Date format in reply page

I don't know how long this has been going on, but I just noticed it today.
When I click to reply to a post, the date joined shows up as YY-MM-DD.
Aside from the fact that this is confusing (US uses m/d/y, many other places use d/m/y), the full readout is just easier to read.

My date of joining is 24-Nov-02 (dd-Mmm-yy) when I click reply to my own post it changes to 24/11/02 (dd/mm/yy). When I click reply to your post it seems to change from 21-Mar-03 to 21/03/03.
I guess there will never be agreement on a single format due to geographical differences but I agree that consistency is important.
Personally I always use the format dd Mmm yy in everything I do as it's clear to anyone what the date is.

  • Pages custom date format

I'm looking for a way to create a custom date format outside a Pages formatted cell. In other words, in text paragraphs, I need to be able to update the year only in a paragraph. Any ideas?

If you are looking for the capability within Pages to insert a custom date field-code like the following, outside of a table, then I am not aware of how it can be done. I used LibreOffice 4.0 to produce the following image.
When this was exported as a .docx file into Pages v4.3 on Mountain Lion, the YYYY format was replaced by a Pages date field. A right-button selection of this date in Pages offers an Edit Date & Time... menu item that produces the following panel:
There is no YYYY format customization on this panel within Pages.
It is possible to write an AppleScript service that runs from your Pages > Services menu and scans your Pages document for a date to convert to a YYYY replacement format. You may not want that either.

  • Problem in Date Format when user chages the date format in preferences

I want to generalize my code so that user can change what ever Date format he wants, I will get the date from the page in the format yyyy-mm-dd, and if the Date Format is
set to MM/dd/yyyy in prefernces i need to use MM/dd/yyyy and if the Date Format is set to dd-Mon-yyyy in prefernces i need to use dd-MMM-yy, so my question is how to know what Date format is set in the preference so that i can have all the possible date format for inserting the date
    Thanks
    Babu

    Babu,
The date format in OAF Pages is controlled by profile ICX: Date format mask. This profile can be set at site as well as user level for the individual users to set the Date format.
But I would advice not to go for setting different profile values at user level, because i remember some old threads, where seeded Oracle pages fail, as code their is not generalised to handle date formats.
If your are planning to have this in ur custom page, go ahead, but do check the entire flow is working fine for different values of this profile at user level.

  • Standard date format

    Hello,
I use jstl with sql, e.g.
    <sql:query var="results" dataSource="jdbc/my_db">
    SELECT create_date
    FROM my_table
    </sql:query>
    <c:forEach var="row" items="${results.rows}" varStatus="counter">
    ${row.create_date}<br>
    </c:forEach>the result is:
    2009-09-15
    2009-09-16
    2009-09-17
In the field create_date are date and time saved. I would like to get the result in format dd.mm.yyyy hh24:mi:ss. But I don't want to write
    SELECT to_char(create_date,'dd.mm.yyyy hh24:mi:ss')
    FROM my_table
because I have a lot of fields with a date.
Is it possible to set a default date format for the page or the webapp...?
    Could anyone help me, please?
    Claudia
    PS:
I've tried to change NLS_DATE_FORMAT on the database (ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT='dd.mm.yyyy hh24:mi:ss'), but the result is the same :-(
I've installed Linux with apache tomcat

    asking wrote:
No, I didn't know that. Very interesting!
But it's a pity. It's an easy way to show data of a simply query. It might be easy to code, but it's hard to reuse, debug, maintain, and so on.
But for all that ... If I wouldn't use jstl for the query ... it is not possible to use a standard default date format or the nls_date_format of the oracle database?
I have to pattern each column? Those two are completely independent of each other.

  • Date format issue in Custom Pages

    Hi All
I have set ICX: Date Format profile option as 31-Dec-1999 and under preferences set the date format as DD-MM-YYYY. But still in my custom pages when i fetch data and show it shows in the format YYYY-MM-DD. Could anyone please tell me is it the default mask for OAF. If so then what is the significance of setting preference format mask when it does not get reflected. Please help.
    Thanks

    Hi Sachin,
where did you set the SET COUNTRY in the layout?
It should be in the Initialization tab in the Global defnitions. Please confirm that.

    hello prithi.
You might be entering date on your page layout's date field?
so for that field you may be using F4 for date.if this is there then no prob ..but not using then use this.
OR create one MIME object using Java Script and convert there as per your need. OR in OnInputproccessing you can covert using only ABAP standard FM or by hardcode.
    its working.

  • "date format not recognised" in DBMS_SESSION, on page over db_link

    Hi,
I have an Apex 4.0 page which has a region that gets data constituted from a connection across a database link.
The host database is 11.1.0.6 and the remote database is 9.0.1. (Both Standard Edition)
    I am using EPG.
Intermittently, I receive the following error (having turned debugging on):
    Wed, 25 Aug 2010 10:21:53 GMT
ORA-20867: ORA-01821: date format not recognized
    ORA-02063: preceding line from CLIFF
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SESSION", line 157
    ORA-06512: at "APEX_040000.WWV_FLOW_LANG", line 387

    ORA-06512: at "APEX_040000.F", line 267
    ORA-06512: at "APEX_040000.F", line 294
    ORA-06512: at line 30
I'm somewhat confused as to what is causing the generation of this error.
After receiving this error, anything I else that I do that involves building 'pages' works perfectly fine. I can login/out, no problems.
However, if I try and RUN any page within my application thereafter (all of these access local DB information apart the 1 that generates the error), I continue to receive exactly the same error - no matter which page I am trying to access.
    Help?
    - Tony.

    Hi Patrick,
No. I haven't yet applied the patchset. May do that this afternoon now.
I don't believe I've manually set any date formats anywhere. Just entered the Builder with default options (apart from choosing a theme) and away I went!!
What surprises me is that the application has no problems viewing all the data. The functionality all seems fine. I had this working on a previous setup for months,. without any problems, using version 3.2. (This wasn't migrated though, this was a rebuild from scratch.)
From further "tests", the error seems to occur when I edit the page that involves the remote data.
Normally, a user would land on the page from having used a hyperlink column on a previous page's classic report region.
The point at which it all starts to go wrong is if I connect to the page as normal, but then EDIT the page, and then try and re-run it.
The problem with the date format then re-occurs repetitively, no matter which page I try and view. Sometimes pages will load some components, but then generate odd errors with others. e.g. I have a small series of 3 dial charts, all with slightly varying SQL series (same SQL, slightly different where clause). Now I am seeing that 1 may load and 2 may give odd flash errors...
Right now, I just tried to Export my application - and I still got given the date format error!! Sub-sequent retries allowed the operation to complete successfully.
The only way I seem to be able to eradicate the recurring errors is to kill all the currently connected ANONYMOUS users in the DB, and then relog to the application.

  • Date format conversion in Business Server pages

    Hi Preethi,
If you can not do it in SU01 you can do it using split .
    Something like:
    call function 'CONVERSION_EXIT_PDATE_OUTPUT'
      exporting
        input  = sy-datum
      importing
        output = gv_date.
Now you get the date in dd.mm.yyyy format .
    DATA: str1 TYPE string,
          str2 TYPE string,
          str3 TYPE string.
    SPLIT gv_date  AT '.'  INTO: str1 str2 str3 .
    concatenate str2 '/' str1 '/' str3 into gv_date .
Where gv_date is strign type or c(10) .
I tried the above code and its working fine.

I cannot open some files from at least two different friends.   the message that I get is "could not be handled because Pages cannot open files in the “data” format.”.
    I have OSX 10.9.2
I have the latest version of Pages 5.2
Any help is appreciated. I'd like to be able to open files. Thank you.

Could your friend possibly be using a Mac running OS 9?
Or one of the early versions of OSX?
They are the only Systems I know of that don't have file extensions on the files, because they used data forks in the file, something Apple eventually abandoned, in the interests of compatiblity with Windows and UNIX generally.
I had a look AmigaOS also had a form of file and resource separation, in which the main file does not have an extension.

  • Column in DATE format

    Hello Everybody
I have a report did Apex, this report has a column which data type is DATE but by default the Apex put it in the format : DD-MM-YYYY HH:MI:SS
But I only want that his column has the format DD/MM/YYYY
I know that is posible convert this field using the function TO_CHAR(date, format) but in the report I want to sort this field considering that this filed is in date data type not in char.
Also I know that I can use the function EXTRACT for concatening the day, month and year and after convert to date in the format 'dd/mm/yyyy'; but I don´t want to write many code.
I don't want to do some like this:
    TO_DATE(
EXTRACT( 'DAY' FROM DateFiled )||'/'|| EXTRACT( 'MONTH' FROM DateFiled )||'/'|| EXTRACT( 'YEAR' FROM DateFiled ), 'DD/MM/YYYY' )
Do you know how to convert to this date format (DD/MM/YYYY) preserving the format?
    I expect your prompt reply.
Any help will be very appreciated.
    Best Regards

    Hi Eric
One of the really cool features of the later versions of APEX is the ability to set a default "Application Date Format".
This is done in the Application xx>Shared Components>Definition then select the "Globalization" tab.
You can select from a list of pre-defined date formats, or enter your own.
My preference is "DD-Mon-YYYY" which is not in the list.
Just leave your date fields as regular DATE type in the select (no formatting in the select).
This Application Date Format is then used as the default for ALL dates for which you don't specifically set (another) date format
This is also selecable in the Display options of a "Date Picker (Use Application Date Format)" LOV - for any date page items that you want to provide a date picker.
This really simplifies the effort in getting a consistent look and feel - and keeping a constant standard throughout the application.
The other benefit is that you can make a change in one place, and ALL the dates (without a specific date format specification) will change format - just like that.
This is just one of the features that makes APEX the most productive - and cool - systems around.
    Enjoy!
    Mike

  • Date format and number format- need help

    Hi everyone,
I'm working with JDeveloper10.1.2, struts and uix pages.
    I have 2 problems:
1 - I have a field of type date in my uix page and the format is like this='24-Jun-2006', but I need to change this format to be '2006/06/24'.
2 - I have an attribute of type number(salary) and when I drag and drop this attribute from the DataControl Pallete and run the project, in the uix page I see a number, for example: salary = '123456', but I should see salary = '123.456,00'.
And when I write, for example '123.456,00', when I commit this value, I should see in my DataBase something like this '123456,00'.
I alredy tried to change the attribute properties in the Entity Object but without success. :(
Can anyone help me with this problems?
    Thanks,

nd when I write, for example '123.456,00', when I

something like this '123456,00'.Sorry I replied before thinking about the problem. You will not see the value in the db as such, the db will show the values differently depending on the session settings.
The values will only show up as such in the form. To see them such in the db do:
    alter session set nls_date_format='yyyy.mm.dd'
    for the date and
    alter session set nld_number_format='0.00'
    for the number

  • Date format changed (since SP8?)

Applied SP8 lately on a server. I guess since then the date format changed.
It is now April 18, 2011,
and it should be 18 April, 2011.
I am not sure if this is because applying SP8, but what is for sure that the date format is not what we used to.
Checked time zone. Regarding to `set time zone` it is proper (CET-1CEST).
    Please advise.

    Hi Marcel,
Thanks for the fast reply. I will give it a try probably.
I am still wondering what could have changed the date format.

The following TID tells you how you can replace this file.
