Date fields in ILEARNING database

Hi All,
I am extracting data from the attempts table in ILEARNING directly using a user created for me to access the ILEARN schema objects i.e. Users, Attempt, Offering and Content object tables.
One big problem I am faced with is getting the time portion from the dates fields in all these tables.
For example the timestamp field when queried directly at the database will only provide date of attempt. However, when you run the same SQL in ilearning it will return the time portion in addition to the date within the same field.
We are in the process of extracting our entire users and attempts data and creating a report to be ran over the ilearning client will fail as it can't handle the number of records we have particularly as regards to the attempt records.
Any help, advice and guidance will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
Have you tried formatting the datetime value in your query? Something like TO_CHAR(timestamp, 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')

    Please help me ! I am trying to store a date field in MySql databaseusing JSP on Tomcat Server.I am gettting the following error.
    I am taking the String Input and then trying to convert it into date type
    inorder to store it into date field in a database.
    I am using the following code :
    <%
    try{
    String dt=request.getParameter("avldt");
    SimpleDateFormat adt= new SimpleDateFormat("dd-MM-yyyy");
    Date sqlToday = new java.sql.Date(adt.parse(dt).getTime());

    But I am getting the following error message :
    Class jsp.myjsp.SimpleDateFormat not found.
    Please help me !!!.It's very urgent.
    Thanks,

    programming is more then copy pasting, it actually is usefull to think about what you are doing. First you declare that you date is format dd-MM-yyyy, then you want to parse a date in format dd/MM/yyyy and behold Java warns you it cannot parse the one into the second ! Cant you solve the rest of this puzzle yourself then ?

  • Update a date field in SQL database

    I am using MS SQL 2000..and .Jdbc-odbc bridge
    I have a field of type datetime...
    I am trying to update that field value...using the following code
    rs.updateDate(fieldname,java.sql.Date.valueOf(fval));
    rs.updateRow();
    where fVal is a string...
    It gives me a SQl Exception saying invalid date value..
    Can any throw any light on this...helping me to overcome my error...

    This problem is solved...I am just inserting it as a string and the database takes care of everything...Now I have problems in inserting Integer value and a ntext value..
    rs.updateInt(colname,1);
    rs.updateRow();
    This inserts a very big number like 1427560 etc into the database and second time it puts 0 to it...
    For ntext it does not do anything

  • CRVS2010 beta - Date field from database does not display in report

    Hi there - can someone please help?!
    I am getting a problem where a date field from the database does not display in the report viewer (It displays on my dev machine, but not on the client machines...details given below)
    I upgraded to VS 2010
    I am using the CRVS2010 Beta
    My development machine is Windows 7 - and so is my fellow developer's
    We are using Microsoft SQL Server 2000
    We run the queries within VS and then we send the data table to VS using .SetDataSource
    We have a few reports which display the date on our dev machines (whether we run the EXE or from within Visual Studio)
    When we roll out to the client machines (running Windows XP SP3) then everything works, except that the date does not display (on quite a few reports)
    This is the only real issue I have had - a show stopper for me
    The rest works well - any input will be greatly appreciated

  • Update date field to database

    Hi All,
    I tried to update a date field to my database by using dataprovider, however, I got the following error "java.lang.RuntimeException: Number of conflicts while synchronizing: 1 SyncResolver.INSERT_ROW_CONFLICT row 1 Can't infer the SQL type to use for an instance of java.util.Date. • SQL Query for Date field updation

    I want a query from u.. Hope u help me with a
    solution soon..
    My Q: I want to update a date field in Oracle
    database. But the condition is that i shouldnt change
    the hours, minutes & seconds of the date field.
    generally , if we update the date field then it takes
    the default values for hours, min's & sec's to
    00:00:00.
    EX : if we have a value 21-SEP-2002 04:54:44 in a date
    field. I want to update it to 22-SEP-2002 04:54:44.
    But it updates to 22-sep-2002 00:00:00 if we use
    UPDATE command.

    Use a PreparedStatement:
    PreparedStatement ps = conn.prepareStatement("SELECT * FROM TEMP WHERE TDATE > ? AND TDATE < ?");
    // note: month numbers start at 0, so 1 is february
    GregorianCalendar c1 = new GregorianCalendar(2002, 1, 11, 11, 0);
    GregorianCalendar c2 = new GregorianCalendar(2002, 1, 18, 22, 0);
    Date d1 = c1.getTime();
    Date d2 = c2.getTime();
    java.sql.Timestamp sqlDate1 = new java.sql.Timestamp(d1.getTime());
    java.sql.Timestamp sqlDate2 = new java.sql.Timestamp(d2.getTime());
    ps.setTimestamp(1, sqlDate1);
    ps.setTimestamp(2, sqlDate2);
    ResultSet rs = ps.executeQuery();

  • Date fields

    Hi,
    I am working on an Oracle database (8.1.6) and I am having problems
    with dates and I would appreciate help on the following:
    I want to use the format 'DD-MON-YY' for:
    (1)displaying date fields from a database table after querying
    the records.
    (2)inserting dates in a column in a database table. In some cases
    the dates would be entered by the user while in others SYSDATE is
    to be inserted.
    Thanks.
    null

    The DateTime Converter converts a date to java.util.Date and uses the DateFormat format. (MMM, d, yyyy)
    You may need to do some coding to get the desired format
    see http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/text/SimpleDateFormat.html
    and
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/i18n/format/simpleDateFormat.html

  • Search Page by date field not showing up results

    Hi,
    I am using Jdev 11g and new to adf.
    My applciation needs a search page based on a date field.
    I created a viewcriteria for the object which expects a date field from the user.( the bind variable is of type Date)
    After this i dragged the viewcriteria as af:query (panel with table) on the jspx page.
    Now when i run the application, that is when i enter the date (calendar autogenerated by query component),
    it does not show up any results.
    My date field in the database has a timestamp attached to it, somewhere i read that the timestamp may be causing the problem.
    But i have not found any solution for this one.
    This looks very basic to me, i am sure i am missing soemthing important.
    Besides i even tried the approach of programmaticlly populating the Viewobject(by not using the any query component),
    i can see the Viewobject being populated in the logs( the row count) but on the display page, no rows are shown.
    I am sure i am doing something wrong for this one.
          AppModuleImpl am = this.getAm();
           ViewObject submittalVO = am.findViewObject("AcrSubmittallogView1");
           System.out.println("after getting VO");
           String subDate = this.getSubDate().getValue().toString();
           String query = " to_char(SubmitDtTm,'mm/dd/yyyy') = '"+subDate+"'";
           submittalVO.setWhereClause(query);
           System.out.println("QUERY>>>> "+submittalVO.getQuery());
           submittalVO.executeQuery();
          System.out.println("after executing query "+submittalVO.getRowCount());
           this.setRenderLogTable(true);But i actually want to use the built in query component instead of programmatically doing it.
    Can someone please guide me further.
    Any help will be grt.
    Thanks in advance

    Still not working for me either, here's exactly what I'm doing.
    My query is as follows:
    SELECT
    RO.repair_line_id,
    RO.repair_number,
    SR.customer_po_number, segment1,
    trunc(RO.creation_date) as creation_date,
    I've created a Bind Variable for the creation_date as follows:
    <Variable
    Name="createDate"
    Kind="viewcriteria"
    Type="oracle.jbo.domain.Date"/>
    Which is linked to a view criteria:
    <ViewCriteria
    Name="RepairSearchVVOCriteria"
    ViewObjectName="com.services.cs.vvo.RepairSearchVVO"
    Conjunction="AND">
    <Properties>
    <CustomProperties>
    <Property
    Name="displayOperators"
    Value="InAdvancedMode"/>
    <Property
    Name="autoExecute"
    Value="false"/>
    <Property
    Name="allowConjunctionOverride"
    Value="true"/>
    <Property
    Name="showInList"
    Value="true"/>
    <Property
    Name="mode"
    Value="Basic"/>
    </CustomProperties>
    </Properties>
    <ViewCriteriaRow
    Name="vcrow1"
    UpperColumns="1">
    <ViewCriteriaItem
    Name="CreationDate"
    ViewAttribute="CreationDate"
    Operator="="
    Conjunction="AND"
    Value=":createDate"
    IsBindVarValue="true"
    Required="Optional"/>
    </ViewCriteriaRow>
    </ViewCriteria>
    I then dragged the criteria into the page. When running it I get the following:
    AND SR.customer_id =:psCustomerId) QRSLT WHERE ( ( (CREATION_DATE = :createDate ) ) )
    <ViewObjectImpl><bindParametersForCollection> [3510] Bind params for ViewObject: [com.xxx.services.cs.vvo.RepairSearchVVO]RepairSearchAM.RepairSearchVVO1
    <OracleSQLBuilderImpl><bindParamValue> [3511] Binding param "psCustomerId": 34758
    <OracleSQLBuilderImpl><bindParamValue> [3512] Binding param "createDate": 2010-02-18
    Which never brings back any data. My date's look as follows in the database:
    '18-FEB-10'
    I never get any results for the date. I've also tried using the to_char to format the date as the same format, but that always gives a variety of errors. This is driving me batty =0 Any ideas on why it never pulls back data?
    Thanks, Graeme.

    And after that apply the Transform date Function fron Date Functions and mention the source date format and the target date foramt that needs to convert into.

  • Multi select date field

    Hi,
    Is there any idea how to combine multi select DATE field in the check-in screen?
    Thanks, eran.

    Dates are stored using a DATE field in the database in a database date format. As such, multiple values can not be stored in the same field, only single values.
    What's the use case?

  • How to convert a date field with format (dd,mm,yyyy) to format (mm,dd,yyyy)

    I have text field which has a databind to a date field. When I click on it, we can select the date, it is added on the format (dd,mm,yyyy). When I want to insert this date field to a database It doesnu2019t allow me to do it because it will only accept date field on the format (mm,dd,yyyy)
    I tried to store this format on a date variable and I get a message saying that is impossible to convert a string into a date.
    Regards,
    Jose

    Hi Jose,
    usually you format strings in c# like
    string.Format("{0:yyyyMMdd}", insertyourstring);
    in your case
    string.Format("{0:MM/dd/yyyy}", insertyourstring);
    [look here|http://idunno.org/archive/2004/14/01/122.aspx]
    there are more details
    if everything fails split the string with Mid()
    or ask me

  • Insert timestamp into a Date field.

    Hi anyone knows if I insert a timestamp into a date field, will it sort according to the date field if I use an sql statement to sort the data?

    Your question is quite unclear, it sounds like you have two questions:
    1. Can I insert a timestamp into a date field (in the database?)?
    2. Can I sort my sql statement using the date field?
    Is this what you are asking? If not, please clarify.

  • Rtf field in sql2008 database doesn't export well to Adobe pdf

    In Crystal 11 sp2 and Crystal 2008 sp2 Adobe 7 and Adobe 9
    I have a rtf data field in our database and we allow text to be formatted in the application so we want the formatting to stay intact and so we store it as an rtf field.
    I put the rtf data field on the report in design mode, right click the field to ensure the text interpretation is rtf.  Preview it in Crystal and the formatting stays in tact as does the margins.  I run into problems when I try to export this report to a pdf.  The text is either truncated (which means that the field was in a left justified) or there is a 1 inch margin difference on the right hand side of the report (which means that the field was in justified)
    I have also tried testing this with an html field and had the exact same results.
    The strange thing is that I can take this same report and run it in Crystal and export it to Word and then save the Word document as a pdf and that works fine.  This leads me to believe that Crystal isn't playing well with pdfs.  The work around would be acceptable to me if I was the only one that had to do this and only had to do a report in pdf once a week.  But I have people running my reports daily and these reports go out to our customers for them to make a purchase.
    Has anyone else ran into this and is there a fix for it?
    Thanks!
