Deploy Developer Forms

hello
i´m having problems with deploying Developer Forms in Portal
problem 1:
i try to create a new url portlet in portal to display the developer form. i paste the link i got when running it from form builder (http://marpolas.marpol.si:8888/forms90/f90servlet?config=delavec1). i have the oc4j instance from forms developer running
when running the portlet i get the error:
load: class oracle.forms.engine.Main not found
any ideas?
problem 2:
i would like to have oc4j instance running forms inside portal, now i have to run the oc4j instance from Forms Developer to get my Forms working.
is the a nice step by step guide to create a new oc4j instance for forms?
Thanks in advance
Marjan

Hi
Are you able to run the forms, if you give the URL Directly in the browser http://marpolas.marpol.si:8888/forms90/f90servlet?config=delavec1
I think it if working independently, then it should work in the portlet too as this portlet is just having a link for the URL.

have a problem in deploying developer forms on linux.
    how do i do that?
    urgent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You must compile a form under Linux.
To do that, you must have Developer/Server for Linux. After installing it, in $ORACLE_HOME/bin there will be a compiler - f60genm

  • Deployment of forms developed on windows in Linux Forms Server

    Please provide me some information,
How to deploy windows developed forms 6i components on Linux Forms Server.
    Thank You
    Jayaprakash

Go to the form's file menu like following
    File > Administration > convert
then convert ur binary file into text. take the text file to linux and do the opposite. convert from text to binary. youve got yourself a deployable .fmb file. compile and run.
By the way, I am facing problem installing dev6i on linux7.2 and linux6.2 . It searches for a lib file libXm.a and libXm.a.so . Can u tell me how can I solve it? I am trying to install Forms on Linux. Should I switch from Red Hat linux to any other linux platform?
I would be much obliged if u could help me.
    Thanx.

  • How to start developing forms with weblogic server???

I am a beginner. I saw someone working on developer 6i and I love the ease so I come to oracle. BUT now I find this weblogic server for desktop applications (forms) too.
    1. Please recommend me a book for developing desktop applications in weblogic server.
    2. Is it possible to use Mysql as database while developing forms in weblogic server?
    Many thanks

I am a beginner. I saw someone working on developer 6i and I love the ease so I come to oracle. BUT now I find this weblogic server for desktop applications (forms) too.You have to keep in mind that Oracle Developer Suite 6i (Forms/Reports) is over 10 years old and was primarily a Client/Server development environment. Yes, a Forms 6i application could be deployed to the web, but infrastruction has changed many times in the 10+ years since Forms 6i was introduced.
    1. Please recommend me a book for developing desktop applications in weblogic server. Are you talking about an Oracle Forms application deployed through the WebLogic application server? If so, take a look at Developing Oracle Forms Applications or Oracle9i Developer: Developing Web Applications with Forms Builder. These are older books, but they will give you the basics of Oracle Forms development. Once you have the basics of Forms Development, then you can refer to the product documentation for specifics on the particular version of Forms you are using:
Oracle Forms 10g Online Book - Contents or <a href="http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/index.htm>Oracle Fusion Middleware Documenation LIbrary</a> and select the Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer option.
{quote2. Is it possible to use Mysql as database while developing forms in weblogic server?{quote
You can use MySQL with your web app only if you are not using Oracle Forms! Oracle Forms will only communicate with an Oracle Database. There are methods available to access data from non-Oracle database, but they involved linking your Oracle Database to the non-Oracle database and accessing the data through the Oracle Database.
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

    Hi Oscar,
Question - are you running your application as a static or
cartridge configuration. Either way, I would advise you to
check the code and codebase params for your applet. This
usually happens if there is a problem with the virtual directory
setting for the java jar's directory. If you are using a
cartridge, you need to check that the jar's directory is set up
on the listener, that this is reflected in the cartridge
parameters (assuming you are using variables), and that your
application is correctly picking up the cartridge at runtime.
The fastest way to check it is to temporarly set up a static
html file and run you application directly - this will give you
a clear indication where the problem lies.

I am developing forms 9i and reports 9i applications WITHOUT APPLICATION SERVER. I HAVE ONLY DEVELOPER SUITE 9i.
I have installed Dev suite 9i on middle tier. Forms services and Reports services are installed with Dev suite 9i.
I develop applications on my desktop and Install them on client machines where no Dev suite or AS installed.
Please mention what is the trouble you are having and I might serve you, if you are having the same problem that I HAD.
