Day Wise Depreciation Calculation Issue

Hi Team,
I have an issue regarding day wise depreciation calculation. I have selected Dep for the Day check box and it is calculating day wise depreciation but here it is taking as 366 days for base it should be 365 days (2011 is we have only 365 days) do ineed to change any settings from Asset accounting side? Entire year wise depreciation is correct but if i see month wise there is small difference due to 366 days. How can i control this setting?
Regards,
Nagaraju

Hi,
2012 is a leap year.  Therefore 366 days.

  • Depreciation Calculation Issue

    Asset Accounting Gurus,
We have 2 depreciation areas active in our system for assets created from AUC: D1 (straight line method) and D2 (declining balance method). D1 posts to general ledger while D2 is for reporting purpose.
As per the way of working followed in the company, the depreciation start date for the area D2 is kept as the date when the first expense was posted on the AUC.
For example even though the capitalization date for an asset A1 is 03-May-2007, the depreciation start date for the depreciation area D2 is 03-Jul-2006, the date of the first posting to the AUC. The depreciation for the period Jul-2006 to Dec-2006 (6 months) is seen as a value adjustment in the asset value for the year 2007 (transaction AW01N). However, the system is not calculating the depreciation for the year 2007 correctly. Please see the figures below:
    For year 2007:
    APC value = EUR 3,957.90
    Depreciation start date = 03-Jul-2006
Asset is created from AUC on 03-May-2007 = Capitalization date
    Depreciation key = BE20 = Decl. bal.(x 2.0) 40% max
    Useful life = 6 years
    Value adjustment = Proportional depreciation from previous fiscal year = 3957.90 * (1/6) * (2) * (1/2) {because it is for 6 months from Jul-06 to Dec-06} = EUR 659.65 (correctly calculated by SAP)
As per our calculation, depreciation for current year should be = (3957.90-659.65)(1/6)(2) = EUR 1,099.42.
However, system is calculating a depreciation of EUR 641.33 which is depreciation for 7 months (1,099.42*(7/12)).
Why should system behave in such a way?
It may be noted that for a similar asset capitalized on 30-Jan-2004 but whose depreciation start date is kept as 03-Nov-2003, SAP is calculating values as expected. In other words, the value adjustment amount that is viewed in the asset master for the year 2004 is correctly calculated for 2 months (Nov-03 and Dec-03) and the depreciation for 2004 is correctly calculated for the whole of 2004 and not taking into a/c the capitalization date of 30-Jan-2004.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sameer S. Gupte

    Hi Ali,
If your FY end date and legacy asset transfer date is 30.06.2009, then it seems like you are uploading your assets and their values as on your curr FY start date only.
But if you would have maintained your legacy asset transfer date as 30.09.2009, it means that you are transfering your legacy assets during curr FY.
So whenever you are transfering legacy assets during curr FY, you need to maintain the last dep posted period also along with the legacy asset transfer date. ( This setting is located very next to the trasnfer date setting in IMG)
If you have specified your last dep posted period as 03-2009, then system will calculate the dep for 9 months only for that FY.
    Please check.
    Thanks,
    Srinu

    Hi All,
In indian scenario for plant and machinery straight line depreciation, my SLM rate is 4.75%
When i maintained the shift factor as 2 and my variable portion as 56.2105 and got 7.42 as the depreciation which is correct
But when i maintained shift factor as 3 and my variable portion as 58.8421, in a subsequent month, my depreciation is getting calculated as 10.465 where as it should be 10.34.
In my understanding the system calculates the depreciation per interval given as below
Depreciation rate*fixed portion + Depreciation rate * variable portion?

  • Dep calculation issue on settelment of asset for pm order

    Hi,
When I am trying to settele the asset for pm order it is starting the depreciation from the next day of settelment. But when I am craeting the asset for the same asset class & posting the values from FI it is calculating the depreciation from the same day of expense booking. Why it is not calculating from the same day when it is through pm order.
Help me to resolve the iisue.
    Cheers.

    Hi Blaz,
Thanks for your reply. Whatever you say is right.
My issue is i am creating assets in one asset class. And when-
    1. Asset capitalization value is posted by f-90 say on 31.03.2009, system calculates the dep from 31.03.2009 ( Dep is day wise)
    2. For asset in the same asset class with same dep key and other values when I post values by settling the PM order ( Say on 31.03.2009) system starts dep from 01.04.2009.
I am not able to analyze why for same parameters assets depreciation calculation is differing by a day.
    Thanks

  • Daywise Depreciation Calculation

    Dear All
I have to do daywise calculation of depreciation.
The system is calculating the same for the whole month despite the fact that Asset is being capitalized on the date lying in the mid of the month.
Eg. If the date of Ordinary Depreciation start is say 19th January, than the system must calculate the depreciation for remaining 13 days of January. Rather than doing this, depreciation is being calculated for the whole month of January. We want it to be calculated exactly at the day level. What should I do for this?
    Thanks and Regards
    Diwaker Sharma

    hi Satish,
start transaction AFAMA, double click the depreciation key, you want to change to and there is a checkbox 'Dep. to the day'. Tick that checkbox and the depreciation will be calculated day wise.
    hope this helps

  • Depreciation calculation

    Dear All,
Our depreciation policy is to depreciate asset from the day of purchase till the day of sale (day of disposal is also included). We are following daily convention basis for 365 days i.e the depreciation is calculated on daily basis with straigh line method. Now we are facing issue system is not calculating the depreciation on the day of disposal otherwise all depreciation calculation is correct please suggest in this regard.
    Regards
    Naveed

The problem with the @SLN function is that it only works across the dimension tagged as "Time". Planning apps typically have a separate year and period dimension, so this function doesn't help us much. You basically have to create your own depreciation calculation.
To do this, create a moving sum using the @MOVSUMX function (using the TRAILSUM option). Then divide this moving sum with the depreciable periods (which will obviously vary by asset class).
You can only do this for "new" assets. Most fixed assets systems can feed you the projected (future) depreciation on "existing" assets. Then you can add your depreciation on new assets (that you've just calculated) to your depreciation to existing assets to get total depreciation.
    Hope this helps,
    - Jake

  • Stock Ledger Report in Day Wise not giving correct values for Opening Stock

    Dear Experts,
I m working on Sock ledger report to give the day wise data.
since yesterdays closing Stock will become opening stock of today,
    To get Opening Stock,
I have restricted the stock key figure with 2 variables on calday
(DATE FROM var with <=(Lessthan or equal to) and offset -1
DATE TO      var with <=(Lessthan or equal to) and offset -1)
    To get Closing Stock,
I have restricted the Stock key figure with 2 variables on calday
(DATE FROM var with <=(Lessthan or equal to)
DATE TO      var with <=(Lessthan or equal to) )
But in the output Opening stock values are not coming correctly and for given range of dates,
for last date, opening stock is showing as Zero.
Could you please tell me how can I achieve the correct values for opening stock.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Arjun,
Seems like you are making it more complicated. What is your selection screen criteria?
Ideally you should only use the offset.
You will have say Calday in rows and stock in Column
    ____________Opening Stock_____________Closing Stock
    01/06/2009___(Closing stock of 31/05/2009)_(Stock of 01/06/2009)
    02/06/2009___(Closing stock of 01/06/2009)_(Stock of 02/06/2009)
    03/06/2009___(Closing stock of 02/06/2009)_(Stock of 03/06/2009)
So, from above scenario, create one RKFs and include Calday in it. Create a replacement path variable on calday and apply the offset as -1.
So, your Opening Stock will be calculated by closign stock of previous day.

  • Indian Income Tax Depreciation Calculation

    Hi
Can any of you please explain/tell me where are the exact SAP configuration settings for the calculation of depreciation calculation as per Indian Income Tax Act by meeting below requirements as per Section 32 of Indian Income Tax Act:
    1. If the Asset is being purchased and used in a Financial Year for 180 Days or below 180 Days  -  Depreciation has to be calculated 50% of Annual Depreciation.
2.If the Asset is being purchased and used in a Financial Year for more than  180 Days   -  Depreciation has to be calculated 100% of Annual Depreciation.
    Waiting for your valuable reply.
    Thanks and Regards
    P.V.S.R.Gupta

But if I follow your suggestion of taking Period Control Method 04, it would calculate 1/2 Year Depreciaton only
No.  If the asset is in use for >180 days, then it's acquisition date must therefore occur in periods 1-6 which will set the depreciation start date to the beginning of the year.  This will result in a full year's worth of depreciation.
If the asset is in use for <180 days then the start date is set to mid year which results in only 6 months worth of depreciation to be posted.
All of this can be adjusted per your FYV and on a yearly basis if the FYV is year dependent in the asset period control calendar assignments table.
I'll be the first to admit that I don't know the statutory requirements of India but I know how FI-AA works and can't think of an alternative solution for you.

  • Depreciation calculation for Indian Tax Depreciation Area - Fixed Assets

Can any one of you kindly advice how to setup the Multi levels methods and Period controls for Tax Depreciation key in Indian Tax Depreciation area.
My Leading ledger Fiscal year: Jan u2013 Dec (Year dependend)
And Non-leading ledger (India) Fiscal year: April u2013 March (Year dependend)
I was able to post correct depreciation for leading and non-leading ledger Depreciation areas with a stated percentage. But the calculation of Tax depreciation area is incorrect.
As per client requirement, Tax depreciation area is setup only reporting purpose and no Depreciation posting.
Required Depreciation Calculation for Tax Depreciation Area:
    For Acquires & Additions,
    Rule1:
If it is >=180 days (as per Non-leading ledger Fiscal year) the system should calculate depreciation as stated percentage. Eg: 10%
    Rule2:
If it is <180 days (as per Non-leading ledger Fiscal year) the system should calculate depreciation of 50% on stated percentage. Eg: Stated percentage is 10%, then it should be 5%.
    Early responses will be appreciated.

  • AW01N  Depreciation calculation

    Hi All,
We have a requirement on Calculation of tax depreciation for countries US & CA(Canada).
We are using 2 depreciation areas :  10   -     MACRS
                                                                11  -     AMT .
The total acquisition amount is divided as special & ordinary depreciation. ex : total acquisition : 2000.  half will go to special depreciation : 1000 and remaining half will go to ordinary dep : 1000.  If the asset life time is 3 years, the ordinary depreciation amount (1000) has to be distributed to 3 years and has to depreciate accordingly. For these we have to calculate period-wise depreciation. how to calculate depreciation period-wise as in AW01n it showing year-wise depreciation..
All the other depreciation ares : 01(Book) & 31(Group) are showing in the table ANLP up to current year. But these dep.areas (10 & 11) are not showing in ANLP table.
Plz help me if anybody knows the process.
