Design question - 1 source (sync) -- 2 receivers (sync and async)

Hi All,
What are the options available to design following scenario:
Message (material update) sent to XI from 3rd party system, XI will update material synchronous calling BAPI in SAP, response will be sent back to 3rd party. The same message (material update) needs to be updated in SQL DB asynchronously.
Do we need to use BPM for the above scenario (SystemA <> XI <> SAP and same message from SystemA -->XI --> SQL DB)???
If I need to use BPM What are the steps to be used in BPM??
Can we do this without BPM?? What is the procedure??

I think that for 1:n scenarios, if you have synchronous receiver interfaces, you'll need BPM for that. That happens because XI wont be able to decide on which receiver response message will be actually mapped back to sender response. However, Im not sure it wont work for 1:2 scenario, if you have 1 sync and 1 async receiver interfaces. Theoretically, it could work. You'll have to test it in order to be sure. If you get "TOO_MANY_RECEIVERS" error then it is like I said, it wont process 1:n with sync interfaces.

as for the BPM, you dont have necessarily to have transformation steps inside BPM, you can normally perform mappings at interface determination runtime (given that your interfaces are unique for each send step inside BPM). The steps you really need inside BPM are:
1. receive step in "open sync/async bridge" mode;
2. send step in synchronous mode (for receiver RFC);
3. send step in asynchronous mode (for receiver JDBC);
4. send step in "close sync/async bridge" mode.

When designing an ASA5550 the following document confuses me a bit. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa72/getting_started/asa5550/quick/guide/thru_n.html If I'm trying to slice up this device for multiple customers I don't see how I can follow this design document unless I setup 2 public interfaces 1 on slot0 and 1 on slot1 then have the clients from slot0's public interface have a corresponding interface on slot1. This way the traffic traverses BUS0 and BUS1 as the document explains in the link above. Can I have two public interfaces like this?

According to the document the layout of the network should be such that traffic entering from slot0 should leave from slot1 and vice versa. This means that all connections should be redundant and connected to both of the buses. This design is for internal networks and not for Internet connections.

You need iTunes on the computer. There is no iTunes for your phone. See:

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help
You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

Identity Sync for Windows problems and questions.

the setup:
2 multimaster 5.2 LDAP servers sending updates to a slave replica 5.2 LDAP server.
The slave replica is the instance that has all of ISW software installed, ISW itself and the plugin.
1 2003 AD server is accepting password, cn, and other attribute changes from the slave LDAP replica.
the problem:
When changing a password, or any other attribute on the slave replica, all the changes get synced to AD tree.
When changing any attribute, except for the password on the master LDAP servers, all the changes get synced to LDAP replica and AD tree, except for the password entry in the AD tree. All the password policies have been disabled on all 4 servers.
An interesting detail - eventhough the LDAP replication updates the password entry from LDAP masters to LDAP slave replica, that same change doesn't propagade to the AD tree. Any other attribute changed on the master server, propagades all the way to the
AD tree. The only way to actually force the password change in AD tree, is to initiate the change from the LDAP slave.
Why is that and what can be done to fix it ?
Also, on the subject of replication. Since ISW configuration is stored in the main suffix tree, any attempt to reinitialize the slave replica ( aka ISW server ) erases the configuration completely, requiring a VERY long reinstall and reconfiguration effort.
Is there a way to preven the replica init from erasing ISW configuration ?
Any other suggestions or workarounds ??

Agree with you on most points. However no all the evnironments are continuously static. In ours, we need to add servers when demand grows
and with LDAP it does so continuosly. Different departments constantly coming up with more and more applications that take advantage for different data in the directory, some demanding authoritate control over various attributes, so I can see there's going to be need for 2 or more multimaster servers down the road. Hence the concern with replica initialization with IDSYNC present on a consumer.
The procedure for replication is defined clearly and the one step that troubles me ( if IDSYNC is present ) is replica initialization, since it completely erases all LDAP data from the replica. That's the problem.
If I restore the replica from the backup, restoring IDSYNC configuration with it, perhaps you're right,it may continue working, but at this point I see it as a design flaw and a major risk anyway.
I didn't see any options during the IDSYNC install to chose another directory
suffix to store IDSYNC configuration, which would've been a simple work around, since replica init erases everything under a specific parent suffix.
I'm just searcing for other ideas how this can be prevented, maybe
using some restrictive ACL to prevent IDSYNC config from being erased by
"Replication Manager" or something along those lines.

If you haven't yet signed out in System Preferences>MobileMe go there: go to the iDisk pane and if you have iDisk Syncing running, stop it. Go to the Sync pane and turn off all syncing. Then go to the Account pane and sign out.
Also go to iPhoto and/or Aperture if applicable and if they have an accounts section in Preferences remove MobileMe from it (not all versions do).
If you have already signed out you won't be able to sign back in to do this. In that event, or if the above doesn't work, go to (user)/Library/Preferences/ByHost and remove all .plist files beginning with com.apple.DotMac and com.apple.idisk.

I have the new iPhone 6 Plus. I have all the new operating systems. Since I received the phone I have been having problems syncing. I have it set to sync over WiFi. Obviously I have tried doing a hard sync with the phone attached too. However, overtime I tell it to sync, it looks like it is transferring all 4111 songs but then when it gets done doing it's thing it reverts back to what it was when I plugged it in which is only 2000 songs. I am so confused never in my history of Apple products have I had so much trouble. Can anyone help?
My second problem, why won't my settings save? In troubleshooting this problem I turned off syncing over WiFi and switched it to manual. When I plugged the phone in it reverted back to syncing over WiFi. That would normally not happen, the settings you choose stay until you change them. I need some serious help. Suggestions please?

After days of getting frustrated I finally found a solution: Don't use itunes to sync music. After going through pages of possible solutions (restores, syncing albums one at a time, removing all music, deactivating accounts, making a call while syncing and various other things) as well as trying to contact apple support (Which was a joke--They wanted to charge me $19.00 to get help for a problem with their software), I change my Google search terms to "how to sync music without itunes" and I found a program called CopyTrans Manager for free. It only took me a few minutes to add the new tracks to my iphone. It automatically organizes it the same way itunes would and you have the option to make your own playlists. Best of all it synced the first try! Itunes is now dead to me. Now I just have to figure out what I'm going to do with all the free time I have since I'm not going to be spending hours banging my head at my computer ready to throw my phone out the window.

Question about syncing styles between Word and RH HTML 7.The
printed Word format has Hdr/Ftr, TOC, Title Page stuff.
I understood that, when importing a Word .docx, RH creates
books for Heading 1s and Topic headings are Heading 2. That is why
both Word and RH templates use the same paragraph style names
(though the format in Word/print differs from that in RH/online).
I imported my Word file into a new RH HTML 7 project. The TOC
has the expected books/topics/subtopics. I imported the .css and
the .htt from the RH 5 template project. I selected all 160 topics
in the Topic List pod and applied the corporate .htt template
(Topic Properties > General) AND (to be certain), the corporate
.css stylesheet (Topic Properties . Appearance).
This project doesn't have the same characteristics as the
base/master from RH 5 that uses those same format files. I even
imported the same skin. I get the banner, but not the styles.
All the topic headings in the RH 7 project (were transformed
to) are Heading 1 styles, even though they were Heading 2s in Word.
(this breaks with my tribal knowledge of how RH imports
Books/Topics from a Word doc). The heading colors (navy blue, royal
blue, etc.) have taken on their own definitions--dunno where from,
tho.
Since I'm OCD about creating and using one style for each
type of paragraph (procedurehead, syntax, procnum, procnonum, note,
bullist) in Word or in RH, Peter Grainger's suggestion to "clean
up" styles before importing shouldn't apply.
RH instructions omit any detail about what to specifiy in the
Conversion Options and Split On Style. I took a couple of swipes at
the SOS--OK, split on Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3. So I get
Books for Heading 1, separate topics for Heading 2 and Heading 3,
but the "topic titles" have become Heading 1 in name but not in
format. In fact, the format doesn't match anything I've specified
in Word or RH. I thought by "attaching" the .htt and the .css to
each topic (select all topics, , I'd have the look and feel I
specified in my corporate RH(5) template. The banner imported, the
navigation pane and icons imported. What happened to the styles?
Here's the missing link that someone may need to explain
(explicitly in Help somewhere). When I open the .htt template
(sample topic) that I imported from RH 5, the topic title shows as
Document > Heading 2 > in the Design view. The HTML view
labels this paragraph as h2:

Don't know how useful my question is now, given that you posted over a year ago.
Do your RH X5 Word source docs use styles? If so, take a look here, and I detail how I have been able to import from RH X5 for Word to RH 7 HTML. (I'm currently still working on a leftover issue with Keywords and Subkeywords.)
One thing I have done which probably helped: while applying new standards to our documentation, we have removed almost all images (screen shots, etc.), and have only retained those images which don't have a text equivalent. The drastically reduced the import file size of my Word source docs. All my images were referenced via TrueCode, but upon importing to RH 7 HTML, there was so much less to be processed by RH 7 HTML, that the import went much more easily and quickly.

I'm planning to implement the Sun Java System Directory Server 5.2 2005Q1 for replacing the NIS.
Currently we have 3 sites with different NIS domains.
Since the NFS over the WAN connection is very unreliable, I would like to implement as follows:
1. 3 LDAP servers + replica for each sites.
2. Single username and password for every end user cross those 3 sites.
3. Different auto_master, auto_home and auto_local maps for three sites. So when user login to different site, the password is the same but the home directory is different (local).
So the questions are
1. Should I need to have 3 domains for LDAP?
2. If yes for question 1, then how can I keep the username password sync for three domains? If no for question 1, then what is the DIT (Directory Infrastructure Tree) or directory structure I should use?
3. How to make auto map work on LDAP as well as mount local home directory?
I really appreciate that some LDAP experta can light me up on this project.

My current environment has 3 sites with 3 different NIS domainname: SiteA: A.com, SiteB:B.A.com, SiteC:C.A.com (A.com is our company domainname).
So everytime I add a new user account and I need to create on three NIS domains separately. Also, the password is out of sync if user change the password on one site.
I would like to migrate NIS to LDAP.
I want to have single username and password for each user on 3 sites. However, the home directory is on local NFS filer.
Say for userA, his home directory is /user/userA in passwd file/map. On location X, his home directory will mount FilerX:/vol/user/userA,
On location Y, userA's home directory will mount FilerY:/vol/user/userA.
So the mount drive is determined by auto_user map in NIS.
In other words, there will be 3 different auto_user maps in 3 different LDAP servers.
So userA login hostX in location X will mount home directory on local FilerX, and login hostY in location Y will mount home directory on local FilerY.
But the username and password will be the same on three sites.
That'd my goal.
Some LDAP expert suggest me the MMR (Multiple-Master-Replication). But I still no quite sure how to do MMR.
It would be appreciated if some LDAP guru can give me some guideline at start point.

See my reply to a later simplified version of your question. I don't think that either iPhone or iPad recognize RAW files such as NEFs. And the iPhone is not designed to be a mass storage device like a portable flash or portabel hard drive for temporary storage of files, if that's what you're after. As I mentioned in my previous reply, I have an iPad and have been experimenting with it as a tool for photography, hoping that it would be a nice travel tool for backing up and viewing photos from my Nikon dslr. But both the iPad and iPhone just are not set up to do that well. Both show photos nicely, but organization of photos is very frustrating since you can't create albums on the iPhone or iPad, but only back on your sync computer. (There is one very powerful photo organization app called SortShots, but you import photos to it and it organizes and stores the images wtihin the app not using the native photo app. It doesn't work with NEFs either.) I don't know of any RAW processing software for either device.

Naming sync and async operation

Does somebody know what is the rule for naming the synchronous version of an asynchronous operation (or vice verse)? Also, is the implementation pattern for the Create/Update/Delete/Sync EBO based EBS operations always supposed to be asynchronous request-response (while synchronous for Query/QueryList)?
I know that Process() can be designed as both synchronous and asynchronous, but can the aforementioned have their synchronous version as well (asynchronous for Query/QueryList)?

To effectively transfer ownership of the iPhone requires that it be "restored" as a new device.

The iPhone is not a backup device. Your computer backs up the iPhone, not the other way around. What you use to back up your computer is up to you - Macs use Time Machine. I assume PCs use something similar.
If her PC backup is dead you will have difficulty extracting content from the iPhone since it is not designed to work that way.
All her Apple purchases can easily be transferred to another iPhone. However, her contacts will be gone, as will any music or other contact obtained from sources other than Apple.

There are three models of MacBook that comprise the 'macbook 4.1' category, and each of them a little different; however other than 'macbook 4.1' the other thing they have in common is they all are considered Early 2008. Two are white, one black, polycarbonate case, Core2Duo 2.1GHz, 2.4GHz white, 2.4GHz black.
So if you can determine which one, if any of these, is the model build year and spec you have, that would be handy. Did you tell whoever you spoke to the serial number of your computer, so they'd know by looking up the specs to see what the supported maximum RAM upgrade capacity was, and other minimum requirements to make any upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6.8 at all?
If you have the serial number you can do a lookup to 'indentify by serial number' online, and use that information to determine if the computer needs even more RAM to take it past the minimum for Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then get it ready to upgrade (via paid download from App Store, Snow Leopard gets you that far) and see what the next supported OS X full upgrade would be for the hardware limitations on that old MacBook.
If your MacBook IS a 4.1 build, the highest OS X it could run if it has the 2.4GHz cpu, is Lion 10.7.5. That would be an upgrade from the App store, available to OS X 10.6.8+ computers that access it online. And I kind of doubt how supported a newest iphone etc may be in lion.

The Apple? store or whoever you talked, to may have been as accurate as they could be without further research. Could be you may have a newer or older MacBook, which would change whatever later OS X it could run past 10.6.8. And to go past Snow Leopard, you need to download the last bits for 10.6.x to be able to go and get any later upgrade. The ones that may let a newest iphone or ipad work with it, are past SL10.6.8
Anyway, as you further verify the model build year and configuration specifications, report back.
