Design issue (24x7 remote connection to EJB is required)

I have a standalone application that is use remote EJBs to persist its state. the application is required to run 24x7 . whenever the connection to the server is down the application should save the data temprary on the file syste till the connection is back again, the connection might be down because of several reasons (network problem or server reboot) . I am using business delegate ,service locator and facade patterns, what is the best way to handle this scenario?
should I cache the InitialContext / remote interface on the client? what will happen when the network is down ? the context/interface will still work after the server is back or I will need to reconnect?

I appreciate your all advices but I think you still didnt get my point, I will try to make it more clear ...I dont have a cluster..
my remote client application is requried to run 24x7 , wether the Applicataion server is up or not.. incase it is up it will persist directly to the application server , but when the server is down the client should spool the data in the local disk till the server is back up after which is sychronize its spooled data with the database, so it is normal that server will be down (or not reachable). what I want to know
- if can I still use the same instance of the initialContext and the home interface between server ups and downs?
- how can I dsitinguish between server connection problem and any other problem that can arise even with the server is up . in both cases I will get a RemoteException . .but how to know it is a Connection problem (other than expecting an exception message "connection time out" or though)?
thank you

  • Solution manager Remote Connection issues

    Hi
    I'm currently in the process of setting up Solution Manager 7.1 on windows Server 2008r2 using central system.
    I did the prerequisite check & the Solman installation and i'm actuallly working on the post-installation steps.
    I'm experiencing difficulty with the step : "Configure Remote Connection to SAP".
    I followed the informations provided on :   http://service.sap.com/remoteconnection
    In the technical prerequesite you have to set up a connection to sap support.
    So i have to choose a connection type : I selected Internet connection so my first question is : do we need "VPN with SNC" or "VPN OR SNC" ?
    I personnaly understood VPN or SNC.
    So from here i decided to use SNC.
    The first step was to set up & configure the SAProuter. I decided to do it on an another computer on the same domain ( not on the same computer where Solution Manager is installed ) but i'm not sure it is necesary
    I assume I can install Saprouter on the same location as the Solution manager? do you recommend it ?
    The Basic Functions testing with niping is working.
    The next step is : "establish Internet Connections"
    So now i can choose between SNC or VPN : my goal is to establish the connection as fast as possible.
    I actually don't have a switch available ( i can get one if necesary but time is running ... ) so i'm opting for the SNC solution.
    I tryed to get the certificate for the saprouter but i don't have a register SAProuter, but when i opened a customer messager for component  XX-SER-NET, SAP answered about the impossibility to access SAP service Backbone with an SNC , saying that i will need to register a VPN site to site connection to SAP => i don't get it .... Can someone explain it to me ?
    So please can one of you guru's tell me how to set this remote connection :
    -which materials ( server / switch / firewalls ) ?
    -where to get the right documentation ?
    -What about DMZ ?
    -I have a single IP Address is that enough ? ( setting up nat for port  3299 )
    - do i have to contact a service provider ?
    My idea was initially to set up the SAProuter on the same computer as the SOLMAN setup & use SNC communication  to communicate with SAP but it doesn't seems that easy. Do i need separate installation for Saprouter <=> Solution Manager. ?
    What's the minimal infrastructure to establish this connection ?
    In addition to that, after configuring the SAProuter, i had trouble with the SAPMMC : on my system , on the instance 0 , the process disp+work.EXE  won't run ( yellow light )and i can't find where i made a mistake if you have suggestions ...
    Really need your help, i'm on a short deadline ... Any help, even incomplete, would be appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.

    Thx for the answer.
    I actually managed to register my saprouter with SAP and was granted with CN/OU & connection informations.
    I followed this guide : http://service.sap.com/saprouter-sncdoc  with the addition of this guide : http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/Basis/SAProuterviaSNC.
    My first issue : I'm running with a Windows server 2008 r2 enterprise edition 64 bits with a processor Intel Xeon 2.4ghz ( dualcore). so i decided to use the crypto folder "nt-x86_64"
    For the environment variable i set as System variables SECUDIR = C:\usr\sap\saprouter and SNC_LIB = C:\usr\sap\saprouter\nt-x86_64\sapcrypto.dll
    The generation/install of the certificate is alright ( sapgenpse get_my_name -v -n Issuer is OK )
    using the command :saprouter -r -K "p:CN=mycn, OU=myOUnbr, OU=SAProuter, O=SAP, C=DE" i have
    I get the following message :  trc file     dev_rout
                                                    no ligging active
    Its strange cause it looks like its running but when i check the services running on windows saprouter isn't started .... How to know if SAProuter is running right ?
    If i folow the SAP procedure : Step 3 : test of the ip connection by the customer : SAP Remote Services : technical preparation ( see SAP Note 812386 ) : it's ask in the note to implement note 766505 via SNOTE : i get the following error msg : Error in remote connection to destination SAPOSS : Error when opening an RFC connection ( LB: Hostname or service of the message server unknown#DEST = SA
    What's wrong ?
    If i use T oss1 in parameter => technical setting => i set my saprouter info in SAProuter 1 ( at customer site ) with instance no. 99 and if SAProuter and SAPNet Message Server at SAP i put the following : Name : sapserv2 / IP Address 194.39.131.34 intance no. 99 and message server name oss001/ DB Name 001/ Instance no.01.
    When trying to "Logon to SAPNet"  i have an error Unable to connect to SAPNet message server ( default connection will be used ... )
    and followed by the error screen : "partner '80.15.173.168:sapdp99' not reached WSAECONNREFUSED : Connection refused. do you want to see the detailed error description ? "
    Details : module nixxi.cpp / line 3286 / Method : NipConnect2:80.15.173.168:3299 / Return code : -10 / System call : connect / Error No : 10061 / Error Text WSAECONNREFUSED: Connection refused / Counter : 10
    Any idea ?
    when doing niping.exe -c -H /H/mylocalSR/H/194.39.131.34/H/194/39.131.34 i obtain :
    Wed Dec 07 21:20:09 2011

    excluding max and min :
    av2   118.273 ms
    tr2   16.514 kB/s
    Is it the expected output ?
    I've maintained system data in service.sap.com/system-data ( selecting the sap router ) then i tryed to use the SAP service connection, downloaded the .exe but i can't find the stfk.oez. I realized that in my maintain connection screen i have no space for entering any routestring. Seems wrong ?
    Do i have to use the SAO?
    i've made nat redirection from my router as this : from my public ip to my lan ip ( 192.168.x.x) what should i enter in the routestring : /H/public or lan or hostname ?/S/3299 ?
    Hoping you can help me ! ( the goal of all this is to set up RFC connection for postinst step of Solution manager ).

  • Logic Remote connectivity issues after updating to iOS 8 (solved!)

    Has anyone else has been experiencing connectivity issues with Logic Remote after updating to iOS 8?
    After updating to iOS 8 I could no longer connect so I sent a feedback report to Apple and got a response that cleared up my problem immediately:
    Navigate to the following directory on your desktop system running GarageBand:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/Data/Library/Preferences/
    You can quickly navigate there using the “Go” menu in Finder -> Go To Folder (shift-command-G), then copy this path:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/Data/Library/Preferences/
    In the Preferences folder should be a file named "com.apple.garageband10.cs”.
    Make sure GarageBand is not running and delete the  "com.apple.garageband10.cs” file.
    Relaunch GarageBand and see if you should now be able to connect.
    The same can be done for Logic by navigating to:
    ~/Library/Preferences/
    And deleting "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" and restarting Logic.
    Note that doing this will fix Logic Remote connectivity issues (and possibly other problems with latency and mixer functionality)  but will also delete any other Controller settings that you've configured with Logic, if you happen to be using another controller of some sort.

    Thanks very much!  This solved my connection problem.

  • Need helps for remote connection issue

    Dear guys,
    Today, I got a problem regarding remote connections. My Oracle stopped responding to remote connections. (tried to connect by sqlplus with service name, and sqlplus hung) Tnsping works. Local connection works (tried to connect by sqlplus without service name).
    Have to stutdown by sqlplus and oracle did not respond. Shutdown the server (windows server 2003 standard edition), system stop responding (guess it was caused by oracle service). Had to shutdown by pushing the power button. After it restarts, everything come back to normal. No error is logged in alert log.
    Any ideas regarding this issue? Many thanks.
    G.B.
    Still studying this issue. Found an SQLNET.log in the %ORACLE_HOM%/NETWORK/LOG fould. It reads:

    Seems it's related to authentication service issue. So, I just commented out SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS) from sqlnet.ora even my database functions well after restart. But I'm not sure if this is the solution and still wondering what's the root cause of this error.

    Hi there!
    Modify the following entry in sqlnet.ora
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
    to
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (beq,none)
    and you will be fine,

  • Remote connectivity Issue

    Hi Team,
    I have an issue with RDC of my Windows server 2008 R2.
    I could able to remotely connect previously without any issue's, suddenly there was some issue's
    Remote settings were set correctly to allow connection.
    But even though I could not connect.
    Help me in resolving this issue.
    Best Regards,
    Arun.

    Hi Arun,
    Have you checked the settings on the GPO?:
    -Browse to Computer Configuration -> Windows settings -> Security Settings -> Local policies -> User Rights Assignment
    -Edit "Allow log on through terminal services"
    -Add domain users/groups
    -Run gpupdate /force
    And, locally on the RDS server:
    Computer Management > Local Users and Groups > Groups >
    Add desired users to Group 'Remote Desktop Users'
    If the settings are correct, maybe you could post the error that you are getting when you remotely connect.

  • Oracle 11g Remote Connection issue

    When I try to connect to Oracle database remotely using SQLPlus or SQLDeveloper I get the following error.
    ORA-01017: INVALID USERNAME/PASSWORD; logon denied.
    Server details:
    Oracle 11g on Enterprise Linux 4
    I can connect using SQLPlus on the server.
    SHOW SQLCASE is MIXED
    Client details:
    Windows Server 2003 enterprise Edition
    Oracle 11g Client.
    From remote computer my TNSPING to that server works perfectly.
    For the same connection string I can’t connect from client. I am sure I am not typing bad password.
    Any thought on this will be helpful.
    Thank you,
    Smith

    Did the following steps and still not able to connect.
    1. Cross checked that the REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE is set to EXCLUSIVE.
    2. Created the PASSWORD file at the server using the tool ORAPWD
    3. Restarted the server and started the Oracle listener and database.
    4. Connected to the database using PLSQL in server to make sure it works fine there.
    5. Checking at the client box to connect to the database. It fails and I am looking for help again at forum.
    Now it is connecting using remote connection(sqlplus and sqlDeveloper) to the server. Interestingly the password are not the same when I connect remotely and from the server.
    I am sure it is connecting to the same database both the occasion. I shut down the server and try to connect or v$version results indicates that I connecting to the same database.
    Any jestification on this? I am getting lost here.
    Thank you,
    Smith

    I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
    Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
    many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
    How do I connect to my Local DB?
    Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
    instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
    I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
    I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
    May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.
    Some of the things I have tried:
    From a command prompt, enter one of the following commands:
    net start "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" OR
    net start "SQL Server Agent(instancename)"(for instance)
    on my sql configuration, I cannot start anything because there is nothing there to start. I can post more details, if that would help. Also, some more details about the error:

    Any one that can help me, I will be greatful. Thank you so much. p.s. please ask me anything if you have any questions.

    It sounds like there are a couple things going on here.  First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
    Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance.  Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
    If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error.  If you get an error, post the error message your hitting.  If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect.  If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
    name in the connection dialog.  Ex:  "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name.  However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format.  Ex:  COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
    is the instance name you set during install).
    You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install.  Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
    recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

  • Issues with JDBC Connection Pooling

    Hi all,
    I'm experiencing some unexpected behaviour when trying to use JDBC Connection Pooling with my BC4J applications.
    The configuraiton is -
    Web Application using BC4J in local mode
    Using Default Connection Stagegy
    Stateless Release Mode
    Retrieving Application Modules using Configuration.createRootApplicationModule( am , cf );
    Returning Application Modules using Configuration.releaseRootApplicationModule( am, false );
    Three application modules
    AppModuleA - connects to DatabaseConnection1
    AppModuleB - connects to DatabaseConnection2
    AppModuleC - connects to DatabaseConnection2
    My requirement is to -
    Use App Module Pooling and have individual pool for each Application Module
    Use JDBC Pooling and have individual pool for each Database connection
    Note: All configuration was achieved in design mode (i.e. right clicking AppModule->Configurations...)
    1. Initial approach -
    In the configuration for each Application Module I specified the connection type as 'JDBC Datasource' and specified to approriate datasource.
    Tried setting doConnecitonPooling to 'true' as well as 'false'
    In the data-sources.xml I specified all the appropriate info including min-connections and max-connections.
    I would expect, with the above config that BC4J would use OC4J's built in JDBC connection pooling.
    2. Second approach -
    In the configuration for each Application Module I specified the connection type as JDBC URL.
    In the configuration I specified doConnectionPooling = 'true' as well as the max connection, max available and min available
    What I experienced in both cases was that the max connections seem to be ignored as the number of connection as reported by the database (v$session) was exceeded by more than 10.
    In addition to this once the load was removed the number of JDBC connecitons did not drop (I would have expected it to drop to max available connections)
    My questions are -
    1. When specifying to use a 'JDBC Datasource' style of connection, is it in fact OC4J that is then responsible for pooling JDBC connections? And in this case should BC4J's doConnectionPooling parameter be set to true or false?
    2. Are there any known issues with the use of the JDBC Conneciton Pool as stated by the above to approaches?

    Thanks for the additional info. Please see my comments. below.
    Sorry should have been more specififc -
    1. Is each application pool using a different JDBC user? You mentioned DatabaseConnection1 and DatabaseConnection2
    above; are these connections to different schemas / users? If so, BC4J will create a separate connection pool for each
    JDBC user. Each connection pool will have its own maximum pool size.
    Each 'DatabaseConnection' refers to a different database, actually hosted on a seperate physical server, different
    schema and different user.BC4J will maintain a separate connection pool for each permutation of JDBC URL / schema. If each user is connecting
    to a different DB instance then I would expect no greater than 10 DB sessions. However, if a DB instance is hosting
    more than user then I would expect greater than 10 DB sessions (though still no more than 10 DB sessions per user).
    2. Are all the v$session sessions related to the JDBC clients? There should be at least one additional database
    session which will be related to the session that is querying v$session.
    When querying the v$session table I specifically look for connections from the user in quesiton and from the machine
    name in question and in doing so eliminate the database system's connections, as well as the query tools'
    connection. One area I'm not sure about is the connection BC4J uses to write to its temporary tables. I am using
    Stateless release mode and have not explicetly stated to save to the database but I'm wondering if it still does if so
    and how does it come into the equation with max connections?BC4J's internal connections are also pooled and the limits apply as mentioned above. So, if you have specified
    internal connection info for a schema which is different than the users above I would expect the additional conns.
    One helpful diagnostic tool, albeit programmatic, might be to print the information about the connection pools after
    your test client(s) have finished. This may be accomplished as follows:
    // get a reference to the BC4J connection pool manager
    import oracle.jbo.server.ConnectionPoolManagerFactory;
    import oracle.jbo.server.ConnectionPoolManagerImpl;
    import oracle.jbo.pool.ResourcePool;
    import java.io.PrintWriter;
    import java.util.Enumeration;
    // get the ConnectionPoolManager. assume that it is an instance of the supplied manager
    ConnectionPoolManagerImpl mgr = (ConnectionPoolManagerImpl)ConnectionPoolManagerFactory.getConnectionPoolManager();
    Enumeration keys = mgr.getResourcePoolKeys();
    PrintWriter pw = new PrintWriter(System.out, true);
    while (keys.hasMoreElements())
    Object key = keys.nextElement();
    ResourcePool pool = (ResourcePool)mgr.getResourcePool(key);
    System.out.println("Dumping pool statistics for pool: " + key);
    pool.dumpPoolStatistics(pw);
    }

    When HFM is installed on the same machine, it works fine. How does ODI identify a cluster on a different machine? Do I have to give the machine name along with the cluster name? If so, what is the format?
    Thanks,
    Su

    You will need to have the HFM client installed on any machine that will be running ODI (i.e. Designer or Agent) that will be executing connections to an HFM server.
    Once you have the HFM client installed, see if you can actually connect to HFM from that machine using the HFM client.
    Couple of other thing, in the Physical Schema, have you set the Application Catalog and Work Catalog to the same HFM application?
    Also, when you are reversing, are you using the local agent or one you have installed using agentservice?

  • Design issue with sharing LV2 style global between run-time executables

    Hi,
    Just when I though that I had everything figured out, I ran into this design issue.
    The application that I wrote is pretty much a client-server application where the server publishes data and the client subscribes data using data sockets. Once the client gets all the data in the mainClient.vi program, I use LV2 style (using shift registers) to make the data global to all the other sub-vi’s. So the LV2 is in initialize mode in the mainClient.vi program and then in the sub-vi’s the LV2 is in read mode. Also, I had built the run time menu for each sub-vi that when an item is selected from the menu, I would use the get menu selection to get the item tag which will be the file nam
    e of the sub-vi and open the selected sub-vi using vi server. This all worked great on my workstation where I have labVIEW 7.0 Express installed. But the final goal is to make exe’s for each of these sub-vi’s and install runtime on the PC’s that do not have labVIEW installed. Of course when I did that only the mainClient.exe program was getting the updated data from the server but the sub-vi’s were not getting the data from the mainClient.exe. I did realize that the reason for this is due to the fact that I had compiled all the sub-vi’s separately and so the LV2 vi is now local to each executable (i.e. all executables have their own memory location). Also, the run-time menu did not work because now I am trying to open an executable using vi server properties.
    To summarize, is there a way to share LV2 style global's between executables without compiling all of the sub-vi’s at one time? I tried using data-sockets (local-host) instead of LV2 st
    yle gloabls to communicate between the sub-vi’s but I ran into performance issues due to the large volume of data.
    I would really appreciate it if anyone can suggest a solution/alternative to this problem.
    Thanks
    Nish

    >
    If the LV2 global is loaded statically into your mainClient.vi, then any
    other application can connect to the exe and get a reference to the VI
    using the VI name. This gives you a VI reference you can use to call
    the VI. Ye
    s, the values will be copied between applications. That is
    why you need to add access operations to the global that returns just
    the info needed. If you need the average, do that in the global. If
    you need the array size, do that in the global. Returning the entire
    array shouldn't be a common operation on the LV2 style global anyway.

    Your app does need to watch both the amount of data being passed across
    the network, and the amount being shared between the apps. You might
    want to consider puttin
    g the VIs back into the main app. What is the
    reason you are breaking them apart for?

  • Multiple inheritance in remote interfaces for EJB 3.0 session beans on Webl

    Hi All,
    We started migration from EJB 2.1(WLS 8.1) to EJB 3.0(WLS 10.3.2) and identified few serious problems. One of them is related with multiple business interfaces inheritance. I wrote simple example that presents point of the problem.
    we have session bean AImpl:
    +@Stateless(name="A")+
    +@Remote({A.class})+
    +@TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRED)+
    +public class AImpl implements A {+
    +@Override+
    +public void writeA() {+
    System.out.println("A");
    +}+
    +@Override+
    +public void writeB() {+
    System.out.println("B");
    +}+
    +@Override+
    +public void writeC() {+
    System.out.println("C");
    +}+
    +}+
    with remote interface A:
    +@Remote+
    +@JNDIName(A.JNDI_NAME)+
    +public interface A extends B, C {+
    public static String JNDI_NAME = "A_JNDI_NAME";
    void writeA();
    +}+
    As you can see A extends B, and C. Definition of both interfaces is very simple:
    +public interface B {+
    void writeB();
    +}+
    +public interface C {+
    void writeC();
    +}+
    Everything looks nice until we want to invoke some method on AImpl bean. For above implementation code:
    A a = ctx.lookup(A. JNDI_NAME);
    a.writeA();
    a.writeB();
    a.writeC();
    writes down ”A \n B” and throws exception:
    caused by: java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: pl.gov.arimr.zszik.bazowe.slowniki.ejb.A_vt0zts_AImpl_1032_WLStub.*writeC()*
    at java.lang.Class.getMethod(Class.java:1605)
    at weblogic.ejb.container.internal.RemoteBusinessIntfProxy.getTargetMethod(RemoteBusinessIntfProxy.java:165)
    at weblogic.ejb.container.internal.RemoteBusinessIntfProxy.invoke(RemoteBusinessIntfProxy.java:57)
    so.. in stub generated by WLS there is no method from interface C ! What more interesting after small change in interface A rely on change in interface implementation order from B, C to C, B (+public interface A extends C, B {+) server writes down only A and I have stack like below:
    Caused by: java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: pl.gov.arimr.zszik.bazowe.slowniki.ejb.A_vt0zts_AImpl_1032_WLStub.*writeB()*
    at java.lang.Class.getMethod(Class.java:1605)
    at weblogic.ejb.container.internal.RemoteBusinessIntfProxy.getTargetMethod(RemoteBusinessIntfProxy.java:165)
    at weblogic.ejb.container.internal.RemoteBusinessIntfProxy.invoke(RemoteBusinessIntfProxy.java:57)
    After this experience I came up with suspicion that Weblogic 10.3 does not support inheritance from multiple interfaces in one “generation”. Instead of that it takes only the first interface from the list.
    Does anybody have some experience with such a situation? maybe someone have an idea how to work around this problem?

    This is Not Supported in WebLogic that the Remote Interface extends other Interfaces. Because Annotation Processor just looks up inside the implemented interface methods. The actual interface which is Implemented by the Bean Class. So the Methods declared inside the Interface B and Interface C will be ignored and will not be available as part of the generated Stubs. Thats why u are getting NoSuchMethodError.
    You can even contact Oracle Support on this...there are 3-4 Cases on it. And the Solution is Work As Designed.
    Workaround is : edit your interface A as following
    Declare all the Business Methods only in the Remote Interface and not inside it's Super Interfaces.
    Example:
    @Stateless(name="A")
    @Remote({A.class})
    @TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRED)
    public class AImpl implements A {
    @Override
    public void writeA() {
    System.out.println("A");
    @Override
    public void writeB() {
    System.out.println("B");
    @Override
    public void writeC() {
    System.out.println("C");
    @Remote
    @JNDIName(A.JNDI_NAME)
    public interface A extends B, C {
    public static String JNDI_NAME = "A_JNDI_NAME";
    void writeA();
    void writeB();
    void writeC();

  • Network-related or Instance-specfic error when attempting remote connection from SSMS

    Hello,
    I have installed SQL Server express on a Win7 desktop and want to connect to it via SSMS on a laptop. I have set up a SQL login on the desktop so I can login, but when I try to connect to the instance from the laptop via SSMS I get the error 26 with saying
    there is a network related or instance specific issue and that there is an error locating the Server/Instance specified.
    I am trying to connect to a named instance on the SQL Server on the win desktop. Remote connections are enabled and TCP 1433 and UPD 1434 ports are open in Windows Firewall. Antything else I should watch for?
    Thanks

    Hi MrDAndersen,
    According to your description, you come across the errors of pre-login handshake and wait operation timing out. Please help to post the full error log for further analysis.
    Based on my research, this issue could occur when .NET Framework 4.5 and non-IFS BSP/LSP are installed on the machine, and non-IFS BSP/LSP interferes with the call to Winsock.
    To work around the issue, you could use one of the two methods below.
    1. Determine whether a non-IFS BSP or LSP is installed. You could use the "netsh WinSock Show Catalog" command and examine every Winsock Catalog Provider Entry item that is returned. If the 0x20000 bit is clear (not set), it is a non-IFS BSP or
    LSP and remove the installed non-IFS Winsock LSPs. For more information about the process, please refer to the article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2568167
    2. Download and apply .NET Framework 4.5.2:

  • Web Matrix FTP Remote Connection Error - "Connection Error - Failure to get file list from server. An entry with the same key already exists."

    Does anyone have experience with this issue when connecting to a Linux FTP Web Server running a FTP Site?
    "Connection Error - Failure to get file list from server. An entry with the same key already exists."
    I cannot access the root directory of the ftp file server using Web Matrix 3. The site is .php based, and
    is accessible when connecting with FileZilla or Remote Connecting via FTP with Visual Studio.
    All sites have been deleted from Web Matrix, the user Application Data has been cleared and Web Matrix has been reinstalled.
    Issue Persists....
    Thanks in advance,
    Justin

    Turns out that the program leaves metadata in your app data folder that is not removed upon uninstallation of the software.
    This is incorporated to communicate with a file that uploaded into the ftp directory when publishing pages.

  • Remote connection SQL

    Hallo
    Hope all are well.
    I got problem connecting from remote computer to SQL server, Connecting via SQL Manangement studio on local machine where server is installed no problem.
    If I disable the Windows firewall on the server I can create remote connection. But when disabling it doesn' work.
    I enabled the following inbound rules on the server still no connection, any idea's?
    Ports Created for inbound rules:
    1433,1444,2383,1434,2382,4022,135
    Still only way to connect to server is to disable the firewall.
    SQL Server I made sure the TCP port is enabled and set to any.
    Any idea's or suggestions will be much appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Jacques.

    Hi, checkthat the right ports
    are open on Windows Firewall,
    evidently the ports you refer are not used by sql server. Is it a named instance?
    If is a default instance be sure that TCP 1433 and UDP 1434 are enabled on Windows firewall
