Defining own zoom in & out keyboard shortcuts

I have been looking for a decent PDF viewer with tabs for awhile and have found Dioretsa. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dioretsa/id411422230?mt=12 It's pretty great for everything except I'm having problems with the keyboard shortcuts for zoom in and zoom out. I want the behavior to be the same as in most of my programs: [Command and =] for Zoom In and [Command and -] for Zoom Out, both WITHOUT having to use the Shift key.
In the program the default Zoom In and Zoom Out shortcuts are shown in the picture below. They REQUIRE me to use [Command and Shift and =] and [Command and Shift and -] for zooming in.
This annoyed me so I wanted to define my own keyboard shortcuts under Keyboard preferences:
In Dioretsa, it now looks like this:
Zoom In now works as expected, without needing Shift. However, for Zooming out it doesn't work! I still need to push Shift.
I noticed how for Zoom Out the hypthen is BOLD here! In Keyboard Preferences it is not! Also you'll notice that there is no Shift key in the default Zoom Out shortcut in Diotretsa!
This behavior is really bugging me! Can anyone help? I tried setting Zoom Out to [Command and 0] and this works fine without having to use shift!

Another thing you can try, if you aren't already aware of it, is to put the mouse cursor in whatever you wish to magnify, then hold down the Control key and scroll the mouse ball upwards. Do the same but scroll it downwards to reduce the screen image to normal size. This works on everything on the screen. Takes a little getting used to but I find it quick and handy for a fast look at something too small to see otherwise.

ya, thanks, already 'discovered' that one by accident...so many shortcuts to learn!!!

  • Is there a way to define Ctrl-Tab as a keyboard shortcut?

    SQL Dev 4.1EA2 / MacOS
    I want to bind the MacOS standard Ctrl-Tab / Shift-Ctrl-Tab to next/previous window, but when I try to the Tab keypress gets taken as a window navigation and it tabs onto the Help box:
    If it can't be done through the UI, can I set it directly in the config file?
    Thanks

    Thanks Gianni Ceresa. On my config I needed a slightly different syntax, changing TAB to [9]. This is what I ended up changing in ~/.sqldeveloper/system4.1.0.18.37/o.ide.12.2.1.0.42.150219.1051/settings.xml:
                  <Item class="oracle.javatools.util.Pair">
                      <first class="java.lang.String">Ide.NEXT_EDITORFRAME_CMD_ID</first>
                      <second class="oracle.ide.keyboard.KeyStrokes">
                         <data>
                            <Item class="javax.swing.KeyStroke">control [9]</Item>
                         </data>
                      </second>
                   </Item>
                   <Item class="oracle.javatools.util.Pair">
                      <first class="java.lang.String">Ide.PREV_EDITORFRAME_CMD_ID</first>
                      <second class="oracle.ide.keyboard.KeyStrokes">
                         <data>
                            <Item class="javax.swing.KeyStroke">shift control [9]</Item>
                         </data>
                      </second>
                   </Item>
    But now nothing happens when I press Ctrl-Tab, until I press Tab again (with ctrl still held) when I get this popup menu:
    I can tab back and forth on the list to choose the doc I want -- but this is not the immediate & responsive interaction that I'm looking to replicate - quickly flicking between tabs that are open, just as one would with eg. Chrome.

  • Pages '09 zoom keyboard shortcut not working

    Hi,
    I am trying to zoom using keyboard shortcuts in Pages 09. The default keyboard shortcuts are supposedly 'Command >' and 'command <'.
    However, one of the shortcuts brings up my general preference window and the other does not do anything at all. Does anyone have a suggestion for getting the zoom in/out keyboard shortcuts to work?
    Thanks.

    JPL123,
    To enter the > or < symbol, it is necessary to use the shift key.
    See if Shift-Command-> and Shift-Command-< works for you.

  • Adobe Reader 9 keyboard shortcuts broken?

    The zoom in and zoom out keyboard shortcuts (CTRL "+" and CTRL "-")that have been working since forever have now stopped working! It seems somewhat inexplicably as CTRL + NUMPAD 0 and CTRL + NUMPAD 1 now have those functions.
    What is going on? What did the software designers think? Where can you customize your keyboard shortcuts to get the old, logical ones, back?
    Grateful for any thoughts.

    I'm quite angry, too. I used to use CTRL+1 to zoom to 100% very, very often. Now CTRL+1 zooms out and even worse, there's no new shortcut for zooming to 100%. I'm forced to switch to mouse now which costs really much time. Who came up with this stupid idea?

  • Keyboard shortcut not working - nonbreaking hyphen - help

    Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    I can't get the keyboard shortcut for nonbreaking hyphen to work. I can get the nonbreaking hyphen to insert if I insert it via the type menu but menus are such time wasters. I have even tried to make a new and different keyboard shortcut for nonbreaking hyphen and it will still not work. Any ideas of what needs to be corrected/purged/smashed with a hammer to get this to work?
    Thanks in advance for any help
    Running InDesign CS3 5.0.2 on a PowerMac 2x2.66Ghz dual Core Intel Xenon, OS X 10.5.2, 2gigs ram 667 Mhz, and it sits on a crumby looking desk but I don't think the desk is the problem. ;)

    Sigh. I figured out the problem. But thank you M Blackburn. Your response got me thinking about other shortcuts. Sure enough it was Universal Access that was causing the conflict. I must have hit command-option-8 at some point to turn on Zoom in Universal Access which then uses command-option-dash for the zoom out feature. Since I am already zoomed out nothing happened when I tried that key combination. Once I turned off that Zoom feature my keyboard shortcut in InDesign worked again.
    Phew.
    Thank you

  • Cannot get Keyboard Shortcuts or create new

    After updating to iOS 7.0.6 my iPhone 5S lost all keyboard shortcuts.
    I am currently not able to get them from iCloud or even create new ones. After saving a new one it does not appear under the shortcuts and is not working with the keyboard.
    I have tried suggestions on the following link http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3991 as well as resetting iCloud and restarting the phone multiple times.
    Any suggestions would be welcome at this point.
    Thank you.

    Ok, good news, here is a solution that works!!
    This I have tested individually (to confim) with my 2 iphones and the iPad that wouldn't sync properly keyboard shortcuts via iCloud. You can do the below for all your device at once, too.
    Go here and follow the instructions (easy):  http://allezxandre.clarify-it.com/d/dhvzkz
    if you backup and restore via the above method, none of your settings/apps will be deleted, everything stays intact
    After restoring, turn off "Documents and Data" under your iCloud settings and hard reset devices (home + lock)
    Then log into icloud.com, go to Account Settings, Advanced, click on Reset Documents and Data
    Turn on "Documents and Data" in your iCloud Settings (device) and again reboot
    Check "Documents and Data" setting, status may have changed (on/off)
    You may have to repeat 4. and 5. - I had to with one of the iPhone as the status would have a mind of it's own, but eventually the keyboard shortcuts will be back. On all devices.
    The above takes roughly an hour with all the backups, restores etc. BUT it's non intrusive, ie. your device data and settings aren't touched!

  • Timeline buttons should have keyboard shortcuts

    Timelines tools such as Center Frame, Onion Skin, Edit Multiple Frames, and 'marker range' should appear in their own category in the Keyboard Shortcuts menu.
    I use the timeline as a constant part of my animation process. The buttons are small, and a keyboard shortcut would sometimes be more effective.

    You have to hold down the alt key while typing in th code.  So, for the degrees symble, I hold down Alt and type 0176 and I get °  It works fine in Photoshop.

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut for zooming out my parents' computer's desktop

    I did not witness what happened, but apparently my brother ctrl+scrolled up(and zoomed all the way in) and my mother has been trying to figure out how to zoom it out. We have a Mighty Mouse, but it can not scroll down for some strange reason(It's broken). We somehow got it to zoom all the way out, but we have no clue how we did it. Is there a quick keyboard shortcut to zoom the screen out all the way in case it happens again(or in case I make some video that requires me to zoom in and focus on XCode and I later want to zoom out, seeing as my mother fixed her preferences to not allow it to zoom in)? If so, what is it? Is there also a keyboard shortcut to zoom in, in case we turn scrolling off altogether?

    In the System Preference> Universal Access> panel, you can reverse the
    results of an accidental setting found through a random keyboard command.
    • Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1343
    Or, just keyboard: *The use of Option-Command-8 is said to Turn On/Off Zoom*.
    Using a standard USB mouse, be it an old one-button Apple USB or a newer
    two-button PC mouse (no drivers should be needed) you could get past the
    immediate issue of the Mighty Mouse's scroll button problem.
    The Mighty Mouse probably has dust & debris inside the roller-ball assembly.
    There have been some instructions (on how to open/clean & reseal it) online.
    If you attempt to do this, be sure you have a working alternative mouse first.
    *Cleaning Mighty Mouse* involves some skill, dexterity, tools, glue, tedium & time:

    In any event...

  • Liquify Filter PS CS5: Zooming Out Glitch in Keyboard Shortcut?

    I've been regularly encountering a problem using the keyboard shortcut for Zoom Out ("Cmd -") when using the Liquify filter and wonder whether this problem has been encountered by other users. "Cmd -" has the opposite effect of its intended purpose, and instead of zooming out, leads to zooming in.
    I've tried the new Liquify plug-in beta that Adobe was kind enough to provide so quickly (recognizing that it was designed to address other issues) but the problem recurs with it as well. "Cmd +"  for zoom in works as expected. Although I'm using a French keyboard, these two keyboard shortcuts work as intended elsewhere in PS CS5 and in CS4 both generally and specifically with the Liquify filter. This applies for systems running Mac OS 10.6.3 and 10.6.4.

    Yes, I tried scrapping my preferences, but to no avail. I should perhaps have specified that my program runs in International English, but the keyboard is French. However, this is the first time using PS that this problem has arisen.

  • Mac upgrade to Yosemite, Adobe Indesign CS5 keyboard shortcuts not working -  t for text  - z for zoom - v for pointer etc

    So I upgraded my MACBOOK PRO (Retina, Mid 2012) 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i7
    to MAC OS X YOSEMITE
    Adobe Indesign CS5 generally works with some very annoying bugs.
    All major keyboard shortcuts that use a single key command have stopped working. and these happen to be the main ones I use all the time for editing...
    t for text
    z for zoom
    v for pointer
    It's annoying because now I have to keep  going back to the tool bar to change my cursor selection. It's just slowing me down.
    Annoying but workable.
    Has anyone else go this issue?
    An update or fix would be greatly appreciated.

    WARNING!!!
    I was contacted by  apparently a third party supplier called Adobe Systems via this forum
    They logged in to my computer via team viewer
    installed utorrent
    and proceed to download a cracked version of adobe cs6
    in the mean time saying on skype that Adobe no longer has Adobe CS6 on their server.
    This seemed very OFF to me and I disconnected the skype (and blocked Adobe Systems) and disconnected TeamViewer
    If I wanted a cracked version of Adobe CS6 I'm very capable of doing this kind of thing my self
    However I run a business I want to have a legitimate licensed copy of the software running for my staff.
    They were offering a fully licensed version of a Adobe Master Suite CS6 with my own unique ID for USD$400
    Again very OFF considering the upgrade from Adobe from Indesign CS5 to CS6 is almost AUD$1600
    I don't know how they got my email address from this forum but it seems that the adobe forum has been hacked!
    you have been warned!

  • How to define a keyboard shortcut that includes a function key?

    I was trying to set up a keyboard shortcut for a Service in Sys.Prefs -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Shortcuts and discovered that if I attempt to use a function key as a part of the shortcut that it disappears out of the key entry field as soon I click off the item. The keys I press (including an "F#" representing the function key that I've pressed) show up briefly in the field but then go away.
    Entering keystrokes that do not include a function key seem to work fine.
    Function keys are used as a part of many of the default keyboard shortcuts. So is there maybe a trick for entering a function key in the pref pane as part of a user defined shortcut that I just don't know about? Or is this maybe a bug in the pref pane? Or any other explanation for what I'm seeing?
    This is on a Snow Leopard 10.6.3 machine.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Function keys are regular keystrokes, just like for letters, numbers, or punctuation marks. Thus, just like the others, you can use them only by themselves or in combination with modifier keys (shift, command, control, & option) in keyboard shortcuts.
    IOW, a valid shortcut would be F4 or command + F4 but not F4 + any regular key.
    It's good to know that regular keys are not allowed with function keys, but it doesn't explain the problem. I initially tried using command + various function keys and when that wouldn't "stick" I tried just various function keys which also wouldn't work.
    And like I said... it looks like it's going to accept the key(s) I press by showing the textual representation of the key in the key field (such as "F4" or "F5") but as soon as I click outside the text field it vanishes.
    The problem was mentioned to me by another person and I was able to duplicate it, so it's not just me or my machine. Just out of curiosity, does it work for you?

  • Zoom In Keyboard shortcut not working

    Hi Guys,
    I'm in Japan, using a US keyboard mac in English.
    In FCP X, newest trial version, 10.1.1., I cannot get the keyboard shortcut to zoom in to work.
    Zooming out, (command plus minus) does work.  But not command&plus sign.  I get a blip sound.
    Any ideas?  It's driving me nuts.  I would appriciate any comments.
    Thank you very much.
    Sincerely,
    Chris

    Sometimes, Keyboard issues can be solved by ensuring keyboard is set to the standard defaults ...
    FinalCutPro>Commands>Customise and select default.
    At least you can see how the keys are mapped.

  • Zoom-in keyboard shortcut not working in illustrator CC

    I am able to use the keyboard shortcut control+minus to zoom out, but control+plus/= to zoom in has stopped working in illustrator CC. (It works fine in illustrator CS6.) Any idea how to fix this?

    Never mind. I was using a custom key shortcut file, which apparently caused the problem. Using the Adobe default it works.

  • How do I set the keyboard shortcut for zoom tool to be r-clicking the mouse?

    I want to have the r-click of my mouse be the zoom tool like in Quark Xpress. Can I make the Z shortcut to choosing the Zoom tool instead a r-click? I know how to get into keyboard shortcuts - just dont know what to type in for the new shortcut to make it a r-click. right now its 2 steps to zoom rather than in quark 1. not that I want to go back. lol.
    also, while were talking about migration differences and extra steps, is there a way I can hide guides and set overprint preview in one step? (this is something I do often and was just a simple F7 in quark)
    so these are just 2 things that take 2 steps in ID but one in quark. not that I want to go back. lol

    OK, I've been doing this since CS2 with no need for a script. To hide guides and show preview...
    1) Go to 'Keyboard Shortcuts'
    2) Go to 'Product Area - Tools'. Yes, you'd think it would be in Views! But the buttons for this is at the bottom of the Tool Bar.
    3) Go to 'Commands: Toggle view setting between default and preview'
    4) Click your cursor inside 'New Shortcut' and hit the key you want or type it in. I choose the unused F2 key
    5) Click the 'Assign' button and you are set. Hit the key to switch back and forth.
    As for your mouse Zoom, use Power Zoom as described above or just hold down the Alt/Option button in 'Hand' mode and use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out. Not one step but it works!
    Now you won't miss Quark at all!
