Deploying weblogic 8.1 app onto another app server

Is it possible to deploy a weblogic8.1 app onto a different app server such as Tomcat. If so where do I go for documentation on how to do it and what app server do you recommend I use?

I have same interest in this too. I have looked around for some information, but I have no answer yet about deploying weblogic 8.1 on other server other than weblogic server.
But, there are some information about deploying weblogic 5.x, 6.x, and some part of 7.x in jboss server. You can check these urls:

It is weird that nothing shows up in the log after you turned on the debug.
          Actually I knew somebody has run into the same problem once.
          The problem disappeared after he did something on the MQSeries side (like
          restart the system and something else). I did not know exactly what he did.
          I am not sure if that will help you but worth trying.
          If that does work either, I'd suggest that you contact the BEA Customer Support
          and somebody will look at it for you in depth.

Deployment problem on 10g App server and 8.1.6 Oracle Db

Hello
I have a problem. I have an application which were developed on Jdeveloper by using ADF Classes. Apllication has consist of 2 project 1st project run on 10g DB. Second one connected to 8.1.6. Apllication run well on Embedded OC4j of J Developer. But While Ä± have deployed the application to App Server 10g, Part of the Application which uses 10 g is working but part of the application which uses 8.1.6 not working. When I Try to connect the application i get the following error.
I thought that this may be caused because of security setting.
Application which uses 8.1.7 cannot be open JDBC connection. Authentication may cause this problem.
But i couldnt resolve
Any Idea?

From the App Server oracle home, and with the same connection information as app is using, can you connect to 8.1.6 db with sqlplus?
You said it works from JDeveloper - which version?
From AS 10.1.2 (which means net/client libraries 10.1.0.3) I get
"ORA-03134: Connections to this server version are no longer supported."
To 8.1.7.4 database connection succeeds. (hint: 8.1.6 is not supported!)
Maybe this could be the culprit?

Deploying reports on Oracle app server

Our current application has Oracle reports deployed on Oracle AS and Oracle Report Server. Can we replicate same scenario for Crystal report.
Means can we use Crystal Report on Oracle App Server / Oracle Report Server. Or do I need to use Crystal report Server

Opensso.war deployment fails in Sun App server 8.2 windows vissta business

I tried deploying opensso.war in Sun App server 8.2 on windows vista business machine. Am getting following error.

Try deploying directly from the OAS EM Web interface - it might provide a more detailed error message.
If you are using JDev 10.1.3 my guess it might be that your deployment descriptor files are using J2EE 1.4 syntax instead of J2EE 1.3 syntax which is what OAS 10.1.2 expects.

Error deploying to standalone OC4J app server

Hey all,
I created a web app with jdeveloper 10.1.3.3 using OC4J 10.1.3.3 as well. I'm using EJB and session beans to communicate with a database. nothing particularly fancy about it, i just read tables from the db. however, when i try and deploy through jdev to the standalone OC4J i get an error. here's the last part of the deployment log when it fails:

The only thing in my Persistence.xml file is the <persistence-unit> tag with name "WD_WORK", and in that a <jta-data-source> tag.
Also, it runs fine on the local embedded server, it's only when i try and deploy that it gives this error. I even deployed my app to an EAR file and tried uploading it manually to the app server, still same error.

If you have a model project that has objects referenced by the view controller/UI project then you need to explicitly include them in the deployment. Unlike in embedded OC4J they wont be automatically included.
Create an ADF library deployment profile in the model project and include the generated library in your UI project war file. You can add this jar to the project Libraries/Classpath then make sure it is included in the WEB-INF/lib Contributors list.

Automation of deployment on Oracle 10g App Server

Iam trying for automation of deployment on Oracle 10g Application Server.
Oracle 10g (10.1.3.1.0) ant-oracle-classes.jar
Any pointers for the same will be very very helpful.
I googled for the documentation of [i]ant-oracle-classes.jar. But could not get any valid results. Can someone please help me out.
If anyone has used/implemented the automation either thru Ant Tasks or J2EE Deployment API.

For future references:
this happens to me too and I found that the cause is that the AM server you are going to configure, is already registered into the directory server.
Try running this command (with the obvious parameters substituted)
ldapsearch -B -T -D 'cn=directory manager' -w YOUR_CREDENTIALS -b ou=1.0,ou=iPlanetAMPlatformService,ou=services,YOUR_BASEDN -s base objectclass=* | grep YOUR_SERVERNAMEIf you found that the server you are configuring is listed here try going to AMserver console (if you have another AMserver configured) and browse to Configuration->System Properties->Platforms. If the server is here, remove it, if not, just hit Save (very important).
If this is your first AM and is a first installation you can just get rid of the Directory Server suffix and recreate it with the Top Entry alone.

Error deploying EJBs on Sun App Server

Someone please help, I am getting a strange problem when deploying an EJB jar.
I have had this code working before (before Xmas), but now I am getting the following error:
java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: com.enterprise.entity.ContentBean.getId();Remote;public abstract java.lang.Integer com.enterprise.entity.ContentRemote.getId() throws java.rmi.RemoteException;_RequestID=e1c03c30-18d9-4f08-b57f-58d97180c1d9;|EJB5111:Bean class for ejb [content:java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: com.enterprise.entity.ContentBean.getId()] does not define a method corresponding to [Remote] interface method [public abstract java.lang.Integer com.enterprise.entity.ContentRemote.getId() throws java.rmi.RemoteException]

Hello,
the build runs a verifier on your EJBs and makes sure everything is in proper order. The ear file holds everything, including the jsps which are inside the war file that gets created.

ADF deployment issue on Oracle App Server

Hi,
I am getting the following error when trying to deploy an ADF application to an OC4J instance on Oracle Application Server.
The error message is
Exception: NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/portlet/client/extapp/ExternalAppCredentialException
Operation failed with error: oracle/portlet/client/extapp/ExternalAppCredentialException
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Basic questions first as you haven't supplied much information:
What version of JDev and what version of OAS?
Have you followed section 34.2 out of the JDev 10g Guide?
Have you installed the ADF Libraries?

Communication between two web applications deployed on same app server

I need to update the war file of one application(say Application A) from another application(say application B). Actually application B is the admin application of application A.
In order to achieve this, I need to get the ServletContext of A from B. How can I do that?
P.S: Both the applications will be deployed on the same app server and they are app server independent.

public ServletContext getContext(java.lang.String uripath)
Returns a ServletContext object that corresponds to a specified URL on the server.
This method allows servlets to gain access to the context for various parts of the server, and as needed obtain RequestDispatcher objects from the context. The given path must be begin with "/", is interpreted relative to the server's document root and is matched against the context roots of other web applications hosted on this container.
In a security conscious environment, the servlet container may return null for a given URL.

uripath - a String specifying the context path of another web application in the container.

Deployment to Oracle App server 10.1.2

Hi All,
I have developed a application using ADF BC, Jsf and Oracle 10g database using Jdev 10.1.3
Application is on my local laptop tested using local embedded server. I have linked the applcation in Oracle portal server as follows:

I am going to view this application in Oracle portal.
I want to achieve two tasks:
1> What are the steps to deploy this application in App server 10.1.2 ?? (What could be potential hurdles now since I am moving from embedded server to Full fledge app server ?/
2> And, once deployed, How do I reference the application from my portal ?? Still use the IFRAME and src url shown above ??

Hi,
Inorder to deploy in Oracle Portal server you have to do the following.
1. Create a .deploy file using the web.xml in your JDeveloper.
2. After creating select the .deploy file and create an .ear file.
3. In the Oracle Portal server try to deploy in OC4J_Portal component in the Middle tier.
4. Access the URL for the index.jsp page.
5. Register the provider in the oracle portal server using the URL.
6. Then you can include the jsp you have developed into your portal page as portlets.

Finding a pages URL once it is deployed to app server

Hi, I have deployed a jheadstart application to Oracle Application Server, I know the context root, and an authentication window pops up if I enter the context folder after the server name, but I can't locate the page I want within the context folder, the server returns file not found errors on all the paths i've tried...
How is the URL location of the pages determined? Is it built up from the file structure in the app server j2ee home, or does it depend on the application structure in Jdeveloper before deployment?
The jheadstart app structure is: Application -> ViewController -> Web Content -> pages -> mypage.jspx
The deployed folder structure in app server is : j2ee\home\applications\myapplication\ViewArchive\pages\mypage.jspx
So in this case what would the URL be after the context root to bring up mypage.jspx ?

Yes, you can add an index.jsp to yout web root dir, with the following content:
<% response.sendRedirect("faces/pages/Home.jspx"); %>
In JHeadstart 10.1.3.2 we will geenrate such a file as a convenience.
You can also specify a welcome file in web.xml.
