Dbxml 2.3.10 build using Eclipse

Can the dbxml 2.3.10 be built using the Eclipse IDE on Windows XP? I do not have Visual Studio as the README suggests using.
Right now I do not have a jar directory under my dbxml install directory and do not have the required libraries: db.jar, dbxml.jar and dbxmlexamples.jar
Is there a binary download of dbxml so I do not have to build?

The Java libraries for dbxml require you to build C++ libraries, so Eclipse for Java developers cannot be used to build it.
However, you can use the free version of Visual Studios, Visual Studios Express Edition, to build dbxml. The jar directory and files will be created during the build, and once built you can use Eclipse to develop in Java.
Eclipse does have issues with the directory structure of the Java example programs, but it works very well with the Java API source. Plus, if you are feeling adventurous you can set up Eclipse and Visual Studio to work together so you can debug both the Java and the C++ at once.

so if anybody have idea about above pls let me know

This problem come directly from your Exadel or Eclipse IDE itself.
It means that a directory (which is your project directory) is not available in your worspace dir.
usually workspace dir is inside your user home dir.
check to see whether this folder exisits or not.

  • Using Eclipse project definitions to build the Flex SDK

It would be great if someone from Adobe could post on the recommended usage of the Eclipse project definitions in the development/eclipse/ subdirectory of the 3.0.x trunk distribution. I would like to debug some compiler modifications that I am working on.
I saw Peter Farland demo this setup at 360Flex, but was unable to capture all the details of the Eclipse configuration that he discussed in his talk.
    thanks!

If you go to the framework project’s properties, there is a section called Flex Library Compiler, you want to use a specific flex sdk (add a new sdk which points to the trunk, and use that) — you are probably building /against/ the wrong sdk, right code, wrong compiler.

Try changing the sdk for the framework lib project to trunk (you'll need to add a new flex sdk, name it whatever you want) -- it's in the project properties. It's using the wrong compiler.

I am running FB on top of Eclipse 3.3.2.
    <http://3.3.2.>
http://3.3.2.>  I checked out the whole SDK trunk and can build the main ant task with no errors. I used the instructions mentioned above to create a Flex framework library project and thats where the error comes in. (I had tried to manually build a framework project a few times and it was a nightmare.) I would probably prefer to work on the 3.0.x branch/tag as I hope to submit a patch or two but saw Joe mention that the project defs only existed in the trunk.
Searching Google for the oem error turns up lots of links about projects that had assets deleted and the build got confused but following the instructions on how to fix proved unsuccessful.

I always forget what that error means when it comes up -- though it's been ages since I've seen it last, literally.
Joe: Since you mention Java 1.5, I'm guessing the errors are in the asdoc package? Those should be turned off (read: turned into a warning) -- Eclipse is a little too persnickety about that particular error. There's a preference for this in the Java section under warnings and errors. It's turned off in the trunk dev projects. Otherwise, you should be able to run the compiler directly with no problems (okay, one more caveat: there's a class loader issue with the OEM, fixed in trunk if you look for my Java 1.5 checkin).
Ben: What is your setup? What are you building (Ryan mentions trunk, Joe mentions 30x), which Eclipse, which dev projects, did you build the sdk from the commandline first, etc.?
    Cheers,

  • How to use Flash Builder  for Eclipse Luna ( is it possible??)

How to use Flash Builder  for Eclipse Luna ( is it possible??)

Yes. I have Flash Builder 4.6 and 4.7 running in different Eclipse Luna installs.
    More details at http://forums.adobe.com/message/4527443
On Mac, I had to have the 32bit version of Luna for 4.6, and the 64bit version of Luna for 4.7 (and  I recently started using  4.7 with Eclipse Mars).
For 4.6 you need to first download Eclipse 3.6 and install the Flash Builder 4.6 plugin to that Eclipse install. For 4.7 you need to download Eclipse 3.7 and install the plugin to that Eclipse install. Once it's installed in the 3.x version, you can then copy the fb*.link files from the Eclipse 3.x dropins folders into your Eclipse Luna's dropin folder.
There is an issue where something in Flash Builder 4.7 won't work right when using it as a plugin, not sure but it might be something with building ANEs.

  • Java Mapping - using Eclipse as IDE.

    Hello,
We need to write a complex java mapping. We are currently planning to use Eclipse IDE for developing the mapping class. (we dont have the NW studio unfortunaltey). The user defined function option in the IR will not suffice.
My question is - where do we get the com.sap.** libraries from - so that we can import those packages in our mapping code?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
The necessary Jar files are downloaded & available in your PC when you use Integration Builder tools.
Normally Java webstart caches these files in your local directory.
You can find Java mapping related Jars in the following directory :
    C:Documents and Settings%USER%Application DataSunJavaDeploymentjavawscachehttp%HOST%P50000DMrepDMrepository
Goto the directory, search for files like *aii_map_api.jar
It will give you list of Jar files like RMaii_map_api.jar , just rename it as aii_map_api.jar and use it in Eclipse or NWDS.
Note: While searching for Jar files take only Jar files with ~30KB size from the search results.

  • How to create an EJB Module using Eclipse

    Hi,
How do I create a single EJB module and make a deployable EJB jar? I already have a existing source directory that contains the java files and the deployment descriptor. I am using Eclipse Ganymede 3.4 and Weblogic 9.2.
    Thanks.
    Edited by: user10387019 on Dec 9, 2008 1:39 PM

Start out by creating an empty EJB project using the EJB Project wizard. Make sure to specify your WebLogic 9.2 installation as target runtime on the first page of the wizard. If your EJB source code is plain spec-compliant EJB, then your project is ready. If you are using WLS EjbGen technology, then you will also need to enable that feature on the project. You can do that at project creation by clicking the Modify button next to the Configuration combo on the first page of the wizard and then selecting WebLogic EJB Gen Support facet.
Once the project is created, you are ready to import your source. You have several choices here. You can either copy your source into the src directory created for you or you can delete that source directory and link to a source directory elsewhere on the file system. To do the latter, right click on the project and select properties. Go to Java Build Path and select the Source tab. Remove the existing source directory. Then click on Link Source button and point to your existing source directory.
That should be all that's necessary. Hope that helps.

  • Problem using eclipse

    Hi,
I am trying to use Eclipse but I encountered some problems. I drag and drop an application of mine, into a Java project in Eclipse, I try to run and I get :
    Usage: javaw [-options] class [args...]
               (to execute a class)
or  javaw [-options] -jar jarfile [args...]
               (to execute a jar file)
    where options include:
-client       to select the "client" VM
-server       to select the "server" VM
-hotspot       is a synonym for the "client" VM  [deprecated]
    .Whats that about?

I think it would be better to build a new project in Eclipse with the same name as your old project, and with the same java class names as your old project (with no content) in a similiar package structure (this is especially easy if the project is small). Then copy/paste the contents of the java classes into the ones in Eclipse. Then add the jar files to the lib folder that are missing (then add them to the project via the menu buy right clicking on the project icon, going to properties, etc).
Drag/dropping a project into eclipse will probably not configure the missing jar files, etc that Eclpise needs. Note if your project is a tomcat project, then in eclpise, create a tomcat project and configure its settings such as where the tomcat server is located and what version of java jdk your using for the project.
However, if you have an already existing Eclipse project you only need to 'import' the project via the Eclpise menu.

  • How to debug Sun's classes using Eclipse

Sometimes happens to me during the debugging of my application to have the necessity to "step into"

Even if Sun provide us the sources, I have not found a way to debug Sun classes because the Sun

Eclipse open correctly the Sun's source but, without the debug informations into Sun's jars, is impossible

How can you expect them to understand you if you use strange abbreviations? Programming is an exercise in precision. If you have a question here, you would do well to communicate it precisely.
At the site [How to Ask Smart Questions|http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html#writewell] :
h1. Write in clear, grammatical, correctly-spelled language
We've found by experience that people who are careless and sloppy writers are usually also careless and sloppy at thinking and coding (often enough to bet on, anyway). Answering questions for careless and sloppy thinkers is not rewarding; we'd rather spend our time elsewhere.
So expressing your question clearly and well is important. If you can't be bothered to do that, we can't be bothered to pay attention. Spend the extra effort to polish your language. It doesn't have to be stiff or formal in fact, hacker culture values informal, slangy and humorous language used with precision. But it has to be precise; there has to be some indication that you're thinking and paying attention.
Spell, punctuate, and capitalize correctly. Don't confuse its with it's, loose with lose, or discrete with discreet. Don't TYPE IN ALL CAPS; this is read as shouting and considered rude. (All-smalls is only slightly less annoying, as it's difficult to read. Alan Cox can get away with it, but you can't.)
More generally, if you write like a semi-literate boob you will very likely be ignored. So don't use instant-messaging shortcuts. Spelling "you" as "u" makes you look like a semi-literate boob to save two entire keystrokes. Worse: writing like a l33t script kiddie hax0r is the absolute kiss of death and guarantees you will receive nothing but stony silence (or, at best, a heaping helping of scorn and sarcasm) in return.
If you are asking questions in a forum that does not use your native language, you will get a limited amount of slack for spelling and grammar errors but no extra slack at all for laziness (and yes, we can usually spot that difference). Also, unless you know what your respondent's languages are, write in English. Busy hackers tend to simply flush questions in languages they don't understand, and English is the working language of the Internet. By writing in English you minimize your chances that your question will be discarded unread.
the main issue here is my questionMy recommendation: learn to do Swing without a code-generator. You gain a much better understanding of the underpinnings of Swing, the layout managers, and you gain extremely good control of component placement.

  • Flex Builder vs Eclipse Plugin

my projects but don't want to sacrifice solid Flex support (mxml,

How does the Eclipse plug-in compare with Flex Builder (what

    Any comments much appreciated.
    Cheers,

Flex bulder seems to be just an eclipse installation with the
plugin already there for you, so you shouldnt loose anything by
    using just the plugin
However i did find when using using the flex plugin in
combination with all the other development plugins i had going it
made eclipse grind to a crashing halt every 20mins. Increasing the

    problem
If you want to incorporate all your development into one
eclipse then increase the eclipse jvm memory and give it a try, if
it is going too slow then use the stand alone builder

  • GUI builder for Eclipse

    Hello
Does the IDE Eclipse provide a drag-and-drop GUI builder, can it create that MS visual studio feel, am new to java and just after some quick answers...any help will be much appreciated..
    cheers Lee

    Here are your quick answers:
No Eclipse does not come with one, Eclpise barely comes with anything, you have to find a plugin for it.
Yes there are several plugins for GUI drag and drop. I tried them and most outright suck, none even compare to Netbeans.
Here are the quick answers you don't want to here but need to take to heart:
If you choose to use the netbeans GUI builder as someone who is new to java, you will only be doing yourself a huge disservice. I am not saying this because I am anti netbeans, I used eclipse exclusively until about a year ago, now i prefer netbeans but still use eclipse on occasion. The reason i prefer netbeans is because of it's GUI builder. I love it, and I use it alot.
So why am I suggesting you not use it? Simple really, I programmed GUIs using swing for years before using the GUI builder. I know swing very well, we are good buds. Because of this I am able to maximize the netbeans GUI builder to do amazing stuff with it quickly and easily. If I didn't know swing already, the Netbeans GUI builder would be a handicap and at the same time a crutch saving me from the handicap while keeping me handicapped.
If you use the GUI builder before you know swing you will never be able to add to its palette or functionality, never be able to modify the autogenerated code, and learn more wrong swing practices than right ones. Yes it sucks to have to do something by hand when you know there is a tool that can do it. But you will be extremely thankful you invested the time learning swing first when you do start using the GUI builder.
And I am not a fool, I know you are not going to listen to me, no one listens to just some guy saying you should do it the hard way first so you will be much better at doing it the easy way later. They all think either that they are special and can figure swing out while using the GUI builder, or that they will go back and learn it right later (as if they will have more time then). Listen if you want to, don't if you don't want to. If you do great, if not better job security for me. But everyone who doesn't winds up wishing they did, at least on this point.

Confusing isn't it? You can post questions here for specific problems you need to solve and usually get an answer (eventually). However, asking for which technologies are better will probably only provide you with biased opinions. There are many alternatives, each providing its own trade offs. I suggest searching google for articles from respected sources such as 'theserverside' rather than depend on individuals. Also, limit your search to articles that are no older than about 1 year. Lastly, try to stick with technologies that are used by the bulk of the developers and are considered almost an industry standard. No point learning some good yet obscure technology.
As far as not considering a career as a developer, I suggest you stick to it no matter what. Anything you want to be good at takes years of practice and study
    (http://365pwords.wordpress.com/2009/01/25/practice-practice-practice-the-theory-of-10000-hours).
No one has a 'knack' or is born good at it (even if they claim to be), and everyone experiences frustration (20 years later, I'm still frustrated!). You advance by making countless mistakes, and refactoring over and over again. Ignore anyone who discourages you no matter what.
I think your quest should be limited to what you should learn when just starting out and not what is the best technologies for experienced users. Personally, I think learning JSP/Servlets is foundation that you should know well before considering alternatives. Also, many alternatives are based on extending JSPs and therefore you should know them well. I've always used JSP and not alternatives, so I can't comment further on that topic.
If your just starting out in web design, here are my recommendations (in roughly this order):
java -book (search amazon.com for books and reviews of what others have said in them).
practice compiling java classes from the book on the dos command line and using a text editor before moving on to
    an IDE.
Eclipse IDE - just an on-line tutorial may be ok. Learn to compile code, run it, debug it.
    JSP - book
    Servlets - book
JUnit - just an on-line tutorial may be ok
JSTL - just an on-line tutorial may be ok (use JSTL with JSP, not scriptlets)
XHTML - just an on-line tutorial may be ok
    Javascript - book
CSS - on line tutorial may be ok
Tomcat - just an on-line tutorial may be ok. You can move onto JBoss, etc later.
    JDBC - book
A free database such as Oracle Lite or MySql installed. Learn how to create tables.
MVC design - read up on separation of concerns on a design (presentation, control, business, and database layer).
    SQL - book
    JQuery - book
    Hibernate -book
Spring framework - book (only after creating an MVC web application with a single servlet as the control layer)
