Delete IFS file with sql command
Hi
Is it possible to remove a file from IFS using an sql command? If so, what is it?
Thanks
Hugo
No, this is not possible, nor is it supported. You may use the Java API to delete a file.

How to delete the file with space in name
Hi
I want to delete the file "test ex.txt" file.
i run the following command in command prompt.i can delete the file successfully.
/bin/rm -f /mnt/"test ex.txt"
I want to run the command from java.So i am using the following code
String cmd = "/bin/rm -f /mnt/\"test ex.txt\"";
Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
process = rt.exec(cmd);
The file was not deleted.
How to delete the file with space in name?
Help meUse the form of exec that takes an array of command + args.
arr[0] = "/bin/rm"
arr[1] = "-f"
arr[2] = "/home/me/some directory with spaces";Or use ProcessBuilder, which is the preferred replacement for Runtime.exec, and which Runtime.exec calls. -

Problem with loading file with SQL loader
i am getting a problem with loading a file with SQL loader. The loading is getting
terminated after around 2000 rows whereas there are around 2700000 rows in the file.
The file is like
919879086475,11/17/2004,11/20/2004
919879698625,11/17/2004,11/17/2004
919879698628,11/17/2004,11/17/2004
the control file, i am using is like:-
load data
infile 'c:\ran\temp\pps_fc.txt'
into table bm_05oct06
fields terminated by ","
(mobile_no, fcal, frdate )
I hope, my question is clear. Please help, in solving the doubt.

Doubt with SQL loader file wih spaces
Are the fields delimited with spaces or with commas?
Perhaps they are a mixture of delimiters and that is where the error is coming in? -
How to use "choose file with prompt" command?
I need to use "choose file with prompt" command and I want give user possibility choose ONLY images (jpeg, png, gif). So, I write like this:
choose file with prompt "Please, choose images for processing..." of type {"JPEG Image"}
But this doesn't work! - All files (including jpegs) are dimmed, and user can't choose any....
So, how can I filter JPEGs, PNGs and GIFs?I have found, that most of images on my computer has missing file_type, I don't know why..... so "type identifier of (info for (choose file))" also doesn't work properly.
The only one way that 100% works is use Uniform Type Identifier (UTI) -- details here: http://www.huw.id.au/code/fileTypeIDs.html
thanks.

I opened iCal back up, all the dates were blank, so i started to type events into a date.
As soon as I started to double click a date to type an event, magically all the events in all the months reappeared.
I'm still puzzled why it acted this way and if I did delete something that caused it to act this way. -

Loading huge file with Sql-Loader from Java
Hi,
I have a csv file with aprox. 3 and a half million records.
I load this data with sqlldr from within java like this:
String command = "sqlldr userid=" + user + "/" + pass
+ "@" + service + " control='" + ctlFile + "'";
System.out.println(command);
if (System.getProperty("os.name").contains("Windows")) {
p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /C " + command);
} else {
p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("sh -c " + command);
}it does what I want to, load the data to a certain table, BUT it takes too much time, Is there a faster way to load data to an oracle db from within java?

Hello Charles,
The SQL Syntax especially for DDL commands are different between MS SQL Server and Advantage Database, so you have to modify them to get them work.
As David already wrote we don't have a stored procedure "sp_CreateIndex90" in SQL Server, you may remove these commands, and we also don't have a data type "Logical", next could be "bit"

Inadvertently deleted user folder with terminal command - HELP!
Hi
I was using terminal to delete my hosts file using the following command:
sudo rm -rf /Users/xxx/.ssh/known_hosts
Unfortunalely, I misplaced a space after the username, and deleted most of my user files. I thought something weird was happening when all the desktop icons dissappeared, and restarted immediately.
Now I am missing all of my docs, and desktop files. Some things are preserved, like itunes library and iPhoto library. My backup is over 6 months old.
I took out the hdd, put in an external enclosure, and hooked it up to another SL machine. I ran stellar phoenix overnight, but the recovered files all seem to be weird system files, mostly .plist files, nothing recent.
Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply.
My main backup is over 6 months old.
then I suggest you start backing up regularly. there is no excuse not to do it.
I use dropbox to backup the stuff I'm working on at the moment, but not the older stuff.
I found it strange that I could not recover anything with Stellar Phoenix. Is there something special about deleting using terminal? Does it completely erase the file?
not unless you use srm which you didn't. but NOT data recover software as you tried is perfect nor can it be expected to be. when you delete a file either from finder or from terminal it's unlinked from the directory but the actual space it's stored on the drive is not immediately overwritten by new data. that's what makes data recovery even possible. however, from that moment on it's treated as free space and can be overwritten at any instant. as soon as this happens data recovery becomes impossible. the only true way to protect your data is to *back up*.
I'll try Data Rescue 3. -
Double click to open .sql files with sql developer on mac osx
hi,
I am trying to double click a .sql file and open it with SQL Developer on Mac OSX lion. I have associated .sql files to SQL Developer. On clicking the file it opens the SQL developer application but does not open the actual .sql file. Any ideas?
ThanksHello,
Did you find any solution to your problem ? My SQL Developer worked fine and could open additional SQL files. Now it only opens the first one when starting SQL Developer. Additionnal files cannot be opened. Even running sqldeveloper.exe from command line with a SQL file as parameter doesn't help.
I'm on Windows 7, 64 bit, but the environment may not necessarily be the cause.

Hello all,
I don't know what I wanted to do with this command but I did it ^^
# rm YYYYY.data Whitecastle
rm: cannot remove `Whitecastle': No such file or directory
After this clever action I can't see the YYYYY.data file in the folder, is it still on my HDD or gone forever?
Thanks in advance.

Nice to know that, i never thought about it
Thanks
sure thing! I believe you can modify your ~/.bashrc to change the behavior of rm to reflect a trash can...I'm not sure if this works in Arch as I havent tried it here - but it *SHOULD* of course.
make a trash directory first:
cd ~/
mkdir .Trash
~/.bashrc:
alias rm="mv ~/.Trash"
If you now rm a file or directory as the user with the new .bashrc, it should go to trash. log out and back in or reboot first though. additionally, rm now behaves like mv - keep this in mind! If for example, ~/.Trash contains a file named "foobar" and you delete "foobar" from somewhere else on your system...mv now overwrites (replaces) the foobar that was already in the trash with the foobar you just moved. obviously, the above solution isnt perfect, but its a quick and dirty way to save your butt from time to time.
If you hunt around I'm sure you could find a script to more intelligently handle deletions and put an alias in for rm to call that from /usr/bin or something.
you can also edit ~/.bashrc to contain
alias rm = 'rm -i'
which will interactively ask for confirmation...personally - this is a PITA if you ask me - but many people like it. additionally, i just got in the habit to confirm anything and then in the case that I did type the wrong thing, i confirmed it anyway. a bit of windows dialog syndrome, if you will... haha
handling your deletion all comes down to how careful you can be...hopefully one of the above suggestions helps save you further turmoil down the line

Trying to delete a file with Powershell script ran by a service but issues with uac
I'm having issues with a script that will delete a file on the C-Drive of a server. the script looks like this:
param(
[Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][string]$hostname
$StrFileName = "C:\Program Files\NSClient++\nsclient.log"
$LogLocal="c:\Nagios\naf_delete_nscp_log_file.log"
$Date = Get-Date -Format "yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss"
"$date : NSClient logfile deletion requested on $hostname" | Out-File -filepath $LogLocal -Append
If (Test-Path "$strFileName"){
Remove-Item $strFileName -Force
$Date = Get-Date -Format "yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss"
"$date : NSClient logfile deleted on $hostname" | Out-File -filepath $LogLocal -Append
The script is initiated from a Nagios quick action which will use nrpe to pass the host as parameter and make the nscp service, which runs as local system, run it. It works perfectly on servers that have no uac enabled, but I can't get it to work on servers
with uac. I've tried numerous options, but none seem to work. Any tips or advice to get this working with Powershell v2 code on servers with uac enabled is highly appreciated.
Thanks.
WillemHi Willem,
one thing to note: I don't see why your script itself has a hostname parameter.
One way around UAC has always been the Windows Task Scheduler. If you register a task as System run and triggered by an event, you can simply call the event locally (which doesn't require admin permissions) and it will perform the task.
I don't know how your Nagios construct works and the script by itself doesn't make much sense. If you want advice on how to do this without resorting to tasks, I'd need to know more about the system you are using.
Cheers,
Fred
