Deploying exploded war to a managed server

We've just started using exploded war files for development, but we're
having trouble deploying these applications on server's other than the
managing/console. We keep getting this error:
Error deploying application zq: error retrieving component [
Caching Stub]Proxy for blue:Name=zq,Location=webserv,Type=We
bAppComponentConfig,ApplicationConfig=zq
Can someone shed some light on what this cryptic message means?
Thanks,
Eric

Interesting, never seen this before.
can you give some details - which server, complete trace etc....

• Cant deploy exploded Workshop application to managed server

Hello, I tried deploying an open directory Workshop application to a managed server

• Deploying a application in a managed server

Hi
I was trying to deploy a Webapp in a managed server, but I got following error, does anybody know how to fix this.
"Exception:weblogic.management.ApplicationException: Application <MyAppsName> is packaged using the WebLogic Split Development Directory structure. The Split Development Directory structure can only be used in development environments with a single WebLogic Server. If you wish to deploy this application to a separate managed server or cluster, use the wlpackage ant task to create an exploded or archived EAR. "
Regards
Vijay

As it suggests, deploy your WebApp on the cluster/managed server as WAR and not in exploded format.
Cheers!

• Cannot deploy SOA composite to a managed server

My problem: cannot deploy SOA composite to a managed server.
The following is what I did:
1. I created a domain "devDomain". admin server is created automatically for me.
*2. I created a manged server (soa_server1) on my domain after.*
2. started the admin server
3. started soa_server1
4. see both servers in WLS control, both server state=running
5. see both server in EM console, both server status are up
6. in JDev(11.1.1.5.0), created an application server connection, and tested the connection successfully
7. when I tried to deploy my composite from JDev, I selected the application server connection, on step "SOA servers", it only lists AdminServer.
8. Then I tried to deploy the composite from EM by right-click soa_server1, but "SOA deployment" is not in the list.
My guess: there should be some libraries or other resources applied to soa_server1 before it could accept soa deployment. What are these libraries/resources?
I tried to target all 10 libraries under the path "oracle.soa." to soa_server1, and checked the config.xml and found the file was updated correcly, reboot my pc, restarted the servers, but still face the same problem.
My environment is weblogic 10.3.5.
Basically, my question is:
after a domain is created and admin server is there, if I want to add a managed server which will host soa composites, what should I do to configure the managed server?

• How to deploy a war file on Weblogic Server 7.0??

Hello Everyone
I am trying to deploy a servlet on Weblogic Server 7.0 as a WAR file. Can anyone of u plz tell me the steps required to do that. I am posting this question on EJb forum and not on servlets coz this is not a servlet problem, rather this is something which is related to J2EE, ie how to deploy a war file on J2EE Server.
This is how i have done it, but this is not working---
(1) First i created a directory structure for the web application according to J2EE Specification.
C:\Work\
myServletWAR\
META-INF\
WEB-INF\
classes\
HelloServlet.class
web.xml
i.e within work directory, there is a dic called myServletWAR which is my application directory which contains 2 sub directories viz META-INF which contains the mainifest file being generated by the jar utility. the second directory in the myServletWAR application dir is WEB-INF, which contains one file called web.xml for servlet mapping and one directory classes which contains HelloServlet.class
(2) I used following command for creating war file from myServletWAR director(i.e from my web application's directory).
jar -cvf TestServletWAR.war .
This creates the TestServletWAR.war file in myServletWAR dir.
Here is how my Servlet and web.xml looks like...
Servlet code
import java.io.*;
import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
public class HelloServlet extends HttpServlet
public void doPost ( HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res )
throws IOException, ServletException
doGet( req, res );
public void doGet ( HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res )
throws IOException, ServletException
res.setContentType( "text/html" ); // Can also use "text/plain" or others.
PrintWriter out = res.getWriter();
// Get the requestor's IP address (See JavaDocs to see how to get other info):
String addr = req.getRemoteAddr();
// Create output (the response):
out.println( "

HelloServlet in myServletWAR

" );
out.println( "

" );
out.println( "Hello " + addr + ", from HelloServlet in myServletWAR!" );
out.println( "

" );
out.close();

I am getting the HTTP 404 Error, which is an indication that weblogic was unable to find the resourse, which it was requested for. Can anybody plz tell me what i m doing worng?? do i need to use weblogic related xml file (i.e weblogic.xml) also along with web.xml. If yes, then what all i need to include that. I m not very sure. A sample weblogic.xml file for this HelloWorld example will help me a lot.

• Deploying BEA Portal App in Managed Server problems....

Hello,
I have a BEA portal application (exploded EAR) that I want to deploy in a managed server. I first created a regular portal domain (8.1 SP4). I then created a managed server via the console. When I went to deploy my portal application (in the console), I received an error indicating that the application was a Split Development Directory and that I would have to run the wlpackage Ant task against the application first. I ran the wlpackage ant task and it seemingly worked.
I then used the wldeploy Ant task to deploy it in the managed server but got an error indicating that it could not find a JNDI name from one of the data sources. I went back to the console and targeted/deployed all of the default Connection Pools & Data Sources to the managed server thinking that was the reason the deploy failed.
When I ran the wldeploy again I got the following error:
Module: content.jar Error: Exception activating module: EJBModule(content.jar, status=PREPARED)
Unable to deploy EJB: ValueBean from content.jar
java.sql.SQLException: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: While trying to lookup 'portalFrameworkPool; contentDataSource;weblogic.jdbc.jts.commercialPool' didn't find subcontext 'portalFrameworkPool;contentDataSource;weblogic' Resolved ; remaining name 'portalFrameworkPool;contentDataSource;weblogic/jdbc/jts/commercialPool'
Has anyone run into this? Am I not suppose to deploy a portal application in a managed server?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks - Peter Len

Problem solved.......
After targeting all the data sources and poolers to the managed server, I restarted the main domain but did not restart the managed server. After restarting the managed server all was well.
Thanks - Peter

• Deploying a WAR to the J2EE Server - Suggestions Plz.

Hi,
I have a WAR file from my previous project, I would like to deploy it to my SAP WAS can some one tell me how I can do it also is there is way to Deploy a JAR file to a Server or to upload it there so all my applications can use it in the future without me having to add it to the Lib folder of my projects, I would appreciate any help.
Best Wishes,
John.

Hi John,
Open the source of application.xml in the EAR project and the add the following
<module>
<web>
<web-uri>sampleweb.war</web-uri>
<context-root>sampleweb</context-root>
</web>
</module>
Replace your war file name and context root in the above snippet and add it in your application.xml as follows...

<application>
<display-name>sample</display-name>

EAR description

<module>
<web>
<web-uri>sampleweb.war</web-uri>
<context-root>sampleweb</context-root>
</web>
</module>
</application>
Once you do it, your war is referred in ear and u can seperately deploy the war and ear and it will be recognized.
Hope this will solve your problem..
You may reward points if the solution helped..
Thanks and regards

• How to deploy a WAR file in JRun server?

hi,
I created one war file, now i want to deploy that file in JRun server. can anyone give me an idea of how to deploy that war file in server...

• Deploy exploded WAR file

Hello!
I need to deploy a war file extracted into a custom folder. Is it possible in WEB AS to point the deployment to a particular folder of our choice instead of deploying the WAR/EAR file?
Thanks
/Ray

Hi Ray,
applications on Web AS are deployed in the database, and the corresponding binaries are synchronized to the file system from the DB. Hence, you cannot point the deployment to a custom directory.
Anyway, why do you need that? Usually, exploded deployment is needed for development environment for the sake of quick update of the changed files? Is that your requirement also? If so, you could try using the Single File Update function of the Web AS Deploy service to update single files in your application. For details, see Deploying exploded EAR in WAS 6.40 thread.
Hope that helps a bit.

• Deploy a war in Oracle application server

Wrong forum.
Move (close and re-post) thread to either Discoverer

None of the classes are in a package (I know it's not the best idea, but I didn't write these, I'm just doing some updates). So the file structure is pretty much just WEB-INF/classes/
At the moment I've got a fix by just putting the entire project (not in any sort of archive) on the server itself instead of deploying it as a WAR, any thoughts on why the WAR isn't working would be much appreciated though.

• Problem deploying Creator War file in Application Server 8.1

I want to get my Creator app created using Linux to run on a Windows XP machine running Sun Java System Application Server 8.1.
I thought this would be straight forward as this is the server used in the IDE and both come with PointBase. No such luck.
The app starts up but trying to go to the login page which has a database connection I get HTTPStatus 500 exception
javax.servlet.ServletException: javax.faces.FacesException: javax.faces.FacesException: Can't instantiate class: 'myproject.Login : javax.faces.FacesException: java.sql.SQLException: JdbcRowSetXImpl (connect): (JNDI) Unable to connect: Signon not found
Signon is the PointBase database name and I can ping the database connection.
Is there a step by step How-to to get a Creator app running on SJSAS 8.1 on an external machine?
I used admin console to set up JDBC resources and connection pools and edited the sun-web.xml file to include
<sun-web-app xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee">
<context-root>/myproject</context-root>
<resource-ref>
<res-ref-name>jdbc/Signon</res-ref-name>
<jndi-name>jdbc/Signon</jndi-name>
</resource-ref>and the web.xml file includes
<resource-ref>

Rave generated DataSource Reference

<res-ref-name>jdbc/Signon</res-ref-name>
<res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
<res-auth>Container</res-auth>
</resource-ref>Can anyone tell me what I've missed out?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

• Unable to deploy a war file: could path length in a war file be an issue on WIN2K?

Hi all,
I am unable to auto deploy a web app as a war file but has no problem to auto deploy it as an exploded directory that I drop under the
$PortalHome/config/mydomain/applications directory of the WebLogic Server installation.
Portal Server runs under W2K.
I noticed that the generated war file located under $PortalHome/config/mydomain/applications.wlnotdelete contains files which path is 10 level deep and may be over
255 char.
Could this be a problem?
The error I got is:

Puthanampatti, thanks for responding.
What is the complete command line to deploy the war to a managed server, not Admin Server ?
Our thinking is to deploy an exploded war directory but copy the descriptor files first.
What do you think ?
