Database Statistics.. Please Clarify.

Hi All,
Once again, I came up with one doubt which is simple. As I am not clear totally on this aspect, I have to post this simple thread to all. Request you to clarify me on the below.
Declared Dimension Sizes = [5 ]
Actual Dimension Sizes = [1 ]
Q) I have total 5 dimensions in the outline, that's true. But I didn't get exactly what actual dimension sizes trapped in the log. Please clarify me on this. Even, I found in some of the logs that there is some variance in the declared dimension sizes and actual dimension sizes. Why so?
Reading Parameters For Database [Dimdb]
Index cache size ==> [1048576] bytes, [128] index pages.
Index page size ==> [8192] bytes.
Using buffered I/O for the index and data files.
Using waited I/O for the index and data files.
Data cache size ==> [262144] bytes, [32768] data pages
Data file cache size ==> [0] bytes, [0] data file pages
Q) In this question, what is [128] index pages? As this is very simple database, I didn't get why this DB got 128 index pages. Please clarify on this.
Reading Parameters For Database [Drxxxxxx]

Index page size ==> [8192] bytes.

Data cache size ==> [262144] bytes, [32768] data pages
Data file cache size ==> [0] bytes, [0] data file pages
Q) Same question as the above one. Here, 32768 datapages. What is it?
Dear All,
I will be again thankful to one and all in advance. Please look into this patiently and give me your valuable inputs and clarify me. If there are any links or pdf's on this, pleases do forward the same to [email protected]
Regards,
Upendra.

Index pages are operating system page file sizes . Since the default value of each page is 8 kb . It makes sense . 1 kb = 1024 bytes. So 128 index pages means , 128 x 8 kb sized index cache . That means 128 x 8 x 1024 = 1048576 bytes. Your data cache is handling in bytes it self . Default is again 8 bytes. So 32768 x 8 = 262144

  • RE: Looking for some database statistics and wait event statistics

    Hi:

For 1) and 2), could you please tell us where to retrieve the above information,
    or suggest a reasonable alternative?
Have these stats been removed in Oracle 10g?
Have they been renamed? To what?
    3) We currently compute the number of additional redo logs that can be accommodated in the free space of the archive directory using the formula:
(arhive directory free space / redo log file size)
However, using ASM we find that the free space for a ASM diskgroup is being reported as zero in the table v$asm_diskgroup if the diskgroup is mounted manually. How would one go about retrieving the free space for a logical volume?

  • Database Statistics Process slowed down

    Hi Experts
The Database Statistics Process usually used to take about 2000-3000sec. Now for the past few days i am observing that the database statistic is taking 5000-6000sec.
I have checked the job logs of both the jobs, there is no difference as such.
Please let me know what could be the reason for which it is taking so much of time these days.

  • BRCONNECT for Database Statistics

    Hi,
We have oracle 9.2 database with SAP 4.6B. We use BRCONNECT (6.20) for updating database Statistics. This takes about 5 to 6 hours to complete.
    Command used = brconnect -u / -c -f stats -t all -m +I -s P10 -f allsel,collect,method,precision -p 8
Could you please help, investigating the reason for such a long run?
Also, if any OSS notes need to applied.?
Please, let me know, if additional info needed..
    Thanks,
    Sam

    Hi,
Wondering if applying <u>OSS Note - 871455</u> could resolve this issue?
Is there any other command options, to avoid unnessary data collections by BRconnect could be thought of, to reduce the long runtime?
    Command used:
    brconnect -u / -c -f stats -t all -m +I -s P10 -f allsel,collect,method,precision -p 8
    Thanks,

  • How to disable the timer job for "Database Statistics"

I want to disable the database statistics timer job using the powershell, but I cant find the exact name of it in the list of timer jobs.
    tried

I even tried to look for it in the list of timer job definitions for a web application with no luck.

    Thank you Trevor,
As per this blog (http://www.houberg.com/2008/05/16/sharepoint-database-indexes-and-statistics/) it seems like
Microsoft allows this (not explicitly though)
I ran the Health Analyzer rule  for "Databases used by SharePoint have fragmented Indexes" for all servers.
I am still seeing a lot of cluster and non clustered indexes having avg_fragmentation_in_percent
     > 60%.
    SELECT * FROM sys.dm_db_index_physical_stats (7, NULL, NULL, NULL , 'DETAILED');
I finally thought that I should rebuild the indexes to fix the issue, but please suggest if that is not the correct approach to resolve the high fragmented indexes.
    thanks
    Nate

  • How to you add a checkbox as database item please?

I am trying to add a checkbox item as database item , and when I check it e.g , that value should be saved in the database .
It's not working . I check it but in the database , the value remains unchanged . Any help please ? Thanks.

To save the value of a CheckBox to a database table, your CheckBox item should be a Base Table Item. Your CheckBox Item type should match your table's column data type. For example, if your CheckBox's Check value is 'Y' and Unchecked value is 'N' then your table's column data type should CHAR(1) or VARCHAR2(1). Also, set the Check Box Mapping of Other Values to Not Allowed if your CheckBox will only be Y or N. Now, when you save your Form, the value of the CheckBox will automatically be saved to your table.
Can you please clarify what you mean by this please ?You have updated the On-insert and/or On-update triggers with the insert and/or update statements accordingly?>
My guess is that 987583 is referring to if your CheckBox is NOT a base table item, then you would need to use the On-Insert and On-Update triggers to update your database table correctly.
It is always best to base your Block objects on Table objects. Then Forms will do most of the work for you so you don't have to write code to perform DML.
    Hope this helps.

  • Resolution to error - Unable to update Database Statistics

OK, If there's one thing i hate most about SAP, its the dreaded installation, I am always so paranoid, as to something will definitely go wrong,
Lately i realized that it aint my mind , but the damn installation itself is pretty damn stupid. Why cant SAP leave the installation packaging to professionals like installshield...
Unfortunately SAP doesnt think of it as a better idea, so until then lets try to resolve as many errors as possible thru these forums..
Here's one error resolution ,i am pretty sure, many are checking for..
Use the following procedure to resolve error
<b>Warning - "loading of sql client library oci.dll failed"
Error - Unable to update Database Statistics, Check BRCONNECT.log</b>
The problem seems to be with the SAP Patch Collection InstallMaster disc Material No.(<b>51032143_13</b>).
To resolve the problem, here's what needs to be done,
1)Install DB Instance as usual. Then after the installation errors out due to loading of sql
    client library oci.dll ..
2)I unsar the downloaded DBATOOLS.sar (Thanks for the Link Andreaz!!!)
log into sapnet (eg. service.sap.com) with your user-id/pwd:
-> downloads -> support packages and patches -> entry by application group -> additional
components -> sap kernel -> now chose either 32 or 64 bit; either unicode or non-unicode ->
sap kernel 6.40 -> windows server -> oracle -> download the package DBATOOLS Package for
Oracle 9.2.x ... brconnect is part of that package...
3)Copy the files in the Unsar'd package, as follows
         overwrite br*.exe to S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\run
         overwrite initSID.sap to S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\run &
    S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\nuc\NTI386
         overwrite libsbt.dll to S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\run &
    S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\nuc\NTI386
         overwrite sapdba_role.sql to S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\run &
    S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\nuc\NTI386
    4) Retry the installation again & Guess what!! it works....
Warning-: I initially tried a shortcut by replacing DBATOOLS.sar on the installmaster disc, rather than following above steps, but that doesnt seem to work, the installation fails as as soon as Tablespace creation starts. So the shortcut aint a good one..

Well, it looks like you resolved your problem yourself.
you can send feedback to SAP directly instead of posting this here in a forum.
