flash Builder 4 public beta for more on that: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashbuilder4/

  • How to input data in a database table without knowing in advance table and column configurations

    Hi,
I have a problem using LabVIEW for input data (manually) in a SQL database. I have about 40 tables in the database, each of them is related to a specific engine component. I need to create a user interface (maybe visualizing the table with a table control) where the users can insert data in the database table fields. Could someone give me some suggestion on how to do it?
Using the  DB tools insert data.vi I need to know in advance the column configuration of the table, but in my database each table has its own structure! So do I have to create 40 different masks, one for every different table?
    Thanks in advance.
    Michela

I have not actually used the LV SQL Toolkit, but I will try and offer high level ideas :-)
when you have retrieved the construction data for a table, you should be able to use array and cluster indexing to aquire the names of the fieds, enough to create a labelled table on the LV Front panel.
After completing a new entry you can INSERT the entry into the database using the same data.
Is the SQL toolkit an additional purchase, or included in newer versions as standard? If you post a sample of the cluster/array that you retrieve, I could give you a sample VI to give you some pointers in creating the User Interface table

  • How to retrieve data using logical database and custom select options

    Hi all,
I have a selection screen which is displayed by logical database PSJ and I have two select options of my own. I need to retrieve data based on both selection screen of logical database and my own select options. How can I do it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hai Gupta
Check the following Document & Links
    1. A logical database is in fact
    a program only.
    2. This LDB provides two main things :
    a) a pre-defined selection screen
which handles all user inputs and validations
    b) pre defined set of data
    based upon the user selection.
    3. So we dont have to worry about from
    which tables to fetch data.
    4. Moreover, this LDB Program,
    handles all user-authorisations
and is efficient in all respects.
    5. tcode is SLDB
good info about Logical Database. you can check the link.

Functions for displaying and changing logical databases:
    Call Transaction SE36 or
Choose ABAP Workbench -> Development -> Programming environ. -> Logical databases
Interaction between database program and report:
During program processing, subroutines are performed in the database program and events are executed in the report.
To read data from a database tables we use logical database.
A logical database provides read-only access to a group of related tables to an ABAP/4 program.
    advantages:-
The programmer need not worry about the primary key for each table.Because Logical database knows how the different tables relate to each other, and can issue the SELECT command with proper where clause to retrieve the data.
    i)An easy-to-use standard user interface.
ii)check functions which check that user input is complete, correct, and plausible.
    iii)meaningful data selection.
iv)central authorization checks for database accesses.
v)good read access performance while retaining the hierarchical data view determined by the application logic.
    disadvantages:-
i)If you donot specify a logical database in the program attributes, the GET events never occur.
ii)There is no ENDGET command,so the code block associated with an event ends with the next event
statement (such as another GET or an END-OF-SELECTION).
    1. transaction code SLDB.
    2.enter name z<ldb-name>
    3.create
    4.short text
    5.create
    6. name of root node (here Ekko)
    7. enter short text (f6)
8.node type -> data base table.
    9.create
    10 change logical DB
riht click on ekko and insert node
    here node name ekpo
    11.create
    12. click on selections
    13. press no Should the changed structure of Z<ldb name> be saved first.
14.select tables which you want to join.
    15.transfer
16 now you have to o to coding part.
    17. save
    activate.
    19.click to src code
double click on first include and activate

    Hello ,
Please go through by support site :
    Use SQL Server Enterprise Manager
Note The instance of SQL Server Enterprise Manager that is included with SQL Server 7.0 does not support setting the default data directory and the default log directory. However, you can register your instance of SQL Server 7.0 in the instance
of SQL Server Enterprise Manager that is included with SQL Server 2000, and you can then follow these steps to set the default data directory and the default log directory for your instance of SQL Server 7.0.
Click Start, point to   Programs, point to
Microsoft SQL Server, and then click Enterprise Manager.
In SQL Server Enterprise Manager, right-click your instance of SQL Server, and then click
    Properties.
In the SQL Server Properties (Configure) - <Instance Name> dialog box, click the
    Database Settings tab.
In the New database default location section, type a valid folder path in the
Default data directory box and in the Default log directory box.
    Click OK.
Stop your instance of SQL Server, and then restart your instance of SQL Server.

  • Saving data in a database and publishing data to multiple clients

Hi there.  I'm using a bunch of Compact FieldPoint modules to read out a few hundred voltages, temperatures, currents, etc.  I acquire this data at about 1 Hz (pretty slow).  I would like to record this data to some sort of database on a cpu (running LV 8.0, connected to the FieldPoint mods), and serve the data to multiple (between 10 and 50) clients over the net, each running a compiled stand-alone "data grabber and viewer" application (which I'll have to write of course).  I'd like these external clients to basically be able to pick a certain variable from the database, and plot it for the last week (or something like that).  Presumably the standalone client would send some database query to the server.  The server would then send the data to the client, and the standalone client would receive the data and plot it as the user sees fit.  My question is how to implement this database?  Should I use the LabView "Database" Add-On to create a database to store the data? Is it better to just store the data as binary and write my own data fetching routine to handle queries?  How can I write this database to disk for permanent storage? Could this database be accessible outside of LabView?
Any help on this would be appreciated.  Thanks!

    Hi Jesse,
The Citadel database is not a relational database.  It's highly optimized for storing lower-rate (non-waveform) channel-by-channel, or "trace" measurement data.  Another option you can consider is using DSC and Citadel on the server then writing a utility to export the data from Citdael to an SQL database.  --That would solve the problem of having to write a logger application from scratch.  You would only have to write the relatively simple application to export the data from Citadel and import it into a relational database.
You could accomplish this two ways.  First, DSC includes a set of VIs that will retrieve historical data from Ciatdel.  You could use LabVIEW to parse this data and write it to a table in a relational database.  Second, Citadel actually includes a locally accessible ODBC interface.  (You can query Citadel using an SQL query from the local computer).  You could query Citadel using this interface, then write the result to a table in a relational database.
To view Citadel in its native format or query a Citadel database using ODBC from a remote comptuer that comptuer would need to have a licensed DSC RTS installed.

  • Is the only way to import large amount of data and database objects into a primary database is to shutdown the standby, turn off archive log mode, do the import, then rebuild the standby?

I have a primary database that need to import large amount of data and database objects. 1.) Do I shutdown the standby? 2.) Turn off archive log mode? 3.) Perform the import? 4.) Rebuild the standby? or is there a better way or best practice?

Instead of rebuilding the (whole) standby, you take an incremental (from SCN) backup from the Primary and restore it on the Standby.  That way, if, for example
    a. Only two out of 12 tablespaces are affected by the import, the incremental backup would effectively be only the blocks changed in those two tablespaces (and some other changes in system and undo) {provided that there are no other changes in the other ten tablespaces}
    b. if the size of the import is only 15% of the database, the incremental backup to restore to the standby is small
