Delayed ServerSocket connect with Linux

Hi,
I encounter a strange problem while starting a SocketServer on Linux.
Thes system is multithreaded and starts usually perfect. But sometimes - after a restart -
it takes up to five minutes to get the SocketServer up. The netstat command shows
that the port is not bound to anything. Are there any system settings I could change?
On Windows this problem never occured. Btw I am using the Socket_Server from the book Holub,
Taming Java Threads.
Thanks for your time.
Tim

I found that the topic was discussed in another forum.
Here's the link with a solution that seems to work:

  • N8 connecting with linux

Has anyone managed to connect the N8 with linux? The microUSB connected didn't make the N8 to show up as mass memory as the E65 did - automagically. Using the kubuntu 10.04 the bluetooth connection fails as well (couldn't tell if the fault was by the kde bluetooth framework or the N8 or both, though).
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

For the record: by upgrading the Kubuntu to 10.10, the bluetooth connection worked out.

  • [SOLVED] No wireless connection with linux-3.2.2-1

After upgrading to linux-3.2.2-1, my wireless connection stopped working. It "connects", but I can't get an IP address through dhcp. Assigning an IP manually doesn't do the trick, I can't even reach the router through ping.
Downgrading to 3.2.1-2 fixes the issue.
I suspect this may be a regression but I couldn't find any information or reports of other people having the same problem anywhere.
I should note that I can establish a working connection when running the new kernel by using an external USB wireless device, so this probably has to do with the modules/drivers of my network card (?).
This is the ouput of some commands when running the new kernel (wlan1 is the device mentioned avobe):

  • Delayed internet connection with iMac

I recently purchased an iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 17" with superdrive, and am having issues with internet browsing. I use a linksys WRT54GS v.4 wireless router with speedbooster to which two other computers are connected, one wirelessly and one directly with ethernet into the router.
The other two computers have no delay issues while browsing but my Mac has unbearably long delay times when bringing up webpages. I am connected wirelessly through airport, but have also tried connecting directly to the router with ethernet which doesn't solve the problem.
However, when connecting directly to the cable modem with the ethernet cable and bypassing the router, there is no problem at all and all webpages come up lickity split. So I know there is something going on with the router and my mac, but the apple support people have said that this particular linksys router is fully compatible with my iMac. I am completely out of ideas, is there anyone that can help please?
    Thanks, marshmelloman

I have the exact same problem, with all of my computers connected to this router (all Windows XP and Mozilla Firefox). I have to hit "refresh" two or three times before it will finally load a web page, even simple ones like www.google.com. It is extremely annoying, and I have not figured out how to fix this. I will post if I figure out a solution to this problem.
If I am downloading a large file and surf the web while downloading, it works fine.

  • Nokia 3500 classic and its connectivity with Linux...

    Hi All,
Can you tell me if nokia 3500 classic can be connected to a linux PC or not?
    I am in a hurry.
    Thank you.

Me too I'm having almost the same problem.I'm from Mauritius.
    My configurations:
    Windows XP Professional SP3
    Phone Model:Nokia 3500 classic
    Cable usedKE-2
    Nokia PC Suite 7.1.18.0
I've got a Nokia 3500 Classic & tried to connect it to my PC,which has Nokia PC Suite 7.1.18.0 installed.
When I connect it to my PC,the PC displays the message "Nokia 3500c connected via USB".
    The grey icon becomes blue/green.
When I click on "Backup",Nokia Content Copier loads. When I click on "Back up the desired phone contents to a backup file which is saved on the PC", I get the message "Failed to open connection to the selected phone.Reconnect your phone and try again."
When I open Nokia PC Sync, it displays "Not connected".
When I start Contacts, it says "Refreshing of contacts failed."
When I open Nokia Communication Centre-Calendar,it displays "The Calendar View could not read the entries from your device".
When I open Nokia Music Manager, somewhere it's written "Nokia 3500c(Not supported)".
When I go on Nokia Image Store,it displays "No supported phones connected".
How come that my mobile appears to be connected to my PC,but applications inside PC Suite do not detect my mobile?

  • Time delay while connecting with listener

I have installed the Application Server relase 2
After I have restarted the system every thing is working fine by when ever the listener attempts to connect to the repository database, the computer CPU usaeg becomes 100% and for about 6 to 7 seconds the computer stops responding and then everything becomes fine. This problem arises whenever there is a attempt to connect to the database. I have tried using tnsping compname
but the same thing happens in that case also.
    I am using win2003 server sp1
Can any one help me in this matter.

  • Not able to connect with AOL account on Linux

I am trying to get connected with an AOL account on linux with my application that is using java mail- 1.4.2. . I am getting following exception:-
    Unable to connect to the host: imap.aol.com . Error -javax.mail.MessagingException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target;

javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
BUT this does not happen with Windows or Mac , there AOL account is successfully connected.
    Following Propertis set :-
Property name : mail.store.protocol, Value :imaps
    Property name : mail.imap.host, Value :imap.aol.com
    Property name : mail.imap.port, Value :993
Property name : mail.imap.partialfetch, value :false

You might want to try upgrading to the latest version of JavaMail (1.4.3), which makes use
of SSL somewhat simpler. Also, the file SSLNOTES.txt included with JavaMail has some
tips for debugging problems such as this, as does the JavaMail FAQ.
Most often this error is caused by not having the appropriate certificates in your local trust
store. The JDK normally comes with the required root certificates, but if you're running in
an application server environment you might be using a different trust store.

  • Not able to connect Azure Linux Virtual Machine with Putty

    Hi,
I am not bale to connect Azure Linux Virtual Machine with Putty... Error shows "Network error: connection timed out".
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Techsol
    Thanks, Kk

    Hi TechSol01,
    Thanks for posting here.
I suggest you to try the below steps
On a computer running a Windows operating system, you might want to use an SSH client such as PuTTY. For more information, see the
    PuTTY Download Page.
On a computer running a Linux operating system, you might want to use an SSH client such as OpenSSH. For more information, see
    OpenSSH.
If it is the endpoint configuration, you can go to the portal and add port 22, (it should already be there by default).
Now if it is locked out of the VM because of the firewall on the VM, which is called iptables , You won't be able to connect to the VM,
If you haven’t configured the port 22. You may have to follow the below steps :
A = Original VM (Inaccessible VM)
B = New VM (New Temp VM)
    1)  Stop VM  A via the Azure management portal
    2) Delete VM A BUT select “keep the attached disks”
    3) Once the lease is cleared, attach the Data Disk from A to VM B via the Azure Portal, Virtual Machines, Select “B”, Attach Disk
    4) On VM “B” eventually the disk will attach and you can then mount it.
    5) Locate the drive name to mount, on VM “B” look in relevant log file note each linux is slightly different.
    grep SCSI /var/log/kern.log (ubuntu)
grep SCSI /var/log/messages (centos, suse, oracle)
    6) Mount the attached disk onto mountpoint /tempmount
    df -h
    mkdir /tempmount
    mount /dev/sdc1 /tempmount
    df –h
    7) Now you should be able to clear the rules set from the configuration file of the firewall, by accessing it
    through /tempmount
Let me know if this works

  • If anyone knows how to connect e7 with linux let m...

sorry guys, it seems that the problems will never end,i just have a problem with my computer because i'm using linux and can't connect it with my phone .which is really not good for nokia,i hope they read what we write because from now on i'll not recomend nokia to any of my friends who wants to get nokia phons,if the company we are using and love won't give us what we are looking for or need then there are no need to have her products, does not deserve us as clients.one can destroy 10. that's what i believe.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Nokia's Ovi Suite (etc.) is as incompatible with Linux as diesel fuel in a petrol car, so let that idea go.  But there are Linux solutions.  For me, I have two 8 GB memory cards, both nearly full with mp3's, and all those songs were installed to the cards using drag-and-drop.  You don't necessarily need a software program, just Mass Storage mode.  I made a folder called "Music" in the root area of the card and moved all the band/singer folders (with individual album folders inside) there.  The Music Player should find them, or manually refresh the database.  The same thing should work for pictures, although there may be some differences between your E7 and my E73.
As for the other functionality, I did a few web searches and found several "Suite" programs like Wammu, Xgnokki, and Nokuntu.  Search these forums for "Ubuntu" and you will find many other similar discussions.  /t5/PC-and-Mac-Software/Nokia-PC-Suite-Ubuntu/td-p/247373 is the one that got me started.  Wammu and Xgnokki should both be available through the Ubuntu Software Center (Applications ->  Ubuntu Software Center, unless they changed the menu layout).  Nokuntu looks really interesting, but you have to get it separately from http://sourceforge.net/projects/nokuntu/ .
Embarrassingly, I have never used any of these programs, so you will have to experiment to see what works.  You won't have full Ovi Suite support, like firmware installs and maps downloads, but it's something.  If you realize that most Linux programmers are university students, or people like you and me, writing software for fun, I think this is quite acceptable.  Not to mention that large companies like Nokia aren't always forthcoming about how their own software works.  Linux can be a chaotic OS, so take it slowly don't expect everything to work as smoothly as commercial software.  If you have specific questions about programs like Wammu, most have their own web site and support system (i.e. http://wammu.eu/support/ ), or you could visit the Ubuntu forums http://ubuntuforums.org/ .  Or you could follow-up here.   I hope that helps!

  • Help with Oracle 10g Client Connectivity from Linux to IBM SAN storage

    Hello Oracle Experts,
This is my first post. My client is having oracle 10g database up and running in IBM SAN storage.
We have some NMS tools running in Red Hat Linux version 5. So, these tools require connectivity to Oracle database which is residing in SAN storage connected with the Fibre cables.
How do I establish the connectivity from Linux to SAN storage. If would be glad if you can explain me the steps and also if there is any pre-installation/post-installation, patches and procedures involved.
If it is IP based network we normally give the IP address of the host running the database server. I have no idea about SAN storage connected with Fibre cable.
Please guide me to establish the connectivity from linux 5 to SAN.
    Thanks.

    RaviShankar.

    Hi Rajesh,
Actually I will not be touching the Oracle instance SAN box directly. I will only access the database from another machine. I my case it is Linux box.
So, my question is how do you make the Oracle Client in Linux box to connect to Oracle instance running in another non ip based machine SAN storage.Install Oracle client on this Linux machine ..
Make sure you have network connectivity from linux machine to database server. You need to connect to server where db instance is running and you need not to bother about SAN storage.
make tns entry into client $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora file.
Use sqlplus to connect to database using client.

  • Wireless Lan connection issue with Linux clients

    Hi
In a large Wireless Lan enviroment for a university, we have 3 WISM moduls attached on a 6k hw - Manged by ACS v6.0.181.0
We recently upgraded the software version of the controllers from 4.x to 7.0.98.0 - the Emergency Image version is 5.2.157.0
Since then, the students with Linux clients have massive connection issue - repeated connection lost in a short time period.
However the students with Windows clients have no problem at all.
The studends report, that their linux clients getting so much of some kind of unnecessary broadcast traffic which can not be handled by the NIC - and the NIC goes down - and this happens all 5-10 minutes.
Affected Linux clients are: Ubuntu v10.10 - also OpenSuse, Fedora and Arch-linx with latest OS version.
Any Idea how I could solve this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help

    Hi Nicolas
Thanks for your reply. The broadcast forwarding is disabled on WLC's.
Pls find below the attached picture, which shows the captured broadcast traffic on a linux client (sent by a student to me).
I'm not sure, if its really only the broadcast traffic, which the linux clients can not handle.
From my point of view, it seems also to be that the linux clients are somehow disadvantaged among the other clients like windows or mac, if they all trying to get a wireless connection.
But the fact is only the linux clients are affected - and this happens to the linux clients only in our wireless infrastructure.
Windows or Mac clients have no such problem at all

Data Mover Bootstrap and Application Designer can log into Database instance successfully. My procedure to run PIA is below:
Step 1: start Oracle Database Server and LISTENR is listening.
Step 2: start Application Server ./psadmin and 8 processes are started.
Step 3: start WebLogic Server PIA /opt/PT8.53/webserv/PT853/bin/startPIA.sh
In Browser, http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html comes up successfully. But when sign in using UserID PSADMIN and password "myname", I get the error message in Browser as below:
The application server is down at this time.
CHECK APPSERVER LOGS. THE SITE BOOTED WITH INTERNAL DEFAULT SETTINGS, BECAUSE OF: bea.jolt.ServiceException: Invalid Session

Regarding Application Designer, both Database Type "Oracle" and Connection Type "Application Server", UserID "PSADMIN" and password "myname" login successfully. I view TUXLOG (current Tuxedo log file) and its last screen is below:

I think the error is indicated in TUXLOG file "ERROR: Jolt client (ip address 192.168.196.102) does not have proper application password". The application password "myname" in Browser http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html page is not working. I use the same password "myname" to login Data Mover Bootstrap mode, Application Designer, and Application Server psadmin configuration successfully. I have tried a few other passwords in Browser http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html page but not working.
    My question is:
How to solve Sign In issue on http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html that is "ERROR: Jolt client (ip address 192.168.196.102) does not have proper application password" ?
    Thanks.

    Dear Nicolas,
Hello. I have used the same password for "DomainConnectPswd" in the file Configuration.properties with that for Application Server setting. Eventually, UserID PSADMIN sign in http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html successfully. PeopleTools 8.53 runs correctly in Browser.
It seems that whether upgrade Oracle Linux 5.0 to the latest 5.10 does not have effect !
I am very grateful to your great help for this installation of PT8.53 with Linux and Oracle Database !
