Designer (XI 3.1 SP4) sort order of classes in derived universe messed up

Hello,
We just recently upgraded our BOXI 3.1 environment to SP 4 FP 4.1 and we now notice that the order of our classes has changed in our derived universes. Even though the parameter CORE_ORDER_PRIORITY is set to Yes, the classes are sorted alphabetically.
We would like all classes comming from linked universes to be at the top of the classes list, how can this be done in this version of designer?
When we open the universe in designer 3.1 SP2 the order is as we expect it to be (all classes from the linked universes on top of the list)
Kind regards
Guy

Hi,
if a parameter that you know to be effective previously, is now no longer functioning post-patch...
either the parameter has inadvertently been overwritten and needs to be restored/confirmed again,
and/or perhaps another new parameter has been introduced which has usurped it,
and/or  this is a regession introduced by a patch which needs to be submitted to support poste-haste.
I would strongly recommend that you contact Primary Support via OSS and provide your files (UNVs + CNS + WID) via a BIAR file to the engineer.
Regards,
H

  • Sort order in Paragraph Catalog inconsistent / incorrect

    b Problem Description:
    Sort order of paragraph styles INCONSISTENT/INCORRECT when compared to standard alphabetical sort. From the Paragraph Catalog, or when I select F9, styles starting with "1a_" sort before styles starting with "1_". If a table with the style names is sorted, "1_" comes before "1a_".
    This sort order worked correctly in FM7.2. In FM8.x, it started sorting incorrectly. Our template was designed based on the standard sort order for characters, which somehow changed starting in FM8.x.

    I have the same problem. I've lost track now of the number of times where I've assigned the wrong paragraph style to something since switching to FM8. The styles are no longer in the same order, so my level 1 heading is no longer the first tag that comes up when I press F9. Now I have to dig for it through other tags that start with the number 1 in our catalog.
    Our paragraph tags were developed years ago, and it wasn't until FM8 that there was a problem with the sort order. The characters no longer sort the same as Windows sorts. An underscore is supposed to come before all letters and numbers. Adobe, please fix this annoying bug!!!

  • Album sort order PSE11 - is it by design ?

    When experimenting with the sort order of albums in PSE11, I was surprised to see that in some albums, changing the sort order from 'oldest' to 'newest' did not produce any effect.
    The reason of this probably lies in the menu /preferences/general :
    If you have only pictures taken the same day, the above setting will still show 'oldest first' even you choose 'newest first' for album order.
    I believe that the most used order is 'album order' and that the 'newest first' is very rare.
    I can understand the option to browse 'oldest first within each day' when in 'newest first' in thumbnail view.
    However, I wonder if that option makes sense to sort an album ?
    Was it by design ?
    If it were me...
    I would not use that preference for an album,
    and...
    I would add the option to sort by filename and caption.

    Figured it out. I added "Various Artists" in the Album Artist field for every track and it then sorted them all together.

  • How do I get Iphoto to preserve the sort order when I transfer an album?

    Here's my problem. I carefully sorted my album of 230 photos manually. Each photo was then numbered from 1 to 230.   Then I used IPhoto Library Manager to transfer this album someplace else -- to my desktop, to a thumb drive, to Dropbox---   In every case, when I did that, the photos themselves transfered just fine,  but the sort order I had so carefully constructed has fallen apart and cannot by retrieved. Even  when I  close and then reopen an Album I have transferred to my Desktop, it loses its sort order.  This is driving my crazy  because I need to transfer this album so that it preserves the slideshow I have designed for it. A slideshow, of course, demands preserving the order of the slides.
    In short, how can I preserve the sort order of an album when I transfer it out of one library to another?

    If you're transferring to another library, why are you exporting to the Finder (which is what Desktop, thumbdrive and DropBox are). This doesn’t understand manual sorting from iPhoto.
    Here's one (of several) way(s) to do what you want:
    Make an Album of the photos, then drag the pics into your preferred order.
    Then Photos Menu: Batch Change -> Set Title to Text "John's Birthday", for instance, and tick the box to append a number to each Photo. Now your photos are titled 'John's Birthday 001, John's Birthday 002 ... etc'
    Then File -> Export and in the Export dialogue set the Filename to "Use Title"
    Sort on Filename in the FInder and you end up with a folder full of images in the same order as the Album in iPhoto.

  • Any way to Restore Last Manual Sort Order or Prevent from being Overwritten accidentally?

         Help!
         I'm constantly accidentally overwriting painstakingly created manual sort ordering (sometimes hours but more often months of accumulated work) in folders with files numbering up to 1,000, when i, however breifly, switch to another sort ordering (size, date modified etc) to check something, immediately forget that i'm in another sort order, and, unthinkingly (actually i guess i'm thinking of a lot of other things) drag a file to another position, this immediately destroys any past manual sorting i've established, overwriting it with this new inadvertent manual ordering.
         I've tried CommandZ (edit undo) but that only undoes my last rating or labeling, i've rushed to force quit Bridge through the activity montior hoping i will catch it before its overwritten, but obviously i am not as fast as a computer, and i don't think this has ever worked.
    Is there any way or any script someone has written to formally save a manual sort order? Is there anything i've missed to attempt restoring it? Has anyone, repeatedly foiled by this, written something that would give a warning and require confirmation say for instance, if i tried to drag or move a file while in another sort ordering (this seems like something that should have existed the minute the opportunity was given to create manual organization). Would anyone be willing to?
         Seriously, me forgetting almost every time isn't going to change and, more vexingly, it's even happened when i didn't mean to move anything but fumbled momentarily while in another sort order. I think most people might forget because (in the context of computing) we are conditioned to expect a warning if something we have just created is about to be written over or discarded, and since there is no option to formally save a manual ordering we have just created.
         Also, if this was in the real world, moving a single file would not reshuffle everything on your desk. If i had the option to formally save a manual organization i would NOT forget to do this and would use it, as i've wished for one every time spent a while rearranging files. Knowing how easily all the hours (much less months and years of cumulative work) of organizational work can be accidentally lost makes working within Bridge unpleasantly anxious.
          I'm literally willing to do anything including installing some sketchy 3rd-part scripts (though honestly i have no idea what that means or how to do it). I extentively use and rely heavily upon this function so this is a fairly serious Achille's heel. It's like watching your incredibly important meticulously constructed house of cards collapse with a careless but innocent sigh, or like having the equivelent of a not even charming cat dance across your keyboard during a live concert, etc etc....
         Also it is not usually appropriate, given the context, to batch rename everything to preserve a manual ordering w sequence numbers, etc. Often the filenames are considerably (but necessarily, to connote important differences) long already, and when i have to rearrange things in the future would have to do that each time, etc, etc, making for even more unwieldly filenames that didn't have any substantive information at the beginning. I'm looking for a way to make this function (manual sort ordering), well, more functional, secure and stable, the workarounds i've considered cause too many additonal problems.
         Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to offer, and as this is my first attempt to use the forums as i live on a boat with no regular net access, would appreciate any forum etiquette corrections, and advance apologies for any misspellings, dyslexic and spellcheck does not seem to work in this interface. next time will edit in external wordprocessing program beforehand,

         PS i'm on a 27" mac w CS4 Design Premium, w up to the minute OS (10.6.8) and Adobe software updates installed recently (i do not often move the monster but this week was housesitting w net access, so she has had all recommended shots and vaccinations....)
         PPS I know most of y'all might be running the newest and the latest of everything, but, i'm fairly certain this is still a problem in recent versions as this has happened to me at school where all the macs are running cs5. Though if it's been addressed somehow in cs6 would update entire suite just to fix this one problem in Bridge. I've tried many searches and found nothing relevant or wouldn't bother the considerable expertise and resources of an official forum, was extremely hesitant to ask (feared getting snapped at for unwittingly broaching forum etiquette) but it is truly the bane of my considerable Bridge existence, so was willing to risk the imaginary censure and opprobrium....

    That is a good question, to do this requires two functions and a restart of Bridge all done automagically
    Copy and paste the script into ExtendScript Toolkit
    This gets installed with Photoshop and can be found:-
    PC: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Utilities
    MAC: <hard drive>/Applications/Utilities/Adobe Utilities
    Start Bridge
    PC: Edit - Preferences - Startup Scripts
    Mac: Adobe Bridge menu - Preferences - Startup Scripts
    At the bottom click the "Reveal Button" this will open the folder where the script should be saved.
    Close and restart Bridge.
    Accept the new script.
    To use:
    Tools - Backup Manual Sort
    This will backup the hidden manual sort file .BridgeSort to .BridgeSortSave
    Tools - Restore Manual Sort
    This will copy the .BridgeSortSave back to .BridgeSort and will close and restart Bridge so that the manual sort is restored.
    if( BridgeTalk.appName == "bridge" ) {
    var backUpManSort = new MenuElement( "command","Backup Manual Sort", "at the end of Tools" , "backupms" );
    var RestoreManSort = new MenuElement( "command","Restore Manual Sort", "at the end of Tools" , "restorems" );
    backUpManSort.onSelect = function () {
    var fileSort = new File(app.document.presentationPath +"/.BridgeSort");
    var fileSave = new File(app.document.presentationPath +"/.BridgeSortSave");
    if(fileSave.exists) fileSave.remove();
    fileSort.copy(fileSave);
    fileSave.hidden=true;
    RestoreManSort.onSelect = function () {
    var fileSort = new File(app.document.presentationPath +"/.BridgeSort");
    var fileSave = new File(app.document.presentationPath +"/.BridgeSortSave");
    if(!fileSave.exists){
    alert("No backup file exists");
    return;
    app.document.sorts = [{ type:"string",name:"document-kind", reverse:false }];
    if(fileSort.exists) fileSort.remove();
    fileSave.copy(fileSort);
    fileSort.hidden=true;
    app.document.chooseMenuItem("mondo/command/new");
    app.documents[0].close();
    app.document.sorts = [{ name:"user",type:"date", reverse:false }];
    Hope this works for you.

  • SORT ORDER WITHIN GROUPS

    Post Author: Kara
    CA Forum: General
    Hi,
    I am using version 9. I have designed a report based on an access control database. It shows a person's time in and time out, then totals these hours. My report is grouped as follows:
    Department
    Date/Time
    Unique ID
    The main data of the report is shown in group footer 3 (Unique ID) and is displayed in numerical order. I need to change the sort order to display by last name, first name but because I have grouped by unique ID I can't seem to be able to do it!
    Any help gratefully received,
    Kara

    I use a similar report to track service personnel who also have a unique ID.  I have mine set up as follows - maybe this'll help.
    I used selection expert to specify the dates I want to see.
    Group 1 sorts on the unique ID. Instead of printing the unique ID field in the group header, I have Employee.EmpName.  They'll come out in their unique ID sort so the names might be a little out of order. If that's a problem you could put sort option on that field.
    Group 2 sorts by the Job ID, with the group header suppressed.
    Detail line has location, job id, date, time on, time off, total time in hours and if it's completed.
    Group 2 summarizes at date and amount at the job ID level.
    Group 1 summarizes at technician.
    I get very accurate reports to match against their hand written time cards.
    Perhaps if you re-arranged the grouping?

  • Specified Sort Order not working correctly in InfoView

    Hello All,
    We are running Crystal 2008 version 12.2.0.290 with Infoview 12.1.0 and are having a problem with specified sort orders working correctly.  In Crystal we are using the 'Chart Expert' to set the specified order of the percent bar chart.  It works just fine in Crystal 2008 and shows the stacked bar in the order we would expect.  We then save the report to InfoView and run the report on a schedule and it comes back in a completely different order. Not the order we specified in designing the report.  Any ideas on what is going on?
    Thanks in advance.

    We are experiencing a similar issue with the sort order in Infoview. We are using Crystal XI.5.8.26 and Infoview.
    The specified sort order works correctly in Crystal but in Infoview it comes back with a different order. Are there any suggestions on resolving this disparity?
    Thank you.

  • Why is manual sort order disabled in album view

    I created an album and added pictures. By default, the photos are displayed in sort order by date. I'd like to manually order them. However, when I select the sort order drop down box, the option to manually order the photos is disabled. How can I enable it or why is it disabled.

    It is not available because you have yet to create a manual sort for that Album, and so there is no "Manual Sort" available. Create a manual sort manually (re-arrange the photos). Then the "Manual Sort" menu choice should become available.
    The menu switches between the existing sorts.
    I didn't design it. This makes sense to engineers, but not so much to users. Any time you manually re-arrange your images, the sort is automatically changed to "Manual". Aperture remembers the last manual sort; it is always available via the sort selector.

  • Changing Sort Order in Smart Album when Looking for Roll Name=Corruption

    We've confirmed via testing and from new posters that changing the sort order in a Smart Album who's criteria is to look for a roll name will cause iPhoto to crash and then crash upon launch after that.
    So to avoid corrupting your library do not change the sort order of a Smart Album designed to locate rolls.
    The thread discussing this is:
    IPhoto keeps on crashing, cannot use it
    Rebuilding the library with iPhoto Library Manager recovered the library. However, I don't know if a rebuild via the Control+Option key will do the same.
    G5 Dual Core 2GHz, 2G RAM, 22 Display, 250G HD, 200G FW HD, QT 7.0.4P   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Canon S400, i850 & LIDE 50, Epson R200, 2G Nano

    Ha! I upgraded to iPhoto 6.0.3 and opened the dummy library I had created. (This was the library where the crash on launch kept happening because I had a smart folder looking for rolls and sorted by title or something else other than the default.)
    Guess what, it opened just fine! 6.0.3 fixes the crash. Not sure how much it helps people who started new libraries, but at least others won't run into this.

  • Sort order in filter box (NAVPANEL)

    Dear experts,
    in BEx 7.0 it seems the free characteristics in the navigation pane are sorted ascending according to the text.
    I have found an option for changing the sort order in the workbook (design mode -> filter/navigation pane -> properties -> dimensions -> change order).
    We would however like to generally influence the sort order and select it in dependency of the order in the query designer or the technical names/text of the characteristics,...
    Any ideas on how to accomplish our endeavour?
    Kind regards,
    Jeanette

    Hi Jeanette,
    For some reason this 5 year old question has appeared on the first page of BEx discussions. The only way to influence this sort order is to change the name of the Char.
    Regards,
    Michael

  • Aperture, the iPad, and sort order

    Basically, Aperture and iPad really don't seem to be happy bed buddies. Seems to me the bottom line is if you want to use your iPad to browse and view pictures, don't "upgrade" to Aperture.
    My basic problem is sort order, and twofold:
    1. The order of Albums and Events (ie. Projects) are completely out of whack.
    2. The order of actual photos in albums and events are completely out of whack too.
    Now I've seen complaints about 2. in the discussions but they seem to be pretty old threads and everyone's seemed to just have lived with it. I also see this support article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3381. Seriously? Apple calls that a "Resolution"? Manually dragging a photo in each and every album / project so that it uses the custom sort? Then of course on top of all that monkey work, the sort will be screwed for any future photos added to the album / project. ***? You can't even call that a workaround, let alone a resolution. Seriously Apple. Has anyone had any better luck with it?
    This has been a pain in the *** with A2 and the iPhone but I didn't really use that too much to display my photos. But now with A3 and iPad, it's still exactly the same deal? This is just plain stupid.
    As to 1. I can't for the life of me figure out what this order is (it's not by date or by name / path or anything I can tell), or if there's any way to change it. Nor could I find any threads about this issue so any info or tips would be very useful.
    I really hate that all this iDevice syncing has solely been designed for use with iPhoto/iLife and the pro applications were just tacked on as a badly implemented afterthought. Is the pro market (specifically the intersection of Pro software and iDevice users) really this small that it means nothing to Apple, a company which normally prides itself in its attention to detail and user experience?

    After taking a breath I renamed "version name" using the batch change function (you can select to keep the original file name untouched if you want) with a custom name as following:
    <Image Date> at <Image Time> - <Version Name> (optional as a reference to the original file name)
    synched with ipad and everything is fine now. takes only 30 sec. still annoying you have to go through these extra loops though...

  • Custom Sort Order in Dropdown list of translate values

    Peoplesoft sorts the dropdown translate values in ascending order by default. I wanted to change the sort order. For example:
    The translate values in alphabetic order are:
    Andrea
    Baluch
    Others
    Shumi
    I want this "Others" as the last value. So the drop down should display like this:
    Andrea
    Baluch
    Shumi
    Others

    From a document I had created ...
    This odd behavior of PeopleTools however can be overridden by implementing a few lines of JavaScript and PeopleCode.
    The approach is quite simple and summarized briefly as below:
    1.     Concatenate the value-description pairs of the dropdown list into a single string separated by a pipe “|” as delimiter (in case other delimiter is used the script shown below in Step 4 has
    to be accordingly modified) in the sequence in which it should be displayed on the page.
    2.     While concatenating, make sure to place the value first and then the description, these being separated by the delimiter. Example: “01|”|”January”|”02|”February” …and so on.
    3.     Pass this string as a parameter to an HTML definition through a GetHtmlText function. This HTML definition in turn will a have a JavaScript logic to resolve this delimited string into
    meaningful value-description pairs and use them to override the intended dropdown list.
    Below are the steps in detail:
    Step 1:
    Find out the html element-id for the dropdown field from the html source-code of the PeopleSoft page from the browser. In HTML, the tag for a dropdown field is <select> </select>
    The element-id is set by the id attribute of the <select> tag. This id would be used in Step 5.
    Step 2:
    Add a field of type Long Character to any work record that you may be using on your page for buttons, hyperlinks, etc.
    Step 3:
    Add an HTML-Area to the page (preferably alongside the dropdown field which needs need to be sorted). In the properties of the HTML-Area, assign the Record-field used in Step 2 above.
    Step 4:
    Create a HTML definition from the app-designer and add the below JavaScript code to it and save the definition.
    <script>
    var j=0;
    var str=new String('%bind(:2)');
    ar1=str.split("|");
    var fld = document.getElementById("%bind(:1)");
    fld.options.length = 0;
    fld.options[fld.options.length] = new Option('', '');
    while (j<ar1.length)
              fld.options[fld.options.length] = new Option(ar1[j+1], ar1[j]);
                    j=j+2;
    </script>
    Step 5:
    Write peoplecode on an appropriate event to generate the concatenated string of value-descriptions delimited by a pipe “|”. A pseudocode for the same is shown below. Here the HTML id for the dropdown field and the value-description string are passed as parameters to the JavaScript shown in Step 4; and JavaScript thus created after substitution of the Bind values is assigned to the value of Record.Field used in Step 2 & 3. The location of the below peoplecode may vary depending on the when the dropdown list needs to be sorted.
    Local string &strDropdownValues;
    &strDropdownValues = "1|" | "January|" | "2|" | "February|" | "3|" | "March|" | "4|" | "April|" | "5|" | "May|" | "6|" | "June";
    <Record.Field>.Value = GetHTMLText(<HTML.DPS_DROPDOWN_HTML>, "<DROPDOWN_ID>", &strDropdownValues);

  • Designerd does not generate Order BY code for Sort Order on a lookup tabel column.

    I am setting the Sort Order on a column which is based on a lookup table.
    When generate the the module, designer does not generate the code for the Sort Order that I set on the lookup table column.
    Is there a work around for this problem or is there some thing else that needs to be done in designer to make it generate the order by clause?
    I will very much appreciate help.
    Regards
    Prasad.

    A bound lookup item, will be generated as a NON-database item in Forms. Designer generates an ORDER BY CLAUSE (a Forms Block property) for the ordering. But a NON-database item cannot be included in the ORDER BY CLAUSE.
    I used a stored function for ordering the lookup item.

  • Sort Order: Case insensitive... move NULL to end of list

    Hello All,
    I am trying to sort a set a values, and NULL is a possible value. In the report I am displaying the NULL as EMPTY (I cannot leave that as NULL). I was wondering if there is a way to display this 'EMPTY' value as the last element in the list.
    I tried to append various ASCII characters in front of it, but nothing seems to work. Even is if enclose it in parenthesis, is does alphabetical sort.
    Is there a work around ?
    Thanks for your time !

    Nemi, Deborah,
    According to SAP Note 1200528 - Web Intelligence does not utilize special characters when sorting, this 'issue' is by design and not by design.
    The following is a copy-paste from the note:
    Symptom
    When attempting to sort a Web Intelligence document on a particular column, special characters such as "-" or "." are not respected.  For example, add the following into a database and then create a Web Intelligence report.
    a-Austria
    a-Austrailia
    a-Belgium
    a B-Argentina
    a B-Brazil
    a B-Egypt
    When you sort this data in Web Intelligence it appears as:
    a-Austria
    a-Austrailia
    a B-Argentina
    a B-Brazil
    a B-Egypt
    a-Belgium
    Cause
    This behavior is by design. For Enterprise XI Release 2, the Lexicographical order of the International components of Unicode has been implemented. This order sorts with respect to the language set for a data source.  This means that if we modify the sort order for English, other languages that we support will also have changes in their sort order.  In this case we must do our best to respect all the languages that we support.
    For more information please go to http://icu.sourceforge.net/
    Resolution
    To work around this behavior, complete one of the following:
    Workaround 1:
    Create a formula on the field such as
    "=Replace([Col001];"-";" ")"
    This will replace the - with a space although for this example the sort will be in the same "wrong" order, it will look much nicer.
    - or-
    Workaround 2:
    Create a custom sort:
    1. Select the section cell or table cells you want to sort.
    2. Click the down arrow next to the Apply/Remove Sort button on the Report toolbar then select Custom... from the drop-down list.
    Best,
    Srinivas

  • Sort order switches when changing from List to Thumbnail View

    I can't seem to get the Thumbnail view to "lock" to the same sort order as the list view.  I arrange by file name (or ingest date, or reverse media duration, or any of the other sortable metadata fields) in list view, but then when I click to the thumbnail view, the order seems to arbitrariliy change to some sort of preset.  What's worse, it appears to be changing to something that's in a jumbled order.
    This isn't a big deal if I only have 10 clips.  If I have 100, or 1,000 clips though, they have to be in a sortable order for the thumbnail view to be of any use.
    Thanks,
    Eli

    Hi,
    Thanks for your post. Our current design doesn't support keeping order between list view and icon view. It would be good if you can drop that as a feature request / bug into the the forum.
