DB6CONV Online table move

Hi all,
    We used SAP standard report DB6CONV to move some tables from one tablespace to another in ECC 5.0.
    When all steps have finished following the SAP Notes 362325 and no errors occur, what make me confuse is that the table which has been moved still show in the old tablespace in SAP system using Tcode DB13, but we go to DB level we found this table has reside in the new tablespace.
    We use the latest version of DB6CONV 4.08 and do online table move.
    Should it like that?  Can somebody clarify my confusion? Thank you very much!
    PS: SAP NW640, DB2 8.2.2, AIX5.3
Best Regards,
Terry

Hi Terry,
For SAP table spaces historical information, they are collected by a standard SAP background job.  Just wait patiently until that job is run for the information to be updated.
To check whether your table actually resides in the new table space, you can go to se11, technical setting, to check the data class.  Your moved table should be residing in the data class that associated to the target table space.

  • Problem with DB6CONV online table move

    Hello,
    I tried to schedule a few concurrent online table move using DB6CONV (version 4.08, on NW07 SP17, DB2 9.5), and I got the error message below in two of the table move sessions:
    20090917 174517 ONLINE CONVERSION: Start of Step 1 (INIT)
    20090917 174517 CALL SAPTOOLS.ONLINE_TABLE_MOVE( 'SAPBD1', '/BIC/AZGL_D00600',
                      'BD1#ZDGLAD', 'BD1#ZDGLAI', '', '', '', 'INIT' )
    20090917 174518 ONLINE_TABLE_MOVE - INIT step aborted.
    20090917 174518 SQL0443N  Routine "*BLE_MOVE" (specific name "") has returned an error

                      "SAPTOOLS.ONLINE_TABLE_MOVE" already has a ".  SQLSTATE=42889
    20090917 174518 Step 1 aborted with errors
    I then chose "Continue" on one session alone, it completed successfully.
    If this is a problem when running DB6CONV online table move in parallel? Is there any way to fix this problem?
    Thanks,

  • Shell script for online table redefinition

    Hi,
    Could someone help me out in building a script for online table redefinition in AIX 11g, moving the table into a new table space.
    Thanks

    You are embarking upon a voyage in which you will expend a substantial effort reinventing the wheel.
    Look at Oracle DBMS_REDEFINITION built-in package.
    http://www.morganslibrary.org/reference/pkgs/dbms_redefinition.html
    and never do something outside the database, in a proprietary language, that can be done far more efficiently inside the RDBMS in a platform independent language.
    In other words, inside the database, I could code your entire project with error handling, in far less than an 15 minutes including testing.
    With a simple DDL statement, issued at the command prompt in SQL*Plus ... I could do it in less than 15 seconds: Your choice.
    ALTER TABLE <table_name> MOVE TABLESPACE <new_tablespace_name>;

  • Sql Developer MSSql Migration, Online data move, image to long raw mapping

    Hello,
    my task is to migrate a MSSql Server Database to Oracle 10.2.0.4 with SQL Developer Version 2.1.1.64
    and JTDS JDBC Driver oracle.sqldeveloper.thirdparty.drivers.sqlserver 11.1.1.58.17.
    Capture, convert and online data move works except data mapping from MSSql image to Oracle long raw dataype.
    I need to map MsSql image to oracle blob, to achieve online data move!
    is Sql Developer online migration MsSql image to oracle long raw possible?
    I know that long raw is outdated, but i'm dba and not responsible for the software part.
    What options should i try? offline data move? can MS Bulk Copy Program export image data and SQL*Loader import into long raw?
    Any experience or tipp?
    Thanks
    Michael

    Hi user12132314 ,
    I do not see any 'long raw' options on our current SQLServer 2005 data type mapping. (Raw is a separate 2000 byte data type).
    The usual route for SQLDeveloper is to go to Blob.
    Online - this is simple & automated.
    Offline - this actually goes via hex output in bcp to sqlldr, read in as CLOB which is then encoded to blob. (This is automated)
    (Online 'Copy to Oracle' option, right click on table, may be of use if advanced features not included in the select such as defaults are not required, it copies over a select * from table, including blobs)
    To move you from blob to long raw after migration can be done (easily enough if Oracle database >=10g so the stream does not have to be in smaller 'chunks')
    http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:3938270166267830::::P11_QUESTION_ID:702825000306
    I can look into this if you want to go down this route.
    Note however that long raw has drawbacks and blob is preferred, see
    Oracle® Database SQL Language Reference
    11g Release 2 (11.2)
    Part Number E17118-04
    Data Types

    for example one restriction is:
    A table can contain only one LONG column.

  • SQL developer online data move

    Hi,
    I am using SQL developer 2.1 to migrate tables from Sybase 12 database to oracle 11g.
    I have used online data move option for moving sybase data into oracle tables, but even after data move is completed not all rows have been moved from sybase tables to corresponding oracle tables. Some rows are missing but still there is no error messege being displyed, how to find out what's going wrong.
    Is there any log file that is being generated in case of oracle sql developer?
    Please help me with this.

    Hi Mandark,
    This is a weakness of SQL Developers online datamove.
    It doesn't have logging and you cannot tweak the data move itself.
    It very basic SELECT * FROM -> INSERT INTO ... under the covers.
    If some rows are failing to be inserted,but some rows are being inserted, in the same table.
    Then my guess is that the data in some rows doesn't "fit" into the target row/column.
    And the datatype mapping used to convert the tables/columns was not good enough.
    Ex: Sybase column of VARCHAR(10000) mapped to Oracle VARCHAR2(4000).
    Some data which is greater than 4000 chars.
    Which causes the insert to fail for those rows with >4000 chars. But ok for other rows.
    The solution (in this example) is to map Sybase VARCHAR(100000) to Oracle CLOB.
    You can specify the data type mapping in the Convert page of the migration wizard.
    Another workaround is to use Copy To Oracle.
    http://dermotoneill.blogspot.com/2010/11/copy-to-oracle.html
    This is a very simple data move feature again. But it works slightly differently than Online Data Move.
    It has no logging or tweaking either, but may do the job "online" for you.
    You should temporarily turn off any check constraints, triggers, keys on each table you want to move data with using this method.
    If all those fail, then the only sure fire way would be to use Offline Data Move.
    Regards,
    Dermot

  • ONLINE TABLE REDEFINATION

    Hi All,
    One of the production table which has 5500 extents but it does not have any data in it and its slowing down our application(Its an Advance Queue table).
    It is recommended by the application that we recreate this table and they have a script for that.
    I want to do it online without any downtime for the application.
    Can I reorganize this table online.
    Regards,
    Umair

    As far as I know your table will be locked during the ALTER TABLE MOVE. So there will be no insert/update/delete possible during this operation.
    If your table is realy empty you may simply execute a TRUNCATE DROP STORAGE
    If you are using 10g you may also have a look at ALTER TABLE SHRINK.

    UDA_ITEM_FF 36.07 328 89 291.93
    after the alter table move..
    TABLE_NAME ACTUAL_SIZE_MB CUR_SIZE_MB FRAGMENTATION PROJECTED_SAVINGS_MB

  • Images in Table move on Mouse Over

    I made a simple table-based photo gallery.
    On mouse-over, a coloured bar appears at the bottom of the selected image.  At the same time the image moves upwards slightly, presumably the same distance as the width of the coloured bar.
    Depending on the position of the image within the table, either one or more rows within the table move at the same time.
    I received some feedback from a viewer that they do not like this movement of the table
    Can you suggest any way to make the table more stable, i.e. remain still during mouse-over.
    See: http://www.eyta.org.uk/photos.html

    First, I don't like table-layouts.  They're last century's layout approach.  Nobody uses table-layouts anymore.  We use CSS floats now.
    Photo Layout example:
    Alt-Web Templates :: CSS Semi-Liquid, Photo Proof Sheet
    Secondly, if you're adding a border on hover, you need to add similar same sized border for the non-hover state.  Otherwise the jumping is inevitable owing to how the CSS box-model works.
    Example CSS:
    a {text-decoration:none; border-bottom: 1px solid #FFF}
    a:hover {border-bottom: 1px solid #000}

  • Online Table redefinition(partition maintenance) in 10g

    Hi,
    I would like to know more about the 10g feture of online table redifinition. I am specifically looking for removing the partition or adding new partition to the the exisitng table while the sessions are accessing the table. Can you please guide me on this.
    Thanks
    Anand

    I recommend you writing procedure for
    appending paritions
    dropping partitions
    from existing partition tables.
    Here is simple example of dropping partitions, remember, you should drop only when parition is no longer used by application. Similarly you can write pl/sql to append partitions
    DECLARE
    v_msg VARCHAR2 (200);
    v_table VARCHAR2 (30);
    v_partiion_cur VARCHAR2 (200);
    v_sql VARCHAR2 (200);
    CURSOR table_cur
    IS
    SELECT DISTINCT table_name
    FROM user_tab_partitions
    Where <your condition>= criteria;
    -- reteriving partition qualified for being dropped ; pass retention period
    CURSOR partition_date_cur (i_table_name IN varchar2
    IS
    SELECT TO_DATE (TO_NUMBER (SUBSTR (partition_name, 9, 10)),
    'YYYYMMDDHH24'
    partition_date,
    partition_name,
    tablespace_name,
    table_name
    FROM user_tab_partitions
    WHERE table_name = i_table_name
    AND TO_DATE (TO_NUMBER (SUBSTR (partition_name, 9, 10)),
    'YYYYMMDDHH24'
    ) < (SELECT TRUNC (SYSDATE)
    - (SELECT VALUE
    FROM some_retention_period_conf
    WHERE code = 'RETENTION_PERIOD')
    FROM DUAL);
    BEGIN
    -- some logging message
    OPEN table_cur;
    FETCH table_cur INTO v_table;
    CLOSE table_cur;
    FOR partition_date_rec IN partition_date_cur (v_table)
    LOOP
    v_sql :=
    'ALTER TABLE '
    || partition_date_rec.table_name

  • Small problem in table move

    The base table was created in a DMT and all the partitions were created in LMT.
    Now i want the table also to be in LMT.
    When attempted a move with alter table tablename move tablespace it's giving an error.
    SQL> ALTER TABLE HOLDINGDBO.POSITION_STAGE MOVE TABLESPACE HOLDING_GEN;
    ALTER TABLE HOLDINGDBO.POSITION_STAGE MOVE TABLESPACE HOLDING_GEN
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-14511: cannot perform operation on a partitioned object.

    ORA-14511: cannot perform operation on a partitioned object.Of course it can't. The move clause targets a segment. Alas, the top level object (table) here, does not have any segment. Hence you can't move a partitionned table as a whole.
    Instead just look at the alter table move partition statement in TFM.
    e.g.:ALTER TABLE HOLDINGDBO.POSITION_STAGE MOVE PARTITION POS_OLD TABLESPACE HOLDING_PTS_OLD;Regards,

  • Reg alter table move statement

    Hi friends,
    I am having a table with 10GB. i moved the table to the same tablespace using "alter table move" statement.
    previously my tablespace had 6 GB freespace. To move the table i resized datafile to increase freespace in tablespace.
    after moving, my table size reduced to 8GB. now i want to reduce the datafile size to 6GB again. but its throwing error
    ORA-03297: file contains used data beyond requested RESIZE value
    Can't i reduce the datafile size to 6GB again?
    thanks in advance

    resize will not released space below the high water mark.
    The simpliest way how to proceed in this case is to move all tables to the new tablespace and drop the original including datafiles. And rename new tablespace back to the old ones name if You want.

    Hi,
    Please refer following link :
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_tech_note09186a00807347ab.shtml
    CAM
    —All Catalyst switch models use a CAM table for           Layer 2 switching. As frames arrive on switch ports, the source MAC addresses           are learned and recorded in the CAM table. The port of arrival and the VLAN are           both recorded in the table, along with a timestamp. If a MAC address learned on           one switch port has moved to a different port, the MAC address and timestamp           are recorded for the most recent arrival port. Then, the previous entry is           deleted. If a MAC address is found already present in the table for the correct           arrival port, only its timestamp is updated.

    Hi,
    you are working with a percentage width of your tables, for example:
    table width="123%
    td width="75%"
    td width="25%"
    So it is simply a arithmetic problem to get the proportional wide (means the ratio of % to cm) of your images, so that they do not break the frame. Certainly you could use (translated from German DW) "properties" and change the sizes there:
    Hans-G.
