Default WCI HTTP Header size

Hi All,
I am currently working with a customer that has a very small header size limit on their load balancers, 4K including URL.
They would like to know for a normal portal user what is the default header size that WCI will produce. They are aware that this will vary according to page content but if we assume there are no portlets on a page.
I can measure this but thought I would put it out there to see if anyone has done this work before ?
Cheers
Bob

hi,
You are referring to header between user browser and portal or portal and remote applications ?
Size of the header between portal and remote applications, depends on userinfo that are configured for specific portlet.
As for header size sent by user browser, you can easily check it using firebug or fidler.

Marcin

  • HTTP header size problem

We have been using weblogic to serve the jnlp for a while now (there is a servlet that generates jnlp and sends to client) without any problems. Yesterday the following error occurred for the first time and the server stopped working. Does anyone have a clue as to in which situation can the header size exceed this limit? After restarting the server, it started working properly again.
weblogic.socket.MaxMessageSizeExceededException: [Incoming HTTP request headers of size 4129 bytes  exceeds the configured maximum of 4096 bytes]
    at weblogic.socket.MuxableSocketHTTP.incrementBufferOffset(MuxableSocketHTTP.java:111)
    at weblogic.socket.JavaSocketMuxer.processSockets(JavaSocketMuxer.java:245)
    Thanks.

My first reaction was that if you are using version protocol, and if you had many versions of some resources in the cache, maybe the request from java web start kept growing with each version.
    http://xxx.com/yyy/zzz.jar version="1.9"&current_version="1.1"&current_version="1.2"&current_version="1.3"...
but in that case can't see how restarting the server would help.

  • Oracle (Apache) HTTP Server - Default Header Size limitation

Does the Oracle HTTP Server have a http header size limitation? If so, what is the maximum size allowed for http headers? Can it be changed, and how?
Which version of Apache shipped with AS 9.0.4? I've been trying to find the answer to my questions in the Apache 1.3 documentation, but I'm not having any luck.
Let me explain my problem. We're using Vintela's Single Sign-On library for authentication in our java applications. Recently we ran into a problem where a user was not being granted access to the application. Much debugging occured, eventually we had to open a trouble ticket with Vintela. They suggested it might be a http header size limitation and to check the configuration for the web cache and apache. We easily found the configuration options for the web cache, but are still looking for apache.
We've by-passed the web cache and accessed the HTTP server directly and we are still experiancing the same problem.
To keep this message short and concise, I've omitted most of our troubleshooting, we're pretty sure the problem is related to a HTTP header size limitation.

One trick I saw the Oracle guys do is telnet to the httpd port and manually type in an HTTP request.
Perhaps ask the Vintela people for a test string that you can paste in a telnet window to test if the server handles it correctly.
Also, you can put Apache in a sort of debug mode as well using the AS Console. I can't remember, but I think this may show the entire http request including the headers.

  • Max Header size

    Hi,
I am running WebLogic 9.2 on Windows. I wanted to know how to increase the Max HTTP Header size for the server instance. I know how to do it in Tomcat (server.xml), but never done this with weblogic before.
Any pointers would be a great help!

  • Soap receiver - owerwrite default http header fields

    Hi,
I'm using the soap receiver adapter in nosoap mode.
How can I owerwrite the default settings for the header fields in the http request?
The soap adapter will automatically set content-type = application/xml.
I would like for example set "text/xml".
    Thanks,
    Bela

    Dear Mohan,
I tryed with the keep headers option but it didn't change anything to the HTTP header fields.
In the documentation we have the following : Keep Headers
If you want to include the header of the XI message in the Web service message, set the indicator.
Does it mean that I have to create a HTTP header section in the XI message??? Do you have an example?
    Best regards,

  • OSB Http Transport Custom Authenticatiion (X509 in Http header)

    Hello!
I'm trying to solve this case. We have F5 Load balancer that terminates SSL Connections From client to the OSB. When terminating the SSL, the LB adds the clients certificate into headers of the Http request going to OSB.
OSb proxy service is configured to use custom authentication with token type X509 (only choice in the OSB console).
What happens when I send the request to OSB, is that I get http code 401 (unauthorized) this error on server log:
    ####<Sep 27, 2011 3:08:05 PM EEST> <Error> <WliSbTransports> <appserver02> <MANSERV02> <[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '0' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <<anonymous>> <> <> <1317125285598> <BEA-381327> <Transport-level custom token identity assertion failed
    java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.String cannot be cast to [Ljava.security.cert.X509Certificate;
The HTTP header sent to OSB is in the messages below.
It has also been wihotu the BEGIN CERTIFICATE and END CERTIFICATE lines with same results.
    Can somebody help me in:
    a) Should the certificate be sent in what form from LB to OSB.
    b) How should the OSB/WLS be configured for this to work?
    OSB version is 10.3.1.
    Request to the server is:

This actually just trashes the entire idea of terminating SSL in the load balancer.
    >
Not necessarily. Although direct HTTP request to WebLogic is redirected to HTTPS enabled port, you can still use this settings with WebLogic plugin. I'm not aware of your deployment, but I use Apache plugin for WebLogic, terminate SSL on Apache and I'm still able to send requests authenticated by certificate from client through HTTPS.
I don't know about F5, but I guess there should be similar feature as well.

  • SSO to other apps via HTTP header variable

We are on NW EP6.0 SP16. We need to add the "user id" as http header variable so that other apps which are non SAP can access our header variable and log on with that user id. Is this available by default? Or we want to achieve this how best we can achieve this.
We can use the code to get the user id and add it to header variable. If we use this route which is the jsp page we need to add the code?
    Thanks

    Hi,
we can you login modules provided by SAP to accomplish this.. you can use header variable authentication login module to acheive your requirement.
      please refer: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/8f/ae29411ab3db2be10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm

  • Which OAM setting for passing values in HTTP header to application

Experts, what is the setting in OAM 11gR2 that is set to pass a userid pulled from a LDAP directory (which is already configured with OAM) as a HTTP Header to an application.
This is typically in cases where OAM is protecting or providing to protected resources on a Web Server or application.
Is this setting (in OAM) by default set to userid? I wanted to know exactly where and how to set this value in OAM Console settings.

In the protected resource policy and protected authorization policy in the responses tab set parameters to return headers for example if you want to return userid under name set header name like user_name, type header and the value as $user.userid. By default I guess OAM_REMOTE_USER is set in the http headers which contains the user id.

  • ESB requires "SOAPAction" to be set in HTTP header?

I'm trying to insert an ESB flow between an existing web service and client. The service and client were previously built with Apache Axis.
By generating an appropriate WSDL (doc/wrapped rather than Axis' default RPC style) for the existing service, I'm able to connect the ESB to the service.
The problem is that the existing client (built using Axis) sets the SOAPAction in the HTTP header to empty (SOAPAction: ""), and the ESB appears to require this to be set to the desired operation. If this is a hard requirement, then I can't directly connect the existing client to the ESB flow.
So, the question is whether it's possible to have the ESB relax the requirement for the SOAPAction header. And if so, how?
If I can't get the ESB to accept SOAP requests with an empty SOAPAction, then I'll have to create a custom adapter or insert an additional proxy layer (yuk). Anyone else have any suggestions?

This is all done automatically by FB.
Just to try something out I just now made a simple app with a label only and tried to upload to Google... FAILED!!!!
"Market requires versionCode to be set to a positive 32-bit integer in AndroidManifest.xml"
LOL, FB can't even create this. :-/

  • BC Ecommerce SOAP Error: Server did not recognize the value of HTTP Header SOAPAction

I am trying to add a product to an ecommerce site with this soap action: Product_UpdateInsert
I have followed this very brief instruction: https://jollyrogers.worldsecuresystems.com/catalystwebservice/catalystecommercewebservice. asmx?op=Product_UpdateInsert
I have a html page in a secure area with a jQuery ajax soap script.
I get the this error when I run the script:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"><soap:Body><soap:Fault><faultcode>soap:Client</faultcode><faultstring>Server did not recognize the value of HTTP Header SOAPAction: https://jollyrogers.worldsecuresystems.com/CatalystDeveloperService/CatalystEcommerceWebse rvice/Product_UpdateInsert.</faultstring><detail /></soap:Fault></soap:Body></soap:Envelope>
I have also tried to add a header with the Soap action with the beforeSend in the ajax call.
This must have been solved before I suppose?

  • Make process manger send additional http header when querying WSDL ?

    Hello,
is there a possibility to send an additional, custom http header when
process manager reads WSDL from a webserver.
Backgrund info: all our WSDLs are hosted on a special webserver which
needs this field. Changing to another kind of repository is not an option.
It would be nice if we could add some parameter to the appserver or domain
configuration to add this field as a default for each request.
Note that we don´t need the http field if we call partnerLinks. It´s only required for
    WSDL-query (= the URLs given in bpel.xml / </partnerLinkBinding> )
    Thanks in advance
    Bernd

    Hello Aartjan,
    About the tool:
You could use wireshark (just an example).
    About the header part:
Can you share your code or a simplification of it (Project and files [vi's..]) that allows me to test/reproduce/see what's going on?
To know what causes the issue we need to see your code.

  • How to read http  header from Forms

    Hi,
I have a forms application deployed on 10g AS. We are planning to integrate Oracle Identity management with our forms application. Currently, I access my forms application with an url, say http://hostname/forms/frmservlet?config=test. And, I get a Signon form, where I capture the logon and pwd, and specific to the user credential, I show another form. By integrating my appln with Identity management, I would be protecting my resource in the oracle access system, the WebGate component will do the backend authentication process along with the access server and the directoy service. Upon successful authentication, the DN form the LDAP repository (lets say the userid of my forms application) for the user is returned to the WebGate as http header information/cookie by the Access System. Now without altering the code in frmservlet Servlet, I need to capture the http header info (which contains the userid for the forms application of the user) in my default Signon form. How can I capture this?
    Can someone please help
    Regards,
    Suresh

  • Errors with Resource Adapter with data source as "http header"

    hi Team,
The objective was to create a ResourceAdapter that will get accountid from http-header and automatically log me in. More like Siteminder, Tivoli Access Mgr.
In the adapter's "prototype.xml", I added this line.
    "<AuthnProperty name='sauid' displayName='UserID in From Browser' formFieldType='text' isId='true' dataSource='http header'/>
    I enable pass-through authn for "user-interface" app.
My test passes, when I login to "/idm/user". I am not prompted for uid/pwd instead I am
transparently logged and presented with self-service page, aka single-sign-on. so far so good.
But, I have an issue when when I login to /idm (not /idm/user) as configurator and then try to create a new user.....I donot see the set password fields in modify.jsp. This issue is only apparent if I set enable pass-through for user-interface. If I reset the user interface to default, which is userid/pwd, then I do see set-password-fields in modify.jsp.
Any leads on why this could be happening?

    Hi Asam,
If we want to create a parameter depend on another dataset, we can additional create or add the dataset, embedded or shared, that has a query that contains query variables. Then use the option that “Get values from a
query” to get available values. For more details, please see:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd283107.aspx

  • Load Balancing with ACE using HTTP Header information

    Hello,
I am trying to setup a class-map using http loadbalance match-all.
What I want to do is check for the HTTP Host and if it doesnot match the http referer than go to server farm A. if it does match then go to server farm B.
My problem is the host can be serveral different values as well as the referer. Can you setup varibales in the ACE so I can store the value from http host and compare it against http referer?
    Thanks
    Mike C.

It should be like this (If you want to use separate class maps for referrer & Host).
    class-map type http loadbalance match-any site1-HostHDR
    2 match http header Host header-value ".*site1.com"
    class-map type http loadbalance match-any site1-Referer
    2 match http header Referer header-value "http://site1.*"
    class-map type http loadbalance match-any site2-HostHDR
    2 match http header Host header-value ".*site2.com"
    class-map type http loadbalance match-any site2-Referer
    2 match http header Referer header-value "http://site2.*"
    class-map type http loadbalance match-all Site1-policy
    2 match class-map site1-HostHDR
    3 match class-map site1-Referer
    class-map type http loadbalance match-all Site2-policy
    2 match class-map site2-HostHDR
    3 match class-map site2-Referer
    policy-map type loadbalance http first-match Site1
    class Site1-policy
    serverfarm SFarm-A
    class Site2-policy
    serverfarm SFarm-A
    class class-default
