Deploy simple Labview applications without installing the Labview runtime?

[Labview 8.21 - Windows XP]
Hello and a happy new year to all !
I have coded very simple Labview applications that basically read text files (exported from Ms Excel), make some string operations, array sorting and at the end write another text file that is then imported in Ms Access. Now I would like other people from the School parents association to use this application on their own PC but ideally without having to install the Labview run-time;  for various reasons one of them being that they are not administrator of their PC, another reason being that I feel bad to ask them to install 100Mb of programs on their PC to execute my <1Mb applications. All that I can assume is that they have Excel and Access installed on their PC.
I have read some postings on the Forum and in the Knowledge base from which I understand that the only way to use my application without the Labview runtime is to build a shared library that maybe I could then link via a VBA code from inside Excel or Access. But I cannot find any usable example on how to do that practically. And maybe it is not possible.
What is the easiest way to run such very simple Labview compiled applications on a PC that does not have Labview installed? Is Labview not at all built for such use?
Thanks a lot for your help and ideas.
Christophe

You will need to have the runtime installed. There is a lot of other languages that also have the need for there own runtime, but they are commonly installed with the OS, so you don't realize it. Just building a dll won't solve this.
There might be a hack possible, though. People have managed to strip down the required installation and been able to deploy the required parts of the runtime only. If you want to go this way, search on LAVA. But I'm not sure if it works with LV 8.20, and you will need to invest some time to figure out the minimum requirements. But be aware that it is a hack, so it's on your own risk.

  • How can I build a LabView application that uses the 2012 runtime, on a development system with LabView 2013 or 2014 installed?

I need to build a LabView application .exe to run with the 2012 Runtime, for legacy support. I currently have LabView 2013 installed on my development system, and have 2014 available. How can I build an application that uses the 2012 runtime on this development system? Do I have to downgrade to 2012? Thank you.

We have existing customers that have installed our application that was originally built with 2012 (provided by a contractor that is no longer available).  Due to IT regulations, it is far easier to update these customers by simply replacing the .exe file, than creating an install that their IT department must run.
If I have to downgrade to LabView 2012, where can I get the installation for this?

  • Running java application without installing JRE

We try to run Java application without installing JRE, by copying java.exe (and other JRE files) together with our jar file. This does not work.
    Can it be solved?

Can you elaborate on the steps to create a java
    application without installing JRE.
    Regards,
    padmaPadma,
The solution is to deploy my JAR together with JRE files, without running standard JRE installation. This makes possible to simply ensure that my JAR will run with THIS SPECIFIC JRE. This is important from QA point of view. Also, installation of my application does not change configuration of JVMs on the computer.
    The solved problem:
Standard JRE installation may change the default JRE for many Java applets and application on computer. Changing version JRE may lead to some programs misbehaviour (JRE backward compatibility does not always work and different Java versions not always live together well). Thus, some IT departments are very nervous about JRE version change.
Hope, this explains my problem and the solution.

  • Including visa32.dll without installing the complete Pci-MXI cd

    Hi,
I have an application made in Borland C Builder 6. this application inculudes some visa function.
Therefore I need the visa32.dll and NiViSv32.dll in my project.
Because i am developing the application in my room and not in the Lab where we have the VXI Rack, then i don't want to install the CD you deliver call PCI_MXI-2/VXI because there is no need. The problem is that i can't run the program without installing the software in the mentioned CD.Why can't I run my application only using the visa32.dll and NiViSv32.dll.
May be you can tell me if i am missing another file that is deliver with the CD.
    Thanks
    Yair.

Yari - I had the same problem (using MS VS C++). Older versions of visa32.dll (up to the last year or two) also had another dll named NiViIO32.dll in addition to NiViSv32.dll. These three dlls did exactly what you want. The latest visa32.dll doesn't use (depend on) NiViIO32.dll and instead depends on the VISA package. Your best bet (and what I did) is to download the VISA run-time engine (go to ni.com, select "Drivers and Updates" under "Technical Support, and then select the "VISA" Product Line, "VISA Run Time Engine" Software and the VISA Software Version and Operating System you use). It's a lot better than loading the full VISA system and MAX.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to Install Elements 5 Without Installing the Flash Player that is On the Photoshop Elements 5 CD

Having just changed the operating system here from Microsoft Windows XP Pro to Microsoft Windows 7 Pro (64 bit), it is desirable to install the Existing Photoshop Elements 5, Without Installing the Flash Player and Adobe Reader programs on the Elements 5 CD.  The Elements 5 Setup Wizard does not appear to offer an option to "uncheck" or otherwise prevent the Flash Player and Adobe Reader programs from being installed.  It is not desirable to install and then uninstall the unwanted Flash Player and Adobe Reader programs.  It is also not desirable to purchase a newer version of Elements at this time.

If you cancel out of the Setup Wizard and then go to Start>Computer and right click on the cd and choose explore, you should be able to go to the folder
that has photoshop elements 5 and run the Installer or Setup.exe and bypass all the other out of date stuff like flash and adobe reader.
Also, after installing pse 5 you'll want to apply the 5.02 patch so pse 5 runs better on windows 7.
(it says for vista, but works on windows 7 x64 as well)

  • Installing x11 without installing the whole system?

I did not install x11 when I installed Tiger on my Mac G5. I have now, via a number of updates, moved to version 10.4.10.
Sadly, when I insert my system install disk it will not let me install x11 without installing the whole system. That is a risky and impractical situation at this point.
Is there a way to install x11 without installing a whole new system?

On the Installer Disc One there is an installer named 'Optional Installs.' You can install the X11 software from that package without reinstalling OS X.

  • Is there anyway to open a mobi format book on ipad without installing the kindle app but any other app

Is there anyway to open a mobi format book on ipad without installing the kindle app but any other app

Have you tried GoodReader? It claims to handle very large file sizes and it's very good for annotations. It's my PDF reader of choice on the iPad
    From the GoodReader manual:
File types to view in GoodReader
There are two types of viewing engines - the ones that we've written ourselves, and the built-in device's standard viewing engine. Our own engines provide great flexibility and many additional features not found in the built-in engine (for example, opening very large files). The built-in engine is very powerful and knows many file formats, but has many limitations and no additional features.
Files of very big size (our own viewing engine):
very large PDF files (including password-protected). File size is not the limit. Revolutionary PDF Reflow (Extract Pure Text) mode. See Viewing PDF Files for details.
very large TXT files. See Viewing TXT Files for details.
high-resolution pictures and other graphic files (including slideshow viewing mode). See Viewing Pictures for details.
And as a free bonus - files of normal size (iOS standard viewing engine):
all file formats supported by Safari engine: Microsoft Office files - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML files and Safariwebarchives
iWork'08/09 files - Pages, Numbers, Keynote (files must be saved with Include Preview option)
.ai files saved with PDF Compatible option
audio files (natively supported by iOS)
video files (natively supported by iOS)

You mean take the cover off of the iPhone, to look inside?  I'd recommend against it.  Even with warranty expired, you might qualify for an out-of-warranty service, which for 3GS is $149.
Other than that, any repair/service options are going to cost money.  You might want to see if a wireless carrier will let you get a new contract & phone.
Out of curiousity, you're just using at as, basically, an iPod Touch, if there's no cell provider?  Did I understand that correctly?

  • Lock apps without install the jailbreak

    Hello!
Do you know any way to lock apps without install the jailbreak? I'm not sure if it is good and safe to instal jailbreak. I heard that jailbreak is bad for iphone... is it true?

There is no way to do what you want on a non-jailbroken iPhone. Regarding jailbreaking, read here:

  • Safari 8 error: "...you need to install the Java Runtime Environment"

Ever since upgrading to Yosemite and Safari 8, I continually get the error "To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment" and, although I did do so the first time I got the error, and Java tells me I do have the latest version installed and running, I continue to get this error constantly.
Is there a way to stop this, or at least find out what content is causing it? I can't put my finger on any particular content that causes the error.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It makes no changes to your data.
Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    java -version
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
If the Apple Java runtime is installed and up to date, you should get three lines of output below what you entered, the first of which is this:
    java version "1.6.0_65"
Is that what you get? You can then quit Terminal.

  • I keep getting this pop up.To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment. How can I get rid of it?

I keep getting this pop up - To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment. How do I get rid of it.

Most likely, you have a web plugin that depends on the Java runtime distributed by Apple, such as the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.

  • HT202912 I get the message "To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment" Do I need two versions as this article suggests?

I just upgraded to Yosemite on my 2010 MacBook Pro.  When I reboot I get the message "To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment" and I've also seen the same pop-up once while running OpenOffice.  And now while composing this post.
Yes - I followed the link and installed the Oracle version of Java, version 8, and the test page confirms that I have the current version running.
I read some threads on discussions.apple.com but didn't like the answers.
    I found this:  http://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac-software/advanced-tips-for-mac-os-x-yosemit e-3582877/

Anyone else have experience on this?

Most likely, you have either the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. Both depend on the Java runtime distributed by Apple. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.
