Dbms_ldap ORA-31203: DBMS_LDAP: PL/SQL - Init Failed ( 9i rel. 9.2.0.1.0)
Hi,
I have a strange behaviour with the package dbms_ldap. I work with Oracle 9i, rel. 9.2.0.1.0 .
I have the hostname xxxx.yy .
The ping gives me this IP number:
H:\sql>ping xxxx.yy
Ping xxxx.yy [10.159.29.41] mit 32 Bytes Daten:
Antwort von 10.159.29.41: Bytes=32 Zeit=5ms TTL=125
When I use the softerra ldap browser 2.6, I can specify as host: xxxx.yy and I receive the answer with no problem.
But when I use the dbms_ldap package, this hostname fails.
SQL> @search;

LDAP Host : xxxx.yy
LDAP Port : 389
Error code : -31203
Error Message : ORA-31203: DBMS_LDAP: PL/SQL - Init Failed.

But when I use the IP adress instead of the hostname, all works fine.

ORA-31202: DBMS_LDAP: LDAP client/server error: Invalid credentials
Hey Guys,
I have an application with LDAP authentication and a custom login page (pg 101). When I run this app, the login page displays first, logs me in and logs out fine. However, when I branch to this application from another application, the login page shows up with the following error:
ORA-31202: DBMS_LDAP: LDAP client/server error: Invalid credentials
Error ERR-1082 Error in executing authorization scheme code.
I looked at debug and this is happening because when this page is loaded, it goes to my authentication scheme and tries to authenticate me even though I havnt logged in and because no user exists at this point the error happens.
I have set the login page to 'Page is Public' and have also used the following code in the authentication scheme's Page Sentry Function:
IF APEX_CUSTOM_AUTH.CURRENT_PAGE_IS_PUBLIC = TRUE THEN;
RETURN TRUE;
ELSE
RETURN FALSE;
END IF;
Any ideas of how I can stop my login page from being authenticated? Or where I am going wrong
Thanks
-MarkJes,
I could get it work !!!! my complete code

I came across this error and I am about to start a fresh installation of the grid. (ealier one failed because it was unable to read the memory in rac2 )
Is there anything specific I can change before I start my installation.

ORA-29516: Bulk load of method failed; insufficient shm-object space
Hello,
Just installed 11.2.0.1.0 on CentOS 5.5 64-bit. All dependencies satisfied, installation/linking went without a problem.
Server has 32GB RAM, using AMM with target set at 29GB, no swapping is occuring.
No matter what i do when loading Java code (loadjava with JARs or "create and compile java source") I keep getting the error:

Please help.Hi there,
I've stumbled into exactly the same issue for 11g. After I start the database up and I ran loadjava on an externally
compiled class (Hello.class in my instance) I got the following error:
Error while testing for existence of dbms_java.handleMd5
ORA-29516: Aurora assertion failure: Assertion failure at joez.c:3311

After this, I checked the trace file and saw the following error message:
peshmmap_Create_Memory_Map:

Map_Protection = 7
Flags = 1
File_Offset = 0
mmap failed with error 1
error message:Operation not permitted

Assertion failure at joez.c:3311
Bulk load of method java/lang/Object.<init> failed; insufficient shm-object space
It seems as though that "JOXSHM" of size "134217728" (which is 128MB) corresponds to the java_pool_size setting in my init.ora file:
memory_target=1000M
memory_max_target=2000M
java_pool_size=128M
shared_pool_size=256M
Whenever I change that size it propagates to the trace file. I also picked up that only 592MB of shm memory gets used. My df -h dump:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda7 39G 34G 4.6G 89% /
udev 10M 288K 9.8M 3% /dev
/dev/sda5 63M 43M 21M 69% /boot
/dev/sda4 59G 45G 11G 81% /mnt/data
shm 2.0G 592M 1.5G 29% /dev/shm
The only way in which I could get loadjava to work was to remove java from the database by calling the rmjvm.sql script.
After this I installed java again by calling the initjvm.sql script. I noticed that after these scripts my shm-memory usage
increased to about 624MB which is 32MB larger than before:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda7 39G 34G 4.6G 89% /
udev 10M 288K 9.8M 3% /dev
/dev/sda5 63M 43M 21M 69% /boot
/dev/sda4 59G 45G 11G 81% /mnt/data
shm 2.0G 624M 1.4G 31% /dev/shm
However, after I stopped the database and started it again my Java was broken again and calling loadjava produced
the same error message as before. The shm memory usage would also return to 592MB again. Is there something I
need to do in terms of persisting the changes that initjvm and rmjvm does to the database? Or is there something else
wrong that I'm overlooking like the memory management settings or something?

Java.sql.SQLException: Fail to convert between UTF8 and UCS2: failUTF8Conv
Hi all,
I am writing a servlet that connects to Oracle 8.0.6 through jdbc for jdk1.2 on NT 4.0
English version and it works fine.
But when the servlet is deployed to a solaris with Oracle 8.0.5 (not a typo, the oracle on
NT is 8.0.6 and oracle on solaris is 8.0.5) and jdbc for jdk1.2 (of course, for Solaris),
the servlet failed with the Exception:
java.sql.SQLException: Fail to convert between UTF8 and UCS2: failUTF8Conv
(I am using JRun 3.0 as the application and web server for both NT and Solaris)
(The database in both the NT and solaris platform are using UTF8 charset)
My servlet looks like this: (dbConn is a Connection object proved to be connected to Oracle
in previous segment of the same method):
String strSQL = "SELECT * FROM test";
try { Statement stmt = dbConn.createStatement();
ResultSet rs = stmt.execute(strSQL);
while (rs.next()) {
out.println("id = " + rs.getInt("id"));
System.out.println("id written");
out.println("name = " + rs.getString("name")); // <-- this is the line the
exception is thrown
System.out.println("name written");
} catch (java.sql.SQLException e) {
System.out.println("SQL Exception");
System.out.println(e);
The definition of the "test" table is:
create table test(
id number(10,0),
name varchar2(30));
There are about 10 rows exists in the table "test", in which all rows contains ONLY chinese
characters in the "name" field.
And when I view the System log, the string "id written" is shown EXACTLY ONCE and then there
is:
SQL Exception
java.sql.SQLException: Fail to convert between UTF8 and UCS2: failUTF8Conv
That means the resultset is fetch back from the database correctly. The problem arise only
during the getString("name") method.
Again, this problem only happens when the servlet is run on the solaris platform.
At first I would expect there are some strange code shown on the web page rather than having
an exception. I know that I should use getBytes to convert between different encodings, but
that's another story.
One more piece of information: When all the rows contains ascii characters in their "name"
field, the servlet works perfectly even in solaris.
If anyone knows why and how to tackle the problem please let me know. You can feel free to
send email to me at [email protected]
Many thanks,
Ben
nullHi all,
For the problem I previously posted, I found that Oracle had had such bug filed before in Oracle 7.3.2 (something like that) and is classified to be NOT A BUG.
A further research leads me to the document of Oracle that the error message:
"java.sql.SQLException: Fail to convert between UTF8 and UCS2: failUTF8Conv"
is a JDBC driver error message of error number ORA-17037.
I'm still wondering why this behaviour will happen only in Solaris platform. The servlet on an NT machine I am using (which has an Oracle 8.0.6 and jdbc for jdk 1.2 running) is working just fine. I also suspect that this may be some sort of mistakes from jdbc driver.
Nevertheless, I have found a way to work around the problem that I cannot get non-English string from Oracle in Solaris and I would like to share it with you all here.
Before I go on, I found that there are many people out there on the web that encounter the same problem. (Some of which said s/he has been working on this problem for a month). As a result, if you find this way of working around the problem does help you, please tell those who have the same problem but don't know how to tackle. Thanks very much.
Here's the way I work it out. It's kinda simple, but it does work:
Instead of using:
String abc = rs.getString("SomeColumnContainsNonEnglishCharacters");
I used this:
String abc = new String(rs.getBytes("SomeColumnContainsNonEnglishCharacters"));
This will give you a string WITH YOUR DEFAULT CHARSET (or ENCODING) from your system.
If you want to convert the string read to some other encoding type, say Big5, you can do it like this:
String abc = new String(rs.getBytes("SomeColumneContainsNonEnglishCharacters"), "BIG5");
Again, it's simple, but it works.
Finally, if anyone knows why the fail to convert problem happens, please kindly let me know by leaving a word in [email protected]
Again, thanks to those of you who had tried to help me out.

Edited by: hqt200475 on Jul 10, 2011 10:05 AMHi Ronald,
I need the external Job in the 10.2.0.4-Environment because of the Online-Upgrade of a 10.2.0.4-Database to 11.2.0.2 with STREAMS. I want to start the old export from a PL/SQL-Procedure.
Now returning to my problem:
First: Change the run user to oracle:oinstall $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/externaljob.ora
# This configuration file is used by dbms_scheduler when executing external
# (operating system) jobs. It contains the user and group to run external
# jobs as. It must only be writable by the owner and must be owned by root.
# If extjob is not setuid then the only allowable run_user
# is the user Oracle runs as and the only allowable run_group is the group
# Oracle runs as.
#run_user = nobody
#run_group = nobody
run_user = oracle
run_group = oinstallsecond:

/The manual execution of export as user oracle/oinstall was unproblematic, But I still got the error when running the following procedure :

TIA,Hi,
If rdbms/admin/externaljob.ora exists (in 10.2.0.3 and up) then external jobs run as the user and group specified in this file which should be nobody by default.
If it does not exist (in releases prior to 10.2.0.3) then external jobs run as the owner of bin/extjob which should be nobody by default.
Because external jobs run as a lowly privileged user (nobody) by default, you need to make sure that this user can execute your script. Things to check for include
1) Use full paths to all binaries or scripts in job_action or program_action as well as calls inside the script.
2) Make sure all scripts start with #!/bin/sh or another command interpreter
3) Make sure all scripts have the executable bit set and are executable by the user that external jobs run as
4) Make sure that all required environment variables are set. External jobs by default do not have any environment variables set. For example, for an oracle import or export or sqlloader script you may need to set oracle_home, oracle_sid, ld_library_path and path environment variables in your script or source the required Oracle environment script.
Hope this helps,

ORA-27369: job of type EXECUTABLE failed with exit code: 127
I'm trying to execute the following Script (test.ksh):

test.php is a simple php test script which is doing nothing
from stored procedure:
create or replace procedure testScript is

job_action=>'/u99/test.ksh',
enabled=>TRUE);

I can successfully execute the command "php /u99/test.php" from the command line
cheersextproc is a different component (calling external C procedures from PL/SQL) . It is completely separate from the Scheduler .
To switch the user that all external Scheduler jobs on UNIX run as you need to do one of two things depending on your release.
- in release 10.2.0.2 or prior releases (where there is no rdbms/admin/externaljob.ora) you need to change the owner of the extjob executable (who should be nobody by default) .
- in 10.2.0.3 you just need to edit the file rdbms/admin/externaljob.ora to switch the run-user to the user that all jobs should run as
On Windows you need to change the user that the external jobs extjob Windows service runs as.
Note that changing this user allows all database users who can run external jobs to execute code as this user. If you are using 10.2, you should carefully restrict the CREATE EXTERNAL JOB system privilege if you are doing this. If you are using 10.1, there is no CREATE EXTERNAL JOB system privilege (just the regular CREATE JOB privilege) but you should be aware of the security impact of this move.
Hope this helps,
