Date with search help

Hi,
I have to add an input field for the date on the view, but when I take it as the date navigator type, it occupies a lot of space on the view, though I want that there should be an input box and the search help attached to it as in the case of standard SAP. Please suggest how can I do it .

Issue With Search Help in Module Pool

Dear All,
I have an Issue with Search help. I have created a Module Pool Program. In this module pool, User requires the search helps for the fields.
Imagine there are 3 fields on a screen. Field1, field2 and field3.
Field2 entries depends on field1 and field3 entries depends on field1 and field2.
I have created a collective search help. and created the corresponding Ztables to maintain the search help entries.
Now I assigned the same collective search help to both the fields . i.e. field2 and field3. But when i execute the module pool program, and press F4 on these fields , the data shown is write. BUT for the 3rd field, when I select F4, The second field values are transfered to the screen, instead of third field value.
Any Idea will be appreciated .
Help me , Its very Urgent.

Custom Field in Account Assignment with search help functionality..

Hello friends,
I have added a custom field(Profit Center) in account assignment frame which is having search help also attached..
the data for search help read from R/3.. When i click the search help in WEB , I got an error message saying that 'No input help available ( Search help PRCTR_EMPTY is empty )
Any one have found this kind if issue?

Hi
You can create a custom search help (simialar to R/3 srch help for profit center) and create a corresponding search help exit for this purpose.
You need to call the R/3 table from SRM to get the required data and then map the data in to the search help fields.
Hope this will solve ur problem.

Issues with Search Helps

Hi Experts,
Anyone have any advice or suggestions for this problem?
Problem:
When running standard SAP search helps (let's say search for material by material type - from MM03) the system seems to truncate my last character. For example if I enter ERSA for material type - and look at the dynamic selection criteria all I see is 'ERS'. Thus when I run my search - no results are returned.
It is very odd behavior.
Notes:
- This occurs with standard and custom search helps
- This only occurs with search helps - other fields do not have this issue
- I recently downgraded my GUI version from 710 back to 640. Since then I have uninstalled and re-installed many times - this does not seem to help.

Why don't you try to login thru some other desktop that have SAPGui 7.10 and check whether its working or not.

Problem with search help and date fields

Dear experts,
I have two text fields and to each i assigned cacs_calendar search help.
It works well normally but if i make text box output only then i cannot select date.
I want that text box in its disabled form can be used to select date from cacs_calendar search help
that i assigned.User should not provide manual input which means fiedls should be otherwise listed in grey.

If a I/P output field is provided an attribute as output only and though search help is provided , the values in the search help list will also be in read-only mode and u cannot select them at all, may be you can solve ur problem thru different approach.
when a manual entry is done with wrong value which is not present in F4 help/search help list and
execution is done SAP will by default throw error saying invalid value

In DISP , you have to filter the records according to search criteria if there is any and finally move the records to Record_tab.
It would be something like this :

the values in Record_tab will be displayed to the user.

Populating drop down with search help

I have drop down to populated in WD,but i dont want it to be populated with the field values from ddic,instead iwant the the search help values for this field in the ddic.Say for example i have the Carrid field with values AA,BB and so on in the ddic table and in the search help d description is there like for AA->american airlines and so on .so i dont want to populate my drop down with aa,instead i want american airlines.Please advice.

1.after creating the attribute which you wanna populate in the context of your node .
2.Go to do inint method of your view and try using the code below with node and attributes which you need.

Issue with Search Help Creation

Hi All,
I need to display the match code for the Z table ZPRODUCT and the field is PRODH. The data should be retrieved from the table T179 by filtering PRODH = 'ZZ*' and STUFE = '1'. So, I am trying to create a Search Help for this requirement. But, the field ZPRODUCT-PRODH is of 5 Characters length and the field T179-PRODH is of 18 characters length. As the lengths are not matching, it is not allowing me to create the Search help. Could someone tell me if there is any way to overcome this issue?
Or is there any better approach to create the match code apart from the Search Help. Can we use the Table events for this requirements? Please share your thoughts.

               i am creating a search help for one of my inputout field of name Zabc-Formno present in my screen.
If have created a search help ZSH and assigned for that input/output field. Search help is working. My problem is in input/output field when i select a option from search help it is taking, here i want to display the details of the selcted field when i click display so the select statement tht i wrote is -
when 'display'
SELECT * FROM ZABC WHERE FORMNO = SLNO.
                    DATES = ZABC-DATES.
                    CLIENT = ZABC-CLIENT.
In place of FORMNO in select statement actually i am having (ZABC-FORMNO) in this case wht i have to do.

In your data element for slno, there should be a parameter id set up. If your parameter id is SLNO.
In the program code prior to your select:
GET PARAMETER ID 'SLNO' FIELD v_slno.
SELECT * FROM ZABC WHERE FORMNO = v_slno.

Strange Issue With Search Help

Hi Experts,
I am stuck with a search help issue, when using a certain Help for an input field on my screen i am getting a "Value help dialog canceled" cancelled error , the same search help seems to be working fine
when run from sap r/3.
I am pretty sure the design part (Attribute binding and mentioning the search help in the context ) is correct and how it should be.
Could Someone Please throw some lite on this issue.

Hi Chaitanya,
When reusing DDIC search helps in WDA, it may not always work as desired. Calls to classic screens in search help exits for example is one of the scenarios that works pretty well with SAPGUI but doesnt work with WDA.

Web dynpro ALV requirement with search help

Hello Experts,
I developed a custom transaction in Web dynpro. It has an ALV display in editable mode where the user can enter Material number, plant, quantity and Batch as input fields for Production confirmation.
There is a requirement to add a search-help to BATCH field similar to the one that appears in std. MFBF transaction. Basically what it means is that I will have to capture the material, plant of that line in ALV table and get the stock and batch details from MCHB table and provide them in search help.
I created a dictionary search help with a search-help exit FM that will extract the details from MCHB table. I am having trouble in extracting the line index to get the material number and plant values from the view to export.
Please help me as to how to extract the line index of an ALV table for which the F4 help was clicked.
Also it would be great if I could find a much simpler and better approach to handle the requirement.

Hi,
If you have set the help mode as dictionary search help in your context, and if you have defined your search help to have these importing and exporting parameters, then it will work without you doing anything else. Provided you have mentioned the name of the search help in the structure definition itself. You do not have to write explicit event handlers for dictionary search helps.
Or else, you can use an OVS search help. In that case, in the OVS event handler, you will have a parameter ovs_callback_object. Ovs_callback_object->context_element will give you the element on which the F4 was clicked. If you do a get_static_attributes on that, you will get the values of each attribute. Then you can call your function module to get the Batch field. I think OVS will suit your requirement. You can see examples of OVS in the component demo_value_help in the package swdp_demo.

A student having problem with search help.

I'm studying from a book about search help.
I have a field of a dictionary structure. From now on, I will call this field 'Field A'.
In the book that I read, it is said that if Field A refers to a check table, then the contents of the check table are automatically offered as the Field A's input help. Furthermore, if the check table has a search help, then the search help is used as Field A's input help instead of the key fields of the check table. The search help is also used as input help for any field that refers to the check table I mentioned previously.
Are the last 2 sentences true?
Curiously, I created a dictionary structure of several fields. One of the fields refers to a check table. I also created a simple screen with fields that refer to the dictionary structure I mentioned earlier to test each field's input help. When I tried the field that refers to the check table, it is true that the contents of the check table are offered as the possible values. Later, I created a search help for the check table in a way that makes me easily notice that the search help is actually used as the input help, not the standard input help of check table contents. When I tested my screen again and tested the input help of the field that refers to the check table, the shown possible values were not changed. It still used the standard input help that shows the contents of the check table instead of my search help.
Could I do something wrong or is the statements in my book incorrect?

Thank you for the help. However, there are still some doubts in me. To improve tha clarity of my question, I'll rewrite it:
Let 'CT' is the name of my check table.
Currently there are many dictionary objects that refers to CT as their check table. Therefore, the contents of CT are offered as possible values / input help of those dictionary objects.
Later, I created a search help.
Let 'SH' is the name of my search help. SH is attached to the check table CT.
Now, does this means SH is automatically used as the input help of all the dictionary objects that refer to CT as their check table,
Or
I still have to attach SH to all the dictionary objects that refer to CT in order to use SH as their input help?

Steps to replace match code objects with search helps in ECC6 upgrade

Upgrade 4.7 to ECC6, match code objects need to be replaced with search hellps.
SAP note provided by client but not understanding clearly. Can any one explain me the stelps to migrate the match code objects into search hepls.

Hi,
Migration must be done by a developer who knows both matchcodes and search helps. It's not just like a procedure that you can follow without knowledge/without thinking.
It's probably a little bit like forms (but far more simple), they often need to be "migrated from scratch"
The first important point is where to find the matchcode object/IDs -> SE11 -> Utility -> Other DDic objects. Then you'll see that are the update type, base table, etc.

Process On Value Request with Search Help Problem

I have a screen with a field that has a custom search help attached to it. I am using Process On Value-Request which ultimately uses function module F4IF_FIELD_VALUE_REQUEST to return the selected value from the search help. The value is then moved to the screen field.
THE PROBLEM: If I enter a value in a field on the screen, then use the search help from a different field the first value I entered gets cleared. Here is a code sample. Any suggestions as to why this is happening?

Help needed with search help with ina search help

Hi all,
i have a field fld1 (non primary key )and to the dataelement of that field a search help is assigned in table ztable1.
That search help is referring to a table in which fld1 is primary key in ztable2.
I have created another search help with all the fileds in ztable1 and iam using this search help in a selection screen returning another field say fld2.
in this search help i have drill down for fld2, which in turn gives the fields of ztable2.
This is working fine.
i have created another search help with the fields of ztable1 but this time its its returning the value of fld1. for some reason in this search i am not able to see the drill downn for fld1 .
can anyone tell me how to get the drill down even the import parameteris fld1
