Debug tables
Hi Experts,
I was debugging and noticed that for structure or internal tables the debug listing of the contents can differ. Sometimes, I see the columns in the rows, which is good as it shows me the data in 1 screen. But other times, for either structure or internal table or other things, it shows the columns in the columns. that is, the contents are shown in different layouts in the debug screen.
Could you help explain me the situation?
Thanks
Sanjay Patel.
Hi Sanjay,
Let me explain based on my understanding of your question.
1) Structures (work areas) and indivudual fields will show in the rows. Since it doesn't have array of values and having single structrure.
2) Internal tables with multiple rows will show in columns.
In the new ABAP dubugger, you have two tabs to show both of them in seperately.
Hope, it helps.
Thanks

Cant deploy the mapping which is validated fine-Problem in debugging
Hi All,
I have a complex mapping with almost thirthy tables involved.
I have created a mapping with step by step process of t1 Join t2 ,t2 Join t3....t29 join t30
The mapping seems fine and was validated succesfully.
When I try to deploy the same it is throwing me the warnings as below...
how to resolve this?
how to pinpoint the exact problem area in pls code generated while deploying.
Thanks Much!
Srid

Mapping Debugger Error:
oracle.wh.service.sdk.mapping.debugger.WBMappingDebuggerException: DBG1012: Debug deployment errors, can't run debug code.Hi,
there is only one software version. Whether or not you have to license it depends on the features you use.
Generate the code in the mapping editor using the "generate" button
In the generation result window, select generation style = intermediate and operating mode = "[PL/SQL] Set based"
Now you have to select some input or output group of some operator in your mapping.
Then the generation result window displays an SQL statement that represents the data that would go into the group you have selected.
Run the SQL directly in your target schema (using sql*plus, sql developer, etc.).
If the SQL cannot be executed, the problem is in that particular part of the mapping.
You may try to locate it further.
Good luck,
Carsten. -
How to show 10 bottom rows instead of showing 10 top rows of table as defau
A table was created with JTable class and JScrollPane class. If you run the following code, it always shows you the top 10 rows, the scrollbar stays at the right-top by default. However, what I want the program to show is the bottom 10 rows (The table has 30 rows totally) and the scrollbar should stay at the right-bottom as default. I should greatly appreciate it if anybody could tell me how to implement this scenario.

Though, use of dedup is totally prohibitive to nest rank() function (in order to use it in the outer where clause) and creation of dumb tables are messy in a way.
I chose creating a dumb constant vector that matches the rest of the query, filtering it to an empty set and then UNION ALL with the main query that is thenafter filtered on rank column (and it works pretty fine)
...just a pity it can't be debugged (they are my most complex mappings) with the debugger -
How to when press the button and can change the value in the table?
this is my code so far with a table and a button..how can i make it when press the button and the data in table change..

RegardsHi Ricardo,
If you put break point it will stop there at the particular point of the source code..It will not stop in the break point until another break point or the same break point..
Watch point is non to physically putting break point..Instead you can watch a variable when and where it is getting changed..by creating a watch point on the variable in the program..
Example for watch point
Go to the debug mode..
Press the create watch point button (shift + f8)..
It will give a popup to enter the program name and field name you have to watch..
Press enter..
It will stop when the field name is getting changed..
also look at....
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/c6/617cbee68c11d2b2ab080009b43351/frameset.htm
watch point?
Diff. Watch point and Break Point
Hope it will solve your problem...
Reward points if useful...

Invalid Table Name error in EXECUTE IMMEDIATE
Hi there.
I am trying to truncate few debug tables I created a used ago. Refer the code
declare
lv_sql varchar2(100) := 'truncate table :b1';
begin
for i in (select object_name
from all_objects
where object_type = 'TABLE'
and object_name like 'DEBUG_%'
and owner = user)
loop
dbms_output.put_line('Table Name: '||i.object_name);
execute immediate lv_sql using i.object_name;
end loop;
end;Seems to be correct (unless I messed something big). And, I get an error message:
ORA-00903: invalid table name
ORA-06512: at line 13Any idea? Thanks in advance.you can't bind table or column names... try this instead:
declare lv_sql varchar2(100);
begin for i in (select object_name
from all_objects
where object_type = 'TABLE'
and object_name like 'DEBUG_%'
and owner = user) loop
dbms_output.put_line('Table Name: '||i.object_name);
lv_sql := 'truncate table '||i.object_name;
execute immediate lv_sql;
end loop;

Value of htmlbd_items in variable
Hello everybody,
I created an PLSQL process and there I want to put the current value of the loop into a variable, but it doesn't work. I get the error message "no data found" .
The code extract is the following:
for i in apex_application.g_f02.first..apex_application.g_f02.last loop
select stunden into v_ilp_std
from cn_pl_std_peplanung
where abt_id = '1'
and pe_id IN (select apex_application.g_f02(i) from dual)
and l_art_id IN (select apex_application.g_f03(i) from dual)
and version_id IN (select apex_application.g_f04(i) from dual)
and idee_id IN (select idee_id from cn_pl_projektidee where name = apex_application.g_f05(i));If I change the code by replacing the items with real values it works:
for i in apex_application.g_f02.first..apex_application.g_f02.last loop
select stunden into v_ilp_std
from cn_pl_std_peplanung
where abt_id = '1'
and pe_id = '2'
and l_art_id = '2'
and version_id '24'
and idee_id IN (select idee_id from cn_pl_projektidee where name = 'idea 7');Does anybody have an idea what could be the problem?
Greetings PatrickPatrick - It doesn't matter if one of those array elements is null. You will get a "no data found", however, if you reference an element that is empty, i.e., that has not been assigned a value, null or otherwise. This usually happens when you use checkboxes, but it doesn't appear that you are using any, just looking at your code. You need to add debug statements to your process and insert the counts of each array into a debug table so you know what you've got. For example:
/*create table dbg (n1 number, c1 varchar2(4000));*/
declare i number;
begin
i := apex_application.g_f02.count;
insert into dbg(c1,n1) values('f02',i);
i := apex_application.g_f03.count;
insert into dbg(c1,n1) values('f03',i);
i := apex_application.g_f04.count;
insert into dbg(c1,n1) values('f04',i);
i := apex_application.g_f05.count;
insert into dbg(c1,n1) values('f05',i);
commit;
end;Also, I think those subqueries are an odd way to code it. Can't you just do this?
select stunden into v_ilp_std
from cn_pl_std_peplanung
where abt_id = '1'
and pe_id = apex_application.g_f02(i)
and l_art_id = apex_application.g_f03(i)
and version_id = apex_application.g_f04(i)
and idee_id IN (select idee_id from cn_pl_projektidee where name = apex_application.g_f05(i));Scott -
Report- Pl/sql function returning sql query parsing page items as text?
Hi Team,
I am facing a strange issue .
I have four page items namely
1)JOB_CODE
2)MIN_EXP
3) MAX_EXP
4) SOURCES1
I have a report of the type "Pl/sql function returning sql query"
declare
v_sql varchar2(4000);
begin
if (:JOB_CODE IS NOT NULL and :MIN_EXP IS NOT NULL and :MAX_EXP IS NOT NULL and :SOURCES1 IS NOT NULL) then
v_sql:= 'select v_candidate_id, v_fname,v_current_employer,v_Experience_years from candidature where V_REQUIREMENT = :JOB_CODE and v_experience_years >= :MIN_EXP and v_experience_years <= :MAX_EXP and source like ' || '''' || '%'|| ':SOURCES1' || '%' || '''';
elsif (:JOB_CODE IS NULL and :MIN_EXP IS NOT NULL and :MAX_EXP IS NOT NULL and :SOURCES1 IS NOT NULL) then
v_sql := 'select v_candidate_id, v_fname,v_current_employer,v_Experience_years from candidature where v_experience_years >= :MIN_EXP and v_experience_years <= :MAX_EXP and source like ' || '''' || '%'|| ':SOURCES1' || '%' || '''';
elsif (:MIN_EXP IS NULL and :JOB_CODE IS NOT NULL and :MAX_EXP IS NOT NULL and :SOURCES1 IS NOT NULL) then
v_sql := 'select v_candidate_id, v_fname,v_current_employer,v_Experience_years from candidature where v_experience_years <= :MAX_EXP and V_REQUIREMENT = :JOB_CODE and source like ' || '''' || '%'|| ':SOURCES1' || '%' || '''';
elsif (:MAX_EXP is null and :JOB_CODE IS NOT NULL and :MIN_EXP IS NOT NULL and :SOURCES1 IS NOT NULL) then
v_sql := 'select v_candidate_id, v_fname,v_current_employer,v_Experience_years from candidature where V_REQUIREMENT = :JOB_CODE and v_experience_years >= :MIN_EXP and source like ' || '''' || '%'|| ':SOURCES1' || '%' || '''';
end if;
insert into query_list values (v_sql);
insert into debug values (:JOB_CODE , :MIN_EXP , :MAX_EXP , :SOURCES1);
return v_sql;
end;
Please not that I am insertin the query into a table called Query_list and the page item values into the table called Debug thru the pl/sql function which returns teh query.
Now I select the data from the debug tables.
select unique(query) from query_list;
select v_candidate_id, v_fname,v_current_employer,v_Experience_years from candidature where V_REQUIREMENT = :JOB_CODE and v_experience_years >= :MIN_EXP and v_experience_years <= :MAX_EXP and source like '%:SOURCES1%'
select * from debug;
JOBCODE MINEX MAXEX SOURCE
21 1 10 donkeyHire
And if I run the query in sql I get some records returned
select v_candidate_id, v_fname,v_current_employer,v_Experience_years from candidature where V_REQUIREMENT = 21 and v_experience_years >= 1 and v_experience_years <= and source like 'donkeyHire'
V_CANDIDATE_ID V_FNAME V_CURRENT_EMPLOYER V_EXPERIENCE_YEARS
2 Vengu Andale Tech 4
But the record does not show up in the report!
does this type of report parse page items as text?
Why is it so?
Waiting for an early reply.
Thanks,
venkatVenkat - You don't want to put ':SOURCES1' in quotes like that.

SqlDeveloper Query = Fast, PL/SQL = Slow
I've got a nagging problem that is driving me crazy. Database is 11.1.0.7 and SQLDeveloper is 1.5.1 with the same behavior in 3.0.03.
Often I will develop a complex query in SQLDeveloper and get it tuned to a point where performance is great. However when I take that query and put it in a PL/SQL procedure with dynamic SQL the performance takes a nose dive. This happens when taking a query to an Apex report as well. I use bind variables in my queries in SQLDeveloper as well as Apex/PLSQL.
If I run an explain plan in SQLDeveloper it is often identical to the plan for the query in the pl/sql environment (seen through tkprof), yet the sqldeveloper query window is always faster.
The difference in speed is remarkable, my current "problem" query is runs in 71 seconds inside a PL/SQL stored procedure using dynamic sql with bind variables. If I print that query out and copy paste the query in to a SQLDeveloper sql window (worksheet?), the exact same query prompts me for the bind variable values and then runs in 0.07 seconds. Just to make sure the rows aren't caching, if I run the stored procedure version again it still takes 71+ seconds.
If I hard code values in the PL/SQL query instead of using bind variables, the stored procedure runs as fast as SQLDeveloper, 0.07 seconds.
I originally posted a similar problem over in the Apex forum and there we suspected the issue might be related to the 11g optimizer using bind variable peeking. SLOW report performance with bind variable
Ultimately, the goal is to have predictable results when taking a query from SQLDeveloper to PL/SQL.
Are there any SQLDeveloper developers out there that can confirm that "bind variable" syntax in SQL Developer is not using bind variables, but is instead rewriting the query with hard coded values in query strings?mcallister wrote:

when I take that query and put it in a PL/SQL procedure with dynamic SQL the performance takes a nose diveThat's one of the reasons not to use dynamic SQL - tuning the resulting queries is very difficult.
Is the dynamic SQL necessary? If you are only using bind variables it probably is not necessary. If you are swapping WHERE clause predicates in and out through program logic then predicting performance will be very hard (or using different column or table names too)
When I must use dynamic SQL I find a useful technique is to create a debugging table with a CLOB into which I can insert the generated SQL code for later reference. That code can be used for both debugging (looking for syntax errors) and tuning. I also find it very, very useful to write the dynamic SQL with proper formatting and linefeeds so it is immediately readable on inspection
Are there any SQLDeveloper developers out there that can confirm that "bind variable" syntax in SQL Developer is not using bind variables, but is instead rewriting the query with hard coded values in query strings?You can see if query rewrites are taking place by using the NO_QUERY_TRANSFORMATION hint and seeing if the execution plan changes while tuning. To a lesser degree you can examine execution plans from V$SQL_PLAN to look for signs of changes like predicates you didn't code but this is also very hard -
Unable to find an Output Post Processor service to post-process request
Hi experts,
Users complaining that they could not able to generate the PDF.
User Complaint:
The program does not generate the PDF. The program just generates the XML output. The logfile shows that “Unable to find an Output Post Processor service to post-process request 25852905.”

Steps that we tried:
1. Increased the OPP process to 16
2. Increased Concurrent:OPP Response Timeout to 750
3. There is no issue in manager log file.
4. Concurrent Requests Fail Due to Output Post Processing (OPP) Timeout (Doc ID 352518.1)
5. Restarted CM. Ran CMclean.

XML Publisher generates PDF but concurrent program still completes in error
Hello,
I have a concurent program that is used everyday. It generates PDF output with an average of 500 pages. It completes normal majority of the times, but completes in error sporadicallly. Interestingly, when it completes in error, it still generates the PDF output successfully.
Question is why does it complete in error when all is good?
Please note that we just went live on R12 from 11i beginning of this year. This issue never occurred in 11i. Please advise what can be done to fix this issue.
Below is a log from one such submission. The log was rather long, so I'm only posting chunks from the beginning and end of the log, stripping the middle portion:

Regards,
SmitaHi,
Since you said the behavior is sporadic and also the program was running good in 11i instance, I think its a problem with the data [or select query in the concurrent program] .
Ideal scenario:
1. Upon the concurrent program completing in error the pdf should not be generated in first place, since it misguides the obtained report. [Concurrent Program should be modified accordingly, before calling the pdf generation logic you need to check the status of the concurrent program].
2. It is not likely that the pdf generation should error out upon concurrent program's error, since the concurrent program could have a soft closure of its schema definition [inspite of an uncaught/unhandled exception]
eg:
<schema def>
<Xml element 1> </Xml element 1>
<Xml element 2> </Xml element 2>
<Xml element 3> </Xml element 3>
*_ <while generating elements 4, 5 and so on concurrent program could have errored out, but still the schema definition is valid so the pdf is generated>_*
</schema def>
Solution:
Next time when you get the same behaviour, try running the concurrent program and handle the exception for that scenario, this should resolve your issue.

Yuvaraj -
