DB_ENV- set_rpc_server and the "CLIENT" type

Working in the python bindings, I have found "DB_ENV->set_rpc_server()". It has an optional parameter of type "CLIENT". Where is "CLIENT" defined?.

CLIENT is part of the underlying RPC interface. See the manual page for "clnt_create" on most Unix systems for that documentation. Setting this parameter can give applications some more control (particularly over the communication protocol used to connect to the RPC server).
In almost all cases, C applications pass NULL for the CLIENT parameter and allow Berkeley DB to create it internally. We have not exposed this parameter in other language APIs (e.g., Java or Perl).

RDS 2012 - Slow Perforamance, random disconnects - The RDP protocol component X.224 detected an error (0) in the protocol stream and the client was disconnected.

We have an RDS environment configured on server 2012 with approx. 20 users connecting for remote app utilization across 4 different locations that are connected via VPN. Server 2012 has great resources from the virtual host so system resource allocation
shouldn't be an issue. I'm thinking these errors are correlating with the performance problems. Any recommendations on how to effectively end these errors or to boost performance?

Do you have any progress at the moment?
Regarding the TLS error code 49, it indicates a valid certificate was received, but when access control was applied, the sender did not proceed with negotiation.

EEWB : how to determine the business object and the extension type ?

Hi,
I ask myself how to determine the business object and the extension type to use to add new fields in a new tab of a specific transaction ? what means each business object, does that correspond to a specific transaction ?
I need to add a new tab in the BaMI business activity in transaction CRMD_ORDER just after the tab 'Actions' at header level.
Could you help me please to determine which business object and extension type I have to select during creation of the project and which business object category I have to select during creation of the extension (wizard) ?

In order to determine what type of transaction you are extending, you will need to look at the customizing for the transaction.
In the IMG:
Goto:
Customer Relationship Management->Transactions->Basic Settings->Define Transaction Types.
You will then choose the transaction defined that you want to extend. If you display the details of the transaction you will find an attribute called:
"Leading Transaction Category". This tells you the general context in which the transaction is used. The other item to view is the assignment of business transaction categories found in the maintenance screen.
This information general corresponds to one of the options that the EEWB will give you on the transaction type.
As far as extensions go, my recommendation is the following:
- Use CUSTOMER_H Customer Header Extensions for any new fields at the header level.
- Use CUSTOMER_I Customer Item Extensions for any new fields at the item level.
Unless you have a specific requirement to extend a segment of the transaction, I recommend placing all new fields in these segments. The CUSTOMER_H & CUSTOMER_I segments are considered "standard" segments, that are already built into all the necessary API structures.

Hi Susan. I hope there's a better 'fix' coming to replace this "uninstall the updates, restore, then reinstall the updates after the restore". This kind of workaround requires that all of us remember that there's a problem
with KB3023562 and KB3004375 from now until the end of WS2012E. Not sure I'll remember this 6 months from now when the problem crops up during a restore. -:(

In my system MS Office 2007 is installed. I am trying to generating excel sheets from JSP page by setting the content type "application/vnd.ms-excel" in jsp page and as well as in web.xml file. I am getting the below message

Then finally the excel file is opening and displaying properly. If in my system MS Office 2003 is installed , then the above message is not coming.

Apex_web_service.make_rest_request: Passing parameters and the content type

Not sure if I am missing something, but should this API be setting the content type (to application/x-www-url-formencoded) when there are values present for the parameters p_parm_name and p_parm_value.
The example in the docs is to a yahoo API. I'm not sure about that particular one (see: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21676/apex_web_service.htm#BABEDJHJ), and I think it requires an appid (yahoo account), so i just went with the example here:

I do note a key difference is that content type isn't being set in the web service API.
This was just to test a public service. I do note that the above has slighty different request data (percentage encoding on some chars). However, I experienced the same behaviour on a procedure I had written (I can also provide this example test case if you like), which is where I first noticed the issue.
Using utl_http and setting the content type to application/x-www-url-formencoded, does resolve the issue. However, just thought i'd see the possibility of using the Web service API that is made available.
Is the example in the docs valid, or am I missing something obvious?
This is on ApEx 4.1 on the OTN Dev Days VM.

Using Calendar client version 4.6 on Unix to connect to Calendar Server 4.0, I get a core dump and the client does not launch

I am using Communicator Pro with Enterprise Calendaring, Calendar client 4.6,
and when I attempt to launch it I immediately get a core dump and it does not
launch.

The 4.6 motif client is not able to run against the 4.0 Calendar Server.
It is strongly recommended that you use the 4.61 motif Calendar client (bundled with the 4.7
Communicator Pro release) or 4.51/4.52 against Calendar Server 4.0. There are
known problems when going offline while using the 4.5 client on any platform
against the 4.0 Server. Both the 4.51 Windows and the 4.52 motif clients have
repaired this problem.

Hi! I'm setting up a mail server on a virtual server (VMware Fusion 2.0.5) and I've a lot of problems. how to set up a mail account with the workgroup manager?? I create accounts but it doesn't appears on Server Admin in the mail service. And how to configure the email for an account ?

Q1: How complex can a web service schema be?
Q2: Is it reasonable for a schema to contain derived types by extension [1]?
Q3: Could you use the International Purchase Order Schema [2] with a web service?

If I am interpreting Section 4.1.15 of the BasicProfile-1.0a [3] correctly, this
appears to be appropriate in certain circumstances.
Q2: When is it appropriate to use the xsi:type attribute? If a schema contains
derived types by extension [1]? If a schema contains xsd:anyType?
Q3: How does using the xsi:type attribute affect interoperability?
And finally,
Q4: Are there any examples available demonstrating the use of the xsi:type attribute
in messages?

Detect the clients type of printer, either laser or dot matrix

Is there a way to obtain the clients printer whether it is laser-printer or a dot matrix?
I will appreciate any answers, sample programs, & suggestions. Thank you.

The ("Windows side" of an) Intel Mac would act in the same way a PC (without a built-in parallel or serial port) does. You would need an appropriate USB to (usually) parallel adapter. With the new hardware added, you would choose the printer in Windows. Printing is then possible from within a program running under Windows.
Normally, a dot matrix printer is used only for special purposes (e.g., for multiple copy forms). If this is not the case, there are alternatives. I can understand if you do not wish to use an inkjet printer, but a (black and white) laser printer would probably be a much better solution. Many laser printers (USB and/or network models) work with both Mac OS X and Windows.

Oracle JDBC driver and the object types cache

Oracle JDBC Developer's Guide and Reference says (version 11gR1):
Oracle JDBC drivers cache array and structure descriptors. This provides enormous performance benefits. That is the problem we are having here... We have web services deployed to WebLogic server that use custom object types. Every time we have to change an object type definition the web services stop working (the error ORA-00902: invalid datatype is raised) and the only solution is to restart the JDBC data source which is quite disruptive to the development process.
Is there a workaround to disable that "feature"?

Well specifically you have to restart the pool because you were USING the object that changed.
And I am rather certain that you can turn off the pool entirely.
Even in production, I reckon that this may have a negative impact. For instance, say that you need to deploy a hot fix for a bug in one application that involves the re-creation of one single object type. This means that the whole JDBC pool, which may be used by other applications, may have to be shut down just because of that single object.Good point.
I suggest you stop using complex objects in Oracle. I suspect that would eliminate the problem completely.

The protocol is the string that goes before the "://", so for files it would be "file".
Your guess for mpegs is correct, and you can check MIME types here.

Pretty much any number or a space character. Punctuation does too, in theory, but I'd advise to limit it to hyphens and underscores. Periods are OK in the middle of file names but you won't be able to start a file name with one at the Finder level since that would actually hide the file.
