Date Format Help: DD-MON-YY
Hello everyone.
Good Day.
I would like to seek your help regarding my inquiry on the PL/SQL script output that I am trying to create.
Please see below output of my script:
L7,CU4450278,70X1W01AGA-ASY,11813,20-6æ -13,0
L7,CU4464442,747X32VH9015-ASY,3394,20-6æ -13,0
L7,CU4464766,747X22VH9015-ASY,3383,21-6æ -13,0
As you can see in the CSV output, the date has some invalid value, the "6æ " should have been Jun (i.e. Short Month format of June).
My script has this code for date dbms_output to_char(startplan_rec.str_startdate,'DD-MON-YY')
The startplan_rec.str_startdate data type is date.
I have tried querying the same table in the oracle sql developer, but i am getting the correct output (e.g. 20-Jun-13).
Please help me on having my desired date format output on my pl/sql. Why is my date output on my script incorrect?
Thanks in advance.

I was just following a certain format from a requirements that is why I am still using the YY thing.
BTW, I've heard about the Y2K thing when i was on college.
THanks,
Jeff.
Boy does that make me feel old. A few years ago I was at a workshop when a young developer expressed to me his opinion that Y2K was a hoax. His "proof" was the fact that "nothing happened after all." I had to explain to him that reason it seemed "nothing happened" is because armies of guys like me had spent two years busting our butts fixing the problem before the excrement collided with the ventilation system.
But I have code that is older than his birth certificate. -

Hello Friends,
I need to mormat my date valye to get something like the following:
Sunday December 3rd, 2006 OR
Tuesday December 5th, 2006
I understand that one can give a custom format for date as per the SimpleDateFormat symbols. However, I did not find anything for achieveing the pattern in bold
Can you please help?
Regards,
Leenaumm.. did not think about it..
I thought on it after reading your post.
My first thoughts for writing my own formatter are that I will have to extend the SimpleDateFormat class, right?
Not sure what do I do next.. :(

Data format - Help needed!!!!!
I have a String with this value:"Thu Dec 19 09:23:49 2002" ;
is there a java method to convert it automatically in another string to this format: "19/12/2002" or "12/19/2002" (it depends on italian date)
thanks all!!As dateString does not seem to be a proper Java term (unless Mr sssako knows something I do not) I would be a string.
You could do it with two instances of SimpleDateFormat, one set up for the format of the string you have and one set up for the format you want.
You then call parse() on the first one to get a date and use that date as the parameter to a call to format on the second one.
String s = "Thu Dec 19 09:23:49 2002";
SimpleDateFormat input = new SimpleDateFormat("E MMMM d HH:mm:ss yyyy");
SimpleDateFormat output = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy");
try
s = output.format( input.parse(s) );
System.out.println(s);
catch ( ParseException e )
e.printStackTrace();

Date format is not working properly for Calender value help
Hi Experts,
We have two problems.
1. We want to change the format of date displayed. We want format of dd-MMM-yy. For that we have created one Simple
Type Dictionary Object with Displaying format dd-MMM-yy. It is working
fine for the non editable UI. But once I apply the dictionary type
object as data type for an input field, probem happens. Once the user
choose a date from calender value help the value in the input field is
coming like 01-011-12 not like 01-Jan-12.
The date format is not changing from the calender. But if we set the
display format of the dictionary object to MM-dd-yy or MM/dd/yy or
dd/MM/yy or dd-MM-yy the format conversion from calender to input field
is happening properly.
The only problem once we put MMM in place of MM for the input field
where user is selecting from a calender value help.
2. We want to restrict users from entering the value manually for date input field. The user
should be able only to enter value by selecting from calender value
help.
Please give suitable solution for these problems
Thanks

>Hi Arsh,
The error message you receive i.e.
ORA-01830: date format picture ends before converting entire input string
is an Oracle error.
The following document would be helpful:
ORA-01830: date format picture ends before converting entire input string
Cause: A valid date format picture included extra data. The first part of the format picture was converted into a valid date, but the remaining data was not required.
Action: Check the specifications for date format pictures and correct the statement.

I am having trouble getting a numbers spreadsheet to hold different formats in the same column. A column with a date formatted heading will not convert to $ for the cells below. Any suggestions would help.
Hi Wayne,
Thank you for this response. I have tried this but when I start enterring $ amounts some, such as $6.00, go in OK others such as $4.00 appear as a date ie 4 Oct 12.

URGENT: Date format in Reports Giving me trouble...plz help me out
Hi guru's Can any one help me out
I
n the front end apps we are getting the date value as
BOM_SRS_DATETIME_STANDARD
Where we are entering the date value as MM/DD/RRRR HH24:MI:SS
The date format set in the company is like RRRR/MM/DD HH24:MI:SS
SO I format masked the date parameter in .RDF to RRRR/MM/DD HH24:MI:SS format.
While the actual date format in the data base is like DD/MM/RRRR HH24:MI:SS.
I checked all the old reports and the date format is like they masked the date format to company format and used the afterparameter trigger like bellow:
if :P_SENT_DATE_FROM is not null and :P_SENT_DATE_TO is null then
:P_SENT_DATE_TO := :P_SENT_DATE_FROM;
end if;
if (:P_SENT_DATE_FROM = :P_SENT_DATE_TO) and (:P_SENT_DATE_FROM is not null) then
:WHERE_SQL := :WHERE_SQL || ' AND CREATION_DATE = '||' to_date('''||:P_SENT_DATE_FROM||''''||','||'''DD-MON-RR'')';
else
if :P_SENT_DATE_FROM is not null then
:WHERE_SQL := :WHERE_SQL || ' AND CREATION_DATE >= '||' to_date('''||:P_SENT_DATE_FROM ||''''||','||'''DD-MON-RR'')';
end if;
if :P_SENT_DATE_TO is not null then
:WHERE_SQL := :WHERE_SQL || ' AND CREATION_DATE <= '||' to_date('''||:P_SENT_DATE_TO ||''''||','||'''DD-MON-RR'')';
end if;
end if;
I tried this but i couldnt get the output either.
I am pretty much confused.
Plz help me out...If you want to use a dynamic where caluse in your report query you can use a Reference Cursor using REF CUR QUERY tool in your report like this :
function QR_1RefCurDS return DEF_CURSORS.CHARACT_REFCUR is
temp_CHARACT DEF_CURSORS.CHARACT_refcur;
begin
IF :FROM_NO IS NULL AND :TO_NO IS NULL THEN
open temp_CHARACT for SELECT ACCT_CODE, ACCT_NAME

ELSIF :TO_NO IS NULL AND :FROM_NO IS NOT NULL THEN
open temp_CHARACT for select ACCT_CODE, ACCT_NAME
FROM CHARACT
WHERE ACCT_CODE=:FROM_NO
ORDER BY ACCT_CODE;
ELSIF :TO_NO IS NOT NULL AND :FROM_NO IS NOT NULL THEN
open temp_CHARACT for select ACCT_CODE, ACCT_NAME

ELSIF :TO_NO IS NOT NULL AND :FROM_NO IS NULL THEN
open temp_CHARACT for select ACCT_CODE, ACCT_NAME
FROM CHARACT
WHERE ACCT_CODE<=:TO_NO

return temp_CHARACT;

Need help in converting date format
Hi,
Need help in converting date format from 'DD-MON-YYYY' to 'YYYY-MM-DD' in an .rtf template as I believe xml publisher supports the date format as 'YYYY-MM-DD' only.
Thanks,
Raj.I got the same problem, anyone know how to solve this problem? I allready found some date functions on http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2008/09/date_functions.html . I also tried <?xdoxslt:month_name(xdoxslt:get_month(xdofx:substr(NEED_BY_DATE, 4,3)), $_XDOLOCALE), 0, 'nl-NL')?>, but then it returns a namespace error (Caused by: oracle.xdo.parser.v2.XPathException: Namespace prefix 'xdofx' used but not declared.). Anyone know how to fix this?

Please Help !!!! Problem with Date Format in JSP
Hi all,
I am getting the following date format
Sun Jun 05 00:00:00 GMT+05:30 2005
as output of the below mentioned code:
<% Date avldt=new Date(ts.parse(dt).getTime());%>
<% out.println(avldt);%>
But, I want to get 05-06-2005 instead of the above and then convert it into 2005-06-05 (YYYY-MM-DD) in order to store it into Mysql table as date field.
Please advice, what should i do for it ?
Thanks for any help in advance.
regards,
savdeep.a)To convert Date into String and back use java.util.SimpleDateFormat
b) To insert a Date in a DB you should try to use preparedStetement this allows you to use the method setDate(java.sql.Date adate) in stead of relying on your own convertion. -

hi,

I mapped this column entry in 'application-config.xml' as jdbc.column.EXPIRATION_DATE=ExpirationDate;
And when I am trying to get this value in JSP,within '<es:forEachInArray>' tag

I am getting different formatted results in different environments
Like , when I executed this in windows ,
I got the resulted string as "Mon Jul 07 00:00:00 EDT 2003" , which can be converted
to 'Date' type
using <% Date exp_date = new Date(strDate); %> which solves my problem.
But , when I executed same code to UNIX ,
I got the resulted string as "2009-02-01 00:00:00.0" , which is not convertible

I got the following exception , when I try to convert this resulted String to

<% Date exp_date = new Date(strDate); %>

Help by date format in UIX/XML
In UIX/XML I would like to indicate the date fields in the format to 'DD.MM.YYYY '. I modify the properties of my view object and entity object in the window "structure window". It does not change view for anything.
What wrong do I make?
Who can help me please !!!!Please post what version of JDeveloper you are using. Also post a small sample application that shows what you are trying to do.
I am not sure what you mean. Are you trying to display a date from the database, or have the user enter a date?
The date format is determined from the client browser locale. It will default to the US date format mm/dd/yy unless the browser locale is overridden.
If you want the user to enter a date, you should be using <dateField>. This will also expect mm/dd/yy unless you override it with a validater. Please refer to the UIX Element Reference. This documents <dateField>. The <onSubmitValidater> is a child of <dateField>, it is also documented in the Element Reference. <date> is the validater you want, it is a child of <onSubmitValidater>. You can specify a validation pattern. -
Date format not recognized -- urgent help needed
Hi,
I'm having a problem when start sqlplus in dos command window. If I start it from C:\oracle\ora81\bin, it won't started and error message showing like 'Date format not recognized' and then come back to DOS.
I do have OWB installed which also has SQLPLUS installed so that there is no problem if I start it from C:\ORACLE\owb92\bin.
For some reason, the path is setting as C:\oracle\ora81\bin before C:\ORACLE\owb92\bin so the default always goes to 81 folder.
If restart the DB instance, and this problem is gone. But it comes back after some application running (our own application and Oracle provided OMBPlus ). We double check our own application, and there is no where to "alter session ...".
Any help will be very appreciatged,
Thanks,

Do you have a file called 'login.sql' in the folder 'C:\oracle\ora81\bin'? If there is one, is there an 'alter session' command in this file?
