Database access using HTML, JSP, JavaBean, & Access

I am trying to create an HTML page that a user logs into and can choose to query, add, delete or modify a specified database. I have created the HTML, the JSP, and access database but I can't figure out how to have 4 different JSP pages(one for each option) to get information from one JavaBean. PLEASE HELP

You get html to communicate with your server using forms. Use the request to retrieve the submitted form data. All you would need to do is tell your bean what it is doing, how and with what.

Jsp database access using odbc - please help

I�m trying a very simple database access program in jsp data base access using odbc. Odbc has to be used because thin driver or other drivers may not be available in every system of our college and as you know it's not that easy to make changes to those systems. My problem is so simple. I always get an exception in my program.
My jsp content is as simple as:

I initially thought the problem was with str but then str seems to be perfect and I get a string of the form �insert into reg values('c','c','c',98,'Male','c','B.Tech, Applied Artificial Neural Networks','HSC',9898,'h')� which I verified through a javascript debugger. The session scope used is to get values through the db bean from another jsp file. The problem is in the executeUpdate() line of this code. I even tried changing the updation table, but in vain. What could be done to rectify this? Please help me out and please do remember that I have no option but to use odbc.

I didn't verify the type of exception and i'm now going to do that, but then when the string is as perfect as needed, what is the need for a prepared statement? What is the basic difference between the two? And basically what is the problem with this piece of code which creates an exception? Please reply as soon as possible.

For installing JSTL, all you need are the jar files in the web-inf/lib directory.
- No entries in web.xml
- no tld files lying around
- no problems!
I think you may have a versioning problem here.
What version of Tomcat are you using?
With JSP1.2 (eg Tomcat 4), you should be using JSTL1.0. <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %>
With JSP2.0 (eg Tomcat 5), you should use JSTL1.1. <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>
Note the difference in the URIs. - the second one includes a /jsp
Currently you are using the URI for JSTL1.0, but you look to have the tld from JSTL1.1. If you are using a JSP1.2 container, I don't think it could read this tld file, hence the error.
Try installing the correct version of JSTL, properly (ie as they tell you in the readme file) and it should all work.

Accessing database Variables using JDBC

Hi,
I have a question for some of you Java specialists out there.
I want to execute a select statment in my database (SQL Server 2000) and store the output in a variable. - The reason I am not directly executing the SQL statement from my JDBC connection is that I need to execute a number of SQL statements and then finally would like to store my result set in a variable in the database - NOW, my question is , how do I (If I can) access a database variable using either servlets or JSP. Any help is welcome.

We are probably talking about different things.
ASP, at least when I used consisted of the following:
-html
-server side script (vbscript, javascript, perlscript)
-client side script (usually javascript but it could be vbscript and perlscript)
In the above you have three possible kinds of variables java, perl, vb. In each of those languages you can use SQL text to manipalate data in the database. However the text itself never ran in the ASP server nor was there such a thing a SQLscript, so there was nothing that was a SQL variable.
However, if I write a stored procedure in Oracle, it can definitely have variables. And likewise a oracle package can have variables. But there is no way to directly use those variables in ASP. The value of the variable would have to be returned to the ASP script language and a variable in tha language could contain that value.
Perhaps I just don't understand ASP or it has evolved in the last 3 years. If so then ignore everthing I have said.

Accessing the same database file using different handles/cursors

Will there be any problems accessing the same database file using different DB handles in a transactional environment? We have implemented a process which have multiple transient threads coming up and initiating DB opens and read/write operations to the same database file using different handles and cursors?
Can this potentially create any problems/bottlenecks? Can someone suggest the best way to deal with this scenario?

Berkeley DB is well suited to the scenario you describe. You need to ensure that Berkeley DB is configured correctly for transactional access, the best information describing the requirements is in the Reference guide here:

If there will be multiple threads operating concurrently, then you will need to design your application to detect and deal with deadlock situations.

Hi im trying to access my ORACLE database through a jsp program. The page loads up in the browser, no errors or anything like that, but i get no output.

Help...create database(access) using java

i had developed an java application that capture packet using Jpcap but i dont know how to keep the packet captured into database(access).i can save the packet captured in text file but not in database(access).i already had the database conectivity but i don't know how to insert the packet caputred in the table in access, is it using sql statement like INSERT INTO? or else?i realy don't know.can someone help me....?

1. commercial solution: HXTT Access(http://www.hxtt.com/access.html), which supports create database, create table sql, and batch insert data from any JDBC driver.
2. free solution: jdbc-odbc bridge and dsn-less jdbc url, you need to prepare a blank mdb file with blank table, then copy that blank mdb file into new mdb file, then repeat insert sql for that new mdb file.

I didnt tested using url, but the same works with using presentation variables.
To your direct sql add where clause for those two columns like WHERE col='@{col1}' and col ='@{col2}'
and try to run from url.

Query regarding database access segregation using os authentication in windows environment

I have a query regarding database access segragation using os authentication (like sqlplus "/ as sysdba") in windows environment.Let me briefly explain my requirement:-
Suppose you have two DBA`s viz DBA1 and DBA2 and 4 databases resideds in a windows server say A,B,C & D.Now I want to set up such a way if DBA1 logs into the server then he can login to database A and B only using OS authentication and DBA2 can login to database C and D only using OS authentication.
Please let me know how to do setup for this requirement.

1494629, I am not a Windows person but if there is any way to do this I suspect some additional information is necessary:
Are the DBA users members of the Administrators Group ?
Do all 4 database share the same $ORACLE_HOME ?
I suspect if either answer above is yes then this is not possible, but like I said I am not a Windows person. I would just ask for two servers and the associated licensing to be acquired. The requirement to spend money to do something management wants usually elimanates the request in my world.

Database access using windows authentication

We are updating our Applications to use single sign on and are running into a problem with database access. We are using CF11 Enterprise and SQL Server 2008 on IIS 7.5.
We have set up the ColdFusion Application Service to run under an AD service account and have created the data sources in CFAdmin leaving the username and password blank. The data sources verify and all seems good. The problem comes when running a query. The credential passed to the database is the service account and not the windows authenticated user. As such the query fails. What are we missing to get CF to pass the Windows Authenticated user credential instead of the service account?

ColdFusion does not pass user's credentials to the database connections by default, and cannot pass Windows Authentication credentials that way. It only sends the service account's credentials (if you leave username/password blank as you have done). The only way to pass user credentials is to put them into the individual query calls themselves, and even then you can't pass Windows Authentication credentials. You would have to use SQL Server Logins, and create accounts for each user.
I think most people are using either a dedicated SQL Server login for ColdFusion and run all queries under that account, or they do as you have already done and use Windows Authentication along with the ColdFusion service account. If you need an audit trail, then pass usernames into the insert/update queries and store them manually along with the other data you are inserting/updating.

SPShell access using cmdlet VS. database access

What's the recommend option to give SharePoint Shell Access for a user? Do I have to use cmdlet or is it safe to also directly give access through SQL management?
For example I first use the cmdlet below to grant access for my user:

the db_owner role in SharePoint 2013.

Problems in accessing Camera Roll images using HTML 5 technology

Hello,
I have developed a application using HTML 5 technology. This application is supportable to iPhone 4S. In this application, if we try to upload an image from "Camera Roll" it's not returning properly. The result image is rotated, squeezed and in different format. But this is working perfectly if we upload the image from other folders like Photo Stream.
No idea why the images from Camera Roll is not returning in proper format.
