DBMS_DATAPUMP - "Push" over network link???

I am aware that you can pull, say, a schema refresh over a database link, such as:
DB1 <- DB2
... and you're executing DBMS_DATAPUMP like:
in DB1 - OPEN, METADATA_FILTER, METADATA_REMAP, START_JOB
(network link to DB2)
I will refer to this as a "pull;" DB1 is refreshing a schema FROM DB2.
However, we are going through an isolation process where one environment (DB2) can talk to another (DB1), but only in one direction (DB1 cannot talk to DB2). The refresh of a schema will need to be PUSHED from DB2 to DB1, instead of pulled.
Is there a way this can be done simply with DBMS_DATAPUMP? It seems that one can only accomplish this by means of a "pull", and there is no option to "push" between 2 databases.
Thanks.

Hi,
Nothing in Data Pump will allow you to 'push' over a network link. I think the only way I can think of to get your information over would be to do a dumpfile export and then push the dumpfile over with an operating system copy "ftp" type of command.

  • Import Data over network link in oracle 11g

    We want to take export of the OND schema in production database and
    import it to the OND schema in UAT database over a network
    link by using data pump,in Oracle 11g.Kindly share the steps.

    Scenario:
    Directly importing the TEST01 schema in the production database (oraodrmu) to test database oraodrmt, over
    a network by using database link and data pump in Oracle 11g.
    Note: When you perform an import over a database link, the import source is a database, not a dump file set, and the data is imported to the connected database instance.
    Because the link can identify a remotely networked database, the terms database link and network link are used interchangeably.

  • Import over network link fails when table and special character.

    I am trying to do an import over the network link. Below is the command I am using to do the import. In the parameter file the table name has "$" sign. Database is on AIX.
    impdp "'/ as sysdba'" PARFILE=par_aml_aud_import.txt LOGFILE=test.log
    PARFILE:
    JOB_NAME=MONTHLY_XYZ_IMPORT

    REMAP_TABLESPACE=XYZ_INDEX:XYZ_AUDIT_INDEX
    EXCLUDE=GRANT
    TABLES=XYZ.DR$ABC_EFG_CTC1$N, DR$MNO_PQR_CTC1$N
    I have tested this import with following options.
    on the command line TABLES=\"XYZ\".\"DR\$ABC_EFG_CTC1\$N\" ---- (IN THE PARFILE)
    on the command line TABLES=\"XYZ\".\"DR\$ABC_EFG_CTC1\$N\" ---- (WITHOUT USING PARFILE)
    Still my import fails with below error.

    I had more than 20 tables to import. All the other tables get imported except these tables which have special character. I have confirmed that these tables exists in source database.
    Please advice.

  • I want to know how to get the web addresses to go away that appear in the bottom left corner of the browser every time my mouse goes over a link

    Any time that my mouse goes over a link on a web page a little box in the bottom left corner of the browser pops up showing the web address for that link and it is really annoying, especially when i am on facebook because there are so many links on the home page i cant move my mouse anywhere without that box popping up and blocking part of my conversations. I was wondering if there was any way to turn this off. I've checked through the options and to my knowledge there is no way to turn it off. Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem or knew if there was a way to get that box to go away.

    Another option would be to use the following extension to push those messages into the status bar. It could be a convenient way to have your messages visible when you want them, but with less distraction.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/
    If you try it, let us know what you think.

  • 11.2.0.3, DBMS_DATAPUMP import ower db link, DATA_REMAP does not work

    This is related to impdp: should network_link and remap_data work together? that I accidentally marked as answered.
    Documentation says, I can supply NULL as value of schema for DATA_REMAP: See   DBMS_DATAPUMP
    That does not work, it gives an error:
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-39001: invalid argument value
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SYS_ERROR", line 79
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_DATAPUMP", line 3507
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_DATAPUMP", line 4309
    ORA-06512: at line 11
    If I give SOURCE_SCHEMA as schema, DATA_REMAP does nothing.
    TARGET_SCHEMA is of course not accepted as TABLE_TO_LOAD does not yet exist.
    The code I am using is something like this:
    set serveroutput on;
    declare
      handlename number;
    begin
        handlename := DBMS_DATAPUMP.open('IMPORT','TABLE', 'SOURCE_DB_LINK','NAME_OF_JOB');
        DBMS_DATAPUMP.METADATA_FILTER(handle => handlename, name => 'SCHEMA_LIST', value => '''SOURCE_SCHEMA''');
        DBMS_DATAPUMP.METADATA_FILTER(handle => handlename, name => 'NAME_EXPR', value => 'IN (''TABLE_TO_LOAD'')');
        DBMS_DATAPUMP.METADATA_REMAP(handlename,'REMAP_SCHEMA','SOURCE_SCHEMA','TARGET_SCHEMA');
        DBMS_DATAPUMP.ADD_FILE(handlename, 'name_of_log','DUMPDIR',NULL,DBMS_DATAPUMP.KU$_FILE_TYPE_LOG_FILE,1);
        DBMS_DATAPUMP.DATA_REMAP(handlename, 'COLUMN_NAME', 'TABLE_TO_LOAD', 'COLUMN_TO_REMAP',  'TARGET_SCHEMA.REMAPKG.REMAPFN',  NULL);
        DBMS_DATAPUMP.START_JOB(handlename);
    end;
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    seems it is not supported for Network link check this: Ref Doc:DBMS_DATAPUMP
    Usage Notes
    The DATA_REMAP procedure is only supported for Export and Import operations. It allows you to manipulate user data being exported or imported. The name of the remap determines the remap operation to be performed.
    I haven't try this but, are you using the same user/schema name for the data pump operation where your object exist.. if not you can try this option as well. in that case NULL support i believe.

  • Expdp over network fails.

    I have a test1 and test2 db's on two different servers. I want to run expdp from test2 db and get the export of a table from test1. I have created a db link and used network_link in expdp command. Granted read,write on directory to user with which i am connecting to db.
    Using expdp over a network_link fails with this error. For the same user I have tried it locally on test2 db and it works fine.
    Is there any other step to be done ?
    ORA-39002: invalid operation
    ORA-39070: Unable to open the log file.
    ORA-39087: directory name DUMPS is invalid

    expdp un/pwd*@test1db* job_name=EXP_test1 directory=dumps network_link=test1.dummy.COM dumpfile=dp.dmp log
    file=dp.LOG tables=a.tableThis is the problem. When running export using NETWORK_LINK to test1, you need to connect to test2 not test1.
    The idea is your connect to test2 first , test2 then connect to test1 using database link and bring the data over network and dump to local directory.
    In your command it's actually running export against test1, then in that case, test1 need to have directory called dumps defined.

  • Expdp network link

    Hi,
    1,Can we use network link in expdp from 11g (destination)to 10g ( traget) for data migration?
    2,Can we do like copy the user password from 10g and apply to 11g?
    The below one is goet from source(10g).
    grant connect,resource to HKHR identified by 'EAA43BC83A9C1BD4';
    grant connect,resource to CSHEi dentified by 'C8F09D04F6AD4B05';
    If we execute the above one at 11g,can we get the same password in 11g as 10g?
    Is it possible?Because we have nearly 500 users in the database.
    Any other method.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Yes this all should work just fine. If you want the schemas moved over, just make sure that you use a privileged account. If you are having each person move their own schemas and the the schemas are not prived, then the user account with passwords are not moved over.
    If you are using full=y the the schema running the datapump job needs to be prived anyway, so no issue. If you are moving multiple schemas, then the same applies. The schema running a multi schema job needs to be prived, so no issue.
    The passwords will be copied over when the schema is created.
    Again, this should all work fine.

  • Adding artwork over network

    I get a strange thing: my library (of pretty much 160 kbps AAC) is on a network drive; currently ~10mbps link. If I import to the library on that drive: all good.
    However if I then add artwork, then typically the smaller songs (2 minutes or less, although this is just a guide) become unplayable and I have to burn them again. If I import them locally, add artwork and then drag them over to the network drive later, everything's fine.
    Does anyone else get this? If not are you accessing your library over a 100mbps link or something similarly faster than mine?
    Cheers,
    Trystan

    I sort of answered my own quetion - artwork for shared music that is actually playing is displayed by clicking on the triangle in the bar above artwork box, but arwork is not shown for music that is simply selected. This is likely due to increased bandwidth of need to transfer images over network; may well disappear as higher-bandwidth home networks become more common. I hope this helps someone.

  • I have 2MB/s over network

    I have 2MB/s over network from wireless Mac to wired Window or wired Linux... is that the best i can get?

    kawal wrote:
    you should at least get 54Mbps transfer speed (11mbps if you're still on 802.11-B). or as GV said it may depend on how far you are from the router. there's a function present on wireless devices which lowers down the transfer rate as you move farther from the access point to ensure stable connection and data integrity.
    54 Mbit/s is no transfer speed!! It's the connection rate. It's the theoretical boundary and it's just supposed to be an indication for the qualtity of the connection. Generally, on a 54 Mbit/s connection you can be lucky to get approx. 1/2 that speed for real transfers. Something like 2-3 MB/s aka MByte/s aka 16-24 Mbit/s is generally very good on a 54 Mbit/s link. It can get worse with a lot of interference...

  • Running a java program over network

    Hi,
    How a java program on a machine can be run without having JRE on the same machine, rather interpreting bytecode over network having JRE on another machine?

    Rahul.Kumar wrote:
    well, so my java program is running on x. Initialy X had JRE and on invoking java program from command prompt, it had looked for JRE at path, set in environmental settings. Now I moved JRE to another machine Y and connected these two machines (X and Y). You have two machines X and Y.
    "Connected" or not has nothing to do with this discussion.
    In X path is set to the JRE on Y. The path on X has absolutely nothing to do with anything on Y.
    Now execute java program on X, theoretically it should work or what is wrong with this?This makes no sense. Presuming you meant Y in the above then the following must be true.
    1. You must have a JRE on Y.
    2. You must have a java application on Y (or one accessible via the file system on Y.)
    3. You must be on Y and start the JRE passing the java application that is on Y to it.
    Notice in the above there is no mention of X. There can be no mention of X.

  • Help! Saving an image to stream and recreating it on client over network

    Hi,
    I have an application that uses JDK 1.1.8. I am trying to capture the UI screens of this application over network to a client (another Java app running on a PC). The client uses JDK 1.3.0. As AWT image is not serializable, I got code that converts UI screens to int[] and persist to client socket as objectoutputstream.writeObject and read the data on client side using ObjectInputStream.readObject() api. Then I am converting the int[] to an Image. Then saving the image as JPEG file using JPEG encoder codec of JDK 1.3.0.
    I found the image in black and white even though the UI screens are in color. I have the code below. I am sure JPEG encoder part is not doing that. I am missing something when recreating an image. Could be colormodel or the way I create an image on the client side. I am testing this code on a Win XP box with both server and client running on the same machine. In real scenario, the UI runs on an embedded system with pSOS with pretty limited flash space. I am giving below my code.
    I appreciate any help or pointers.

    While testing more, I found that the client side is generating color UI screens if I use JDK 1.3 JVM for running the server (i.e the side that generates the img) without changing single line of code. But if I use JDK 1.1.8 JVM for the server, the client side is generating black and white versions (aka gray toned) of UI screens. So I added code to save int array that I got from PixelGrabber to a text file with 8 ints for each line in hex format. Generated these files on server side with JVM 1.1.8 and JVM 1.3. What I found is that the 1.1.8 pixel grabber is setting R,G,B components to same value where as 1.3 version is setting them to different values thus resulting in colored UI screens. I don't know why.

    Hi,
    We are on Oracle 11.2.0.2 on Solaris 10. I have two databases on this version of Oracle. From one db I have execute a stored procedure via db link to another database. The store procedure has dynamic sqls (execute immediate) and it uses commit statement as part of the code. Is it alllowed to execute this procedure over db link? I am not aware on the implications on stored proc execution over db link and will be thankful for help.
    Thanks,if no error is thrown, why are you looking for problems where none exist?

  • Interactive report performance problem over database link - Oracle Gateway

    Hello all;
    This is regarding a thread Interactive report performance problem over database link that was posted by Samo.
    The issue that I am facing is when I use Oracle function like (apex_item.check_box) the query slow down by 45 seconds.
    query like this: (due to sensitivity issue, I can not disclose real table name)
    SELECT apex_item.checkbox(1,b.col3)
    , a.col1
    , a.col2
    FROM table_one a
    , table_two b
    WHERE a.col3 = 12345
    AND a.col4 = 100
    AND b.col5 = a.col5
    table_one and table_two are remote tables (non-oracle) which are connected using Oracle Gateway.
    Now if I run above queries without apex_item.checkbox function the query return or response is less than a second but if I have apex_item.checkbox then the query run more than 30 seconds. I have resolved the issues by creating a collection but it’s not a good practice.
    I would like to get ideas from people how to resolve or speed-up the query?
    Any idea how to use sub-factoring for the above scenario? Or others method (creating view or materialized view are not an option).
    Thank you.
    Shaun S.

    Hi Shaun
    Okay, I have a million questions (could you tell me if both tables are from the same remote source, it looks like they're possibly not?), but let's just try some things first.
    By now you should understand the idea of what I termed 'sub-factoring' in a previous post. This is to do with using the WITH blah AS (SELECT... syntax. Now in most circumstances this 'materialises' the results of the inner select statement. This means that we 'get' the results then do something with them afterwards. It's a handy trick when dealing with remote sites as sometimes you want the remote database to do the work. The reason that I ask you to use the MATERIALIZE hint for testing is just to force this, in 99.99% of cases this can be removed later. Using the WITH statement is also handled differently to inline view like SELECT * FROM (SELECT... but the same result can be mimicked with a NO_MERGE hint.
    Looking at your case I would be interested to see what the explain plan and results would be for something like the following two statements (sorry - you're going have to check them, it's late!)
    WITH a AS
    (SELECT /*+ MATERIALIZE */ *
    FROM table_one),
    b AS
    (SELECT /*+ MATERIALIZE */ *
    FROM table_two),
    sourceqry AS
    (SELECT  b.col3 x
           , a.col1 y
           , a.col2 z
    FROM table_one a
        , table_two b
    WHERE a.col3 = 12345
    AND   a.col4 = 100
    AND   b.col5 = a.col5)
    SELECT apex_item.checkbox(1,x), y , z
    FROM sourceqry
    WITH a AS
    (SELECT /*+ MATERIALIZE */ *
    FROM table_one),
    b AS
    (SELECT /*+ MATERIALIZE */ *
    FROM table_two)
    SELECT  apex_item.checkbox(1,x), y , z
    FROM table_one a
        , table_two b
    WHERE a.col3 = 12345
    AND   a.col4 = 100
    AND   b.col5 = a.col5If the remote tables are at the same site, then you should have the same results. If they aren't you should get the same results but different to the original query.
    We aren't being told the real cardinality of the inners select here so the explain plan is distorted (this is normal for queries on remote and especially non-oracle sites). This hinders tuning normally but I don't think this is your problem at all. How many distinct values do you normally get of the column aliased 'x' and how many rows are normally returned in total? Also how are you testing response times, in APEX, SQL Developer, Toad SQLplus etc?
    Sorry for all the questions but it helps to answer the question, if I can.
    Cheers

  • Report over database link error

    Good morning all.
    I have a database link LINKA from USERA on LOCALSERVER to USERB on REMOTESERVER.
    (create database link LINKA connect to USERB identified by mypassword using validtns)
    In USERC on REMOTESERVER I have a TABLEX, with grant all on TABLEX to USERB on REMOTESERVER.
    In USERB on REMOTESERVER I have a view TABLEXV, select * from USERC.TABLEX
    From USERA on LOCALSERVER I can select * from TABLEXV@LINKA. In fact I can insert/update/delete tablexv from USERA.
    I also have a view TABLEXV on USERA, select * from TABLEXV@LINKA. I can also select/insert/update/delete from USERA.TABLEXV.
    So far so good - all working as expected.
    Then, my APEX app on LOCALSERVER, interactive report, parsing schema USERA, querying TABLEXV, I get the following:
    when "Exclude Link Column", I get the error "The requested URL /pls/apex/f was not found on server.
    when "Link to Single Row View", report displays correctly.
    when "Link to Custom Target", I get the error "The requested URL /pls/apex/f was not found on server.
    When I run the select * from TABLEXV as a regular report (i.e. not interactive), I also get the error.
    So the only time I get the report displayed correctly is using IR and "Link to Single Row View".
    However, clicking on the link (for Single Row View) I get "The requested URL /pls/apex/wwv_flow.show was not found on this server.".
    To summarize:
    - accessing table via view over database link
    - works outside of apex without issue
    - inside only works when Link to Single Row View set
    - But clicking on link fails
    I could live with just having the Link to Singe Row View option if I could disable displaying of the icon so that the user cant click on it.
    APEX 3.2.00.27
    EE Database - 10.2.0.3 (yes I know out of support)
    Remote EE Database - 10.2.0.5
    Real object names replaced to protect the innocent!
    Anyone got any clues?
    I have used remote tables many times in my APEX applications and never had this issue.
    Thanks,
