Design Dilemma - create sophisticated page

Hi,
Sometimes the solution for a specific problem just eludes you, so in this circumstance I'm
falling at the feet of the group to beg for inspiration please.
The application I'm tinkering with is for our local junior Ice Hockey club.
I have a database table called "teams", and there's one record per unique team in the club.
Now I want to make a "display" page that only shows one team - a sort of Report but limited
to only a single record. With the wizards, this is easily achievable, but here's the rub: I want it
to look more sophisticated than a single line in a page - I want to make this single row report
look much more like a Form, or even more sophisticated if possible.
I could use the Form wizard then switch off all updating capability, but I don't want to stray
near any "update" code - this will be a read-only page for the end users to view.
How would I tackle this problem - do I create separate Items and have each of them perform
a query on the database to retrieve their single piece of data? This doesn't sound optimal.
If folks could just point me in the right direction I will stumble off down the given route...

Thanks for the reply.
I had (and probably still have) a vague notion regarding "Themes" and "Templates", so the
natural reluctance was to stay away from the scary unknown stuff... :-)
I've now tinkered with the system and created my own report template. Just waiting for the further
inspiration to make it look "nice"...

You should be able to Save as: iWork 08, but i don't know how it works on Mountain Lion. On my Snow Leopard the Save as window has a part looking like this

How to create a page break in application designer

Hi Folks,
I need to create a simple page break in a PeopleSoft online page for the purpose controlling how the page prints. To achieve this, I'm using an HTML area in app designer with the following page break code:
<p style="page-break-after:always;"></p>
Unfortunately, with this code, and extra blank page will print out after the HTML area. It's actually breaking both before and after the HTML area. I've tried every permutation of the 'break' command with no luck. How can I stop the extra blank page from printing?

Need help in creating a page that populates 3 related tables

Hi All,
I am pretty new to Oracle and have been trying to use the wizards in HTML_DB to create one page that will populate three tables. I have thus far have NOT been able to find my solutions. I do not know enough experience in SQL/PL_SQL to create the code on my own.
Here is my dilemma. I have three tables:
con (for contacts) - with regular contact info = l_name, f_name, phone...
pro (for different programs) - with different program info = pro_name, priority..
procon (Contact/program) - that joins the two together with initial, follow-up and close date fields.
I created a composite primary key in the procon table that consists of the two pk's of the other two tables (using fk relationships).
I want to be able to use one page in HTML_DB to enter in the data which will populate all three tables. Is there a way to do this in PL/SQL?
* Also: Is there a book out there that you can recommend that really teaches SQL/PL_SQL?
I would really, really, REALLY appreciate the help!!!!!

This isn't as bad as you think. I would create one procedure in a package and pass the parameters to the package via htmldb
procedure insval(in_a in number, in_b in number, in_c in number)
begin
   insert into tablea(cola)
    values(in_a);
insert into tableb(colb)
   values(in_b);
insert into tablec(colc)
   values(in_c);
end;and then you call it from htmldb using a process
schema.package.insval(:p1_a,:p1_b,:p1_c);That's ultra-simplified, but will get the job done.

Clicking "page from template" does not allow me create new pages

I stared designing a site with the trial version of CS4. Of course it involved a lot of trial and error, creating a page and canceling it again etc. At last I was able to design the index page and a few other pages, but suddenly just about 7 days into the trial period, the template started looking different; not displaying the images and displaying the home page article in an improper way. I also discovered that I could not create new pages by selecting file\new. When the new document dialogue page opens and I select "page from template" and then select a site I am working on, nothing shows in the items list. I only see the message "no items". Moreover, the "create" (new page) button is no more a click-able area.
I even tried it by proceeding as if I wanted to design a new site. I click file\new\page from template\the site, but when it comes to the stage where I should select "2 column liquid, left sidebar, header and footer" after clicking “page from template” I don't see anything in the items column. It only tells me "no item."
I thought this problem was due to the fact that I was using the trial version and that the trial version was limited in the number of new pages I could create. So I bought the full version. Alas! I discovered that changed nothing. Right now am stuck. Do you have any suggestion?

I think you're are confusing DW Templates with CSS Page Designs and Starter Pages.
Templates are a DW proprietary device. They permit you to have sitewide elements such as common menus, headers and footers on all your pages along with Editable Regions for page specific content (i.e. the stuff that changes on every page).
DW Templates looks like this (notice the Template Editable Comments):

Unable to Create a Page and an iView

After creating a new model, I tried to create the page. But the Elements task panel at the right is empty.
I am suppose to drag the Module icon onto the workspace. But no Module icon..
What is missing in my installation?. Thanks
MS XML 4.0 is installed.
In the workspace, the Design tab, is displayed.
I am able to connect to EP Successfully.
When I created the model, SAP Portal User Interface Model, EP kit is selected.

I am attempting to create a new group space page template for Spaces that has a floating div on the right side that will have content wrap around it. It should look similar in concept to the image in this link:

This seems like it should be simple enough but I need to allow dynamic content to be added each region with Oracle Composer. Currently when I am testing this, composer generates html tables around the different components and the content of the two regions overlaps each other. Has anyone successfully created a page template similar to this or have any ideas on how I might get it to work? Below is the current code I am using:

Create multiple pages

i have a form that is distributed statewide and i need the ability for the user to be able to create mutiple pages - this form may have 2 pages or 200 pages and right now i have 20 copies of the page in the file and if they have more than 20 pages they have to save multiple files.

You can do that with an Acroform by spawning a page template. If it has to work with Reader versions prior to 11, then the document will have to be Reader-enabled using LiveCycle Reader Extensions (which is different than Designer) with the appropriate usage rights. Reader 11 allows template spawning to create a new page (and overlay an existing one) with a non-enabled document. Note that you cannot remove a page once it has been added.

Use a Custom Page Layout When Creating [[new pages]] in Enterprise Wiki

I have followed a few different blogs and I've been able to create a custom wiki content type and create a new page layout based off of that content type. I've also set my site so that my new layout is the default page layout. This works when creating
new pages on the site but when i try to create a new wiki page --> [[new page]], I'm still getting the typical blank wiki template. How on earth do i get my page layout to sync with creating a new wiki page?

For your issue, go to Site Actions > Site Settings > Page layouts and site templates (Under Look and Feel).
Pages in this site can only use the following layouts: add custom wiki template.
Select default page layout: choose custom wiki template.

How to create a page that tests and then creates a valid DB LINK connection

The problem is that I'd like to create a page that has all the necessary fields (name, host, port, etc) to create a database link just like the one in the SQL workshop - I'd prefer to have it done this way so as to limit the users from using SQL workshop. But i'd also like the DB Link tested before created.
I've tinkered around a bit and was able to create the database link using a page process that calls an execute immediate statement to add the database link using items in the form section, however I'm confused as to how I would test the connection before hand.

Unable to create body page

I am following examples from a ebook and every where they are mentioning that we can create body page inside a master page
however...when I try creating i do not see any option of creating a body page inside a master page??

Body Pages are not part of the master page, however they are contained inside the outermost node in the hierarchy shown in the designer on left side of layout. You can create them there and can assign them with a master page.
Every body page is assigned with a master page thats why they say we can create a body page for a master page.

- Right-Click on the Top level node in the Hierarchy Tab (Usually named 'form1', and located in the left navigation panel)
- Select "New Body Page".

As per my understanding, they might have done association so as to extend that page further to create/update page.
However, you are correct that we can perform simple search operation with using associations.
